This is my inital review and first impressions on the Thule Motion XXL 21 cu.ft roof top cargo carrier. Overall it looks cool and aerodynamic but is a bit more flimsy than I’d expect for the price point. However this. Is my first time using a cargo box. The person at the store said they recommend keeping some fluffy things inside when it’s installed on racks to keep lid from bouncing a bit. On the ride home at highway speeds, I definitely on occasion could hear lid noise. Air noise was not noticie to me. After our family camping trip coming up in a few weeks, I’ll provide an update to how it went. P.S - I’d recommend having an extra person to help load this onto the van/suv rack.
No moonroof on this van. I’ll post an update shortly since we went on our camping trip. It for sure touches the top with factory cross bars. I put a little pad under the front corner that was touching the vans roof and annoying highway tapping noise was solved. I’m hopeful that aftermarket crossbars completely solved this issue.
I have the same van and I want the same box. Great video. I have factory crossbars. I’m thinking I’ll swap them with Thule Wingbar Edge or Evo. Not sure yet. Hopefully you have a good trip and I look forward to your update.
Hi @BigStitch, the cross bars on my Sienna are fixed and not adjusted. The lock location on the Thule is adjustable and I have them set so the Thule can be as far back as possible to still allow tailgate to open up without hitting the box. My thoughts are, the box one size down from this XL would be perfect for. With this box, I’d recommend new cross bars.
@@2centclipshow was the trip with the box? Was it okay at highway speeds? Any movement or noise after dialing it in or adding gear. What new crossbars are you thinking?

Thank you for your information. I have a questions. Do you have OEM cross bar? I have OEM cross bar and moon-roof. I worry about damage to my glass?

Could you move the front crossbar closer to the front?
From what I can see it’s all the way forward already. I’m thinking I need aftermarket crossbars. Anyone have recommendations?
