Thanks guys for putting this out! I've been delaying my first cargo box purchase because the Vector M looked like what I wanted, but was so new that no one had an example to compare with in the store. Now we have some detailed video of it + a side-by-side comparison of it against some of their other older models. Well done!

Thule Motion XT L Black Cargo Box bought mine today at Van Nuys Shop for my 2014 Subaru Outback in the shop they look huge but Jefry said once mounted it would be just the right size 👍
Hello. The Vector is a completely unique design with Thule's most advanced molding techniques to optimize strength and aerodynamics. The Motion XT is still the more popular product as it delivers great performance at a much lower price. Thanks!
The ABS can stress crack with wind stress over time. I am looking for a rear loading box with hinge on front and lock on back so you have less chance of side lock failure and wind blow out. These locks are know for issues closing and locking/unlocking correctly. Always read the one star reviews on these at places like REI and Amazon so you know there weaknesses😮
Hello. Sorry, but we do not have any fit listings for the 2023 Ford Focus. Please check back later for updates on our fit guide: www.rackattack.com/wizard/ In the past, we'd generally suggest a 16 cubic foot box to proportionally fit the Focus (on an approved roof rack). Thanks!
Great comparison video--well done!! Currently have a Yakima Skybox 16 but it needs to be replaced (true story: was in San Diego and misjudged the ceiling height when going down into underground parking! Possibly the stupidest thing I have ever done driving, but who knows, maybe I can outdo it. Crunched it something fierce and put two cracks in it and jacked up the inner hinges, but with gorilla tape I have made do). I like Thule as it is about 6 lbs lighter, at least with the Motion, than the 16L Yakima Skybox. Paying more for the Thule, of course, but it seems well made.
Hey guys, great video. What size and model do you feel would be best for a 2024 VW Atlas? I’m looking for the most amount of space but still looks good mounted to my car.
Hey Larry, you should never take the cargo box through the car wash, it will be damaged. On that note, the crossbars on your vehicle, if removable, should also be removed for the car wash as taking them through voids warranty and will not be covered if damaged. Hope this helps!
Great question! I would usually recommend shifting the cargo box to one side of the roof to be next to the unit, but from pictures online the AC unit for the Intech Explorer appears to be centered in the roof. Since it most likely needs to sit above the AC unit, the fit would greatly depend on the rack system that would hold up the cargo box. At timestamp 9:06 you can see between the clamps on the bottom of the Force XT is flat, meaning it rests directly on the crossbars. The crossbars will need to sit above the AC unit enough so no vents are blocked, and so the cargo box doesn't heat up. I would recommend reaching out to your local Rack Attack store to speak to an installer about possible fitments: www.rackattack.com/stores/
I have a large Pioneer platform made by Rhino Racks on my truck and I was wondering if I can mount directly without any other accessories any of this cargo boxes in between the platforms channels. Thanks
Unfortunately in my 15 years of attacking racks I have never worked on a SEAT (Had to google) as they aren't sold in North America that I know of. However! Any box will fit on your crossbars, however some of the longer boxes can have a bit of hatch interference. Measure from the open hatch to the middle of the front cross bar. With that measurement, we can let you know which boxes fit without hatch interference. In most cases the antenna is a bit flexible and can bend a bit if it is tall enough that it would contact the box.
Thanks for the nice comparison video. It is very helpful. I am interested in an XXL box and wondering about the choice between Force and Motion. I see your point about the larger beltline on the Motion, also the different lockingh systems and exterior finishes. My question is - do you recommend the Motion over the Force? Thanks.

The best thing Thule has done was to make the clamps easily removable because I keep breaking the ones in my old Atlantis.
Hello. Though the Atlantis was state-of-the-art in its time, Thule is always striving to improve the ease of use of there products. Thanks for commenting!
That vector is sweet but that price woo
Hello. Yes, the Vector has every advanced feature from Thule's best engineers and designers, fortunately, the less expensive Motion XT shares many of the same features. Thanks!
Very interesting and informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi I am planning to buy one in the next two week i live in houston texas i can come buy and get one from you in Austin over on a weekend if is possible i have a Tahoe 2019 i like to get the large one that i can fit on the tahoe, i like the one in the middle
We do stock these boxes at our Austin location which is open 10AM - 6PM Monday through Friday. We offer free installation on these boxes on approved crossbars. Please call prior to traveling to confirm, we do offer 24 hour holds on boxes.
Does the Motion XT Alpine have the tubular support bars underneath? You only mentioned the L, XL, and XXL but didn't say if the alpine had them or not.
Hello. Yes, the Motion XT Alpine also has the tubular steel support bars underneath. Thanks!
This is somewhat related. What happened to their Hyper line?
The Hyper is discontinued. We may see a replacement for the Hyper in the future as this could fill in the price point between the Motion XT and the Vector. Nothing is official or even rumored at this time though.
aren't there four power grips? two on each side to pinch the roof bars? why do I only see one?
Vector has all four Power Grips preinstalled, the Motion XT and Force XT are shipped with the hardware included but not preinstalled.
I am new to cargo roof racks and I am looking to purchase one, but a question I have is are the boxes tall enough to fit a large suitcase? Or even the smaller single person (maybe carry on suit cases) And what's the maximum weight that can safely be stored in the boxes?
Hello. Most boxes are rated to carry 110 pounds, some up to 165 and here's an 18 cubic foot box with five standard carry-on size luggage pieces with room to spare: th-cam.com/video/VBzFtv_k_iw/w-d-xo.html Thanks!
I’ve had all three it’s kind of like what looks best on your car and how much are you willing to pay. They all work great.
Hello. Yes, good input. Thanks!
Why are you lying?
@@davedavid0 Why are you acusing him of lying?
@TheGrundigg it's been a year since that was posted. Why are you defending a liar?
@@davedavid0 It's been 49 minutes since my comment, why are you saying I am defending him?
Long term durability? What do i need that for? Am i rolling my car over?
Can a stroller fit the vector???
213gixxer Potentially, but you’d want to do a test fit to confirm.
Awesome!
Glad you think so!
For a toyota pruis any recommendations anyone?
It will depend on the year and bars you have on your Prius, generally I recommend any of the Thule L or Yakima 16 cubic foot boxes for a vehicle like yours.
Can you mount a Thule Motion XT cargo box on a Yakima rack using Corebar or Jetstream crossbars
NO
@@salvadorcampos3840 Actually you can, I just purchased a Thule Motion XT XL and mounted it on a Yakima rack using jetstream crossbars and it works perfectly.
Thanks
Thank you for your time, and comment!
The VECTOR is the L or the ALPINE?
Hello, The Vector is offered in an "M" or Alpine, this video is featuring the "M". Thanks!
What about speed?
Up to 140 km/h
@@aeshuva thank you
and for higher speed?
@@aeshuva That is wrong, it is 130 km/h.
trip width the fe ski pals luggage hassle concern not emergency equipment and nutrition included ; done
Too bad Thule never released a bigger Vector
Only Medium and no Large or Xtra Large and definitely no XXtra Large
Hello. Yes, the Vector is a speciality box and very low profile, the Motion XT and Force XT are offered in larger volume sizes to suit a wider range of users. Thanks!
911 are these cases waterproof??
213gixxer They are considered weather resistant.
I'm surprised they are still using cheap locks these days.
Hello. The Thule One-Key System is used throughout the Thule product line. The system provides a strong theft deterrent and is comparable the other rack manufactures' lock systems. In a high risk environments, we'd suggest unloading the gear, eg: overnight motel stays. Thanks!
Dude said frontal
Tuly? Has everyone in my life been pronouncing the name of this brand wrong my entire life? You say it Tuly and not Thool? huh...
yes, that would be the correct enunciation. Thule = (THEW-lee)
Stay away from Thule products. They don’t answer warranties or call you back. I’ve been waiting over a month to resolve my defective Upride bike racks. I’m going to continue on social media until they are out of business.
Choose another company.
Hello. Presenting the warranty claim with a clear explanation of the defect along with photos can go a long way to have a claim resolved, here's their warranty page for a through explanation of what's covered: www.thule.com/en-us/about-thule/warranty
Not 'toolee' but 'toolah'.'
Hello. Good point, yes, you'll find that Thule is commonly pronounced "toolah" in Europe but it is commonly pronounced "toolee" in North America. Thanks!
@@rackattack You're welcome! I hope you didn't take offense!
@@esdet105 No offense taken, thanks for commenting.
cubic feet what a nonsense unit😂
Same terrible latching systems from decades ago I see.
Hello. Thanks for the comment. Thule has had great success with these boxes in markets around the world. Sorry to hear of the latch issue.
Way too long and off point. Clean and concise is needed. 1). Start with PRICE. 2). Then tell us what you get at each price point. 3). Cubic Ft? Really. People want to know how long, wide and tall they are. 4). Which fit best on which vehicle. 5). Then get into ease of use. The video is taking way too much time talking about features that are self evident. Again, tie downs, led lights, etc. all good to know… once I know what the price is!
Hello. Each model is offered in multiple sizes all at different prices which change over time. Current price comparisons would be best found on our website: www.rackattack.com/cargo-boxes/ We do have over 70 videos showing boxes on specific vehicle which many find useful. Here's our cargo carrier playlist (124 videos): th-cam.com/play/PLOSKwRzMz8xzrtUnNN3BAwRh-dnjcYo3b.html Thanks for commenting!
Such outdated ugly designs!
