Thanks for sharing. I flew on the Rust plane to Lake Clark, but when I got halfway there, we had to turn around and come back due to bad weather. They said we wouldn't be able to get back. I enjoyed seeing what I missed. Thanks again 😊
Great Alice. Nice train ride with a drop off point. I could feel the area, the smell of nature, the moisture from the glacier, and it gets cool being in a remote cabin at night especially with the elevation gain. Who's your friend? 😇 It is always nice to have company, someone to chat with while out there in the woods. It is also safer. I have been camping at the foot of glaciers on several occasions here in Canada, slept in a remote cabin a couple of times as they were free to use, to keep the weather out. The morning freshness was fantastic and the sunrise reflections almost a spectacle to watch. Soon glaciers will be something from the past as they are melting away. Thanks for sharing 👣🐻🌲
It is always a safety measure to have a trail buddy while out there. I have hiked solo many times but the danger is omnipresent every step of the way. Please give Dailyn my regards.
Laughton glacier has an ancient feeling to it. The rough forms and immense curvature and steps of the various arms of the glacier and all the wandering stone piles and massive carved ice piles stir up the artistic gateway in the mind. Stunning beauty! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad to know about the cabin situation. At 58 I'm still a rough neck but my wife would be fine if we never slept on the ground ever again. Nice compromise! Thanks for the effort!
Yes and there’s another cabin even closer to the train tracks called the Denver Train Caboose. But it might be a bit louder during the day due to its proximity to the tracks
Sleeping in a cabin in the backcountry of Alaska. That would be a great time. A friend of mine from work is headed to Alaska today for the next two weeks. I sent him a link to this video.
I just visited Skagway for the first time a few weeks ago (drove there). Great town, but WAY too many people in town due to the ships. You did it right. The key is to get out of town. I don't get the appeal of visiting a town of a few hundred with 10k other tourists and buying a bunch of junk at tourist traps. I also visited Hyder, AK. WAY nicer. And the locals there were actually all year round residents.
We were just in Skagway about a month ago. We were part of the 95% who stayed on the train. Thanks for showing us what the hearty 5% do. If you make it to Sitka, check out the bear rescue sanctuary.
Loved the video. ❤ You always pick the best music that fits the mood. Do you happen to remember the artist and track for the guitar outro? I'd like to try and learn it.
Yes, we really lucked out and seem to be there at the perfect time. It’s been a really dry summer in Alaska so I think there are fewer mosquitoes a normal.
What a great video of a fantastic adventure! The drone footage of the waterfall is epic. I loved seeing what the glacier looked like up close -- beyond what we could get to. I still don't see how you can approach it safely. At 10:45, is that more drone footage from down below? I didn't recognize the angle. Another fabulous video by a fab gal.
Oh yes that was where am I mode of drone flying looking towards the darkness as the sun went down, looking away from the waterfall. And a fab gal as a travel companion too
Hi Alice. Loved the video as always. I have a suggestion. When a friend joins you on an adventure, it would be nice to briefly introduce him or her to your "TH-cam friends". You would do that with two "friends" in real life, right?😀

Have you ever stayed in a National Forest Cabin? If so where and what was your favorite part?
are these free?
or do you need to reserve a spot for money there?
@@morfgo there is a fee around $40-55 a night depending on the cabin. Some are free in the greater Alaskan system but this one is not

Holy cow, this is beautiful! Thanks Alice!

I love that explanation. It’s sure does and even more magical to have it all to ourselves
Hi Alice 👋 Thank you 🙂 Never stayed in a National forest cabin, that would be cool 😎 though 👍
The public use cabins are all around the US. Check if there's are some near you.
@@tacrewgirl Thank you !🙂👍
Thanks for the big smiles Alice ! Taking the glacial river bath looks easier said than done .
Haha that was the coldest water I’ve ever touched
Wonderful footage!
Great editing!
Good info regarding glacier safety!!!
Thank you very much!

Always awesome stuff
Thank you so much
As always excellent!
Great shot of the river/valley during sunset! 👍
Thank you so much for watching
Never. At Glacier Point Yosemite my favorite part was staying up all nite stargazin. Did you see the Milky Way in Alaska?
Stargazing is amazing too. In alaska sadly no it’s light until so late at night I usually wasn’t up late enough to see stars

That’s really cool, yes it’s so unfortunate what the big cruises do to these teeny towns, certainly needs to be a bit better regulated
They say getting there is half the fun was it take care of yourself keep on enjoying life
It sure is!!

I Did go to Sitka, sadly I only got to explore the National Historic park but hopefully I’ll be back
Loved the video. ❤

I’ll have to look it up. Send me another note in a few days if I don’t respond, I may forget ;)
Cool adventure.. I did one of your adventures , Mt Morgan in Nh fun stuff🪨
Well welcome to my home town that’s awesome

I like these hiking videos!
It is quite surprising that there is no mosquitoes in the summer forest. Cooking a mountain house camping food will be ideal and delicious.
