Last month when we cruised Alaska we both were glad to have the private balcony. Just sitting watching the ocean and the scenery go by made the extra cost worthwhile. I to went to an Alaskan dog sled kennel, had breakfast at the red onion saloon and visited an indigenous village.
Yes!!! The private balcony is so worth it! There was nothing like waking up and stepping out onto the peace and privacy of the balcony to enjoy the Alaskan scenery. 😍 Sounds like we had a very similar experience in Skagway and Icy Strait Point- minus the breakfast at Red Onion Saloon haha. We certainly thought about it! 😁
Thanks for coming to my town! Skagway is a special place!
My family and I have made 2 trips to Alaska. The 1st (2006) was when we celebrated our 25th Anniversary along with my parents' 50th. We cruised along the same path that you have, ending at Seward and taking a train to Anchorage. Then flew back to Indianapolis, Indiana. Our second was in 2014, and we flew into Fairbanks. We traveled across Alaska for a week (train, bus, & steamboat), stopping overnight at several places; to Seward, where we boarded our cruise ship. Then we spent the 2nd week of our vacation cruising towards Vancouver, stopping at the places that you have. It is absolutely beautiful and your videos have brought back so many memories! No one can argue that there is no God, as we looked out on the Hubbard glacier, and more! Thank you so very much for sharing!
Thank you! This is the most helpful video I've seen on Skagway! You've convinced me to do the Lower Reid Falls hike. Can't wait to keep watching your other videos in this trip.
We still have our piece of cedar from the totem pole from our trip 6 years ago. I just put water on it yesterday and the smell is still heavenly!
So awesome!! You folks capture your adventures so exceptionally well! Claire, I love the eloquence with which you narrate. And Chad, your genuine exuberance makes us want to add all your adventures to our own bucket list!! Hope you never stop making these videos! Also, if you're ever in Hawaii (Oahu in particular) be sure to hit us up. We'd be more than happy to show you some "local secret spots".
We already missed Alaska like crazy, but y'alls gorgeous footage is making us miss it even more! The mountain views, the whales, the PUPPIES! 😍 It was super interesting to learn about the totem poles as well!
Alaska truly has it all!!! Not mentioned was the pass on trying the sourtoe cocktail hahahaha 🤣
Very well done video from my favorite place, Hoonah, with good knowledge of the native culture. Not too many visitors bother to go beyond shopping and zipliner.
I live in Juneau, but I think the best thing to do in Skagway is to take the White Pass Railroad trip. They had 2 when I was there , one went a long ways [about an 8 hour trip I think], and the other was a shorter turnaround trip [I think it was 4 hours]. We took the shorter one and it was great. Also the first woman to win the Iditarod, Libby Riddles, has been our summer tenant for many years. She has a show on the Princess Line here at Juneau during the summer.
We went on an Alaska Cruise in September. Two weeks round trip from Long Beach. So glad to have found your site to relive our visit to Skagway. You’re pros at making cruise videos and it shows. Your commentary exudes the excitement you felt.
I’m going to make my first cruise video with the footage I shot. It will pale in comparison to your work. You’ve got to start somewhere, right?
I subscribed and looking forward to sharing your other adventures. Edwin Bernard
Love the video. Brings back fond memories when I worked in Whitehorse, Yukon for the summer, but spent time in Alaska visiting. I was student, so could not afford the fancy cruise ships but I saw the VERY same sites cruising on the affordable Alaska State Ferry. My memories of Skagway was friendly locals, grisly bears eating salmon during the salmon run (literally in town), and a straw floor of the Red Dog Saloon at the Baranoff Hotel.
From Chad's brief moment of the Boogie Wonderland song, I think it's a song by Earth Wind & Fire
Wow..talk about the raw beauty of nature! If it didn't get so brutally cold with snow storms that destroy cities..I could live there. Maybe I can adopt a 🐶? Interesting how our not so distant history gets blemished when our resettlement injustices are revealed. Hopefully these lessons remain in our educational systems not buried because disjointed brains can't handle reality. Keep trekkin! Run with the puppies!
Hahaha that's exactly what we were thinking! I just really don't think we could survive the cold and darkness of the Alaskan winter! 🤣 Major kudos to those who can! We were glad that we had the opportunity to learn more about the re-location and re-education of the indigenous peoples, because often times, their stories and heart-breaking challenges aren't voiced enough in schools and in the media. It was a privilege to be able to talk to locals about their heritage and how they're working hard to keep it alive! 🤍
I agree about how sad it is that our educational system has been shattered by citizens who don’t believe in preserving historical truths and making it available to everyone in eternity.
Hi from Los Angeles! I'm legally blind artist. My husband and me mooved to California from Moscow , Russia. I like sunny weather , but when russian winter started , cold air was -25° 😅
Awesome video, you two! Brought back fun memories of our trip there years ago. Want a musical taste that will bring you back to the feel of gold rush? The ballad of st anns reel (John Denver); Ghost Town (CW McCall). Stay good fellow elves, Steve and James
I’m very grateful for your videos. I always feel such a deep sense of peace, calm & gratitude after watching. Can’t wait for the next one ❤❤
That's one of the greatest compliments we could ever get! 🥰 We always hope that our videos bring a sense of joy and peace to those watching, so thank you for sharing your gratitude! We hope you continue to enjoy all the many videos we create for this channel! 💗💗💗
Loved the pups. So cute.
Excellent editing!
So nice! Thanks for bringing us along! How was the walk from town to the Gold Rush Cemetery and Lower Reid Falls? Would you do it again, or take the shuttle bus next time?
I like that you on the last few videos, have chosen Scandinavian fiddle music. Similarity in nature. Alaska looks like a marvellous place
Wow, I absolutely love that you could tell exactly what kind of music that was! You have quite the ear and talent to decipher it. 😁It's very rare when people can pinpoint the kind of music I chose and why I chose to use it! 😉
Absolutely adorable & informative series Chad & Claire🎉 Love your channel💗
Thank you so much for watching and for your uplifting support towards what we do- it means the world to us both! 🥰
Great video
Another great video. So pretty there.
Thank you so much for watching!!! Alaska was such an easy place to film, because everywhere we turned was full of natural beauty! 😍
Sorry if you mentioned this already but can you tell me the month you went? Thanks for capturing the beauty!
Wow Guys,👨👩🌹 cool video of your Alaska cruise in Skagway. Love the huskies Thanks for sharing. " Alaska, the land of fast women , and beautiful dogs" 🐕🐕🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺🏃♀Cheers 🍸🍸🧔
Alaskan women can outrun any hooligan Alaska has to offer...hands down. 😁
Hahaha now that's a quote a haven't heard before!!! 😂 Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
@@carolmartin4413 I find that equally impressive and hilarious hahaha- Alaskan women are truly one-of-a-kind!!! 🤣
Great video 😊 love Alaska
Thank you so much! 🤍 We do, too! One of our favorite states in the U.S., for sure! 🥰
Were you on the Summit? We did the Hawaiian cruise back in 2007 on this ship.
i loved my disney cruise to alaska going to my second cruise to western carribean in 2024 i went on the railway
Oh, wow! I didn't even know there were Disney cruises going up to Alaska! 😍 I'll certainly have to look into that. We have yet to explore the Caribbean, so that's on our list as well! 😁
Where did you get the beanie Claire? I love it! And your videos also, hèhe!😊
Thank you so much!!! 💗 The dark green beanie was from Chad's high school wardrobe haha, and the golden yellow beanie was hand-embroidered by an 82-year-old woman in Slovenia! I picked it up in Ljubljana when were were there earlier this year! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it in the shop. 🤩
Which cruise ship line did you guys use again?
How much money do you need to save for this cruise?!
As an Alaskan, I always find it interesting how tourists wear winter like gear in the early fall or late spring. For us Alaskans, any time the temperature is over 55F we are waering t-shirts and at times short pants. Put my in the topic with no temperature above 80F and i am about to burst into flames because I am so hot.
This is so surreal this vid just popped up after a 40k vid and I’m like wait what why am I getting a tourist vid on my home down…
Thank you so much for joining us in Skagway and Hoonah! We had such a memorable experience in both of those towns, and Alaska just continued to take our breaths away as we kept exploring. In next week’s video, we’ll be taking you to Ketchikan, which was sadly our last stop on the Alaska cruise. There will be competing lumberjacks, jumping salmon, and so much more, so definitely stay tuned for an epic finale to this Alaska series! 🤗 See you next Saturday!
