Nacho’s with an extra side of guacamole, chicken as the protein.
I don’t cook food when backpacking I make an organic paste mixture then ration it each day. To me, personally, the dehydrated food is way over salted and attracts animals. Getting used to the mixture takes discipline but my body was happier and zero cramps.

Something with a lot of fat, like a bacon double cheeseburger and fries. And some ice cream. My body craves a dose of fat after a lot of exertion on low fat food. Not healthy to eat it all the time, but once in a while is fine.

I have found a well ventilated, wide toe box trail runner (Like ASICS Gel Venture) with merino wool socks to be my favorite hiking foot wear.
I’m not alone. Many hikers have moved away from boots. Not just to prevent blisters but a lighter weight shoe is less fatiguing than boots. Plus they dry out much faster.
I carry a few 5” strips of Leukotape K. If I feel a hot spot I immediately stop and put a piece of Leukotape on it. With this arsenal I haven’t had a blister in many years.
Another great video. Keep ‘em coming.
Love the light weight cook kit. I’ll bet it’s lighter than a jetboil.

Wow, that was very cool, Alice. Too many things to comment on! That has to be the most treacherous trail I’ve seen. Sooo many obstacles. And the ladders, lol. And more ladders. I’ll bet those things are slick when they’re wet.

Gordon River isn't the finish line because the trail continues around the edge of the bay to Port Renfrew through muddy trails for at least another 10 KM maybe more, so we just signalled the boatman at Gordon River and took the short cut water taxi across in the shuttle which back in 79 was just a speed boat.

I did do a 10 mile trek thru the woods once, it was great, nothing bad happened but there were no trails and at the end I did realize it wouldn't take much to go wrong (no cell phones then) for me to just disappear. I also grouse hunt, have deer hunted but a few bucks later not really that interested. I love the wild, especially the landscapes, I am getting older so the woods is more of a concern for me personally, I guess I've seen enough in the wild to question what I am doing vs a picture next to a bison in Yellowstone or better yet seeing how close I can get to a grizzly or a black bear (wth.)

You gave me goosebumps Alice. Splendid filming, really like the opening shot from above and throughout the hike. Have you got sock liners before getting there? You mentioned something about blisters while beach walking almost barefoot. You did very well in 6 days. I am returning (for good I hope this time) to the West Coast soon. I miss the area, the coastline and foggy weather... and I have to do Cape Scott. Its a bit easier than the WCT but the scenery is like being at the end of the world. Which is in a sense. Stay beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

"backpacker obstacle course" - i agree, it would have been more challenging if it had been raining a lot, ladders, boardwalks, logs would have much more slipperier. You might want to do some research into getting some jungle boots, they have vent holes to let the water out, rot resistant leather & nylon material, the knock-off boots are cheaper and cost around $35, the ones the military are using are made by Altama , for this trail they would have worked well, 2 types of traction designs, the panama type sheds mud & clay faster, the diamond type would give better grip on logs and typical trail conditions. You did a great job and some viewers might forget that for every trail shot, you have to go back and retrieve the camera & tripod. South Manitou island holds some record size trees for Michigan and i think maybe the country, largest white cedar tree, you can catch a ferry to the island from Leeland.
