    Thanks Ben this is great. I’ve found though that when I’ve shot with backing paper in the past, the light from my key light and fill light drown out the colour light projected onto my backdrop. Is this just because the key and fill lights are too close to the backdrop? My problem is that there’s not an awful lot of space between the backdrop and the wall in front that I’m facing, so I can’t put the lights to far away from the backdrop. Any ideas?

    Question: let's say I have this roller system. What background colors should I get? I'm trying to pick 3 out of pure white, cream(beige/ivory), light grey, dark grey, black, green.
    Regardless of the rgb light, I'm talking about the paper color.

      If you want to be able to use lights to change the color than definitely get grey
      Other than that it’s just preference

    If you saved a picture of each we could all use them with a green screen as they are nice backgrounds. This would save people lots of work. You do not have the blue background available anywhere do you?

      Green screen lighting is quite a bit different but I plan to do a video on this topic soon and may try to include backdrop images there

    Thank you for the help. I love the effect with the lights. If I didn’t get the lights and had a green screen back drop could i achieve the same color effects?

    • @benjohnsoncreative
      @benjohnsoncreative  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Green screens really are a different thing, you could achieve getting a colored background with a green screen, but they are harder to make look good

    My intention is to paint one of the walls in my studio with neutral gray, another dark gray (charcoal?) and the other two maybe, white to help with illumination.

    • @benjohnsoncreative
      @benjohnsoncreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're wanting to use one of those walls as a background with RGB lights I'd recommend a grey similar to this and matte/flat paint to avoid shine. White doesn't work as well for the saturation of the colors

    I'm diving into shooting stock footage of people showing different emotions. It's very time consuming to go out and shoot so I want to have a controlled environment as well with light and my sonyA73 on sticks.

    Where did you buy the aluminum roller bars to mount the roller paper on? I have seen these listed on Amazon for about $50 per aluminum bar. If I get a 4 roller setup, that is $200, just for those. How much cheaper can you get them at Home Depot or somewhere else? Also, does anyone know the exact dimensions that the bar needs to be (like the diameter of the inside and outside of the bar)? Appreciate any help or suggestions!

      Mine is a 2inch diameter tube. I got it at Home Depot many years ago
