Just recently discovered your channel and I can't help but appreciate the effort you're putting in these videos. They're simple, unassuming, and your thoughtfulness and passion oozes out. I know, I'm watching someone who's genuine and really wants to help out. Thanks a lot for doing what you do!
Your videos about filming are great. Of course, I don't have anywhere near your skill or equipment. But your basic tips are helpful. I'm often just too excited and disorganized. But I'll keep at it.
@@thefilmalliance I have, just not with the black sheet/blanket in the backdrop like you. But you KNOW I’ll be implementing that from now on in my dark setup. Thx!
Found your channel today... Can't stop watching your videos. Been looking to find ways to up my interview abilities and your videos are amazing. Thank you.
Appreciate you showed us using a house lamp. For us using a ZV-1 and that’s the camera we only have, chances are we don’t own the professional lighting system so thank you!
Was on the fence weather to get a black background set. However, my current is a green screen which I can turn to into a digital black background when I need to. I do art demos, and need to place myself as an inset on the corner when demonstrating so there’s always connection with my audience.
Man you just saved a huge amount of money for me as well as my nerves. I was gonna construct kinda cyclorama but BAM here found your video. Thanks a lot! Peace! Love!
Outstanading Joe! Thanks a million for sharing. I don't know if others noticed it, but your audio in the garage is excellent. No echo/reverb. How did you accomplish that? Most helpful video. Also, in a couple of videos you said, "This is film from the Joe Alliance...didn't know if you were just having fun or checking to determine if others noticed... Peace and hope.
Hey there. Thank you, I am glad you are getting value from my videos. Explaining the audio would be alot. Making a video out of it would be a great idea. What do you think? Also, I was just messing around hahaha. Which video did I do that in again?
@@thefilmalliance Making a video dealing with improved audio is always needed. I don't remember which two videos as I watched 4 or 5 of them back-to-back. Be well.
I'm finding your videos very informative and simple enough to inspire me to give video a real try. I'm starting from scratch, so I'm going have to start by working on my shopping list. Thanks for all the links - it makes the process less overwhelming.
This was really helpful. I did worry that someone would to to pull into the garage. My friend bought me a green screen. I might replace the green sheet with black
I recently bought the Sony ZV-E10, and this camera has a large number of features / settings. I am new to videography so am learning as much as possible. The environment I am filming in is even darker than yours (only one side of the face is lit - so, very dramatic). What would you recommend I use for a picture profile? PP10? I am experimenting between 2,400K (preferable) and 5,500K at 10% or 20% brightness. And also, do you suggest I use 50fps instead of 25fps (PAL)? I am also learning DaVinci Resolve, so yeah, my brain is on fire 😂 Thanks :)
A to Z tutorial in just 10 mins? You need to change the title to 'Convert your garage into a professional studio'. Seriously! The black background is just the tip of the iceberg in this video. Excellent video with a wrong title! Please change the title so that it can move up the algorithm and help others. Thank you.
@@thefilmalliance I learned about that Art/Cinematography technique from a TH-camr Ben Farrell's excellent breakdown of the video style of another TH-camr; 'This Old Tony's production style. Very worth the time, but of you get pulled down a rabbit hole of dad jokes, visual gags, and machining don't blame me.
@@thefilmalliance I am a musician but I am sharpening my video skills, so I can do my own music videos. I will definitely use this technique for one of my songs. It is really amazing what you can do with a small camera, nice lens, and a backdrop. It takes time to acquire some knowledge and practice, but hey, all of this was available only to a selected few who had money, label, etc... and now it is almost free.
@@thefilmalliance More for filmmaking at the moment... This "Season" I am focusing on long form sleep videos while I work on my studio "Live" setup. I have found so much help from your channel, thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial. I’m confused though. Around 8:18 you say you’re showing us what the video looks like straight out of camera and not using any color profiles, but all of the sample footage shows a wipe to a much better look. What did you do to get that “after” look? Thanks
i want to record guitar playing videos, and since i dont have a cool studio looking room behind me like so many youtubers do, it seems this would be an even better cleaner option right?
Great tips. Thanks for posting. I always find black backgrounds to be more dramatic compared to light ones. Would you also use similar principles for a deep red ( burgundy) or deep purple colour?
Cool vid but the house lamp result is way too dark. Why didn't you add a hair/back light? That would have made the whole thing 100 times better. I def would have 😀
Yes, but you would have to download an exposure app so that you could control how the light is hitting the iPhone camera sensor. Do you have a professional camera?
@@thefilmalliance I don't have a professional camera just an iPhone 12 max. I used the link you shared and bought the backdrop last week after the watched your video. Do you have an exposure app that you recommend?
