  • Plants can add a special ambiance to any home or space, but the trick is being skilled enough at keeping them alive and healthy. This feat can be mastered by anyone and it largely comes down to the first step - choosing the right one.
“Shopping for plants is sort of like buying art…it’s very much an emotional purchase for a lot of people,” Rooted NYC said to HYPEBEAST. Alongside the houseplant specialist, botany pros from The Sill and Hot Cactus broke down five of the main stages for selecting and grooming plants.
One of the biggest factors is determining which plants you can best cater to based on the different lighting requirements, which typically entails three main categories: low to medium light, bright but indirect light, and bright light. Once that aspect is established, details like picking out pots, regularly re-potting, and learning the do’s and don’ts can help ensure the growth process is a success.
Take a quick crash course in how to buy and take care of plants by watching the HBTV video above, in which Rooted NYC, The Sill and Hot Cactus share a few crucial tips.
