I get really nervous when people have very old rare plants....never know what's been poached and what you're supporting ...selling old plants is a bad idea gives the public the idea that they can just get old rare and endangered plants....
P S, Basically, instead of having to pay full price to buy something you need (an object, a tool) - you can have it only when you need it and pay a lot less. For example: you need a tool that you will only need *once,* instead of buying it, for tens/hundreds of dollars, you can pay 5$ or something and use it that one time you need and return it to the Tool Library. Not only you economize a lot of money, but it also is way more ecologically sustainable, since we won't have each to own every single tool we ever need, we won't need to waste garage space for those tools, etc. We'll just have one of these Libraries in our town, and we could come there and get whatever tool we need in order to get any job done.
POINT MAN Not here in CA, that's for sure! My tiny house that isn't in great condition is probably going to sell for 1.4 million or maybe a little more 🤣😅🤤😱
How many of those plants are poached? Poaching is one of the reasons rare plants go extinct. I hope he making efforts to verify that his plants are obtained legally.
maybe its non self-fertile or dioecious or maybe the selffertilized seeds are very weak. also cutting would be very risky. if it doesnt work out u can lose the whole plant to a disease.
I like to use my plants as decor and also of course making sure it has all it needs like light food and water. What’s wrong with treating it like decor that way you can really showcase the plant
Those are not rare and i used to have that long spiney cactus and i over water it. Cuddex plant maybe bec i never really seen it in person but those expensive cactuses u got there is not rare at all.
I'm sure you'd know more than a scientist who's invested years of his life studying this particular species of cactus. They are rare, you didn't have one, and the elephantipes grow from a caudex, not whatever you're saying. No one said every plant in that shop is rare; they said quite the opposite. They just don't sell to people like you who overwater.
I totally agree I use to have some of those and because of not watering nicely It didn't go well imagine a cactus so small and petite sold for 2k but u can get in a big box store for few dollars and still look amazing and big
I worked in a specialized cactus shop. We accomplished to get tenuis seed and grew them. I can tell you H. tenuis is very rare and I highly doubt you have seen one in your lifetime.
imma groaw a cactus like that to pay my debt
For a cactus noob it'd be easier to just work for the money.
@@hexerey cactuses are literally one of the easier plants to grow, what are you talking about. Sure, reasearch - google is your friend

They should get some fertile seeds from that cactus and grow more of them
You clearly have no plan of cacti huh?
My God, youre a genius!
From what I know, cactus give no seeds.
You have to cut the top part of the cactus, and re-plant it for it to grow again.
@@mikasam4510 that is wrong :) all vascular plants produce flowers or better called inflorescences, including all cacti.
@@mikasam4510 Cacti do produce seeds after they flower. Most types of cactus will need to be pollinated to produce seeds.

if its going extinct why not just propagate it from seed or cuttings

Good thinking,
but he is high-nosed.
And they say, Money doesn't grow on trees.
They need to cut it into 50 plants and go plant them in the wild
Well at least you'll earn all that money back from not having to water it
