How Much Does It Cost to Build a 732 WHP Subaru WRX?

  • This has been asked numerous times now if I will put out a build list and cost breakdown for the STI Swapped 2014 Subaru WRX Hatch So we're doing it. The car did outstanding on the Dyno and made fantastic power. On E85 the Subartu Made 732 WHP / 605 WTQ on a Baderbuilts Mustang Dyno! Now a lot of people were asking how much would this cost if they were to do it and I think you Might be surprised by the final number. One Way I am able to keep the costs lower on these builds is by being able to DIY almost everything that we have done to the car from the Engine build to the rotated kit on the Subaru WRX!

    As someone who is currently sti swapping a wrx, I highly recommend buying a wrecked sti if you have space for it. I've made the purchase price back from selling parts off of it and I get to keep the entire drivetrain, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and engine essentially for free. Just takes time, patience, and garage space!

And because they weigh so little if you do swap an EJ into it, it will hang with much faster cars with much less power.

    Hello Sir,
    I love your channel and have been following along for a long time leading up to my purchase of a 2021 STI. I was hoping i could get you to address a few of my concerns. Recently my car was being worked on for a recall involving the back up camera. During the repair i was told a stud on the catalytic converter that bolts to the turbo was broken. According to the dealership this is a common occurrence as the constant heat cycling makes them brittle. As this is a common occurrence i inquired for the cost of a new catalytic converter and was told there are two on this model, an upper and lower. The lower in the normal location which is normally priced, and the one they broke which costs a staggering $9,000.00. So, as it is common upgrade to replace the downpipe.... Is that secondary catalytic converter required for emissions? Do they really cost such an exorbitant price? If yes, what can be done about this? I simply do not have that much disposable money to throw at a single component that can become brittle and break after a one year of normal driving.
    Thank you

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why were they even messing with the downpipe? Those studs do not easily break nor is it common for them to break off or become "brittle". Especially on a 2021. And $9000 is absolutely absurd! The OEM part for that Cat is SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER. That dealership is trying to scam you or theyrr just teying to make a quick buck. If it's not leaking I wouldent sweat it. If it is leaking, take it to an exhaust shop and just have them replace the stud. Shouldent cost more than $40 to fix 🤝

Also excited to see what it'll hold, I'm just doing stock turbo, sti pinks and some type of upgraded fuel pump, what do you suggest? Also did new stock valves, stock cams, stock size head studs, and external wastegate. Bought a td06 20g I think is too big for it, do you think a td05 or modified td04l is better for the 207?

    I bought a 2010 Impreza Outback Sport last year for my first car, I wanted to ask if I wanted to make power would it be better to save for a DOHC EJ or to try to make some N/A power out of the stock engine? ( Stock is a SOHC EJ with 140,000 Miles ) I was into Subarus when I first bought the car but I didn't know much about them.
    Long term plan is to put a Fenderist body kit, BC Coils, and a STI 6 speed, axle, diff, etc swap, and hopefully 400 whp. Just wanted some input on my idea ( whether its better to save for an STI or WRX or to keep the plan ).
