As someone who is currently sti swapping a wrx, I highly recommend buying a wrecked sti if you have space for it. I've made the purchase price back from selling parts off of it and I get to keep the entire drivetrain, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and engine essentially for free. Just takes time, patience, and garage space!
The WRX hatch is my favorite build that I have seen on the Smeedia channel!! All the STI swapped parts, all the performance parts, all the custom work...this hatch is sick!!

I know a common build for the bugs is to swap an ej in them and I'd LOVE to see that build on your channel! It's still a subie motor but a new and unique platform to learn about that has amazing potential! Just an idea 😁
@@Smeedia there great! My 66 has a pitiful little 1300 50 horse motor but it's one of those things where you don't drive to go fast you drive it to enjoy the ride it's so fun to cruise in! At what power level and what cams does adding the process west start to have a positive affect? After aggressive cams? After bigger turbo? After intake and exhaust?
In reality if your shooting for a Power goal north of 600WHP that's when I would consider adding a manifold. Weather it is PW, AMS etc. Cams you'll see an effect as soon they go in.
Hello Sir, I love your channel and have been following along for a long time leading up to my purchase of a 2021 STI. I was hoping i could get you to address a few of my concerns. Recently my car was being worked on for a recall involving the back up camera. During the repair i was told a stud on the catalytic converter that bolts to the turbo was broken. According to the dealership this is a common occurrence as the constant heat cycling makes them brittle. As this is a common occurrence i inquired for the cost of a new catalytic converter and was told there are two on this model, an upper and lower. The lower in the normal location which is normally priced, and the one they broke which costs a staggering $9,000.00. So, as it is common upgrade to replace the downpipe.... Is that secondary catalytic converter required for emissions? Do they really cost such an exorbitant price? If yes, what can be done about this? I simply do not have that much disposable money to throw at a single component that can become brittle and break after a one year of normal driving. Thank you
Why were they even messing with the downpipe? Those studs do not easily break nor is it common for them to break off or become "brittle". Especially on a 2021. And $9000 is absolutely absurd! The OEM part for that Cat is SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER. That dealership is trying to scam you or theyrr just teying to make a quick buck. If it's not leaking I wouldent sweat it. If it is leaking, take it to an exhaust shop and just have them replace the stud. Shouldent cost more than $40 to fix 🤝
Nice build! I'm debating modifying my 19 sti but no where near that much. 400 would be realistic in my shoes. Labor/parts prices scare my butt silly but hopefully what I go with isn't too bad in the future

About 5500 RPM 🙏
I bought a 2010 Impreza Outback Sport last year for my first car, I wanted to ask if I wanted to make power would it be better to save for a DOHC EJ or to try to make some N/A power out of the stock engine? ( Stock is a SOHC EJ with 140,000 Miles ) I was into Subarus when I first bought the car but I didn't know much about them.
Long term plan is to put a Fenderist body kit, BC Coils, and a STI 6 speed, axle, diff, etc swap, and hopefully 400 whp. Just wanted some input on my idea ( whether its better to save for an STI or WRX or to keep the plan ).
How much power are you trying to make? 👀 tbh DOHC is better, imo over the SOCH
For 400whp Turbo DOHC is the way
I figured that a DOHC would be better I just wasnt sure. Thanks for the input, also love the content keep it up.
I know you said the blobeye has a drive axle thing, I am curious what the problem is and how you know it's driveshaft? I got some clunking on my 04 I can't figure out and am looking into driveshaft noises
It was in the wrx, my carrier bearing for the driveshaft came loose because I forgot to put the bushings in 😅
For sale very soon to a marketplace near you haha
Nah, but people keep blowing up my DMs trying to buy it 😅
How do you feel about a non dccd v7 sti 6 speed? Only reason I’m even considering it is cause mines a bug and it’s period correct and I think they hold the same power but I don’t know
Tbh I have 0 experience with the non DCCD trans so I couldn't give you a good answer 🙏
How much power can I put on my block?? NPR hyperutectic pistons, king bearings, oem crank??
Hey bro, do you just do youtube to make money? or you got another job as well. just curious how you build these beautiful subies. You should do a Forester build! keep up the great work 👏🏻👏🏻

I hope my 04 wrx can make 500 some day
One day at a time you'll get there 🔥💪
What about engine management, with Cobbs green speed is this on haltech/standalone or Ecutek?
I thought you put the tune on your Accessport and are just are dealing with check engine lights?
Negative 🫡
@@Smeedia what is it tuned on then EcuTek? Or open source? If so how do you change maps for E85, a Tactrix and computer? Then what program?
What would the 0-60 and quarter mile be on something like your beautiful wrx?
What welder/setup are you running in your garage??
Vulcan pro tig from harbor freight 🤝
@@Smeedia Aye, nice I’ve heard good things on those. I just ordered the Everlast 185 ac/dc tig welder. Super pumped to get some fab practice under my belt. You’ve been a huge inspiration for me and pursuing things I’ve always wanted to learn. Your an Absolute unit in the DIY and you have quality builds. 🤙🏽🔥
