For your next video could you talk about lures? how a lure decides what pokemon to spawn. If it's related to the level of the player placing the lure/the environement/the nearby pokemon/the amount of cellular activity at the lure

+Walrai the reason i asked this question was because there is this park i go to a lot and it has 3 lures next to eachother and some days those 3 lures will give nothing but pidgeys,rattatas,weedles,venonats,spearows and other days like 2 days ago, they suddenly become good, had 2 slowbros, a weepinbell, a squirtle, a dratini, an electabuzz, a ryhorn and then some slowpokes, staryus and seel. It's so weird how it changes so much randomly
+BurgerPwner tbh I feel like it depends on the amount of people using the Lure, I've used multiple Lures but really haven't got anything good, the best I got was a Starmie but it's CP was around the 200s . There was a place that I stayed for a while that had 3 Pokestops all next to each other, I put Lures and all 3 of them and I kept getting Zubats, Weedles, Eevees, Caterpies, etc. There was less than 5 people using the Lure that I put on and I felt like if there were more people , then I would've got better Pokemon. Look at Santa Monics Pier, there is so many people at every Pokestop with Lures on and they get way better stuff than I did with my 3 Lures next to each other. So in my opinion, it all comes down to the amount of people using that Lure to increase your chance at Rare Pokemon.

Same thought. When I saw a Blastoise and only had GreatBalls left, I kept giving Razz after the Ball so it won't flee. Gladly, I caught it after a bunch of tries. :D
I think it's like the same concept with the Pokemon Game in Safari Forest when you give them berries, so I think a really slight increase in capture rate perhaps? Well, I don't really know how the berries affect them in the game tbh. xD

If you throw a berry, miss the catch, repeat three times and the fourth time you don't throw one, the berries are not helping anymore. Maybe.
Not true. I went to an Abra nest and even with berries everytime, Abra will 100% run away if you don't catch it in the first throw.

The game needs a major update ASAP. Battling gyms isn't even worth it bc there's nothing but the same Mons in them. It's hard to defend them. Catching Pokemon gets boring after a while. We need more items. There's just so much more that has to be in this game. It's so stale.

It was my understanding that razzberries increase the chance of them not running when they escape the pokeball...
I've always felt this too. I don't think i've ever had a runner after using a berry. Only lasts for one hit though; then if you really want to keep the 'mon there, you've got to berry him again.
I used 2 razz berries on a lapras, it still ran away.

i have thrown a straight ball but the game registered it as a curve ball and i got exp XD
the spinning graphics indicates curveball bonus.. if the spinning ball ended its graphics whilst throwing it you will not get the curveball bonus.. should spin it enough til it landed on the pokemon..
Has anyone noticed that Pidgeys are harder to catch now? Been like this for a couple weeks now, they break out and run a LOT more

Stupid question, I've been wondering for a while, whe you give a Razz Berry to a Pokemon, will it only be effective for the next throw or until you either catch the Pokemon or it flees?

It's for the next three throws until u hit the Pokemon with your pokeball
If you can use a rasberry again, the effect is worn off. If you cant use it, it will say the effect is still on. I do not know the exact science but it might be just one successful hit (so when the pkmn doesnt go in, the effect is still on)

Caught a dragonair at my aunt's cookout today :) I was taking my younger niece walking with me for some pidgeys, maybe a eevee, I was about to head back inside cause the 90 F (32 C) was getting too much when he asks me "what's this thing on the tracker?" I look at mine and practically yell "That's a dragonair!" Used every trick I could and it still took about 15 great balls (dont have ultra unlocked). So nerve wracking every single time it broke out hoping it wouldn't flee. (ps, awesome video as always!)
Nick looked back and turned back to Pokemon so fast. Gave no f%cks about what cops were doing.

You don't have to live in a nest, just in Southern California. Growlithes are relatively common around here; they account for about 4% of my catches. We assume it's a climate thing; we get lots of ground, rock, poison, and fire types around here, but relatively few bug, grass, and water types (unless you go to the beach).
Growlithe is common where I live too haha

not true. you still encounter high cp evolved pokemon in the wild. doesnt matter if the iv and moveset is shit,its just another body for a gym.
probably started to notice more quality evolved wild pokemon around lvl 27. By quality i mean close to 2k.

I`m from Brazil, lv28 at the moment, and I search for good pokemon go videos all the time, and I can say for sure, your videos are the best there are out there, they are helpful and objective. Really nice to watch. =)
From my experience playing a good amount of time (I'm a level 27 south american player), throwing as close as possible to the center of the circle, no matter what size the inner colored circle is, will increase your chances of capture. Maybe my perception is not accurate, but most of my well centered throws, whether excellent, great or whatever, got good results. Hope this can be helpful. Btw, great job with the vids. Keep it up!
Hi Nick. Big fan of your vids. This ep has shed a lot of light in capture rates. Can I also ask if Nice/Great/Excellent throws affect capture, or is it merely for the bonus XP. Also, does your trainer level affect the capture rate as well?

I think the thing about glowing ring size is not quite right. As I understand it, the people who have dissected the code say there's a capture bonus for getting a nice/great/excellent throw. You get the nice/great/excellent throw by hitting inside the glowing ring, and the quality of the throw depends on the size of the ring when you hit it. A big ring (larger than about 2/3 full size) gets a nice throw, smaller than about 1/4 full size is excellent, and anything between is great. That's what they mean when they say throwing when the glowing ring is smaller helps your capture chance; it gives you a better throw bonus if you hit.
This is tremendously helpful because it tells you when to throw. I have good enough aim I can get a great throw almost every time now that I know how to time my throws. That gives me a big increase in capture rate, which means I can often get away with using regular Pokeballs rather than great- or ultraballs. The XP bonus is really helpful, too.

Hey Nick, I always thought that hitting inside the circle was how you get nice, great, and excellent throws. If you land the ball inside the circle when it's big, you get nice. When it's medium sized, you get great, and if you land it inside when it's really small that's how you get excellent. That's how I do it and I always aim for greats, and it works all the time.
Every time Dante is in your videos, I have an overwhelming feeling to watch Hook.
+TrainerTips the Raspberry i believe reduces the amount of times the wild pokemon does it's animation to smack the Pokeball away.
I don't think it increases the catching rate percentage, but technically it does help you catch it easier.

Loved this video. Great information. 2 questions ...1. Previously we were told that every time you capture a Pokémon in the ball, it weakens it a little so it will be easier to catch if it escapes. You didn't mention that in the video. Is that still believed to be true or is that old, wrong information?2. Can you sometime address what makes a Pokémon run away? I know there are multiple reason. For example, it seems that moving away from the spawning point is one of the factors. We used an incense while driving today. A Pokémon spawned every minute. We caught the first Pokémon on the first throw and it stayed in the ball. After that, every Pokémon we caught escaped and immediately ran away. It didn't matter if it was red, orange, yellow, or green. (We were driving on the Interstate and there were no Pokémon to capture so we thought the incense would let us play the game. Turned out to be a bad idea. It was just a giant waste of Pokeballs and an incense.)Thanks ... The Thor Family
my experience, on something hard to capture if you do manage an excellent hit, they will often break out to mock you, and not give you the extra XP

Hey Nick, hitting the pokeball in the colored ring is what gives you a nice, great, or excellent throw. for example, hitting it at its largest gave you a nice throw, but compared to hitting the ring at its smallest would give you an excellent throw

It has been my experience that landing a curve ball, inside the colored circle, even when it's wide open, gives a much higher chance of successfully capturing the pokemon. I've been doing this mostly for pokemon that I don't care *that* much if I catch, but are not totally easy to catch. High level pidgeys, for example. I think any time where an experience bonus is able to be awarded for the throw, your chances are higher.
When you told the kids you were putting the lure on the pokestop, that was the best.
I expected this to be just a pokemon go tip channel, but it I am way impressed by your vlogging skills!
Noticed you did not mention how Raspberries need to be re-loaded every time a Pokemon escapes a ball, and that when you used yours that one time, you did not re-load it after it broke out of the ball.
