The Australian army used Stuarts in the PTO during WW2, I think there should be decals available for an Australian version. Thanks Andy for the tutorial and kit review. A lot of surplus Stuarts and Matilda 2 were sold to farmers after the war.
Tamiya have always been great kits. I grew up as a model kit builder, but haven't since the late 70's. I have built some of their tanks kits from them and have been impressed by them. Glad to see they have not gotten cheaper on their kits.
Dear Andy,
This is my favorite modeling site...love the music!
I built this kit a couple weeks ago while vacationing in Texas. Bought it and built it in a day from start to finish; it was a pleasure to build. and with the right paints and weathering, it comes out as a great looking rendition of a Stuart Light tank.
Stumbled across this video. I am an old modeler from the '70's as a kid. Tamiya was probably my favorite company for their detail and quality. I wonder if they still have the waterline ship kits, loved those. Easily sat thru this whole enjoyable video. Brought back some great memories as a kid and made me wish you had a shop in Missoula, I'd be there in a minute, lol.
Thanks for that ... looking forward to it coming out. Must be a great feeling of recognition for your work and success when manufacturers choose you to receive pre production kit to get the word out. Well done Andy.
It certainly goes together easier than the ones I built in the 80's. Since I'm just now getting back into Historic Armor models again, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Subscribed!
Love the choice of music Andy! Also good to see Tamiya finally fixed their Stuart Tracks!!! The original Stuarts had tracks that had the end connectors molded completely on each track pad instead of connecting to the next pad...
Andy, watching your videos is like therapy for me in a chaotic world 😊
(Husband here) Andy I love it. I didn't know that lil squirt could look so good but you made it happen. My hats off to you. Thanks.
Another winner of a video. I enjoy your builder's hints and tips as well as when you point out any problem areas. Looks to be a great kit and I must add it to my collection.
Yes!! Finally a newer Stuart from Tamiya. I’ve built several of the older kits, looking forward to this one.
.
A lot of white boxes you get! I would be so exited if I was you to see what tank it is! Overall great video and lovely build. I'll look out for it when it comes out. Thanks Andy!
I haven't built a plastic model in decades however I really appreciate you using 'Blue Danube' hats off to you Sir!!!
andy i just discovered your channel after getting back into the hobby after doing this with my dad many years back. so informative , i’m doing this very same model currently and this video has helped me tremendously thank you
Oh man oh man oh man, I can’t wait to get this kit. I love Stuarts
This is the first I've heard of Tamiya Markfit strong, but it sure beats shooting a flat then a gloss and then another flat. Thanks for the tip--a real time saver. Looks great!
Great detail for 1/35 model. excellent work.
Nicely done, Andy! Tamiya's original kit, of course, had major problems with the tracks. Like the original Lee/'Grant, the track ends were molded even with the link ends instead of connecting the links -- these ones look lovely and they're grumble.
You did a lovely job -- no one should. Should be afraid to tackle this kit.
Cheers!
Well thanks Andy it’s nearly midday here in Melbourne and I’m buggered from working night shift when I saw this video pop up on TH-cam. Guess I’ll get some sleep in half an hour. Keep up the great work mate, love the channel. 👍👍👍👍😊
I built this kit about a year ago and it is a wonderful build
This one looks great. Soooo much better than their original "toy". A lot easier build than the Academy. Very "pretty" build/paint. Well done video (always). Thanks much.
The old tamiya kit is 40 years old and most probably motorised as well so it should be better . It is nice to see them redo some of the old kits I only hope they replace the M3 (lee/Grant) soon.
The 40 year old Stuart was never motorized.
Hi Andy just started modelling again after recovering from illness and watching your videos keep them coming
Great video, & nice kit. Wish tamiya would do a remake of some of the other older armor kits, such as the OLD panther ausf.A kit. Thanks.
Looks great Andy. It looks like you may have forgot to paint the taillights. Don’t forget those!😃 Cannot wait to see the weathering video. Thanks!
I done my Takom m3 lee cast hull in the same yellow star fort Knox decals the yellow really makes the difference doesn't it! That's really nice never seen one without the gun sheild on turret I like that one!
Can’t wait to get this.good to see high speed build footage back.love watching the buildups
You really did this Stuart Justice, Good job Andy!
as always nice video ...
Andy: Just to let you and your viewers know the version of the M3 with the machinegun sponsons was also used by the US Army in combat. That was the version the 192nd and 194th Tank Battalions used fighting in the Philippines from December 1941 to April 1942. This M3 version, with machinegun sponsons, were the first US tanks to engage in tank vs. tank combat in WWII. So you can build either variant and it can still be a US tank.
Very nice result. Looks like a major improvement over their 1st offering. Thanks Andy
Your choice of music is really good, classical is where its at
andy I found your site day I forget what I was looking for but your review came up I am impressed by how you cover the high and low points of the subjects kept up the good work have a nice day see ya on TH-cam your's Bruce Robinson.
The reason this kit contains windshields is because on the real steel stuart the armor below the turret raises similar to a half track and reveals the windshields
Excellent video !! Congrats, just a remark the two side canisters are the engines (some version had 2 gas engines) Air Filters !!
Thanks for posting this build video. This kit is at the top of my want to buy list.
Fantastic work Andy. Really enjoy your videos.
Looks like a proper Stuart! I wonder how far behind a Tamiya M5A1 and Honey will be?
So happy this one is out now!
Great job on the Stuart. Just like a Tamiya kit....shake n bake. Too bad you didn't not use the kit figure.
Bill
Hi Andy, Thought you might want to know what you called the muffler is actually the air intake filters. Nice build I will add this one to my stash.
Looks great, wish they would make the holes in the MG barrels a little deeper. So many new Tamiya 1/35 kits, its a great time in modelling
Quite often the background or accompanying music can make or break a video. At 6:10 and beyond I am grateful for such lovely sounds. All of which are old favorites from grade school field trips. While watching this video I took a gander at my remaining Tamiya 1/35th Stuart I built Christmas 1979. It too is an early riveted model. *Question: did you make radio antenna by heating up sprue and stretching same? That's how I made mine.* Thanks 4 the memories.
Great looking kit. I have the old one in the box. Still a great deal at
Just started mine. It was all green.
Love your videos. I just wish you would wait until closer to the release date to show the builds of the pre-production kits. I forget about them by the time they are available. Thanks.
Excellent build Andy!
Looking forward to this kit.
Nice job Andy. Excited to think that Tamiya is redoing some of their early kits. Would like to see them redo their M8
That shop looks awesome to browse!
Great video.Love watching and picking up tips on building.
Excellent! Can't wait to get my hands on this one.
I *just* built the old version of the Tamiya M3. This one looks so much better.
Can't wait to build this kit.
Love this store
Were the two pieces on the front with the plugs in them on properly? One was closer to the outside of the hull, one was closer to the hatch....
Thank you. Lovely model..great music
Love your work and helpful advice - very much appreciated.
When will you finish the Takon Panther factory diorama?
Phillip Rhodes he sold it
Very glad you covered this, thank you!
This kit give justice to one of the most important allied tanks, it's genial doing two helmets for the Commander! Naturally with a Little work and scratcbuilding one could also build an 8th army Honey with their 3 colours camo.
Looks like a must have kit! Hopefully they do the M5 and the M8 HMC eventually.
Thank you Andy.
Looks great Andy.
always liked the stuart!
I can't listen to The Blue Danube anymore without thinking of the Pan Am space liner coming into dock at the giant cartwheel space station in 2001, but very nice.
To be honest I quite like the colour of the styrene they've used here, wouldn't be such a bad thing to leave it that colour.
By the way, did you work out what the 2 transparent panels were for? A guess would be they go under those two armour plates on the front of the tank.
That’s pretty nice Andy! I really like your videos, I’ve learned quite a bit watching you build military stuff! I’ve never built any military vehicles, well except for one P-40 Flying Tiger when I was a kid and I think it was 1/48th scale , not for sure on that since it’s been a long time ago!?! But, you put me in the frame of mind to start building military vehicles, cannot believe I never built any! I guess it’s never too late to start, right? Better late than never! My skills would probably be a lot better than they are now if I’d had been doing those all along! Thank you for inspiring me! 👍👍 Well, Kenny May got me inspired to start building models again, originally, but watching you got me inspired to start building the military vehicles and planes, etc., etc.!
Hi Andy, great build! Are you ever going to do a figure painting series?
How did you paint the rubber on the wheels if you put them on the tank before they were painted?
Always great to see a 1/35 armour kit from Tamiya, but jeez couldn't we have another Panther?
Great video! I'm up for a new Stuart! I don't know if you remember me? I used to come into your shop in El Cajon, CA. I 'm still building. I'm more focused on armor than ever before. Good to see your doing well.
Finally gonna buy this
Looks good!!
amazing build, those decals make it to stand out but... what about those big clear parts???
Looks good except I wish it had link-and-length tracks.
I normally take ah couple of weeks to build my models right now working on ah m2 Bradley by tamiya model dates back 1985 but its ah nice model
Great build as always, I glue from the inside when I can. Thin cyno let it wick the seams. I could be doing all wrong?
Andy a couple questions for you buddy. What sanding stick did you use on the Stuart Build? That is a Thick finger nail sander! Where can I get the Andy Hobby Tee shirt at? Is there a Verlinden upgrade set for this?
for putting these things together what would you use? super glue? or is there something else i should buy?
Whatever happened to the Takom Panther A with Full Interior? We only saw Part 1.
Nice kit, I would love to see an aftermarket interior for it.
The music is perfect!
Andy,I have the same airbrush as you.....I use the same air pressure for general painting....22psi.....I always get a very small sharp line.......How do you get the broader pattern for painting a large surface....I see you are holding the airbrush about the same distance as I do.......Please advise.
You should just be able to pull the airbrush trigger farther back And get the wider spray pattern
Awesome vid. Are there instructions in these kits? Or do we figure it out on our own?
I always thought you had to put a Gloss Varnish for decals not flat!? But your matt worked! :D
Great video, thank you for posting
Andy what became of the large clear pieces?
hey Andy do you think you could link some of the songs you use in the description because it'll be easier than trying to search for them
Hi andy, just like to ask you a question, ive built quite a few tanks, 1/35 scale, & i always have to stretch the tracks so they join & i haven't glued the wheels on wrong so i dont understand, your tracks just seem to slip right on, any thoughts🤔🤔 thx
Hey there. I'm gonna try using decal fix for the first time and can't decide between Microsol/set or Mark Fit Strong. Wich would you recommend? Also I've seen people who use Microsol by itself. Is that proper?
Andy, Where did the two large clear parts go ??
I noticed some similarities between the Tamiya kit and Academy...for example the accessories sprue.
Question , on the clear sprue what were the large rectangular pieces? Tamiya does it again.
Do u need to wait for the paint to dry before adding anotherlayer of paint?
I did the academy Stuart not too long ago
Not a bad kit
I really wished Tamiya molded ALL the kits in this gray plastic, I do t really care for the colored plastic, it looks like a great little kit, I got the old version can’t wait to look at them side by side
What is you the antenna made of, I notice it has good flexibility? Very impressed too by the way the Tamiya decal solvent works on flat paint.
Andy whats up with the Takom Panther A? It's been a month when first part came out...
Great video and kit! I have one question though. Why didn’t you paint the machine gun barrels and also the rubber on the wheels?
John the Voice ...and the red on the tail lights.
I bought that kit yesterday :D
i watch Andy video's from 10am to 4pm.i love it.joe australia.wht a spray gun save'in up for it.
Looks fantastic👍
Hi just received the new Academy panther D doesn't like a bad kit for the money
Price point is a bit disappointing... for that price you'd hope there was an interior... at least the large parts that would be visible through the open driver and machine gunner's hatches... maybe even more crew members...
