hey, I think this was among the very 1st models I made, think it was the late 70s, pick it up from a “Pick’n’Save” store in Anaheim, Ca. Back then I think Italeri/Revell who was discontinuing them (or the one at this store was defective in some way I couldn’t possibly detect at my age at the time). I’m so amazed how many flashbacks this brings to my mind!
Hey Andy! Just bought this kit. Already blown away by the typical Tamiya engineering. I typed it into the search bar, hoping that you built it, and as luck would have it, you have. I’m really excited to see your concise explanations that’ll help me through some of the complex parts of the build. Thanks!
Thank You very much Andy. You have been very inspiring force for me in this hobby. I lost motivation to modelling for seven years, but by watching these videos i`ve started modelling again :)
One of my favorite "German" vehicles. My Grandfather was a M4 commander in the 7th AMD- in his photo album there are pictures of a pair of these nearly blown to pieces. When I began to get into modeling and researching WW2 armor, I asked him about these, apparently the pics were of two 38ts that were thrown at his unit (I'm guessing scraped up from some depot or training center) during April of 45. He said they hit them with HE 75mm rounds and the armor was so thin and weirdly brittle that they scattered like glass. Sad desperate days at the end.
Built this kit years ago not much has changed my tricks that I used to authenticate mud I would take plastic and just shave it and then I would mix it up in my paint mud that they made back in the day and put that on my brush and then just kind of painted it on the tracks the wheels and other parts of the armor to wear you know it look like mud being thrown up on the vehicle that came out pretty cool its one of mine little trick I know everybody's got their own little tricks it's good to share this channel is totally awesome
I’ve moved over from planes to tanks for a change of build and I picked this kit up in my local model shop and what a kit it is everything fits like a glove ! highly recommended to anyone starting to get into scale modelling. I’ve not painted it yet but this video has been very useful ! Great video Andy !
A brand new model of my favorite tank coming out from Tamiya in the same scale as all the other tanks I want to build? It truly is the Christmas season :')
Hello, Andy. I really enjoy watching you build the armor. You do fantastic jobs on these tanks. One thing I really like is that you do not over do it when you weather a tank. You make them look more realistic. I look at some of the other channels. And they overdo their weathering. To the point to where it looks like It's been sitting out in a field for 30 years. I myself have been building models since the 60s. I thought I knew about everything. There was to know until I saw your chance. Thank you for what I have learned from you. And keep up the good work.
Thanks for posting this great looking kit. Funny thing, I had my close captioning on and it said, "Hi I am Annie from . . ."! I laughed. I know its never perfect.
Purchased this kit at the model show earlier today for a really good price. Can't wait to finish grad school, and get to all these kits I've been saving...
Wow! I remember the old days when Francois Verlinden "invented" dry-brushing...a basic kit looked unlike anything we'd seen before. These modern techniques require one item...an airbrush. That and the modern paints make it a lot easier.
It's great to see you again building a kit! Shop's looking awesome! This kit has been on my radar since I first saw it on Scalemates but now I've made up my mind. I need this. Now I'm watched the video: yet again an amazing work Andy!
I just got this kit delivered here today from a competitor (I'm in Canada, so the shipping from your store would be prohibitive, sorry). But this is a great video and is helping me out. Thanks!
Nice to see you back as a modelbuilder, Andy. Always a joy to watch. Good to see that the work in shop is as good as ready. Looks very good . Good luck with it !!
If I ever would go to the USA (which I doubt) I would skip places like mount Rushmore, golden gate etc etc and head straight to merry Andy at his store!!!
The hobby bosses were £23 uk pounds very nice kits I got 3 different panzer 1s from there series I love them theres so fine detail I'll need to give a Tamyia one a try!
Awesome kit and one of the most fun filled kits I can remember. Took me a while to get over to Glendale to pick up the kit (s). Thank you Andy as usual. Time to get started on the Blitz Panzer III.
with your new store and mail order I wish you would come out with a spray painting system that you feel is the best choice for beginners to pros ,love your site !!
I am looking for the tank driving wheel used for the Star Wars AP-3 Attack droid. The Tamyia Flakpanzer IV Mobbelwagon 1/35 is the good shape, but too small, and the 1/25 Tamyia Panzer too big. I think Specialist Andy might help identify the right model kit. Thanks in advance
The shop is looking great. Very nice build of an intresting kit.. I have a Dragon Panzer 38T with full interior that I will be building in the future. I has an awful lot of parts but I'm really looking forward to building it.
The new shop looks fantastic Andy! So happy to hav the build videos coming back. Keep up the great work, rally wish I could visit the shop in person but I’m all the way up in Indiana
Very nice kit indeed, can't resist to point out that you threw me a bit off when you mentioned the balkan cruise :D - from context i'm assuming you meant the Balkenkreuz so to assist in pronounciation here goes: the "a" in Balken is like the "u" in dull, so like an "uh, really" sound while the "eu" in Kreuz is more like the "oy" in Boy. So try Bull-ken-kroyz - hope any of this made sense!
hi Andy just wanna say that the store looks amazing and so does the model I'm having a problem with my tamiya paints, when i spray on the base of nato black it looks grey compared to your nato black. im having the same issue with the xf-60 dark yellow as well, it looks like a sand yellow more than dark yellow. any suggestions?
Maybe the screen color setting? Nato Black has a grey Touch to it. Also dark yellow is not exactly yellow. More sandy. Does it differ very much from the cap on the bottle?
As usual, another outstanding video tutorial. Thank you for posting these Andy. Congrats on your shop upgrade and your new Web site. Best Regards, Patrick
Hi Andy just a quick missing your videos because of coppa but hay I know it's a bit early but wishing you a very happy and merry Xmas and a happy new year and all the best for the future Steve 🇬🇧
Another great video, another great build. Happy for you that you could expand the store. Great seeing you making vids, look forward to more. Stay warm, getting cold here in Michigan.
You should do like a tomcat flying over bomb drop with the tomcat pulling up slightly with all the bombs and the explosions going off underneath it but great work keep up the work I love what you are doing
Hi Chris. The mats are prefabricated in a variety of terrains. They are easy to trim and make for simple and quick diorama bases. You can view them on the website and the maker is ModelScene. Thanks for watching!
Great video Andy, cool build as usual!! Hey great new hobby shop. I have to plan a trip from Kentucky to Arizona to see you all, bring my kids . Looks super . Show us more!! Do you have a grand re-opening date? Many blessings and success for your business !!!!
Great video as always Andy! One thing...many sounds are amplified into that table top mic, due to no isolation mount. You might want to raise it up off the table somehow. It's like using a boom pole mic...whatever movements you make with your hands, are magnified and picked up by the mic. A wearable lav mic would work way better anyway!
15:33 - perfect transition, made me giggle :D
Me: ...
Andy: *COU-*
I spent hundreds of hours building tank models as a kid. I wish I lived closer to your store. Of course my wife wouldn’t.
I don’t know why but now when I hear “let’s get started” - I always smile. Another great vid .....and the shop looks fantastic🙂

Awesome to see a model retailer doing so well. Keep at it and best wishes
Thank You very much Andy.
You have been very inspiring force for me in this hobby.
I lost motivation to modelling for seven years, but by watching these videos i`ve started modelling again :)
Welcome back!
GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK AND BUILDING ANDY! THANX FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THESE, VERY COOL LOOKING KIT

A brand new model of my favorite tank coming out from Tamiya in the same scale as all the other tanks I want to build?

The figure that comes with the kit is lovely!

Thanks for posting this great looking kit. Funny thing, I had my close captioning on and it said, "Hi I am Annie from . . ."! I laughed. I know its never perfect.
It's an awesome kit, nice job on filming the whole build. Total pro delivery.
Purchased this kit at the model show earlier today for a really good price. Can't wait to finish grad school, and get to all these kits I've been saving...
I have this model sitting on my work space now, hopefully I will get started in the morning.
You showing how to assemble tracks has definitely helped me, many thanks.
I like the sanding stick with Stevens Int on it. I used to work for them back in the 90's. Used to spend most of my paycheck working there.
Wow!
I remember the old days when Francois Verlinden "invented" dry-brushing...a basic kit looked unlike anything we'd seen before.
These modern techniques require one item...an airbrush. That and the modern paints make it a lot easier.
New store is looking great!
Very nice & fun. Now a great back ground. Happy days are here again.
About time they did the 38t. Thank you for the video, I'm in the UK and have learned a lot from your channel
It's great to see you again building a kit! Shop's looking awesome!
This kit has been on my radar since I first saw it on Scalemates but now I've made up my mind. I need this.
Now I'm watched the video: yet again an amazing work Andy!
A good kit is the old testers kit. Nick
I just got this kit delivered here today from a competitor (I'm in Canada, so the shipping from your store would be prohibitive, sorry). But this is a great video and is helping me out. Thanks!
Hobbys boss have brought out a whole series of these panzer 1s I have 3 there old tristar kits so you can only imagine how good.the detail is!
at 17:25 the rubber on the road wheels are now black vs German grey. How did you accomplish that since they were affixed to the hull?
Very good job on the new website. It is very easy to navigate. Now to think of who I know that has a US mailbox, (just across the border in BC).
We ship to Canada as well
Your new shop setup is looking great, one of these days I'm going to make the 350 mile drive to check it out!

hi Andy
just wanna say that the store looks amazing and so does the model
I'm having a problem with my tamiya paints, when i spray on the base of nato black it looks grey compared to your nato black.
im having the same issue with the xf-60 dark yellow as well, it looks like a sand yellow more than dark yellow.
any suggestions?
Maybe the screen color setting? Nato Black has a grey Touch to it. Also dark yellow is not exactly yellow. More sandy. Does it differ very much from the cap on the bottle?
Maybe you need more coats, depending on the color underneath
@@danielkonrad1444
the colours match the caps of the paint but it's just his colours just look darker than the same ones I have
The redone, bigger Store looks fantastic!

Can you give more details of the landscape mat please. Looks good.
Hi Chris. The mats are prefabricated in a variety of terrains. They are easy to trim and make for simple and quick diorama bases. You can view them on the website and the maker is ModelScene. Thanks for watching!

Great video...who makes the ground scenery you used on your base?
Really good. Gonna buy it.
