    I have no idea what it is about your teaching style, but I feel as though all of your lessons are so much easier for me to understand and put in to practice than any other TH-camr. Thank you for everything!

      Wow thanks Thomas, appreciate that, knowing something is one thing but communicating it is another, great to hear that you are finding the videos helpful 👍

    This is the BEST video I've found on how to tune my swing. Love the basics and fundamentals. FINAL drill helped me the most! I've been working for a few weeks trying to fix my driver slice. Decided to go back to iron basics. Picked up my driver after weeks of leaving it alone and now I'm hitting draws. Thank you very much Chris!

    Love the humility you bring to your teaching. I've been working on feeling my lead shoulder turn up, and back through impact. This move is helping me post up better, as it tends to create an extending affect on the entire left side of the body. My divots were also too deep, before working on this left shoulder move. It obviously has a shallowing affect through the ball. I also love the way you describe how the handle should work through impact. The flat left wrist is gonna feel very strange to most people, but it's a game changer. Great stuff, Chris!!!

    I've been looking for this information for years and he nails it. Best explainer of the golf swing I've ever run across.

    Finally, after watching a dozen different videos on when and how to release the club, Chris explains it perfectly.

    Thanks, this is a great refresher considering how long it's been since I've been out! I could feel everything you described, as negative actions, that I have been guilty of and took too long to straighten out. Each of the misconceptions was something I worked on the wrong way after someone told me how it's done. By the way - a majority of the corrections in my game are a result of watching your videos - thanks.

    Good video, Chris. It's a good time of year to be thinking about these things seeing as we can't get out there, it's a good time to really pick apart these things.

    Interesting drills and explanations. I like that Chris tries to tell us why we are doing things. I really like the left arm folding drill and the idea that swinging a golf club is similar to throwing a frisbee left handed. So many instructors talk about throwing a baseball, which involves a similar weight shift and turning motion but a completely different arm and arm movement. Obviously swinging a golf club is not exactly the same as throwing a frisbee, but it is a more similar motion than that of throwing a baseball, and it employs the same arm. The hands apart drill reminds me of a hockey slap shot. Again, not exactly the same, but similar in many ways. I certainly don't want to be thinking about slowing down my body while trying to hit a golf ball, but it's something to be aware of and maybe to notice when practicing.

    I had an ah ha moment after practicing one of yiur drills.. as a beginner I had no idea how the ironclubhead should meet the ball....I could not get the ball in the air....finally I did your drill at impact and started to see how the head should look on the ground....then suddenly I knew how it should look. I started to focus on the back of the head on a slant so you see the logo, instead of the ball and instead of the frknt of the club head. Suddenly I started hitting the swèet spot. THANK YOU

    Isn’t it funny that most people can throw a ball or throw a frisbee (or whatever it might be) without thought. But hitting a ball with a stick is so well analysed! I guess accuracy on demand in golf is so revered its not a fair comparison!
    Good video as always mate 👍

  • @errolwatts2340

    This was great biomechanical information. I bet if we could analyze our divot, the depth and length would indicate if the wrist was released properly. You have explained the what should happen process clearly. I look forward to your next drill down on divot analysis. Great teaching!!

    The most important acceleration happens in that 6 inches thru impact. Everything else is trying to get your body maximizing that action consistently

    I like these drills. I suffer from keeping the lead wrist arched right through the swing, and compensate with lots of body rotation. Result: no distance. So those exercises might help!

    So damn imp and relevant for me; I keep turning and turning leading with the shoulder and pull the ball left _ more prominent with mid to long irons, but with the driver I can feel the wrist cusp, pelvis turn and then the shoulders. Wonder whether it’s coz I have more width, time and turn with the driver ?

    Its going to take a few driving range pratice to get it.

  • @Midway47
    @Midway47 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you tale the correct grip your lead hand Is restricted to maintaining a straight ahead motion. In other words if can’t move left or right. It is locked into a straight ahead position. Don’t worry about a straight ahead swing. It happens naturally.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A correct grip still allows for movement in two direction from the wrists, these movements are needed for speed 👍

    • @Midway47
      @Midway47 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your correct., Tom Wishom wants the break to come at the very last moment. For me the break comes very early.,,. That is what your video is about. It’s good but. doesn’t really give the average golfer much information. .

    I hit my 7 iron @250 meters, 100% pure and dead straight. I have no problem with strike or distance with any of my irons. My problem is I don't hit any divots before or after the ball...hopefully I am "normal " ??
    Regarding the Driver and the Hybrids my consistency is not good....topic for another day.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Naas, I think you may well be the next long drive champion for 2021! 250metres with a 7 iron is incredible, longer than the current champions, I’d get signed up 👍

    Hey Chris - question about the wrist position of “Arched to Flat to Cupped” transition (minute 9:00 in video). Does this movement mainly only apply to Irons or is this also the same for Driver/Woods?
