As they say if you can’t explain it simply than you don’t know it well enough 😊

Wally Armstrong’s Maximizing Your Game and Everything About It had a segment where he demonstrates a Hanger Training Aid included with his 1992 golf instruction videos. He emphasized this same principle in his instruction.
I’ve watched that Fred Couples demonstration-explanation of his downswing and release numerous time but it never made sense until I watched your explanation of the release.

I think I'm starting to get it. A lot of it is in how the trail hand is helping in the release of the club. When you look at those slo-mo videos from head on, it seems like the lead arm basically stops moving, but the trail hand almost pushes the club forward to get the typical release image we see form pros. Man, this'll be a hard one to learn.

It’s actually not hard to improve it rapidly .. after 2 weeks you’ll see improvements. After 2 months you’ll be shocked… just chip away at it.

I think the most profound culprit for the amateurs not to use that stable release is in the 90’s teaching, which Leadbetter lead to every club professional with Nick Faldo. Probably wrongly interpreted, but still implied for so many amateurs as rolling release and also severe plane thinking where you basically need to cross your arms and flip the clubhead over in the follow thru.

  • @PetSKi67

Halfway thru and yet not reveal of the culprit for why amateurs cannot stop flipping.
If you imply to something in the topic, why not give the answer in the video rather than telling what the professionals do?

    • @PetSKi67

Basically the stable release is a flip, an extension of the front wrist, flexing the trail wrist, which amateurs of club level are really good at. That is the flip.
The culprit rather than not understanding the club face angles and not to cross your arms thru impact lies in the timing of the motion and not turning thru the shot. Stalling the shoulders too early having the shoulders parallel to the target line at impact results the flip, ie, releasing the club head too early and not thru the ball.
Ball position in the stance plays huge role and also the faulty idea of trying to wedge the leading edge underneath the ball.
