Thank you for your video. I struggled with compressing the spring and came up with a solution. I ground down an M10 bolt head until it fitted into the new pin, I then fitted it into my pillar drill. This meant I could compress the spring and then turn the chuck by hand to engage the lock. Worked a treat .
I honestly admire the tools you're using. If only I could have them. I also do repair mirrors but this BMW gives me headache considering I only have basic tools. From Kenya big up
Thank you so much for this increidble video! It really helped me to fix both my mirrors that had the exact same problem. I'd like to suggest an improvement: If you use a bearing extractor tool, then you can compress the spring super easily without the need for clamps. A job that can take you hours with a clamp can be done in less than three minutes with the bearing extractor, a philips screw and a washer so that the extractor has something to be pressed upon. I got the inspiration from another video which I can link to if it's ok with the author. Thanks again for your excellent video, it is the most detailed one regarding this fix that I have found!
You turn fixing mirrors into true art. The camera angles are insane, and picture quality is outstanding! Thank you for creating content like this 👍 Do you use a new camera?
Great video, as always. One question, on F15, the driver side mirror does not fold all the way in, it stops 10 degrees or so before fully folded position. Is this something that can be fixed by refreshing/regreasing the hinge?
Hello, I have the same problem, but with a bmw f30. Is it the same part as bmw x1? I have found that pin hinge but i don t know if it s the same for bmw f30
Salutare. Am un F30 non LCI si am o problema intermitenta la oglinda din dreapta. Nu coboara in R, nu se poate ajusta, si nici incalzirea nu mai merge. Aceasta problema, apare si dispare fara niciun motiv. Precizez ca semnalizarea e perfect functionala. Te-ai mai intalnit cu problema asta? Merci
brilliant video my unknown friend ! do you happen to know if its the same part that usually breaks on the e90 folding mirrors ? mine fold past out and in ! thank you
Please I ve BMW E66 I changed the AC control in the dashboard but from British car RHD mine is LHD I realised that the buttons control the opposite side but my problem that's the sun shade for rear windshield stopped working they share the same fuse but the fuse is ok so what's the problem?
Good idea! But I don't think you can use zip ties first. The spring is very hard, and secondly, you need to be able to swing the new pin/ hinge in place ! But your idea is awesome! someday, I will try it !
Salut, o întrebare, dacă nu am pe mașină funcția de avertizare unghi mort trebuie să schimb doar carcasa oglinzii complet sau mai trebuie să fac și altceva? Este vorba despre un x3 f25 Multumesc
So strange that both have failed. I suspect someone smacked them on purpose just... because. People are assholes My mnirrors are OK for now but seeing that this is a thing that happens to other owners on a regular basis, I am goiing to buy replacement parts for just-in-case. There are stainless steel machines versions available - but what confuses me is that there are TWO versions of them. One that looks like this one with a slotted design in the big-end, and then there is one that is for all intents and purposes identical, but with no slot and an addition small hole in the side. Anyone here know how to find out which one goes with what model of car or year model?
@@MOvidiu No, I totally get that they will fail as the zinc alloy is not exactly the hardest of material but then again I have a 2011 F25 with these mirrors and they are still intact and I am betting it is just a matter of time - and that is why I ordered the replacement parts so that I have them when they fail. I just questioned that they on this car int the vide were BOTH broken at the same time. Things very rarely do that even on high wear parts. But anyway, I am happy to not see that there are aftermarket parts available as the BMW would only sell you complete mirrors and realistically that means you need to source them off of the second hand market. Which logically would not have very much life left in them. Now, I ordered the stainless steel parts and it may not have been the best choice as they will definitely not fail, and they wil break other stuff that is NOT replaceable if they smack into another car or a wall or something. Meh. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I honestly admire the tools you're using. If only I could have them. I also do repair mirrors but this BMW gives me headache considering I only have basic tools. From Kenya big up
@MOvidiu sorry to bother you but where do you buy that hinge part? Alibaba? For me I improvise a steel pipe I weld a washer at the top to hold the tension spring

Nice content!
It is mandatory to have the low beams on all the time in the zone you live?
Have you had to repair a mirror that folds up but won't go down by itself (but will if you help it a bit with your hand)? On an E65
Nice to see you again, great video.
Beautiful walkthrough. Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Appreciate for your video, I fixed my x3 mirror in budget spending.
Excellent!
Hello, I have the same problem, but with a bmw f30. Is it the same part as bmw x1? I have found that pin hinge but i don t know if it s the same for bmw f30
Could you suggest, what compression force should be in this clamp?

Why you don’t use zip tie for the spring after you finish you cut the zip tie

happy to see u again, hope ul make much more videos, i mean like in past :)
I will try my best
Clean job
what if the base is broken is it replaceable also? 🤷♂🤷♂
Yes but only with a used one!
Dupa comprimare separata a arcului putea sa il blicjeze cu fase elastice zip ! 😊
Buna ideia ta dar nu se poate aplica in aceasta situatie.
I just bought a viofo dash cam 😊
When coming back ?
Where do we find that part?
Details in the video description!
Good job. I recently also repaired a mirror on my car and installed a stainless steel axle. there is a video on the channel.
