A fruit episode! I love these (and the intro fruity fruity frooooouuuuiiityyyy song) 😊 Edit: Here's a tip to make Durian a bit more palatable (and reduce the smell quite a bit): Spray the flesh with lemon juice and let the spray dry out over 20-30 minutes. It will still smell but it won't have the same kick and for some reason it also makes the Durian taste sweeter. This tip I learnt from an elderly neighbor from Laos who first introduced me to Durian. There's also a genetically engineered variety that supposedly has no smell called Chantaburi (or Chantenburi I can't remember the actual spelling).
You’re right,It’s Chanthaburi, the town in Thailand where the scientist developed the variety. Which actually has a smell, nutty/sweet pleasant smell. No smell thing was used to gain interest. I lived in Thailand for a few years and never developed the taste for durian.
@@AlexisLaFury Thank you for sharing that. It sounds delicious! I hope to get to try Chanthaburi someday. I want to try durian but I can never get over the smell.
I grew up in the tropics and I would love to see you try (if you haven't already): Breadfruit. It's starchy and savory. My fav way to eat is cubed and fried until soft enough to flatten into disks and fried again until golden brown. Salt and garlic to taste. ( you can make a dipping sauce with equal parts mayo and ketchup and a little freah garlic) Soursop. It's spikey. With a sweet mushy white pulp. Has small seeds inside kinda like watermelon. Bittermelon_ cundeamor. Tiny little orange things that grow on vines. You eat the insides. It is full of red seeds. You eat the flesh off the seeds. Kinda like a tiny version of the gak fruit in your video. Spanish limes/mamoncillo/quenepas: the come in clusters kinda like grapes. Firm skin. Large pit in the middle. You eat the pulp off the pit. Somewhat sweet and ... tart? Im terrible at describing flavours 😅 I miss all of these. Havent had them in forever.
Soursop is my white whale! I saw it at the market on my first day in Taiwan and I just figured I would pick one up later on in my trip. I looked all over Taipei for a month and I never came across another one. I did get to try a sugar apple though but I was much more excited about the soursop because I love sour fruit. Sigh. Very fascinating Emmy!!!!! I must admit when you tasted the Durian, I was cringing!! I sure didn't know a coconut would do that if it was allowed to sprout. I will be on the lookout. Love your vids!
The durian has been so negatively hyped for clickbait that it’s hard to find an objective review. I totally get why some might not like it. It’s intense but it doesn’t smell like garbage or excrement (it wouldn’t be so popular if it did). It’s more like she said, the unfamiliar marriage of seemingly incompatible flavors. Of course whenever there is sulphur involved there will be some memorable scents (think eggs, onions) but usually if people get past the oddness they end up as total addicts. 😜
You know Emmy, being the kind person she is, is trying hard not to shit-talk the Durian. And soldiering on with her voluble and near perfect description of the pong-y fruit

Ive been watching these fruity fruit videos for years now and they are always my favorite. Not to mention everytime I hear the 'fruity fruit' song it gets stuck in my head for days. "Fruity fruity fruuityyyy"😂
Sprouted coconut is delicious! They are fantastic when the leaves are still wrapped up in a spear. Since the plant hasn't been able to photosynthesize yet, sugars haven't been converted as much in the seed . Makes for a sweeter flavor
You should try Malaysian durian...im not trying to start any beef but i had seen few people saying that Thailand durian is a bit on a dryer side as opposed to Malaysian one...as for the coconut sprout..if you eat the sprout insides when it's still smaller... its more crunchy and sweet than the one Emmy's eating in the video...the one in the video is more like a spongey texture, not so sweet and very watery (watery)... This is based on my own experience as i grow up with my dad always take sprouted coconuts to extract the milk...i love it when he started his project😅😅
Durian doesn't taste like how it smells. It's milky, creamy and sweet. You gotta eat durian fresh instead of frozen. So if any of you have the opportunity to travel to Malaysia, you have to try it fresh.
That's how it tastes for you. Its not the same for everyone. Some think Durian smells great and for others, they think it smells awful. It's the same way with the taste. Some people think it tastes sweet with no onion/garlic flavor and others only get the onion/garlic flavor. This is with it fresh or frozen. It just all depends on the person.
I'm Indonesian and i despise it so much the strong smell the squishy texture, everything about it is vomit to me like it doesn't feel milky custardy and dessert like to me that's for sure.
I once went to a Thai restaurant that had durian milkshakes on the menu. I asked the waitress if I could just try the durian since I'd probably never get to travel to Asia. She said it has to stay frozen because of the smell which is why they only serve it as a milkshake. So I ordered a milkshake and will never forget the smell. The taste wasn't bad as long as I held my nose while drinking it.😂
When I tried durian, I got "garlicky trash." It stayed with me for over 24 hours - and that was the last time I had it. You're brave for taking this one one!
If you ever travel to Borneo island...you gotta try the variety durian...eps the small round spiky ones The fresh is either red/orange color..it has a bitter sweet taste unlike those Thai durian
It stinks something awful. She froze the durian to reduce the fumes. In Malaysia, it is forbidden to bring durian into hotels, taxis, public transit and public buildings. It’s that bad…unless you grew up eating it. Awful.
Hubby lived in Niue for 3 years as a tween/young teen and he learnt to call the sprouted coconut like that 'marshmallow coconut'. When we were in Aitutaki in the Cook Islands a few years ago, he asked one of the locals to help find a marshmallow coconut and he knew exactly what we were talking about. He was a bit surprised we knew about them till hubby mentioned Niue lol. I got to try it and enjoyed it. Have had it a couple of times now, each time, the sprouted leaves were smaller than yours and the texture wasn't as crisp.

the taste reminds me of sugary sweet cream cheese with tons of caramelized onions. Probably explains why some Thai desserts use fried shallots as a topping.
Have you tried durian cookies and ice cream? About 30 years ago I took a job in West Java, Indonesia, and when I couldn't get durians in season (it's a short one) I could get durians in various other ways, my favorites being ice cream and cookies. If you get the durian cream wafers be careful about putting them in your car trunk on hot days. The odor will take at least a year to dissipate.

Put your Durian in the freezer, it’s so creamy that it’s almost like an ice cream when frozen or slightly frozen. Doesn’t need whipping.. Really good. And it’s best to know that not all Durian tastes the same, mostly depending on the variety and the age of the tree. It also does not smell bad, its fragrance is just so concentrated especially if it’s overripe, it’s so overpowering. But generally, Durian does not smell bad. If it does, then it’s not the best one.

It will still smell but it won't have the same kick and for some reason it also makes the Durian taste sweeter. This tip I learnt from an elderly neighbor from Laos who first introduced me to Durian.
These videos are from ages ago made into a compilation so she likely won’t see or care to check this. It’s unfortunate.
But that’s an interesting tip. I’ll bear it in mind myself as I would love to try it!
Thank you Emmy how do I sign up for the seeds? Awesome video I like how you have described all the fruits. I'm interested in the black sapote. Take care Emmy.
It seems like those were old videos put together into a new one. I doubt there are any seeds left.
You should do chocolate vine, Akebia fruit!
Who looked at Durian and thought, "We must eat it!" Lol
Someone who was very very hungry.
