Disabling Auto Start Stop with FORScan

- If you want to disable the Auto StartStop on a Ford it is simple to do with FORScan, a free software. Depending on how you drive or what your preferences are, you might not want to use Auto StartStop. The feature, when the car or truck is warm, shuts the engine off at a stop light while you are stopped and then starts it back up when you let go of the brakes to start moving.

This video will help a couple of my buddies...They HATE the auto start/stop feature. They turn it off each and every time they start the truck. 👍 I'll forward the video.
Glad to hear. I’ve had some issues where my truck hasn’t restarted (twice) and then one time where my power steering delayed coming back on. It was a scary situation… I prefer it off
I just did this today! I was going to buy a programmer. But i found out this was possible. Thank you for posting this! I will try it out tomorrow to make sure all is good.
Let me know how everything works out for you!
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Tim. Hope you have a great weekend as well!!!!
Cool! I wish I could turn it off on my jeep, it's bound to be hard on starters, it's a feature I wish was never invented!👍
Definitely hard on starters! I can see the use for it, I just wish it had a way to turn it off permanently if you didn’t want it
Jl mini tazer, For your jeep. It’s badass.
I will need something like this for my Tundra. :)
It definitely changes the driving experience. I’ve had to get used to not having it anymore! I’m sure it’s also helping reduce the wear on my starter.
Will this work on fiesta’18
Subbed and liked!!
Do you have a link for one that works for a 2019 raptor supercrew?
I hate the auto/start feature. It ruins my bass amp over time. I just replaced my old amp and I sure as hell don’t want this one to fail.
Did you try the obdlink that’s linked in the description with FORScan? I would think it’s the same since they are built off the same chassis and electronics
Do you know if there is a setting to make it default off and have it turn on with the button? Pretty much the opposite of how it is supposed to work.
There is not a setting to do that. I wish there was!
Can you make a video on disabling of adaptive learning transmission
Yes I can. I’ll add that to my list to do in the next few weeks.
Question, do you write with engine running or just key to ignition on?
Ignition on.
Do you have experience with the Launch Ford version scanner?
No
Hello does someone have made experience with disabling this on a Fiesta MK8 (2017) model? Is this a permanent fix with Auto S.S. Button showing OFF?
I don't have any experience with the Fiesta, but I can tell you on the F150 that the button doesn't show off, but it is off in the computer software and doesn't shutoff the engine at stops.
Does altering the car software void any warranties?
I’m sure if you did something that damaged a part of the system, ford wouldn’t be happy about that and would most likely not cover the warranty. I save an “asbuilt” so if I do need to go in for warranty work I can put it back to original. I don’t have an accurate answer on this, I’d read some of the forums. I personally haven’t met anyone denied warranty because of Forscan mods
I did this mod to my 2023 F150 and sure enough it worked. But... the battery light came on and stayed on until I reEnabled the Auto Start Stop again. I also did this through the BMS and the two are related.
Ugh
Ah that's too bad. I wonder if it is something on the later trucks. Maybe post on the for scan forums
I reached out to the folks at FORScan about the battery warning light and so I had to revert the Auto Start Stop setting back to Enabled. The light went out. For a while there I thought that I may have corrupted the code or something. I'm still looking for alternatives to the BMS module's setting for Auto Start Stop.
I did find out that when you write an setting back to the PCM that it really is just writing that one setting back and not rewriting everything. When I first started using FORScan I was receiving connection errors and so I contacted them about the connection error. They asked for my VIN and issued an updated version to me. Connection issue gone. In the back of my mind I wondered that if its tailored to a specific VIN and something goes wrong then the whole PCM's code base could be screwed, but that's not the case. One setting changed, on spec on the PCM changed. That helps.
So did the newer version that had the connection issue work to turn off the Auto Start Stop? Glad it sounds like you got the issues sorted out. That is interesting the way it works, writing one setting one spec changed. Didn't know it was looking at it that way.
I think basically by me supplying the VIN that they could pull the Motorcraft AS-Built file for it. Just a guess.
There are updated Google Sheets on the F150 forums that have a number of ways to fool the Auto Start Stop so I'll try those. By playing with the PSCM or HVAC controller setting you can make it think that one of the conditions for not turning on is occurring. i.e. The steering wheel shows that it is no longer straight so don't stop the engine.
I changed tire size on my F-150 to a bigger size. I followed you on this and now I have the see service manual messege and the "wrench" on the dash. Know what's going on there?
What year truck do you have?
You also might want to post on that specific video as people have had that pop up on them as well. I believe a few of them were able to fix it.
have you determined whether this is a permanent fix?
Yes. On my f150 my auto start stop no longer turns the car off. I do not need to press the button every time I use the truck. It’s been great
Will this work on a 23 expedition?
Not sure. I'd ask on the FORScan forum
do you need a forscan license first?
Yes. It’s free.
I did it on my 2019 expedition and a Charging system service soon warning came on
Interesting. Is it combined with the BMS on the Expedition?
I guess so . Is there any other way?
Is this possible on a 2023 f150?
I have no experience with that new of a truck yet. I'd check out the FORScan forums.
@@SmackeysGarage thanks
1 skin, 2 skin, 3 skin….. where’s my FORScan
WHY do you say F-O-R scan ??????
I was experimenting with the search algorithm and how YT creates automatic closed captions. Wanted to see if that would drive more search since the FORScan isn’t something you commonly hear. Good catch. I do say it as a single word in my other videos
@@SmackeysGarage That works but you have to say "F-O-R-S can" for it to work properly.
My battery light came on after this.
That’s weird. What year truck do you have? I’m assuming newer than 2020?
That’s what mine is doing now too any fix? Thanks
Same
The auto start stop feature is a complete Cali gimmick. Unless you are in such heavy traffic you are idling a lot, what is the point? To try and save a miniscule percent of carbon emissions globally? Cali, take care of your forest,. Rest of the world Limit cutting off the forest and replanting the Timberland after the fact.Sorry rant there. The wear and tear making your engine and starting system constantly start and stop. I hate the loss of power control. Feelings of the dead in the water come to mind.
