As a guy who has owned the same Corvair since 1970 while in high school I very much enjoyed this one! Thanks for giving Clark's some well deserved recognition.
@@Bondodon1849 Amen
Just like Matt, I smiled through the whole Clark's tour.
I've never owned one, but a friend had an orange Monza. I wish Matt showed every part in that building 😂 I'm an auto technician that could be why lol I also have a soft spot for Powerglides having built around 100 of them lol
I can understand the passion, though it isn't mine personally. A highschool friend had a 61 coupe, he wouldn't let anyone drive it, not even his brother who helped him work on it. One day we were going out to eat, and he got a wild hair and asked me if I wanted to drive it. I felt like it was a great honor, so I couldn't turn him down. Mind you, he offered after riding with me driving a 70 D-100 318 Dodge truck, all original 278,000 miles on it at the time, and doing drifts and such, with steering wheel that had almost a foot of play, so he felt confident in my ability, where he had not with anyone else before. So, I drove it, after him giving me a thorough tutorial of all it's "quirks". Now, the truck I drove was a jalopy, but it was solid. I drove his Corvair with the upmost caution, but that thing was a deathtrap. I was used to 1, but this thing was more like 2 feet of steering play, and sure I was used to pumping my brakes, but this thing, you had to hold the bottom of the steering wheel and pull with both hands with all your might pressing the break pedal to stop. I only drove around 5 miles, scared the absolute crap out of me the whole time. My friend having confidence in me, but knowing exactly what I was experiencing vs what I was expecting was laughing his butt off the whole time. After we got where we were going he asked me, "She rides nice, aye?" I replied rolling my eyes, "Yeah, real nice." We all laughed. After we ate, going to load up, he asked if I wanted to drive back, I said humbled, "Nah, I'm good." He then asked his brother, he said "Definitely not." I said "You are definitely the wheelman my friend." So, as I said the passion is not my own, however I do have great respect for those who do wheelman these deathtraps.
When my kids were little and my wife and I were not so well off we were out for a grocery shopping trip and decided to get some dinner. Our oldest was 6 and we have 4 kids, a few years apart. We were trying so hard to keep them quiet so those around could enjoy their dinner. When we were all done we asked for the check and were informed that a lovely elderly couple had paid for the meal and were the ones we were trying to not bother. We haven't had a chance to come back around and pay that forward but we look forward to the days when we can be the older couple paying for others meals and paying it forward. Thank you for being such a great example of people in this world!
Hey Matt, I’m 28 years old and my ex gf gave me her 62 Monza and we spent a few months rebuilding it with her grandpa before he passed. Got all the parts from Clark’s! Thank you SO much for showing this! I would’ve had butterflies too!
As a native Bostonian....I'm impressed you found a Friendly's still open. Glad you enjoyed the food, and that's probably why it's still open, good food. On the rental car side, I'm disappointed in my former co-workers at Avis, they should have pulled a truck out of the oil/filter service line at Fleet (4 miles up the road) to give to you. They do it ALL the time and how do I know? I've been the guy doing the pulling, cleaning, gassing, etc. Spent 10 years there part time back in the 80's/90's. Fun place to work if you like driving!
I’m an Avis shuttler in Colorado - we do drive a lot of cars, from the nicest cars all the way to the worst cars, all over the state. It’ll be ten years in December for me.
@@kjsgarden That's awesome and congrats! Some pretty drives in Colorado!! I always loved the service calls for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont as it meant long driving from Boston and great scenery!
I'm in Ohio. Friendly's out of business in my area. They were around for at least 40 years.
@@ripvanrevs Yeah, it's sad what's going on with them.
My mom bought a brand new corvair in 1963. She kept taking it back to the dealership for every little thing because she liked the mechanic. She married that mechanic and that is how I came to be. I drove that corvair in high school
Thanks for taking us to Clarks. I have 3 Corvair's and still have the first one I bought (1965 Monza) in 1971. I've been buying from Clarks since the mid 70's, what a great company and great people. Couldn't ask for better people to keep the Corvair alive for us, supplying lots of parts!
Very kind of you to take care of the tab for everyone at the restaurant!
So cool you made it to Clarks after waiting so many years!
No joke, you can see the genuine passion and happiness Matt has for Corvairs. This was awesome!
I'm not a Corvair guy but I understand the passion for something like that and it made me grin the entire time watching these two guys. Beautiful cars Clark has!
I and my brother had a 1960 corvair, 3 speed transmission, 4-door, white. When they first came out that our parents got us. Parked in the garage till we got our divers license a few weeks later. Love that car. Had it for a couple of years. Drove it every where in Southern California. Go out camping with our friend’s parents. Dirt roads in canyons . Flipped it late at night. Landed back on its wheels on a Malibu road with four of us. Unfortunately, damage the trans axe? Had to get it towed. Fathers had to get us and taken us home. Fixed it and ran great for a couple more years. Did put the sway on the rear suspension afterwards. Still miss the car.
Matt went to heaven and he didn't even have to die. --- Jamie, on the other hand, had a different experience.
Jamie gets the First Place award for patience and endurance. --- Thanks for the fun upload. ---
What I love about Jamie is that she gets joy in experiencing things with her husband. She's a great example of someone who lives selflessly, but actually has a joyful happy life because of it.
This visit to Clark's is a Corvair pilgrimage. Bringing cores back to be refurbished to help another Corvair live a little longer makes it extra special!
Matt has finally made it to his Corvair Nirvana. He is one with the world of Clark Corvair. If Matt had a 53' tractor trailer with him, he would have loaded it from the front bulk head to the rear doors with Corvair parts and headed back to Utah.
I owned a 1967 Corvair Monza convertible (power top) in the early 80s. Bought a rolling Corvair Corsa; rebuilt the engine with an Isky 3/4 cam and replaced the 4 carb setup with a Holley 350CM 4 barrel spider intake. Moved the engine and 4 speed trans to the '67. I won a lot of street drag races with that car. It would twist the right front wheel off the ground during a hard launch. Lots of parts from Clarks' involved. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the Clark's Corvair visit. I've bought many parts from them and have been satisfied every time. I smiled through that whole experience too!😊😊
That Seinfeld episode about the car rental.... perfect.😂😂😂😂
Yes! My god.... 9 hours...
I was trying to remember who did that bit.
Video editor missed an opportunity to.
"Your better give me the insurance. I'm going to beat the hell out of it"
@@Blasterxp- I spent longer than that at LAX only to get a car with broken steering "...we run a checklist before releasing EVERY car...". Renting cars in LAX, step 1: I have a reservation for the smallest 4 door made. ( California parking spaces are SO much smaller the New England ones. ) Step 2: NO, a Chevy suburban is NOT a small car. Step 3: NO, a two door Ford Mustang convertible with broken steering is NOT a 4 door.
I can throw a rock at the the Friendly's in Hadley MA from my house. You didn't get a lobster Roll?!?
What did you think of the rotary in Greenfield on the way to Clarks? It's one of the better ones.
If you ever get bounced on flight out of Boston in the future consider a side trip to Portsmouth NH / Kittery ME for best lobstah 🦞 in the WORLD. When a place has their own dock & fleet of boats you found the right place to eat! Glad you got your lobstah in the end.
Matt grinning ear to ear at Clark's made my day! Its very obvious he's experiencing a dream come true!
I used to get all my corvair parts from Clarks. That was in the late 80's in Tahoe where I had a shop. I have since retired. I'm glad to see they are still around and helping all of you.
I am just going to say, I love Matt’s Off Road Recovery vids!
The entertainment value in versatility is unmatched.
Really enjoy going along for the ride whether it’s recoveries or moments where dreams come true. ❤️👍
I can imagine Matt's excitement for visiting Clark's would be similar to a fan getting to visit the MOOR shop. Glad you folks were able to make the Clark's tour happen.
Matt i dont share your passion for Corvairs, but i do understand that place is like Disneyland to you. I'm glad you got to go, you smiled so much today.
In 1960 when I was 9 years old I was already a car nut. A family friend bought a new Corvair. I was very impressed with it. The flat rear engine was unique and very interesting. Also the powerglide shifter in the dash was odd. I was thrilled when we went for a ride and I was allowed to drive it on a parking lot. Quite a thrill for a 9 year old boy.
I live in Pennsylvania and I have traveled the country for the last 35 years for work. Roads don’t straighten out until you get west of the Mississippi for the most part. In PA, the roads we have now used to be Indian trails and deer paths, usually following a creek or river.
Western PA? That’s where I am.
I live in Oklahoma and worked in PA for awhile and you're 100% right on. Nothing straight or flat there.
I guess you missed South Florida in your travels. Most of our roads are pretty dang straight. Great for getting from one place to another but kinda boring as far as scenery goes.
Born and raised in Gettysburg PA. Great place to grow up but the traffic in town during the summer was a headache. Gotta know the shortcuts in town and on 15. Matt should have tried Sheetz and let us know how it compares to Maveriks.
I was born & raised in Philadelphia. I have no sense of direction. It runs in the family; we call it the Slater Curtain of Darkness. Anyone who rides with me also loses their sense of direction. I never knew where I was and the streets in Philly don’t help.
Decades later, when I was living in the Midwest, GPS became common. And Google Earth allowed me to see just how lost I was as a kid in Philly. I ❤️ GPS, and I ❤️❤️ Google Earth even more!
Seeing Matt so excited is very heart warming, that's exactly how I was when we pulled into Hurricane for the off-road games! ❤
This was my favorite episode. I'm born and raised in Boston, and seeing you guys on the Pike was something I wouldn't have imagined seeing on this channel, lol.
A few things to note: Yes, you were in New England ( Mass, CT, NH, VT, RI, and Maine make up New England)
Friendlys is a staple all over New England; you'll find them here in Boston, the Cape, the western mass, and NH...we were a region built on Friendlys growing up, although unfortunately, they are slowly going out of business, so it was a treat that you guys found one!
The fall foliage comes in late September.
The next time you visit Mass in the summer, spend a few days at the Cape or Martha's Vineyard; you'll also find the best clam chowder down there or anywhere on the coast.
Next time you visit Boston, I'll be happy to be a tour guide or take you to a local autocross event; we don't have sand dunes and mountains like you guys, so we stick to the pavement for car stuff!
You guys should take a vacation to New Hampshire during fall season. Take a trip up the Kancamagus Highway. Very nice drive. Get a airBnB near the White Mountains.
I lived near Shelburne Falls for years in the 80s and 90s. Drove by Clark's countless times wondering about it. I'm glad it's still there. A minor point: Although the address for Clark's may say Shelburne Falls, I think you'd find that Clark's is actually on Route 2 in Shelburne. Shelburne Falls is actually a little village - one of those quintessential New England villages - that brings together across a river two towns, Shelburne and Buckland. I hope you and Jaymie got to see Shelburne Falls. It's magical and there really is no place like it. What fun to see inside Clark's and to see your joy the whole time you were there.
Rt 2 is a beautiful drive through that area
The Bridge of Flowers is a must see!
its there, i go there everyday during the week to pick up and drop off delivery's. I work for one of the delivery and shipping company's.
Gosh, my 1st car was 1961 Corvair Monza back in 1965. White with red interior but a 4 speed instead of auto. I was about 17 at the time. Lots of fond memories. I left it home when I went to Vietnam in 1968. Thanks for the memories Matt!
I know the giddy feeling! I met Joan and Cal at the Corvair convention years ago in St. Charles Illinois. It was awesome! He remembered me because of my rear engine, dual quad Lakewood wagon. When I asked him to autograph my Clarks catalog, me was shocked and said no one ever asked him to do that before. It's one of my prized possessions to this day! Clarks rocks!! Just think where we would be without them...there would be SIGNIFICANTLY less Corvairs on the road for sure.
Oh buddy, right there with you on the Corvair passion. Had my first @12 thanks to my grandpa. Been hooked since. 60 my favorite as well. What a treat meeting the Clark’s. Cal’s 60 is incredible. Can’t say enough about how important they are to this hobby!!! Keep the Corvair content coming!!!
I've been in that EXACT SAME car rental situation so many times that it's literally stopped me from traveling - so seeing you two with smiles on your faces after dealing with that is truly remarkable. That's a near impossible task.
Turo, I've never had an issue with them and it's cheaper than traditional rental places.
Kind of odd that after all these years of car rentals being in service, that these mistakes still occur regularly. It's almost like they do it on purpose.
@@RolandtheThompsonGunner Couldn't agree more.
9 hours.
I consider myself to be the patient type, but I'd have them reimburse me and look for a different car rental before three hours of wait, saints for toughing it out without letting it ruin the mood.
Nothing better than visiting Clarks Corvair! Full filling a true passion! That white 1960 was such a beauty and all those PARTS! Pure heaven for the ultimate collector!!
Matt found your site couple years ago and fell in love with the content. What drew me to your site was the Morvair. My Dad was a mechanic and always fixing up and selling Corvairs and always owned one. When I was old enough to drive them I would always hot rod em and my Dad would get pissed cause I always knocked the belt off and it would fill up the cab with smoke lol. To show you how sturdy they were my Dad was going to work and sitting at a stop light and a guy that had won some kind of race that had been celebrating all nite and a little drunk ran into his corvair at sixty miles an hour. It knocked my Dad out and sent him to the hospital but the first thing my Dad said was when he came to the Corvair was still running. Hard to believe with the motor in the back but my old man said Corvairs are solidly built. Thanks again for the great content and best of luck.
Quonset huts full of Corvair parts are a wonderful thing for sure! Their interiors are fantastic. That said, Shelburne Falls is a beautiful little town on its own and I hope you got to see some of it. There's still a drug store with a soda fountain on Bridge Street, great food, the Bridge of Flowers, museum, the falls themselves with the glacial potholes.
That is some serious dedication and passion. I love to see it!
I'm from Arkansas, and the closest I've seen to that was our infamous "Mustang graveyard" up near Rose Bud. There had to be upwards of 500 antique Mustangs, none newer than the 70s.
The Corvair place is awesome, every car needs a guy like him to make restoration possible.
Real fish and chips, in UT? That's impressive!
Oh and Matt, restore your Rampside!
Agreed the rampside wheelie
I think the rampside was an awesome version of the pickup with many advantages I'm surprised some version of it isn't still around.
@@Hat6000 access to the engine bay even with 2 doors was difficult. The offset load bed was ackward to say the least. If there would be a way make it level it would be more useable. I bet today a nomad life person could fabricate something with it
@@cherylmartin4050 I realize there are tradeoffs, but nothing that couldn't be rectified if the idea was carried forward.
Matt looks so happy! Thanks for giving "Clark's Corvair" so much recognition and advertising!
I’ve always been into 67 -72 Chevy,GMC trucks and blazers. Just sat at a show yesterday.
I totally understand your religious pilgrimage to your parts dealer. My parts dealer I met when I was 16 at the Indy 500 swap meet which is held in the infield once a year. There was no nationwide or 1-800 vendors at the time, just guys you met and word-of-mouth at swap meets through Hemmings motor news.
My Clark Corvair was Jerry Browns “Truck Shop” in Crossville,Tennessee.
Jerry has died in the last year in a nursing home with dementia after selling off his business about six or seven years ago and I’m lost without him. He would call me and tell me what very expensive new old stock part or rare option he had just bought at Carlisle/ Hershey or through a friend of a friend.
He caused me to have a very high option Cheyenne Super, short 71 four-wheel-drive that I use for the photo instead of my face in this post.
I don’t know you, Matt, but I think you wanted to hug Clark at the end of your time there instead of giving him a firm handshake.
That feeling you have for someone you’ve never met and the common ground is what many of us have in the respect for you and your family as well.
I’ve got a lot of friends flying in the country every day, but I actually thought of you too. I wondered if you were stranded out east the day that happened.
You’re right, Matt, the Corvair thing might be silly, but makes you happy. I think it makes a lot of us happy. I’m not really a Corvair guy, but it gives kind of a nice addition to the channel and I like it, hopefully others do as well.
I love the reverence for the history of it all, and that Matt gets to meet somebody in the industry he reveres. I kind of feel like for me this would be meeting Gail Banks, and getting to go through Banks engineering. Pretty cool. Lol
Of all of the TH-cam channels that I have discovered in the last 5 years (and there have been a couple thousand I'm sure), Matt's is the one that I consistently watch and enjoy every second that I am watching. Good people, entertaining excursions, and simple quality editing. Seeing folks actually enjoying their lives and making others lives less hectic and being entertaining to boot!! A good life and business model to follow!
One thing that sets MORR apart is that it's focused on helping people a lot of the time. Most influencers are all about glorifying themselves to get attention.
I've been ordering part from Clark's since I got my 65 corvair when I was 16 in 1995 I'm so excited to seen this place.
Once upon a time, I had a rental car *Reservation* that was *Pre-Paid* and *Confirmed* . We arrived. They didn't have anything.
I'm pretty sure it was Hertz, so the good news is that when we finally got on the road (hours later), the vehicle wasn't reported stolen and we were not arrested at any point. Amazing.
I rented from Hertz ONCE because Enterprise would not do a one way. NEVER AGAIN. I got billed a month later for cleaning of dog hair. 🤬
Lehto's Law tells about those! 😂❤
Hertz is a dysfunctional company, please avoid at all costs.
I rented from Hertz once, for a trip from here in North Florida to Indiana to take my elderly Mom to her 60th Highschool Reunion. I had reserved a small car. Got there, to find NO cars on the lot. But, I was able to get a 2015 Ford F150 pickup truck. It was actually a nice drive, good truck. Loved the speed control, I was adjusting my highway speed by pushbutton! It was an extended cab, so Mom's oxygen concentrator rode safely in the rear cab. If I'd had the money, I'd have bought that same model truck. 👍
Hey Matt! If you weld or cut with a torch or plasma, make sure you put something down on that floor or it will get ruined very quickly. My dad paid big money for his floor and my brother ruined it in no time.
This cannot be emphasized enough !
Excellent episode! I've been buying parts from Clark's since the 70s, and I still do. I've met Cal a few times, but never made it to their shop. Please mention in a future episode if that new style cooling fan works! Thanks for all the Corvair promotion!
Fun fact: many of Clark's employees have worked there for 20 years or longer, and two of them have been there 40 or more years! Let's help keep them in business!
Jamie is pure gold. How many people caught that she reached over and moved the seat back for Matt before he got in that 1960 Monza. 👊
OK, I re-watched that part and it was the owner of the Corvair place. Comment still stands.
that was Cal Clark that did that
Matt in 1962/63 I worked part time as a gopher (oil changes, swagboy, wrecker driver) at the largest Chevrolet dealer in Odessa Texas, west Texas. The courtesy car to take customers home or bring back to shop to pickup their car was a 1960 4 door automatic Corvair ugly green with a dealer logo which included a bucking horse. The customers hated that car because cars then were full sized. Two big oil field workers was too much for 80 hp.. Corvair PU was parts chaser car… 😊
Pro tip, take a taxi to Uhaul next time. They will get you a truck at breakneck speed.
Can confirm this works great! Last time I did it the U-haul manager gave me a ride to the airport when I returned the truck. Saved a taxi ride.
And then the wheels will fall off the truck...
As long as it's not in late August or early September around Boston!
@@aridragonbeard745 😂👏
No way I would've sat at that car rental place for 1 hour much less 9 hours.
My home town, plus Friendlys. A local chain with a good heart.
Matt, this was exactly how most of us felt coming to the offroad games to meet you, your family, and your crew! I'm glad you got to make the trip. See ya in a few months !!
My first car was a 1960 corvair and I loved it. Let me down one time in 5 years, shifting linkage broke in the tunnel from the shifter to the trans? Had to back up 9 miles to get back to my home so I could fix it. Appreciate your enthusiasm Matt, love the channel. Ralph Nader? 😡 lol
That's hilarious! I can only imagine how long that took. Ha ha ha. 9 miles!
As a lover of old junk Thank you Matt! someone will be driving and thankful for old junk because of your effort!
Born and raised in Massachusetts come on out here in the fall and truly experience how beautiful New England is
I think I know exactly where that Friendly's is
You should be getting ceramic tint to beat the heat and protect those interiors. It doesn't have to be dark, or even visible hardly at all to offer heat dissipation and uv protection.
Glad to hear you're in the position from the success of the excellent content of MORR for several years to be able to achieve your childhood bucket list dream of finally getting to Clarks Corvair Parts and to be able to take care of everyone at Friendly's family restaurant. I enjoy the diverse content and humor you and your crew provide on your channel ... keep up the good work!
It was cute to see Matt as excited about visiting someplace as many people are to visit Matt's offroad!
My lord! Coming to New England and having Friendly's clam chowder as a benchmark. Not a good representation. We have so much better seafood.
Like going to Taco Bell for Mexican food!
They literally live off of gas station food. Have you watched this channel?
Worked at friendly's in New Jersey for about 6 years back in the day! Honey bbq sandwich was definitely the best thing on the menu
Exactly what I was thinking....soon as he said friendly's I said oh boy
Wait wait.. there's friendlys still open? Must be like one of one.. so it may be better than the rest decomposed to
Holy crap!!! An open friendlys!!!!
There closing soon
Haha Seinfeld reference to car rental places still holds strong
My first new car was a 1966 Monza 110 4 speed, Red on Red. Over the years I have restored a 1966 Monza, getting my parts from Clarks. This has been a treat, Thanks.
It was fun visiting Clarks Corvair with you Matt. We had a Corvair Greenbriar van when I was growing up. Enjoying your enthusiasm, and getting your younger crew introduced to the wonder of the Corsair.
9:42 No matter where you park at a new place, it's always the wrong spot lol
I grew up in Massachusetts, and seeing Friendly's gave my heart a little pitter-pat!
Also, my wife and I just had a big "discussion" yesterday about whether to drive my 7.3L diesel ambulance back east for a super fun family road trip, or fly there. So to me, this episode seems full of coincidental signposts! Maybe *I* need to buy a Corvair and drive cross-country!😂
Howdy Hayduke, so you got the ambulance fitted out? Might as well use it for what you got it for!
@@JohnFL Ha! Haven't laid a finger on it, other than to drive it all over! Still, it's a big rolling cabin....so, good to go!

1962 Corvair spider, white exterior, red interior and four on the floor. Fond Memories in the past. Enjoyed your passion.
I think the passion and excitement you have for Corvair's is awesome. It put a huge smile on my face to see your excitement when you drove in and saw all the Corvair's
Friendly’s used to be the best, but they all started to close (at least around me) and it did the typical corporate stuff where they raised the prices and quality dropped.
Hope you enjoyed New England either way!

Love the Berkshires, lived there for a couple of years. Live in Vermont, and know that friendlys you stopped at. What a nice guy to pick up everyone’s tab! That’s a totally Matt thing to do. I can feel your stoke for this trip. Bring Kaulin and Carter next time you’re up here. I live at one of the best mountain bike trail networks in the country, and work as a guide from time to time and would love to show you and your family around.
My first car in 1984 was a 1965 Corvair Monza that I pulled out of a farmers field and spent all of one summer sanding the bad paint off, fixing a big hole in a fender, replacing the clutch, and putting coil spring spacers in to fit 14" dish aluminium uni-lok wheels and junk yard tires. Got a $99 maco paint job and it was my high school car till I graduated.
Friendly's is a chain restaurant that is on the brink of going out of business. They are NOT the restaurant to judge food from.
I had thought they were entirely out of business already. I'm kind of impressed he accidentally found one.

Oh man! You made my day Matt, that little black Corvair with the white convertible top is a twin to the one I had when I was at BYU and loved so much! I couldn't believe it! I just wish you had spent a little more time with it instead of the white Monza. One of my happiest memories is driving across the desert from Barstow to Bakersfield in the evening with the top down and that little motor humming along behind me and a balmy breeze in my hair. Happy Days. Clark's is like Corvair heaven, (where I hope my little convertible is waiting for me someday)
6:06 Well done editor 😂
I've been driving Land Rovers as long as I can remember, and calling Atlantic British on the phone to order parts and hear familiar voices answer (and sometimes recommend things I wasn't even thinking about) is just the best experience. Auto parts were meant to be bought over the phone from a knowledgeable expert who hand-picks them in a warehouse, not from a web portal that directs an Amazon robot to go pick it off a shelf.
Love it My 1st car was 1970 Corsa, 180 hp turbo, red on red, no a/c, 4 spd, wire wheel hubcaps, wood grain steering wheel. Spent sr. Yr high school outside San Francisco eating mustangs!😊❤. Miss that car! Ron Hawkins, TX

Omg the truck!!!!! Those are my passion..... And the vans too. All the old cabovers. If I were in a position I'd have a shop full of all of them. The a100s especially
My first car was a 62 Monza loved it , bought everything I could from the JC Whitney catalog that would work . Gave it to my Neighbor in 1968 when I joined the Marine Corps . Never did understand why a lot of people didn’t like them . Fond memories of days gone by . Thanks for sharing
You need a corvair truck for a shop truck.
Matt, I wish you could have taken the 9 hours Avis stole from you, and you could have added that to your time spent at Clarks Corvair...so glad you fulfilled your dream trip, mister ! 😊
Fun fact, the Appalachian mountain range goes from Georgia to northern Maine and into Canada. That’s why Tennessee and Massachusetts are so similar to you Matt. The terrain is very alike
I'm so glad you showed us Clark's Corvairs I've been on the website many times so now I can envision the place and Cal and his wife are awesome.
I grew up in central MA and it warms my heart so to see a Friendly's again, as well as the Berkshires and Stafford Speedway!! Awesome that you and Jayme got to experience some beautiful southern New England in summer. THANKS for taking me along on memory lane!
And, awesome you got to go to the North Pole of Corvair-land!
Just want to clarify that it wasn't Microsoft and it wasn't a hack. It was a bad update on an enterprise anti-virus, Crowd Strike
But that doesn't sound as Interesting! (But 100% true).
Q: does Cal have someone set to carry on the business? Hope so for Matt’s sake.
I appreciate your passion for Corvair's, I've got the sickness for old toyota trucks from when I was a kid. I am fortunate enough to work for one of the original mechanics of Toyotas here in Vermont. I learn from him every time we work together. Come to Vermont to see the fall colors.
Fantastic episode! The smile on Matt’s face was priceless and Jamie’s patience legendary! Thank you for filming this.
The love..... no, Passion you have for that car is amazing. I really enjoy seeing you this happy. I am glad you worked so hard to get into a position to enjoy it all.
Great that you got to Clarks!. I live in New England and I've driven by it for all of it's 51 years as we travelled either to Maine as a kid or back to see my folks in Western Mass as an adult. I've noticed over those years it grew and grew and is now world famous thanks to your MORR TH-cam. Yes, you should come see it in the fall. Magical time of year in that part of NW Mass. Take Jamie to see the Bridge of Flowers in SF. And if you get stuck in the airport again, call, I'll come pick you up. :)
I had a 1961 and a 1965 corvair convertible white top white interior burgundy paint. I loved it. I was in high school best times ever.
I'm not in the USA so I didn't know about the Corvair's .
I just wanted to say thank you for bringing us with you on this journey.
Thanks for sharing and taking us along
I am so happy for you. The smile and spark in your eyes shows everyone to follow their dreams.
My dad had, I believe, a 1960 Corvair 4 door as his company car. He was a salesman. We lived in Anaheim, California and he worked in LA. To help handling, he put a concrete bag over each front wheel. It was his favorite of all of his company cars. I had a guy I worked with who owned a convertible Monza turbo and he loaned me his car for a date. I am not sure of the year car, but it was the original body style. I believe they were 140 HP. Fun car.
Well, I hope you went into town while you were there and walked across the bridge. It's pretty marvelous little town. Been there a couple times and yes, it does. Remind me of Tennessee also,
Hey Matt, You have a great fan base. Let us help you out when you are in our hometown. I am sure that you have many fans in the Boston area. Many of those fans would be privileged to help you out. You didn't need to spend a night waiting for a pickup rental. As for me, I live near Bangor Maine. If you ever need to fly to Maine, you can count on me or any of your fans to take care of your needs and transportation. You've got friends. Happy trails Joel
I'm in SLC now, but I'm from CT and the area around Stafford Springs. Job I had before moving was in Stafford. Would drive past the Speedway daily to/from work. I could hear the races where I lived some miles away. Boy oh boy did seeing this footage give the ole' homesickness.
I can't believe that you visited Stafford Motor Speedway. I am from St. George, and I lived in Stafford Springs for four years. This fills me with some serious nostalgia. Go Matt, Robby, and the crew.
