I MADE my own Snowmobile TailLight!
I've decided to modernize my SkiDoo snowmobile by building a custom rear LED brake light and removing the large "wing like" structure. Sleds of this day and age ran halogen or dual filament bulbs rather than modern LED lights. This sled is probably one of my favorite to ride so i wanted to give it the upgrades and mods it deserves!
The sled is a 2007 SkiDoo Renegade 800 HO PTEK that was just rebuilt in this series here:

Can’t stand the floor mats, makes it look like a low end work truck,
This video will be timeless, as long as there are the model years affected. Many thanks for sharing this video and taking the time to share it - hero level for the problem I was dealing with!
Glad I was able to help you out! Thanks for the kind words!
Add cruise control please
Do I have to calibrate my aem classic wideband? If so, how do I do it
Depends on the model. The ones I've seen are factory calibrated, but you can calibrate if they are off. Quick way to check is, what is the A/F reading when the car is off on the gauge.
thanks alot man
Glad to help!
You mentioned in the video that you feel like the truck is burning some oil between changes. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I'm going for it anyway. I have the same truck and engine. I noticed that the truck was burning out between changes at about 40k, so I took it to the dealer they have Service Bulletin 19-2365. They changed the oil tweaked the computer and so far so good. Hope this helps.
I'm going to give that a shot. Thanks for the TSB #s. I'll ask next time I'm near the dealer

You said you're located a few hours away from snow, where are you? Same issue here, we're in Southeastern PA, waiting on snow. Need to start planning some trips to New York 😊
Massachusetts here. I think I need to do the same thing and head to NY. Pictures from their winter look great! I usually snowmobile NH from the Campton area.
I just changed my fuel pump on my skidoo and i cleaned the carburetor and reinstalled everything and now when I’m trying to start it gasoline comes out of the exhaust what should I do? There is to much gasoline interring the engine and I have no fire.
What year sled?
@ 2004
@@OGsquad-l8i Assuming 800? I'd clean up all the gas and everything first to ensure you don't have a fire. Then I'd try to figure out why there isn't a spark. I'd start by checking all the connections on the sled, especially where you have been working on it. The MPEM is probably and area I'd focus. Otherwise I'd take measurements at the stator to see why you aren't getting any feedback from it if you don't find anything else.
@@SmackeysGarage IV checked everything the sparks are making fire but it’s like if the sparks have to much gasoline and they can’t explode correctly I don’t know if it’s something with the carburetor we have to adjust?
@@OGsquad-l8ihas it ever run right? If it’s too much fuel I’d start with checking the floats in the carburetors. I’d also check compression.
I think it came out great! I like the super sleek design and it definitely is much brighter and easier to see. You're going to have to put that part on your website too. Oh, and yes, make the video on the engine rebuild. :)
Thanks! I'm definitely very happy with the way it came out. If there is any demand for it I'll make it available for people. Will do on the engine rebuild! Thanks for checkin it out Andy!

Awesome work! Clean modern look!👍
Thanks Mitch! It was a fun project.
I can’t find any kits with the slide springs, where can I get a rebuild kit with those?
These small springs? Skidoo 404162010. Skidooparts has them in stock for ~$16/ea
The only thing I would do differently than you, pump the coolant out first from the reservoir and pull the clutch. Otherwise, I had to pull my 06' GSX 500ss for seals, then a flywheel magneto issue (my fault). You did a great job. I bought this in 2020, it's my first sled, had 3100 miles. It now has 6100 miles, did 600 miles in Quebec after fresh seals. The 500ss is a great motor, run full synthetic in it and a bit rich, it will last a long time.
That's a great tip about taking the coolant out first. I definitely should have done that looking back on the project. Appreciate the thoughts and feedback. Those 06 GSXs are solid machines. Happy sledding! Hope you get more snow than we do down here.
Lots of comments saying 5w 30. I'm going to give that a try. Mine is burning a fair amount, and I change mine at no more than 5k miles. Hoping the 5w30 will help. Thanks yall
Did you disconnect the battery before changing the bulb?
I did not

Hiya, rebuilding my first carb, and this was a helpful first stopping place for putting everything back together. Out of curiosity, are the fuel lines you have there a custom job or a kit? My street avenger just came with nipples and rubber lines, but I’d love the braided lines with the gauge. Thanks for the video!
They are a kit I purchased from Summit racing. If you search carburetor fuel lines you will find it. Good luck with your first carb clean! Definitely take your time and make sure all passages are clean.
I'm fixing to head to my local Costco and purchase a replacement. I want to upgrade to the H8 AGM battery. Should be almost the same prize for higher CCA and CA. Will the reset portion of it be the same to reset and upgrade to the bigger battery or is there something extra I must do?
Yes. You can't do much more than simple reset. I will have a quick look for somethig else in FORScan tomorrow.
Thanks for this. Does this mod up the amperage to the usb c for fast charging?
Sure! I haven't been able to determine that with my iPhone. It seems that Androids give you more access to tell if fast charging is actually happening. I just downloaded an app on my iPhone to try out... I'll let you know if it works. I haven't been lucky with the diagnostic apps on my phone.
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT

Thanks Mitch!
I have the same model truck. My left front brake when lightly applied makes a very very slight clank clank clank rotational vibration noise. It has been doing this since brand new. Rotor was replaced at 200 miles. It still does this and I never took it back to the dealer. Brakes work great. Any ideas on what this could be? Truck currently has 6012 miles,
That sucks... I'd check to see if the slides are free on the calipers. Seems like they should be being so new. Might also be able to see if there is any weird wear on the brake pads. If that doesn't work, I'd try bleeding the brakes, then checking to see if it is the calipers. Let me know if you have any luck.
Look a little rich, can't see the swirl patterns. How did the plugs look?
They looked rich. I recently rebuilt everything and got it running again. I have a playlist that covers the entire rebuild through 3 videos.
That's crazy brother. I've never done that with any of my vehicles. Which brings me to wonder why those don't clogged more often with how small it is. Thank you for doing this video.
Hopefully you don't park the Bronco under too many trees! I was surprised to see how much accumulated in there, but it's been 5 years without cleaning it.
@SmackeysGarage it park in my garage when I'm home, and at work we have an underground parking ramp. The only times I park under any trees is when go to the lake. So that helps I'm sure.
Thanks for the insight. My 09 dodge caliber srt4 will likely get excel Gs and drop springs for my pothole ridden wonderland. The OEM sway bar is large enough to take up any slack.
You must be in New England as well! Thanks for watching.
Can you go back to the original Sync if you wanted to bring it back to factory original?
I do not know the answer to the question. I’ve heard you might not be able to go back.
That machine is worn out
Yep. Lots of miles on it.
Mine was stuck so bad..i kept trying and it actually bent my crank so if it doesmt pop east i wouldn't even pop it
That's crazy. I'm going to try to pull mine again in a few weeks (with a video on the rebuild). I bought the SPI puller and going to give it a shot. Looks like a beefy tool. If the crank doesn't break, the flywheel will... lol
@SmackeysGarage right..I'm going to double check the run out on both sides before anything..I did take out a few small chunks on the flywheel so maybe just maybe the uneven wait is causing it..but might just rebuilt it to be safe...good luck on your build!
They’re nice… but a lot of cheap parts. My clip to hold the rod broke within 3 days super cheap plastic .. even though they’re under warranty it’s just annoying to go through all that process for something that cost $1,200 quality not so great
Sucks to hear. I haven't had that issue yet and I feel like I've been pretty rough on it. Did they just send you the clip as a warranty piece?
how long of a socket extension do you need for the air filter lower screws?
I don't exactly remember, but looking at the tools I used, a six inch extension looks like the one I was using.
@@SmackeysGarage thanks!
I have a 2018 with the shitty e brake and it does not go into maintenance mode.
Ah, that's annoying. I've done the brakes on another F150 that didn't go into maintenance mode and I had to use FORScan to enable it.
My factory LED fog light housing failed on both sides (full of moisture and corrosion and looked terrible) so I bought a very similar set off amazon, i think the were $60. I dropped the bumper since its not held on by much, 4 or 6 bolts from what I remember, made access much easier. They have been on the truck for 3.5 years now and still look and work great - and they out lasted the factory units. The only downside i noticed was they did not fit a tightly as oem, they have a slight amount of play when installed, which i worried would cause vibration and shorten their life, but I have been very happy with them and would 100% recommend them over factory or expensive aftermarket units. Plus the smoked lens looks great on my black f150 as the sport pack color matches the bumper and grill.
Glad to hear. Mine seems a pretty tight fit and I didn't notice it was any looser than the OEM one. I had decent luck with my OEM ones and only swapped them out for the LED look. I'm the same way as you though. I'd 100% recommend these over the factory OEM halogen ones.
@Smackey’s Garage - back in Jun ‘24 our whole-house generator ran 24 x 7 for 6 days. My 3 yr old battery did fine and still shows to be “good” according to the Generac maintenance screen. I did buy another battery in case of another lengthy power outage. I’m wondering if I should get a maintainer for the new battery as it’s just sitting in my garage - waiting to be called into service. Any suggestions? Thanks.
For something like a generator I’d probably want to play it safe and keep it on a maintainer as you said. For my batteries that are in storage I do not do that. I typically do one top off with them before I put them into whatever they are being used for. In your situation though you wouldn’t have that opportunity if power goes out and you find your generator won’t start. The other option would be to check the charge on them or charge them every six months to top it off.
@ - Thank You, Sir - both for your recommendation and the quickness of your response!
Glad to help!
I have a 2002 800R pretty much the same engine. Few internal differences. I am still trying to figure out those 2 impulse ports on the engine. One goes to the fuel pump. The vacuum operates the pump I am told. Where does the other one go? Manuals don't see to indicate what connects to them. Some videos/engines I have seen only have one impulse port. The other is not drilled out. I have a feeling the mag side port on mine, the blue cap came off. I don't recall it having a hose on it. The PTO side did have a hose and I believe it went to the fuel pump. some engines I have seen just have a straight fitting coming out of those ports on both sides (if they have both). Mine like yours has a fitting with a right angle in it, angled up like yours. Would like to know what you did for the PTO side port.
I have a hose going to it. I'll check out what it is going to today when I'm at the sled. A quick look at my manual there is a diagram that looks like it is part of the oiling system, but it isn't clear.
So I need to take my airbox off which I can do tomorrow to determine what the line is going to. Looks like the top of the oil container (matching the diagram online)
@ that should be the one in the middle just above the oil pump. I am referring to the one a bit closer to the PTO side. Right in line with the piston.
The one that comes straight out? That is going to the rave solenoid. If you have instagram, message me there or send me an email and i can send you a picture
What year?

Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Tim! Hope you had a great New Year!
Can't believe you couldn't get the flywheel off. If you are just using propane for heat, might need to try acetylene. That is what I used on mine. Just be careful not to heat it too much that too much heat goes into the stator and melts the wiring. Another trick that people have tried is heat, then candle wax. The heat will melt the wax and it will get pulled into any gaps, just like solder. If you have a decent puller you should be able to put lots of torque on it. Leave the nut loosely on the crank so if it pops it doesn't fly off and hit the floor. I find that alternating heat and taping gains enough to get another 1/8-1/4 turn on the puller, do that a few times and it pops off. Just make sure your bolts on the puller are all threaded in the same amount so the puller is square and not pulling at an angle. Worst you can do is bend or break the puller. Usually pretty hard to strip threads unless using power tools, or the bolts are not fully thread into the flywheel. If you think the flywheel is rusted on the crank try some penetrating oil before doing anything. Though usually heat will break a rust bond.
That's true. I could have used acetylene but was worried about getting it off. You're definitely right about the tools I was using being too weak. I recently purchased the right puller or the SPI puller that I'm going to try out to take it off. The harmonic balancer tool I was using started bending.... Thanks for all the tips. I plan on rebuilding the engine this summer to have a spare 800 on the shelf incase I ever need it. I have another snowmobile video coming up next weekend where I build a custom tail light, which is where I talk about rebuilding the engine at the end. Thanks for watching and thanks for all the advice!!!
