Adding Battery Tenders to the Garage!
Today, I’m installing battery tenders on my vehicles. I’ve been looking for one that is more integrated that I can just mount on the wall. In this video, I’m going to show you how I installed these 3A battery tenders on the wall so that I don’t even need to think about plugging the car in.

I have a cart online right now with the same tekton base combination, ratcheting, and 30/60 wrenches. I"m wanting to stand them on end for room like you did here with your larger sizes. I just got a 69' Mach 1 about a week ago, it's my first car with a carburetor so I'm not too familiar with them. A few days ago it started doing this thing where as soon as I start it the engine stalls after a few seconds. it does not have trouble starting it just doesn't stay running. If I start it then stay on the gas a bit then it's fine but as soon as I let off the pedal it stalls again. What could it be?

      Do you know if you have a choke on the carburetor or know what carb is on the car? It might be worth while reading on how a carb works. You should pump the gas once or twice to get some gas into the engine before you start it. Without enough gas it will either not start or die out.

    The plastic plug is one of the weak points in that system. Who in their right mind would design a plastic plug? FYI, I've had my oil changed at least five times at the dealership (they were free when I bought my 2020 F150 5.0). When I look over the service sheet I see they replace the plastic plug each time. I asked about this and was told the plugs are designed to be replaced, not reused. Since I started doing my own oil changes, I purchased and installed an aluminum plug. The entire plug isn't removed when I drain the oil, only an interior cylinder that unscrews. Drain the oil then screw the cylinder back in. I checked with a friend who is a DM for one of those big companies that offer the quick oil changes. He confirmed they replace plastic oil pan drain plugs each time.

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's interesting. I've never heard of anyone doing that. I ordered a new drain plug to check out. I do like the newer design that has the socket for a ratchet to stick in.

    • @chaosncheckt9356
      @chaosncheckt9356 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SmackeysGarage Totally agree. I did call my son to verify and he confirmed, the company he works for replaces all plastic drain plugs. He added some times they use a red plug, which is an after market version. I'm installing my new drain plug next week (the aluminum one) but I will inspect the old and see if there is any difference between it and another plastic one I purchased from Ford to have on hand. Just watched your shock video and ordered Bilstein 5100 to replace my rear shocks.

      Thanks for the feedback. I tried sharing anecdotal information from reviews. I agree with you though, best path would be for me to take apart my truck and try towing with all of them. Maybe a follow up video at some point.

      What’s the full dimensions of the tires? Width/ rim size / height.

    Will this fix a rich idle?

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It would help by letting more air through… If your engine is running on the main jets rather than the idle circuit and there is no way to adjust that I would take this step. I would start with everything else before you make this modification though. I’d check the idle circuit / throttle plate location and transfer slot exposure. Usually do this for a large cam with little vacuum. How much vacuum are you pulling?

    Just picked up a 79 Fox body car. It has a 351 Windsor in it with cast iron heads. Don't really have any information on the engine besides that. I am having trouble trying to get the car to run right. It smells extremely rich at idle. No matter what I do to the idle circuit it seems to be rich. It has a 650 brawler on it currently. Is it possible that it could be over carbureted.

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I doubt it with a 650. I'd probably pull the carburetor and completely reset everything back to factory settings. I bet the throttle plates will be open too far. There should only be a small square showing in the transfer slots. If it is open too much, the engine will end up running off the main jets and not the idle circuits.
