  • We were in the mood to spread some quarantine love. We made one of our favorite Malaysian snacks or kuih (called onde onde) and delivered them to some of our friends. The best part is they recorded themselves trying it so we got to see their reactions and feedback of it.

Kuih Ketayap is also known as Kuih Dadar kan? I have made that before. I like Nona Manis and cucur badak too. So maybe I will try next. Last week I try cucur Kodok but tak jadi 😕

@@KumaarFamily yes ketayap=dadar antara kuih2 yg simple n easy. Lain2 can try also roti jala, cucur udang, agar2 roti, agar2 santan, kek gula hangus.
Skrg ni Raya Aidilfitri cuba bt kuih raya conflake madu, badam coklat.😁😁
Cucur kodok yg x jd tu silap guna pisang/ tepung? Guna Pisang boleh makan terus yg masak ranum.

my grandmother always cook this if I meet her and she also love to cook kuih ketayap and she give me a easy recipe to make it delicious
    Crepe
    120g flour
    1 egg
    300ml coconut milk (I used 200ml and 100ml water)
    1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoon pandan juice (blend 4-5 chopped pandan leaves with water and squeeze out the juice)
    Filling
90g Gula Melaka (I used 1-2 tablespoons more because I like it sweet)
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 pandan leaf knotted
    50ml water
1/2 grated coconut - use only the white part
    1 tsp cornstarch
Place flour in a mixing bowl. Make a well in the centre and crack in the egg. Slowly stir in salt and coconut milk and 3 tablespoons of pandan juice. You can strain the batter for a lump free mixture. Set aside.
Break up palm sugar and place in a pot, add sugar, water and pandan leave. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves then add the shredded coconut to the pot. Stir to combine all ingredients. Add corn starch to thicken, continue to cook till almost dry. Dish out to cool in a bowl.
Heat up a shallow, lightly greased frying pan over low heat. Add 2 tablespoons of batter in the centre and swirl the pan to coat it to form a thin crepe. I used a spatula to help me in this step. Swirling doesn’t work for me here. Cook a few minutes on each side and transfer to a chopping board to cool.
When all the crepes are cooked, place filling on a piece of crepe and roll it up as you would a spring roll.
if you guys want a try a malaysia food try this simple recipe

The first time I made onde onde was in USA about 12 years ago with fellow Malaysian friends to sell for a charity at my uni cultural festival. This is one of my favourite kuih! The kuih turned out well, of course the big thanks goes to my Malay friends. The Americans were a bit wary of buying the kuih at first due to the color. They said its like St.Patrick color. Most of them said food should not be in green. Was a bit of cultural shock to me. But eventually when we started to explain and convinced them to try, they actually loved the taste. yeah they said its like a fusion of mochi. Enjoyed watching your videos. Watching most of your videos today!

I’ve never left a comment on any YT that I’ve watched.. but yours is an exception!
I loveeee and really enjoyed watching your videos! Tbh, I’ve been on marathon watching your channel ever since I discovered your channel few days ago, and I’m almost done with all! 😂 What you did was just so uh-mah-zing! Please continue entertaining us with your great content!
Btw, for onde onde.. or any other foods that require gula melaka/coconut palm sugar, you might wanna try Madam Yap filtered gula melaka. Their filtered version of gula melaka is soo wangi and so easy to cut through! And since boba milk tea is such a hype in Malaysia (even it’s not originated from Malaysia), must be fun to see your family & friends reaction on your homemade gula melaka pearl milk tea 🥰🥰

When pairing that gift pack of Onde2 and Jackfruit, make sure your receivers or guinee pigs proceed with the fruit first.....the sugar in the Onde2 will tend to numb the tongue and overpower the less sweetiness of the Jackfruit.
