Agree, malaysian really loves their food...infact FYI rachel and logesh if you doesnt know, malaysian boarding school serve 6meals per day. They have breakfast, morning tea time , lunch, tea time, dinner and supper...🤣🤣🤣
Reminds me of my PLKN(NS or National Service Day). We had 6 meal per day. DAMN! Too bad the next GEN wont be able to experience it. Even though some people believe they brainwash us ( which doesn't make sense to me ) but to me it kinda makes us unite as a Malaysian, but this is based on my experience.
Not just boarding school, if got full day seminar or training, usually there 1breakfast, 2 tea time, 1lunch, 1 dinner and 1 supper.. my friends always complaint she cant stick with her diet if she has seminar or training.

Yo this video is LEGIT man, you guys are awesome. I'm a Malaysian who's been working in America for quite some time and everything mentioned in this video is FACTS. Subscribed immediately!
The older generation of Malaysian some of them do speak british English, but not heavy accent like the English people. They speak clearly and pronounce the words correctly and written English is good. But the younger msian generation now speak mixed English and a lot of slang like American english as in Msia we have lots of American tv movies, entertainment, sitcoms, documentary influence. Msia so speak mixed English, maybe our kind of English with local words. If I speak proper English with British English pronunciation, they reply back and say, ohh you are speaking london.... He he...
I am Malaysian and I am dating a British man. I am glad that we do not have many differences in using words and phrases because we both speak in British English ( I do learn some British/Mancunian slangs) and I lived in the UK for a while. My bf is not good in spicy food so I may need to put more effort to train him up XD At least he loves Malaysian food =P BTW Yassss! Eating bad food will definitely ruin our whole day (the aftermath will also affect my working mood for the day too)!!! XP For us, only salt & pepper is too boring and plain af!
I married a British man myself for 22yrs now. We still have some minor misunderstanding which was no big deal. But there is some similarity especially on wet toilet /dry toilet, wearing shoes/no shoes allowed inside house, eating food completely and not to waste.

So I always say my father will pick me up at what time in secondary school & my friends (I went to a school where a lot of my primary school friends didn’t) would ask again, “so your father fetch you what time?”

Hi Logesh Just wondering - how do you address your in-laws? "Dad"? "Mom"?, or call them by their first name? Cos I have a friend married to an English; he'd address both his in-laws by their first names. For me (and I believe Asians too), I'd feel awkward and even disrespectful if I were to do that. Conversely, how does Rachel address her in-laws? Sorry, don't mean to pry. Just curious about this particular cultural 'baggage'.
That’s a really great question! Logesh refers to Rachel’s parents as “Mom and Dad” and Rachel calls Logesh’s parents “Amma and Appa”. But you’re right, we do know a lot of Americans that call their in-laws by their first name!

'on the way' is our Malaysian golden word when we are late. Because we cannot say the word sorry because we late. That will give a bad inpression
@@ariqzero Sorry seems to be the hardest word....hahaha
I don't know why but when i make appt with someone i usually love to be early at least 5-10 mins.... sometimes it's really frustrating when u hv to wait till 30-45mins....😣 ..as for me i don't like to make people to wait for me...😬
Like my late father always said "biar kita tunggu org.....jangan bagi org tunggu kita"..
Same with me, my father would literally say that exact sentence to me. I keep it till this day
Love this one guys! Cultural differences can be problematique even within the same race actually kan...! Great how u guys have found a wonderful middle ground. ❤
what a nice way to start a video.Keep it up
yes that is so true... my friend and i travelled 2 hour to malacca.. just to buy coconut shake...
Hi Logesh! You and Rachel are good figures for making middle grounds! I am also intrigued by another video when a long ago during dating Rachel went to India for a teaching program, was that part of the spiritual teaching or something like a self-sponsored program? Keeping hugging each other and thank you!
I’m started following your TH-cam since MCO. Since then i just love this family
Aww thanks for being such a faithful viewer! So happy you enjoy watching our videos. We’re nothing special, just trying to be our true authentic selves!
Terima kasih kerana buat video tentang ''Tips macam mana nak ambil hati orang Amerika''
Translation: Thanks for making video about ''How to Tackle American Girl Heart''
Agree, malaysian really loves their food...infact FYI rachel and logesh if you doesnt know, malaysian boarding school serve 6meals per day. They have breakfast, morning tea time , lunch, tea time, dinner and supper...🤣🤣🤣
Reaallly!! That so coooll
Reminds me of my PLKN(NS or National Service Day). We had 6 meal per day. DAMN! Too bad the next GEN wont be able to experience it. Even though some people believe they brainwash us ( which doesn't make sense to me ) but to me it kinda makes us unite as a Malaysian, but this is based on my experience.
because our Malaysian foods is the best....and with a cheap price, can eat delicious foods and some stall open 24/7.....
Not just boarding school, if got full day seminar or training, usually there 1breakfast, 2 tea time, 1lunch, 1 dinner and 1 supper.. my friends always complaint she cant stick with her diet if she has seminar or training.
I enjoyed this video! Very relateable! You guys are super cute!
My colleague said this to me
"Are you having bun in the oven"
I was like...huh? (Bila pulak aku masak roti ni?)
🤣
Hahaha! That is so funny!
OMG.. hahahaha. it means "rumor said you are pregnant!!!!" like hiding your pregnancy.
Ini kelakar
That's must be an awkward situation for you. Standing there and try to think what is bun in the oven mean. 😂
😂😂
Not all Malaysians arrive late, some of us are VERY punctual!
That's right
but were famous for what we call "Janji Melayu" haha
@@DxN0429 maybe only for the malay people

OK!
Yeah, wearing shoes in the house, another American mystery which I cannot understand at all. I mean, shoes can carry lots of germs and dirty stuff outside into the house.
guys...i'm a malay guy and i subbed to your channel because of this video. Thanks, it was an awesome experience to get some insides as well as i am into westerner haha
I might be late watching this beautiful video and I can relate to everything Logesh brings into the topic. Food is definitely the most important part of our lifestyle and I am glad he holds true to his beliefs till this very day! I appreciate you enjoying our food too, Rach. How's things are in Klang, Malaysia? Would love to hang out with you guys given the chance!! From a Klang La Sallian to the other! Peace out!
Wow.. Such a wonderful memories u guy had..
It was definitely fun to reminisce!
Oh I uses “pulling your leg” a lot.
Early dinner or late dinner = in fact we eat all day 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We too always travel to Penang, malacca, Ipoh, Klang a day trip just for food..
We Malaysians love our food!
Omg, the the on the way is so classic of us... My sister always so that but she actually still at home! hahahaha. About the dinner, I found out about it long time ago that their supper is our dinner time. Gosh... I guess our supper at mamak is like their late night snack, lol. My encounter with language was when I was in US back in1995 (no handphone yet), I asked the airport guard where is the public phone.. boy... She was giving me that look wth you talking about. Hahahaha. I have to explained to her what I'm looking for and she told me over there it call payphone. I think you didn't encounter that since you guys are younger than me. But Rachel is a very polite American so Kumar you got a good one!
Haha I’m sure soooo many Malaysians have stories like that about anytime they interact with a Malaysian!! Even though both people are speaking English there’s different words for things! Like even here we call handphones cellphones, lol
I saw the notification then i straight away watch your video 😂 i love you guys 😁 sending lots of love from Malaysia 💕🇲🇾
Aww thanks for being such a faithful viewer! Hope you enjoyed it!
Wow, over 52k subs and the Kumaars still reply to their viewers comments. Well done! Keep it up! Btw as someone who lived their whole life in Malaysia, I can totally relate with the food opinion. Can you imagine, training a child fasting without having any of those delicious food and kuih when they breaking the fast? For Malaysian food is not just for fuel, it was also for comfort and encouragement. It's our reward after a whole day of hard work.
We definitely try to respond to as many comments as we can, but it can get a bit difficult with taking care of two little ones! But thank you 😊 And yes! It’s so hard not having all the delicious food and kuih here in America. That’s why we’ve had to learn to make our own!
Logesh: I'll come fetch you
Rachel: STOP MAKING FETCH HAPPEN
I have seen people across cultures but Rachel is the most considerate human being....she is just awesome 🙏
I am a Malaysian living in the states too! and found it difficult to adapt to American English when I came here the first time. I said I need to go to the toilet and my American friends told me, "You mean restroom?" hahaha I get used to the different English terms after 4 years living here. Anyway, I love watching you both, and hello from the West Coast too!
great content dude, proud as Malaysian
I can't believe how true all the fact about Malaysian.i will.definitely drive along way for foodhunting . thank you sharing this.. how sweet and enjoyable to know the journey of you both getting to understand each other
Rachel is still getting used to the extreme food hunting, haha. Glad you enjoyed watching!
Haha... my wife and I once drove for 2 hours to go eat at a banana leaf restaurant.
@@farouqomaro598 yep.. definitely malaysian 😄👍👍
He he...
I am a Malaysian,married to a Japanese.l have been married for 22 years.We live in Japan.Feel you guys.
I am Malaysian and I am dating a British man. I am glad that we do not have many differences in using words and phrases because we both speak in British English ( I do learn some British/Mancunian slangs) and I lived in the UK for a while. My bf is not good in spicy food so I may need to put more effort to train him up XD At least he loves Malaysian food =P
BTW Yassss!
Oh... I love this video very very much. Logesh hairstyle looks good and so handsome. Rachel looks so pretty, graceful and speaks so well with empathy and open. Logesh also cracks me up coz he is a total Malaysian. Both of you complement each other and I believe gratitude being blessed to be together as life partner. Love you both and keep the videos coming, appreciate to listen to Rachel more as it's fun to hear from the other side (me being Malaysian) how she feels life as American with a Malaysian spouse. Hahaha ... Kaypoh!!! Love your videos and family❤️❤️
Rachel here! Thanks so much for your very kind and thoughtful comment! We’ll have to do more videos like this soon ❤️
Bro Kumaar...on the Malaysian punctuality part...
Sometimes, we just make it as a " flexible time"...😀😀
So true!
Ha ha ha
Thats true.
Otw meants "still at home".
Typical Malaysian...
I'm Malaysian, I used to be quite punctual. Rarely am I late. Nowadays more flexible 😂
God bless you and your families, love your simplicity, keep up
Malaysians know about good food, that's one thing I really miss in Germany. So one thing I miss most is hot, spicy food and teh tarik...
It’s so true! Being away from Malaysia really makes you grateful for the food you can get back home!
You're on my recommended leh!!!!!! Anyways i loved the first one the "Oh no, you don't have to take off your shoes."
Hi Logesh. I live in the U.K. for over 20 years and we use the word ‘ I will pick you up’ and not fetch though ..
Guess its a Manglish then. "Fetch you" is very common here in Malaysia.
+radiahluron you must be right, probably
Manglish!
Aiyoo despite living abroad, we tend to communicate in ‘ manglish’ amongst fellow Malaysians in the U.K. As the saying goes, you can take me out of malaysia but you can never take malaysia out of me😊
When I was studying in UK people couldn’t believe I was from Malaysia as I have an American accent & don’t speak manglish 😂 thanks to my primary school teacher who was educated in the US. So I always say my father will pick me up at what time in secondary school & my friends (I went to a school where a lot of my primary school friends didn’t) would ask again, “so your father fetch you what time?”
perbezaan yang menyatukan. i love it!
One of my friends was joking and said "I'm just pulling your leg." Me be like "What do you mean? Do you want to pull my leg?" haha. And the friend burst into laughter and said "Joking lahhhh ngok." damn, 😂
Hahahaha! Sounds like something Logesh would say!
very good info.. but communication very important like both of you did.. 👌❤️🇲🇾
Kami tetap anak Malaysia Kumaar. But whatever it is ...be it Malaysian or American we can adapt to the culture, food, beliefs etc if understanding plays an important role. U guys nailed it!!!😍👌Am l right or am l right?😊
You are right Sara! Malaysians are very adaptable 😀
Both of you so humble, I love it
Hi Logesh
Just wondering - how do you address your in-laws?
Can you guys do the part 2 of this topic..? So fun and funny to see how different between Malaysian vs American culture
Maybe in the future! Let us know if there’s other things about dating a Malaysian or American we could add!
Both of you beautiful couple n love watching all your videos...i dont even skip the ad
So glad to hear you enjoy our videos! Thanks so much!
you look better with this hair style than than the previous
Hahaha sometimes we malaysians don't even call when picking up the person.. we just blast the car horn till the person comes out 🤣🤣

I'm a Malaysian and I have my dinner early. 8-9pm would be my supper.
That’s another thing we didn’t really mention, Americans don’t have supper just dinner!
Then we got our "dunch" dinner at midnight... It's like lunch.... but 12 o'clock.... In the midnight... At the mamak.... Roti telur goyang.... Dang, i need it now!
My tea time is around 3-4pm and my dinner is around 6-7pm. Gives you time to digest food if you have an early 10pm bedtime
This family is soooo amazing... their videos are so interesting

If dating a Malaysian, if you want to meet at 6pm, make sure to set the appointment at least at 5pm.
Bro Logesh.. In future make a cekodok for tea time snacking while doing some video talks like this video.
Logesh actually did make cekodok pisang (Rachel loves it!) in our Merdeka video, but it’s a little hard to tell ;)
