    So Ford is saying the GTF has 351kw + up to 15% overboost for a max of 403kw. The GTS has 430kw. With the GTF having an average of 19kw more power yet rated 27kw less are FPV underestimating or HSV overestimating power output or does the HSV have massive drivetrain loss compared to the FPV?

      Its a bit of both, ford always underrates and holden always overrates power figures. Both are great cars but the ford is just that bit extra :D

      carguy _351 nope. The falcon uses the standard driveline while the hsv uses a 9.9" diff with stronger driveshafts so its always going to show less on the dyno. However in the real world the gts and even the lsa r8 belts the gtf or any factory for you throw at them.

      Either way which one is quicker isn't the real issue here, the point being is this one point fellas, which one gets that leggy blonde or brunette Inn the passenger seat for the ride home. My bet HSV its got that special quality about it that turns heads. They even sound sexy 🤔🇦🇺👍🙋‍♀️

      You're comparing a 4x4, too a sports car....holden lover logic....
      Holden couldn't make a descent engine, they had to get them from GM. Ford runs, a Ford engine. If you then argue that GM owns Holden, that further proves my point. Holden themselves, couldn't build a descent engine.

      @@jacobwright5773 mate, I'm a mechanic, and I work on these vehicles alot, doing performance based work. Holden haven't run a 6cyl motor that's theres since the 202, and there 304 was based off the 350 chev, and that was canned in 1997. Holden for the most part, haven't build anything here for a long time. The ls motors aren't even built here. Holdens are always in workshops, significantly more often the fords, for dumb failures, and poor engineering. Sure, any manufacturer will have issues, but don't kid yourself mate, holden sold out on Australians the day they brought the Opel insignia in as a commodore back in the 70's. The holden brand is so great, they have the highest complaints of any brand in this country, struggling to sell 5 new Commodores a month, to private buyers, and import and rebadged daewoos. Ford is no angel, and have had issues too, but significantly less then Holden.

    Any torque figures to show us? A few more kilowatts won't do much if you're lacking in torque, as previous dyno tests have shown

      Gts puts down less kw but more torque. Both would read more but its running a bigger stronger diff and driveshafts so it will look a little shy on the dyno but beats the gts in the real world.

      @@rocketmagnet427 fastest acceleration happens at peak power. Power is torque times revs so obviously the holden if it has "heaps more torque" can't rev for shit. And that fpv with a supercharger would have better drive ability with the boost coming on really early. Honestly if you owned the holden it would be awesome and sound great but you'd be slower than the ford and be filling it up with your eyes closed.

    Never believe the brochure!! Holden/HSV ALWAYS overrate the power produced from their vehicles than what they do in reality and Ford ALWAYS underrate the power produced from their vehicles than what they do in reality. GO FORD!!!!!! Beating HSV at their power game...again :P
    Both brands are iconic to Australia and both names (Falcon and Commodore) will be sadly missed by all.

    People fail to realize the huge price difference between the 2 cars, if you put the same amount of money into a F6 it wouldn't even be a competition. don't get me wrong a couple years ago i was a hardcore Ford fan saying fuck the commies but i have grown to like the new HSV's, they are a good looking car but that is not what its about. if you want a great looking car exterior and interior with great power and have a fuck tone of money to spend on a car get a HSV GTS, but if you are looking for a same amount of power for less than half the price with a decent exterior and (i'm not gonna sugar coat it) a shit interior, buy a F6 and put some money into the engine and you will be under half the price of a HSV-GTS. This is just an opinion you don't need to get your knickers in a twist but i think even the hardcore commie boys should be able to agree with me to a point.
    But at the end of the day we should think about it this way, we love our Aussie made cars and they are both sick cars... even if the commie engine is a corvette engine XD

    I don’t understand how transient overboost works on a supercharged engine, how do they bleed off excess boost? I get it with a turbo engine, you can control the wastegate. Does the supercharger have a bleed off valve? If yes where does the boosted air go? Do they do it another way, like prevent the drive by wire throttle from opening 100% or hold back timing, I.e. it’s not really overboost.

      Yes. I have the FPV so don't know how the HSV operates but I believe they use the same Harrop supercharger. There's a flap that opens that dumps all the boost. When you are cruising down the highway at normal speeds the supercharger isn't producing any boost, it's all being dumped. Reason. You don't need the power and superchargers do drain a lot of power when they are boosting hard. It's about fuel economy, Transient overboost on the other hand is all about timing and stopping the engine from detonating. If conditions allow (primarily manifold inlet temperature) the engine will give full power, if it runs out of spec the timing gets retarded. You notice the power loss the most in the city where the engine gets hot sitting in traffic. On the open road they fly. And yeah technically I guess it's more engine protection than overboost as such. XR6T's "overboost" too, people either don't know or it doesn't get talked about much. It's just timing at the end of the day.

    I like my Ford but they are both great cars now. The Gen3 Coyote is arguably the best V8 in this category. The LS engines also have many huge merits. Very sad both are not made. If only Ford could vision a 2 door XR6T AWD and sold globally it would shit all over the mustang.

      Yeah I agree heaps and also I met a bloke from the hsv club with the same year model gts and he got 533hp to the rear wheels and also the hsv does a 12.4 on the quarter while the fpv does 13.1 which shows that their result sound very off

      Not really I've owned the 320 gtp an currently have the fg f6t..... as far as speed an power go the f6 is extremely quick... take some weight out of it and create more lock and it's a very fun car.

      The fact is the gts runs a bigger 9.9" diff and stronger driveshafts so that will use more power. Sure is funny watching you ford boys circle jerk over dyno numbers when the gts belts the gtf by a good margin and not just in a straight line. And while it may have 1.2 cubic inches more the lsa is the smaller lighter more powerful engine. You should rewrite your comment (the gtf runs 3 more cams and 16 more valves and a timing chain as long as the car and gets beat by the gts in every way in the real world. Hope you frame that dyno readout haha

      The claims are at the crank, but the power at the wheels gives an idea of drive train power loss which is usually situated around 15-25% depending on make and age. To be fair though, FPV isn’t claiming stupid power outputs but rather what is available on tap.

      I was about to ask where the w1 comparison was, not gonna lie i dont think im ever going to buy a Ford but i can still see that they make good cars, i just prefer Holden because my family has had them for as long as i can remember, (we got a ssv redline before they were all gone) i just dont see the point of everyone telling each other what car is better. Everyone has their own preference, why can't people respect that?

      My mate has a 2013 GTP that does 11.1 in 400m sprint on street tyres. (with x-haust and tune) Standard they do 12.3 to 12.6 range
      My BF FPV Pursuit does 13.2.
      Dont ask me to prove anything because with time slips because I dont need to prove anything.
      Ford engine small on size big on power in comparison holden motor big is size small on power.
      Just accept it.
      With the amount of power the hsv has claimed it should be much quicker than what it is.
      If you are saying it shits over the ford in other areas such as modern features handling etc I would agree with you but dont be bias and brain washed be the stupid car magazines.
      All the magazines are bias,
      Ford knew they were closing down 3 years ago hence why they never updated to any modern features like the hsv's have.
      For me personally I wouldn't buy any ford or holden anymore, and I think they both will go downhill from now.

      @@Prissyoh and yes the gts at the engine puts out more power but the bigger gearbox 9.9" diff and stronger driveshafts do use a bit of power getting it to the wheels. Where the fpv/ford use an overboost function to protect the driveline. And the gts even if it puts less power down puts more torque down and is faster everywhere in the real world.

    HSV boys keep talking about more torque all the time and though it is true that the Chevy has more torque its really a no brainer Chevy has a much bigger engine, to achieve that higher torque figure. I wonder what would happen to the numbers if Ford made an engine of equal size to the Chevy? The Chevy boys seem to forget about that little detail what is it 1.2 litres? Mmmm? The "little" Coyote gives up a lot of cubes but makes more HP and is only just shy on torque. As another person said what would have happened if Ford made another F6? Probably would of spanked them both

    When the cars are made they come into the hsv factory with GTS or club sport or gtsr or maloo the engines come in the car of the truck they do the rest of the car the shocks the black pads the kit they do a lot but the gtsr was a order you put in that’s why there are not much so if you wanted to spend money go to the holden dealership and put in the order and they were only sold from hsv they weren’t in the show rooms cause when there off the truck and it starts it really loud and people want it it doesn’t last long n the show room floor

    What a load of crap! No doubt the Ford is a excellent product, but your data is flawed. Even with transient overboast (estimated 404kws) the powertrain transmission loses seem a bit low? Less than 20% power train lose in RWD setup, I am not so sure. If the HSV was generated 430kW SAE at the 6000rpm, it would appear to have power train loses of 28% compared the the FPV's 19%. It proves to me Wheels is a shit mag

      Holden comes from England they were originally saddle and coach builder's and then moved to Australia and assembled all sorts of brands including early fords and then moved to building their own with design's and development from Chevrolet and Opal
