It's been said before, but deserves repeating, we had Elle McPherson and replaced it with Mrs Brown.
As a kid, visiting your local Holden or Hsv ( for some people Ford) dealer was like the Mecca, seeing the new models coming out.
The Aussie Utes, the rumble of the V8's and 6cyl engines.
Bang for your Buck, best in the world!!!
Building Quality defeigns a nation, for Us by Us and exported throughout the world.
      This reflected our national values.
Not make, take, use, abuse and throw away. This is what Australians traditionally despised about other nations who treated their people that way.
These cars have value for money and appreciate in value as the years go on.
Our Car is like our best friend, which gets you from A to B.
A bit of love, care and periodic maintenance will serve you well forever.
As apposed to today's pushed mentality of use, abuse and throw to the scrap heap.

To my Australian brothers, Thanks for making these great Holden Commodores. Sorry to tell you that all the presses, welding and ancillary machines have now been shipped from your Holden factory in Elizabeth SA to our GM Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly where the new Chevy SS will be built in 2021 with a minor cosmetic makeover from the 2017 model which was built in Australia. In years to come it is possible that these amazing cars will be exported back to Australia from the USA. How mixed up is this? I have driven the Chevy SS and I believe it to be the best 4 door car ever built in the world with its 415hp LS3 V8. Take care.., David Matherson

The Filipino supervisor named Cherry would tell everyone to park their cars down the street whilst he parked his own inside the factory on the same day...another (old guy with beard) spent hours making a home made trophy for one employee in working hours and told him he had to suck his you know what because he had been wrong about something....I loved working on the cars as I am an enthusiast who has had 13 years experience in car assembly but in my two attempts to make a career at HSV it was thwarted by bad supervision and their decisions

You must have been dropped on the head as a kid.... show me one video, or any evidence of ANY standard ford/fpv that even comes close to this car down the drag strip, or around a track! This car will lap 15-20seconds a lap faster than an F6.
The VF HSV n/a 6.2 ls3 is faster than a sprint around a track.... ahahah ford cant make cars turn or brake, and down the 1/4 they're still average.

ASD350SXF comparing $100-170,000 cars to $50,000 cars, you're a real smart one aren't you. I never said standard. For the money you'd save buying an XR6 turbo over this $170k HSV, if you invested even a quarter of that money on the XR6t, the HSV would never have a chance of catching it in any kind of race.

This video just really shows the difference in philosophy between old , muscle car speed shop way of building and today’s mass manufacturing ... unfortunately also why HSV is yet another to bite the dust ... the average consumer just doesn’t put a value in pure labor... they want the whole package signed sealed warrantied no questions ask / throw the whole thing away if one part doesn’t work.

LEARN FROM ME. I was a 4-6 cyl turbo guy. DO NOT drive a V8! Seriously. It will ruin you. Once you drive one, you won't want any other engine. And this a problem. I don't GAF about economy with a noise like that!

    • @themancuniancandidate2744
      @themancuniancandidate2744 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

True dat. I grew up in England and always drove cars with high output/small displacement engines (when you're paying upwards of $2.50 a litre for fuel....) like most performance car enthusiasts there. V8s were for Range Rovers and Jags. When I got my Aussie citizenship last year I treated myself to an XR8, and haven't look back. It's almost cartoonish, and it makes me grin every single time I fire it up. And right now I'm shopping for a late Commodore SS-V so I can try out that LS series 6.0 V8. Fuel economy? Pfff. I wanted economy, I'd buy a Nissan Micra.

Absolutely absurd that our ability to satisfy our local and international market in producing our own automobiles has been denied us! Left hand drive cars produced at Elizabeth were well accepted in the USA! The whole operation should have been centralised in South Australia, Engine plant and HSV! Poor decision making killed it all in the end!!!

An entire manufacturing industry gone, destroyed. All this talent could of been put to use to recommence an Australian owned and operated (not GM subsidiary) global auto maker focused on developing new age hybrid or purely electric vehicles, with niche market internal combustion lines, but an ideologically and TPP driven Liberal government brought it all to a close. Total insanity. Absolute insanity.
