      I remember Andy 3 years ago nailing the post-talk of one of Carlitos's first big win again Tsitsipas. Debating with the other two hosts "I don't think if this is even an upset". One of the big stars who first figured out Carlitos potential. Great, Andy. I saw him at his prime as a player too and he was scary ;)

      Andy’s analysis is always so spot on! If you listen to Novak’s presser, his analysis of the match he PLAYED is the same as what Andy says here. And Andy recorded this 7 mins after the final. How lucky are we to have witnessed 20 years of the big 3 and got 20 more of Alcaraz and Sinner. And how fortunate for Spain to basically have 40 years (20 in the past and 20 in the future) of tennis dominance.

I didn't expect him to beat Alcaraz but if he had that would have been the most epic achievement in tennis, ever: pushing 40yo and beating a 21yo prodigy immediately post surgery. At this rate, Alcaraz will better Swiatek in numbers. He is 21, Swiatek is 23. Alcaraz has won slams in all 3 surfaces but Swiatek has won only in Clay and hard court, not in grass. But also Swiatek is improving , her serve got better nowadays. Once she starts winning in grass, there is no stopping her. She is the most consistent player in women’s, her winning percentage is more than 90% this season. Also Swiatek has less injury history than Alcaraz. That will also play a major role who will end up more slams. Right now, considering Alcaraz is 2 years younger than Swiatek he is staying ahead in the race. But things will change once Swiatek starts getting comfortable in grass and faster courts and winning. Let’s see.

      @leonardtay911 Well, if you have an injury, do as Sabalenka did, withdraw, and maybe people can take you at your word, 🤔, but you do not get to beat up on one side of the draw and then lose to the eventual champion, and then claim you have an injury 😉 . That spot in the draw could have been reserved for an uninjured player 🤔

    I really do think Carlos' serve is going to continuously improve in time especially as a spot server, i think he can do what djokovic did with his serve and if that coincides with his physical peak over the next few years, he'll be absolutely diabolical to face 😌
    Can we talk about how different the RG & SW19 wins for Carlos was? RG taught him that he can win slams without his best tennis, relying significantly on his mental tenacity & grit; SW19 was much of the same up to the final where he demolished Djokovic. So special

    This is why I think Served is the best tennis nerd podcast. This guy was in the trenches and he's a true student of the game on top of that. To give the inside-tennis breakdown and I think more importantly providing the context that only top players that have played top players have, is the most rewarding part of his podcast. Thanks Andy for doing this.

    Swiatek vs Alcaraz
    I would say Swiatek has a solid 1.5 slams a year.
    I would say Alcaraz has 1-3 slams a year.
    The difference being both estimates is Alcaraz getting injured.
    Also depending on the competition: Swiatek's main competition is surface, while Alcaraz's main competition is players

      Not many good grass players out there, honestly. And guys like Bublik or Struff (good grass court players) are way off reaching latter stages of SW19. And, btw, guys like Sinner, Zverev or Meddy are not good grass court players. They’re just good enough to proceed despite playing on grass.

    • @bobbymoore6013

      Exactly, false sense of Novak's chances in this match, because he handled very little competition before this final, he didn't have to really test out his knee like Carlos did to him. Hes a great champion and I've always been cautious to discount him because I knew he would prove me wrong, but with his age and the young and very good competition, this match felt like the end of his grand slam chances.

      If he was able to play and get "reps", as Andy calls it, on the highest level, on the same slam that he has the best chances of winning under normal circumstances, in order to prepare for the Olympics which is his biggest goal of the year, why wouldn't he? How is that ego?

    • @yoophillip
      @yoophillip 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      With the physical way Carlos plays, we have to see if he can win enough slams in his 30s while injury free. As Andy has said before he needs a little bit more of that defensive playing style of Djokovic if he wants to be more consistent and last longer. Aggressiveness will only go downhill past mid 20s. Carlos already missed AO and masters because of hip and wrist injury. You think he can go 10 years without any side effects?? I think 15-20 slams is more reasonable if he is healthy.

    • @zhao11214
      @zhao11214 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yoophillip i mean he has 4 and only 21. no one can challenge him right now except sinner. alcaraz is still a step ahead of sinner right now. with assumption alcaraz only wins 2 a year, he reaches 15 by age 26. still absolutely prime. no way his body will break down by then.
      he also has a bit of luck on his side, that a player of his caliber rose to greatness at the very end of big 3 era. He's like rafa.. except without a peak federer standing his way. imagine how many grand slams rafa would have without federer? How many times did rafa lose to federer in his early years? Alcaraz doesnt have a federer to compete and catch up to. he only had to deal with a old novak

    • @yoophillip
      @yoophillip 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@zhao11214 You don’t think another younger player will arise to compete with them? Federer being six years older than Djokovic thought too that he would keep dominating and look what happened he was forced to split the cheese with two others. It always happens 100% even to all the past legends. Within four or five years another dominant force will emerge.
