Andy's stream of consciousness is better than most official 'commentating' and analysis. Incredible performance from Carlitos!
I mean he was a crazy good tennis player:)
He picked Michelson to make quarterfinals…
I remember Andy 3 years ago nailing the post-talk of one of Carlitos's first big win again Tsitsipas. Debating with the other two hosts "I don't think if this is even an upset". One of the big stars who first figured out Carlitos potential. Great, Andy. I saw him at his prime as a player too and he was scary ;)
Andy’s analysis is always so spot on! If you listen to Novak’s presser, his analysis of the match he PLAYED is the same as what Andy says here. And Andy recorded this 7 mins after the final. So he couldn’t have seen Novak’s presser. Incredible analysis! I just wish we could listen to him commentating live in some of these matches.
Andy "without a CAP 🧢" Roddick
I’m so happy to have lived through the big 3 era and extremely grateful to be witnessing Carlos’ era of tennis
Same here mate❤
Me too. Novak will always be my favorite and I hope he can still win a few more big titles. But Carlos is the King. I think he will break all the records in the future. He is playing the tennis of the future, and he is the most talented player I've ever seen.
agree. but also really hope carlos get some competition, and doesnt steam roll thru everything. his level of dominance is like iga swiateks dominance on WTA, except carlos is great on EVERY surface, while iga so far is mostly dominant on clay, less so on hard, and not a great grass player.
@@zhao11214Sinner? They always have great matches on every surface.
@@telmolicious sinner is very good player obvoiusly. but so sinner has failed to beat alcaraz in grand slams since 2022.
Carlos was absolutely amazing today. Full credit to him
I think we can all agree that what Carlitos produced out there was outlandishly great. Absolute belief, absolute clarity, absolute domination.
seriously might be one of the best perfomances ive ever seen. was producing incredible shots one after the other
It was a shared responsibility. A+ performance from Alcaraz. C+ for Djokovic. This was one of his worst performances in recent memory largely due to his compromised movement. Don’t kid yourself into thinking this was an all-time performance.
@@bradleydavis9502 I was at centre court watching Novak demolish Musetti. His movement and shot making were apex. He was psyched out by Alcaraz plain and simple. He didn’t believe he could win and he was right.
@@divinitymode9364👍
@@bradleydavis9502 People idolise their favourite athletes and lose objectivity. Novak was fine enough to beat all the other opponents and even got some rest in the quarter-finals, so we just have to get to the conclusion that he’s 37 and not the best anymore. He might still beat the Musettis and Runes easily but he’s no match for a in form Alcaraz, of course. Simple as that.
Phenomenal Carlos. He played better than all of his other matches. He was focused and relaxed. What a phenomenal win for Alcaraz. Wow!
Maybe you can finally believe in him.
Agreed. He played his best tennis today, which was enough to bet Nole. But he didn’t play his best tennis throughout the tournament. Conversely, Nole had a much easier draw
@@brendajohnson5525 I'll have you know KCNwokoye is a superfan and comments on every video I've ever seen about Carlitos. He's a massive fan and believer in his natural talent.
Last year Carlos had to overcome so many jitters. This time he was on a mission to shut that door and fast. He is absolutely phenomenal.
@@pawshands9706 agreed. He played amazing. You could tell he was going to win form his first point
Love hearing Andy speak on the game and players. Best tennis analyst because he can speak from a players POV which not many can do. So good!
I enjoy his pov as well! Many of the GS commentators are former slam winners, e.g. Navratilova, McEnroe, Barty, King, Austin, Evert, etc. Love the depth Andy goes to in his analysis though!
@@jackiekafu what do you mean, nearly all the commentators are former players lmao
@@Rory626Andy is a lot younger than the other commentators. He actually played against Djokovic
@@patrickl6987 That's true. Nick Kyrgios has been commentating Wimbledon this year too which has been super insightful
One thing I admire about Andy is he is always fair and accurate in his commentary. 💙
Accurate?
The best one there is!
Nah he hates Djovkovic. But it's fine, so do I 😅
@@eduardochernia 🤣
That's some fair and balanced commentary, it's absurd to suggest there is hate in that commentary. Everyone has a preferred athlete they like, but this commentary is a fair critique that is actually enriching in terms of getting a different perspective to the post match analysis ... Very refreshing.
Andy's comment that "He is already a legend" is a huge compliment. Wow. Thank you, Andy.

Who is already a legend?
Carlos now has won more majors than Arthur Ashe, Andy Murray, Del Potro, Roddick, Hewitt, Kuerton, Ivanisevic, etc. and tied Courier. While winning 4 majors on all 3 surfaces 3 years ahead of Djokovic, 2 years ahead of Federer and 1 year ahead Nadal.
and Stan W
And he's more dominant than any of those. And expert in practically every type of shot. Nuts
@@davidsc4680thats not true. Federer was way more dominant from 2004-2008. Djokovic was way more dominant from 2011-2015. That being said, Alcaraz definitely has less of a competition to worry about compared to the great 3.
@@ladro_magro5737 At 21? No way. At his age, they were not like him at all. Wait for Carlitos to be 25-30

thanks for all your work these last two weeks andy!
That game before he dropped the service game 40-0 was one of the best games I’ve ever seen from a player. Carlos is so steady and so gutsy. 4 slams before 22? Ridiculous lol
Facts. He was 100% perfect match. Then that lapse moved him to final grade 99.9% 😎
Full credit to Alcaraz today, Novak's right, he's just too good, on a different planet today!
Big congrats to Carlitos, was rooting for him the whole time. But it’s also amazing that Novak made a grand slam final just month after surgery amazing
Practically no one believes he had much of an injury
Cakewalk draw
Both comments above be are spot on; fake injury and a piss easy draw 😂
Did he have an injury 😅?
@@GabrielGardner-wx2phA truly stupid, uninformed comment. Provide evidence that a great sportsman 'faked' his injury and surgery. Clearly, you're a kid under the age of 30....more like 18. Grow up.

What Andy said is absolute correct, going into this tournament with minimal rehab after knee surgery, having to worry about whether the knee will even hold up through 5 setters, and still made it to the finals and got beaten by fittest warrior out there. Just saying that is absolutely insane and that achievement is severely under-stated by the critics.
When you're a Lion....even lame, limping and half dead....he's still a lion....that's Djoko.
Damn listening to Andy Roddick talk really shows you the depth of the game at that level, sheesh. Brilliant analysis of the final, thank you sir.
Was waiting for this post!!! The French open finals one was amazing!!!! Made me a fan of this podcast
Both are winners : Djokovic for reaching the finals despite short of healing time & Carlos for winning it in style
Andy without a cap, let’s savour this moment. We need more nerdy technical analysis thrown in.
Completely agree with Andy when he says Carlos is a great player, one of the most entertaining players to watch and is also a class act outside the court. How lucky are we to have witnessed 20 years of the big 3 and got 20 more of Alcaraz and Sinner. And how fortunate for Spain to basically have 40 years (20 in the past and 20 in the future) of tennis dominance.
My mensicus tear surgery was a 3 month long recovery. For Novak to feel confident enough to compete, let alone make it to the final was extraordinary. I didn't expect him to beat Alcaraz but if he had that would have been the most epic achievement in tennis, ever: pushing 40yo and beating a 21yo prodigy immediately post surgery. Also, pro athlete doctors and PTs are on another level...
I love tennis. Watch it all the time. Follow r/tennis religiously. Read match write ups.
Done this for years, but never understood the technical aspects like Andy has been laying them out on this pod.
Really fascinating to understand the skill dynamics of the game, not just ebbs and flows of matches which you pick up watching.
Learning so much. Love it Andy!
You have said that Carlos is respectful and happy. Totally agree and it is refreshing to see.
The best commentator of tennis the last few years! An incredible champion, also the biggest fan of the game ! Beautiful !
God dammit Andy. You are already one of the greatest tennis analysts I have ever heard. I always learn something from watching your reaction videos.
Carlos is already a legend of the game. Great player!
Andy is turning out to be multi talented... Dare I say, more talented as a commentator.... Great content. By the way, I was at his quarterfinal match the year he won the US Open. Cheering him on. USA USA USA
So love Andy’s analysis of any match and how he breaks things down and all in such an unbiased way. So pleased for Alcarazs’ triumph …, it was like a symphony in motion. Tennis is in very good hands moving forward into the next decade or two and we should all be very excited.
Great analysis by Roddick, especially the end. Top drawer. Honest.
yes Andy! serving!
Carlos Alcaraz won the match in the first game of the first set. He broke not only Djokovic's serve, but also his legs, and probably his spirit as well.
Andy, you may be the best tennis commentator I have ever seen. Your depth is amazing. Thanks
Roddick: Desde España, muchas gracias por tu excelente análisis .
Rodik, best analysis! You diagnosed nole better than his personal doctor! Keep up the valuable content!
Great explanation about how volley difficulty comes from set up.
The Women's final was definitely more exciting to me given how much Carlos dominated today.
Rafa has passed the mantle to Carlos. I love it! Such a lovely young man...great energy.
Brilliant stuff Andy. Always a pleasure to hear you after these big tournaments.
At this rate, Alcaraz will better Swiatek in numbers. He is 21, Swiatek is 23. Alcaraz has won slams in all 3 surfaces but Swiatek has won only in Clay and hard court, not in grass. But also Swiatek is improving , her serve got better nowadays. Once she starts winning in grass, there is no stopping her. She is the most consistent player in women’s, her winning percentage is more than 90% this season. Also Swiatek has less injury history than Alcaraz. That will also play a major role who will end up more slams. Right now, considering Alcaraz is 2 years younger than Swiatek he is staying ahead in the race. But things will change once Swiatek starts getting comfortable in grass and faster courts and winning. Let’s see.
incredible analysis as usual..always a pleasure to listen to sir andy.
Rafa was 19 years old when he won RG
Carlos was absolutely on fire. Best tennis I’ve seen him play .
Great analysis. 👍
I'm gonna be honest, I was almost ready to give up on tennis after Roger's retirement. We've been so spoiled these last 20 years, I never thought I'd experience that magic as a spectator again, or at least not for a long while. Alcaraz, and Sinner to an extent, are "filling that vacuum" as you said and giving the tennis world what it needs to keep interest and continue to grow the sport's popularity once Novak retires.
At least you give Novak props unlike most of Fed's cultists.
After Novak I'm not remotely interested......the new crop is like dry white toast. Hope a couple new great players come in
Old fashioned beat-down. Nole got spanked & Carlos played at an INSANEly high level! WOW! Third set was competitive! Again - WOW! Cheers, Milan😊 Thanx Andy!
Andy, you were my favourite for a long time after Goran and before Novak. You had an absolutely amazing playing career and if it wasn’t for some tough luck against one of the GOATs (especially in the ‘09 Wimbledon classic) your cabinet would’ve been a lot heavier. In fact, you mention here Roger’s brilliant strategy (and execution) against your all-time serve, which was an extremely rare breed in neutralizing those points. Having said all that, your analysis is second to none. I’ve watched a number of your videos breaking down matches and I’m now officially in - consider me subscribed🫡 thank you, good sir!
Andy is brilliant! 🎉
This was a great quick thoughts on the match. The slice forehand return, I did not clock that but now thinking about it, spot on. And the reps on the knee. Just great.
Amazing way to conclude such a good tournament. Thanks for the timely podcast.
Love your analysis of match and the breakdowns of the match. Andy need to to be in the booth calling match. Your the best
"I'm going to lock you down. You're gonna have to make decisions that are borderline irresponsible"... This is why I watch this show. Love every minute. Love the after match analysis
Great analysis, thanks Congratulations to Carlos! 🎉
Wow- example #235 that Carlos is built differently!
Match reminded me of the 2000 & 2001 US Open's. Sampras had great tournaments until he hit a wall in the Finals against Safin and Hewitt. Djokovic did incredible coming off the same knee injury that Federer had.
Back when they scheduled the semi and final on back to back days.
It's not the same, Sampras played Safin in the Semis and Hewitt in the final in 2000 on back to back days, and in 2001 he played Hewitt in the Semis and Safin in the finals on back to back days 😊
Not the same knee injury though
@leonardtay911 Well, if you have an injury, do as Sabalenka did, withdraw, and maybe people can take you at your word, 🤔, but you do not get to beat up on one side of the draw and then lose to the eventual champion, and then claim you have an injury 😉 . That spot in the draw could have been reserved for an uninjured player 🤔
Wow, I didn't know about back to back games in Grand Slams. That's vicious. And still 5 sets?
I really do think Carlos' serve is going to continuously improve in time especially as a spot server, i think he can do what djokovic did with his serve and if that coincides with his physical peak over the next few years, he'll be absolutely diabolical to face 😌
Can we talk about how different the RG & SW19 wins for Carlos was? RG taught him that he can win slams without his best tennis, relying significantly on his mental tenacity & grit; SW19 was much of the same up to the final where he demolished Djokovic. So special
Thumbs up for guitar analogy! Rock on Andy
Love watching your comments, Andy! So rich. Totally agree that it's amazing what Novak did this Wimbledon. Carlitos is delightful to watch. Looking forward to seeing his next achievements. ❤
Absolutely right about Carlos´ serve. Best I’ve ever seen from him.
The best match I’ve seen Alcaraz serve this tournament and no surprise it’s in the final
Best Post match analysis.of this final i have seen. Well done Andy
Andy: “Who ends up with more Grand Slam titles, Alcaraz or Swiatek?”
Me: “Yes.”
Some excellent points made here.
Carlos was awesome and really went it from the first game. I enjoy watching him play as he goes for winners. Love your commentary Andy too.
Vamos! Congrats Carlitos! Enjoy your commentary Andy you’re a legend
Great info ... And learning for people like me. Thanks for the analysis
This is why I think Served is the best tennis nerd podcast. This guy was in the trenches and he's a true student of the game on top of that. To give the inside-tennis breakdown and I think more importantly providing the context that only top players that have played top players have, is the most rewarding part of his podcast. Thanks Andy for doing this.
It reminded me of when Serena was also 37 and ran into Halep in that final. Serena looked flat and...old.
Always enjoy the no nonsense analysis and the inner knowledge of the .001 percent “intangibles” that can make a match turn on a dime..
It look from a layman like talent and speed - beats experience and Father Time (sometimes) 😮
Andy's tennis IQ is off the charts, as you would expect from a top player. Carlos is already a great champion of the game and first-ballot Hall of Famer. Just hoping he can stay healthy and not be undone by those horrible, confounding, or career-ending injuries.
Andy was spot on and Many Thanks.
Love your insights and perspectives... and from someone who's part of the the top 1% of the sport
Always liked Andy. As a player and commentator
Another great show. And to answer your question about who will have more slams... My gut tells me Carlos ☮️
Congratulations to Carlitos, an absolute gem of a tennis player and sportsman. What a pleasure to watch a young icon at the start of his journey toward the pantheon of the all-time greats. Novak wasn't 100% but I'm not sure it would've mattered. This was Carlos's day and Wimbledon, deservedly so.
GOAT of analysis, Andy.
Superb analysis Andy❤
Best tennis podcast out there. Long time Nadal fan but Novak has won me over after many years. Making the Wimbledon final just after knee surgery is just insane. And constantly withstanding stadiums full of hostile crowds. Amazing mental and physical toughness.
Great comments.
Thanks for the Video Andy
Gold every time i watch, Andy
Swiatek vs Alcaraz
I would say Swiatek has a solid 1.5 slams a year.
I would say Alcaraz has 1-3 slams a year.
The difference being both estimates is Alcaraz getting injured.
Also depending on the competition: Swiatek's main competition is surface, while Alcaraz's main competition is players
Pl commentate on major events andy, you are awesome. Keep it going.
you are a GOD in your analyses
Excellent ANALYSIS.. by Andy. There's a player out there on tour who could do with his considerable eye and experience..
Novak didn't face a good grass player the whole draw, and got battered as soon as he faced a good player, as predicted.
Not many good grass players out there, honestly. And guys like Bublik or Struff (good grass court players) are way off reaching latter stages of SW19. And, btw, guys like Sinner, Zverev or Meddy are not good grass court players. They’re just good enough to proceed despite playing on grass.
Exactly, false sense of Novak's chances in this match, because he handled very little competition before this final, he didn't have to really test out his knee like Carlos did to him. Hes a great champion and I've always been cautious to discount him because I knew he would prove me wrong, but with his age and the young and very good competition, this match felt like the end of his grand slam chances.
I’ve said it before. Djokovic’s decision to play Wimbledon under these circumstances is pure ego.
@@_PURAVIDAthe guy got to the finals of a slam. Why is that ego? Lol
If he was able to play and get "reps", as Andy calls it, on the highest level, on the same slam that he has the best chances of winning under normal circumstances, in order to prepare for the Olympics which is his biggest goal of the year, why wouldn't he? How is that ego?
@@_PURAVIDAhe's a tennis player. It is literally his job 😂
Great insight from Andy. You can clearly see he knows what he is talking about!

What a smooth transition from Big 3 to a new legend...no gap!!

Thanks Andy! I love listening to you. I am a long time fan.
What can you say about Carlitos just AWESOME❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💌💌💌God sent Carlos us tennis fans.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Carlos had so many chances in that third set to end it even sooner.
carlos is going to surpass novaks 24 record... the kid is too good. so complete, and still getting better. its scary
The kid is real good.
Let's hope he remains injury free. He has no competition right now. Even sinner is no longer a threat to him. Carlitos is just insanely good.
With the physical way Carlos plays, we have to see if he can win enough slams in his 30s while injury free. As Andy has said before he needs a little bit more of that defensive playing style of Djokovic if he wants to be more consistent and last longer. Aggressiveness will only go downhill past mid 20s. Carlos already missed AO and masters because of hip and wrist injury. You think he can go 10 years without any side effects?? I think 15-20 slams is more reasonable if he is healthy.
@@yoophillip i mean he has 4 and only 21. no one can challenge him right now except sinner. alcaraz is still a step ahead of sinner right now. with assumption alcaraz only wins 2 a year, he reaches 15 by age 26. still absolutely prime. no way his body will break down by then.
he also has a bit of luck on his side, that a player of his caliber rose to greatness at the very end of big 3 era. He's like rafa.. except without a peak federer standing his way. imagine how many grand slams rafa would have without federer? How many times did rafa lose to federer in his early years? Alcaraz doesnt have a federer to compete and catch up to. he only had to deal with a old novak
@@zhao11214 You don’t think another younger player will arise to compete with them? Federer being six years older than Djokovic thought too that he would keep dominating and look what happened he was forced to split the cheese with two others. It always happens 100% even to all the past legends. Within four or five years another dominant force will emerge.
Gracias ando por tu sinceridad desde España un saludo ❤
Andy’s analysis is top notch! In sport nowadays when someone loses or has a bad day they’re called a fraud, they’re shit, they’re useless. Most of the time it’s the sum of a lot of mini battles that didn’t go your way for one reason or another and you just have to hold your hands up!
