Pre-Prime Alcaraz? Winning grand slams is the highest level of the sport and Alcaraz won 2 this year. That's not Pre-prime, that's his prime. Perhaps you meant Pre-Peak, but you certainly don't win 2 grand slams in a single season and not be in your prime. Only time will tell whether there is a level above this for Alcaraz that can be considered his peak, or this season could even be it. But one thing for sure, Alcaraz is definitely in his prime, the only question is how long will it last and at what point, if he hasn't already, will he peak.

It was the greatest 2-sets I've seen in I don't know how long. I'm a diehard Alcaraz fan. They call me his step-dad at my club. I cried with him. My Facebook post was of Novak with one word: "Respect!" Carlos played close to his best tennis and Novak raised it one more half-gear! I was crushed but wowed! First time I felt GOAT. Not just because of the numbers but the heart it took to beat Carlitos playing this well!

Of course on Friday Alcaraz also said to Corretja - ""I am going to give Spain what it wants, the gold" "Get ready... for the show that I am going to give you" mmm - not the smartest one that he has come out with.

@@KashudoVoiceStudios That's what makes him great. He has all the tools to solve any situation at any time. He doesn't always play this locked-in, because he usually doesn't need to. But he knew he needed it this time, so he never gave Alcaraz a chance to get ahead. That's why he has nearly won the Calendar Slam like 4 times (he did held them 4 Slams at the same time, the "Nole Slam") and he has won every single title in tennis, a feat nobody is close to achieve in the future.

Fed has always been my favourite player and I was rooting for Alcaraz but I couldn't help being wowed by Novak on Sunday. The serving, the accuracy of his shots, the complete vulnerability afterwards. Also the small matter that he's now completed tennis. Every Slam. Every Masters. World Tour Finals. Olympic Gold. No-one has ever done this.

Novak couldn't move much at Wimbeldon. I mean compare him to years past when he was flying and sliding in grass all over the place. There was none of that this year, understandingly so. He leaned on his experience to make the final, the draw helped too. But Novak needs his movement to be his best form, and he moved much better at Olympics, minus the knee tweek vs Tsitsipas.

THERE is no way I will buy this. Not one title this whole year (keep your 'he wasn't fit...' in your brainless box), his last attempt at Olympic gold, on his least favorite surface, and he wins it, against a player who's been on a roll winning majors and made this final? As I have been saying all along, since at least 2022, unless the ITF, ATP and Others look deep into any and all possible Briberies of all top 200 players, their bank accounts, cell and computers use (including Public), landline phones if possible, this novaq is not legitimate (in that period). When some players lose to him who should have likely not lost to him, it is a mental game against the others playing novaq. There IS a serious Serbian mafia, too, and filthy rich white gamblers want their white knight to win more and more. Racists call this "wake up, you are dreaming" and "go see your doctor" yet, EVIDENCE is everywhere the cheating for teams and athletes happens in EVERY sport, and novaq's fans think (I doubt they actually know how to) tennis is clean. Okay then.

Andy Roddick is a great authentic dude, I respect how he finds right and emotional words describing the men's final. I get goosebumps even when I start thinking about the match I also get an uneasy feeling watching a replay although I know that he won, it was that close. What a day it was to be alive and witness this greatness. Also let me add that the severity of this task was apparent during his semi-final against Musetti, rarely had I seen Nole this angry at some shots that didn't go perfect although he was pretty much winning. And It's not like the match was only this important for Novak, in hindsight Alcaraz broke out in tears trying go give an interview he also just won the French Open on the same court. To win this gold and also on this venue in Paris beating Nadal along the way this is a myth and a fairy tale. Idemo
As the totality of his career, it's nothing short of a miracle because he broke all those records competing with two other greatest tennis players of all time one of them being one of the most dominant and untouchable athletes of all time meaning Nadal on clay who by virtue of being this dominant on this surface deprived both Fed and Djoko of a lot of French Opens. And Djokovic worked his way to this greatness, he came to realize that this is what he had to become in order to be the best in this era and he did it. In terms of winning this gold and being the man on a mission, I can only think of Bobby Fischer becoming world champion and Kasparov not succumbing to Karpov who was leading 0:5, immense willpower.

For decades Jordan was my undisputed Greatest Athlete Of All Time. Djokovic has taken that spot for me (years ago tbh), but it seems there is always another level. 4-all in that 1st. He made EVERY first serve on every break point he faced the ENTIRE match. Let that sink in. He’s 37 and knew full well that lockdown mode wasn’t going to be enough to get it done. So he went HUGE with margin when he got the chance (the way he snatched the matches from Fed in his younger days). Oh by the way he did this against the hottest player on the planet right now that just won the last two majors and steamrolled Nole a few weeks ago at the Wimbledon final. I became a big fan when you became an analyst, Andy! I am also a huge Djokovic fan but I am always trying to be objective. And completely objectively: if he was British or American - he would've been the most famous, most loved athlete in the history of sports probably. It's an interesting thought, I am not hurt of obsessed with it - it is what it is... Maybe he wouldn't have been this great if he didn't get as much of a pushback from Western media... Most of the news from UK are about crowd booing him and him acting "disrespectful". Hell, even in Lacoste shops in Barcelona you can't find his merch during the week when he became Olympic champion... I bet this will be a huge topic years after he retires and all the noise dies down.

Exactly - they cannot market Novak like they can with a copy paste sports personality e.g Jordan, T Woods, Federer, Nadal etc. And it's not only that they can't ( they probably tried but Novak is not a sell out ) it's that Novak doesn't want it either.

Andy's comments on the "great man's" supreme Olympics moment were a beautiful thing to listen to: I hung on his every word and came away from the beauty of his words thinking that he had transcended something somehow, that he had been, ah, maybe "hymnal"? It's one thing for the rest of us ordinary sorts to be in awe of Novak, but for Andy, great in his own right at once routinely walking on to an elite tennis court and actually dealing with all of what that experience entails, well, I was moved while listening to him, even welling up a little bit, as I think even Novak himself might have been moved by listening to the words of a true comrade in battle. I've loved Djoko for a long time, but I can't remember ever hearing of him being spoken of with more true substance and respect.

I have been a tennis since I was a child and went to Forest Hills since my Dad was in the tennis business. As you might have guessed I am now a senior citizen and true to my demographic, I don’t subscribe to any streaming services, although my building provides free cable service.
Still, it was a bitter pill to not be able to see this epic Olympic final. What is the explanation for why NBC Sports would not let The Tennis Channel broadcast this match? I know my brain cells might be compromised but what am I missing here?
Just hearing and reading about this match was still a thrill. Love Novak and always did. Rajeev Ram is a very exciting player to watch play. I was impressed seeing him play singles at the last UCLA tennis tournament too.

Go to her matches and you'll hear her disrespecting the crew working the match. She disrespects opponents and the game. For her to attack Swiatek as 'fake' and insincere is absurd. Swiatek is all class, Collins is just crass.

I'm of the belief that if Andy and Fed had not mocked and belittled Novak's injuries when he burst on the scene (he was 17 or 18 at the time), the media or general consensus wouldn't be so against him. He wasn't or isn't one to keep quiet and gives it back but imo seniors of the time, Andy and Fed should've been better. We could've seen a very different treatment of Novak from all.

I started following tennis thanks to Agassi, I continued thanks to Roddick and I kept going thanks to Novak. Never regretted chosing them!
