It looks like they edited in still images of them because they left the set and someone realised a continuity error, but didn't know how to add moving images. But then the moving hands confused it. Maybe Chris' top half is fake green screen but his bottom half is real.

If you work only in post-production, you'll look for post-production issues. This is more likely an on-set production situation, where Pussy and Chris were told (by the director, or, the continuity supervisor) to stay as still as possible to better match with other shots and present fewer potential continuity problems for the editing staff. My two cents, obviously I could be way off.
Im thinking they reversed the footage in the fight scene because James probably couldnt bounce back up quickly. Not just because of his size (that too), but because of all the furniture and stuff around him, he'd be tangled up and stumbling on all that crap. It keeps the disbelief suspended just enough so that the concept of Tony as spry, lethal, and quick remains intact. I definitely never noticed! Keeping the reversed audio was an odd choice though! Awesome video!
"Back in my day" there was primitive editing software that had animated transitions that you could use when editing tape to tape. It was called Video Toaster. Our favorite transition was the silhouette of an obviously naked lady pulling down a window shade. Not ever really appropriate in film school but we had a lot of laughs.
Great job collecting these. I have a couple more for you: 1) When Tony is putting Janish on the Greyhound at the end of ep 2.12, the same man in blue walks by them, twice, a clear continuity error. 2) In episode 3.5 when Junior is trashing his living room out of anger at Bobby Sr's death, there is a few milliseconds of him with his glasses off. So random! Also a cool callback = when an exhausted Vito falls asleep in the Bed n Breakfast, he only gets one shoe off, making him literally a "one-shoe c**ksucka"
I think Christopher and Pussy where told by the director to be as still as possible as to not make the shot to busy. With all the movement happening, tony walking away, and the very expressive movments on richy and co. in the foreground. Chris and Puss being in the center of the shot, and paulie not. Thats what makes the most sense to me.
I usually don't catch continuity errors and editing mistakes, but one stood out to me. I don't particularly know what episode it was in, but one time, the family was having dinner, and Tony's champagne glass changes volume multiple times in the span of about 10-15 seconds
Since I'm here, I'll note another small detail. Again in Season 6, episode: "The Blue Comet", after Silvio strangles Burt Gervasi in the beginning, he reports back to Tony to let him know. During their conversation, there are no indications or bruises that point to something happening to Silvio, but after Sil mentions that "measures were taken" Tony looks and a bandaid magically appears on his hand, I think its his right one. Not sure if this is an edit. But season one when Livia is moved to the nursery home. Tony is sad cleaning putting away old pictures before having another panic attack. You see this aged framed picture of a younger livia clearly cropped in with another completely different picture of a young tony. Yet they try pass it off as if they're together in that picture. When they aren't.
Love the channel! During a cemetery scene (I believe it was Livia's) at the very end when they say amen, there is a quick shot of someone in a white shirt jumping over something while the cast is focused on the priest.
Love your video! What about at the season 3 finale when Uncle Jr is singing it at the wake the song switches languages multiple times. very weird maybe you can cover that
There is this really strange edit were Tony gets to goto the doctor and said that he was unhappy that Jonny cancelled a meeting on the day of the sun god and was not bad for a wad made of the sun god but he was a little bit tired and the only thing that could have been.
The scene that trips me out too is I believe when Jimmy the rat dies, he’s shot in the head and the blood spatter doesn’t match the blood on the table after he falls. A piece of “brain” kind of bounces off the lamp, but not a lot of blood, then when the camera pans back over there’s a lot of blood by the lamp.
The Tony-getting-up-in-reverse shot was likely just to show him getting up and that’s the best they had. Definitely should’ve kept the audio not-reversed though I would’ve likely added another fast cut away or two to give the idea that he got up in the interim
Tony was injured when they originally shot the fight scene so they actually had to reshoot part of it months later and rebuild a set. I wonder if that injury for some reason made it hard for him to get up fast so they did it that way
For the beansie getting ran over scene some people register situations differently some people react and move and some people are scared and freeze and can’t move
I commented on the last video about this, there’s some really bad sounding stock fart sound effects. I put some links in the other comment to what I was stalking about.
There's quite a lot of terrible stock sound effects. The other one I hate is when Doc is shot outside the restaurant, and there's three women screaming, which is okay. But then the camera zooms to Doc's body, and they play that extremely overused woman screaming sound effect that's in everything. It's weird because they already had the three women screaming. Then it goes quiet, then that generic scream plays.
Tony punch in reverse is to show him getting up from ground and on the new cut of that moment it doesn’t still work because then how is he coming from The right of the screen? Prefer the reverse but with your feedback to fix the audio
I didn’t like how in Army of One (the Season 3 finale), as Junior sings, the audio cuts out and a bunch of random songs fade in and out of one another. I’m certain that David Chase had some “intent” but it’s very distracting. What can I say? I love Junior’s voice.
One that always bothered me was S01E13 when Jimmy Altieri gets wacked. When he hears Sil's voice he says "Mother Of God" and then Chrissy and Sil have some lines and then it cuts back to Jimmy saying "God" but its just the end of the exact same line as before . I always took me out of the scene.
Not exactly in editing issue but one thing I never understood is why do matt bevilogua and his colleague successfully shoot Christopher while they're in the car.... And then decide to get out of the car and run away rather than just drive away? Like even if they have to ditch the car, wouldn't it make more sense to get away from Christopher first so they're not still within the firing range. It's not an editing mistake but doesn't make any sense when you think about it
I feel the football game Tony loses his bet on i is real poor quality for the budget of the show. Obviously they couldn't get or didn't wanna pay for an NFL or NCAA game footage but it's just poorly done with the crowd doing a wave at the end. Just screams low budget to me similar to the horse race footage.

Actually, now that I look at it again, both Chris and Puss' hands are moving. Chris' gaping open mouth makes it look so funny.

There was also a bad slow mo when Sil walks out the back, and Jimmy reaches for his gun. Not the worst, but I hate those type of low shutter slow mo.
