I think Tony slow mo entering his garden is symbolism linked to the bear at the start of the season rather than just odd editing. PureKino mentioned this in his recap of the episode. The disorientating slow mo makes the audience ask “is that Tony or the bear” which begs the question at the heart of this symbolism “what’s worse for the sopranos Tony or the bear?”
Yeah absolutely. I'm surprised people didn't quite get that. Maybe if you're binge watching the symmetry of it all doesn't work as well. But when you were watching the show in real time, the book ending with the bear was very obvious

Tony coming out of the bushes is a mislead that mirrors the bear in episode 1 of season 5. We're supposed to assume it's the bear, but SURPRISE... it's Tony.
I think the weird slowdown was supposed to be a thematic reminder for the bear returning. It sort of looks and sounds like a lumbering bear. One weird error I noticed was in 1x06, when Hesh and Junior are negotiating in front of Satriales. Juniors glass of water keeps switching between in his hand, on the table, lifting it to drink, taking a sip, or on the table while he's holding it. A green bottle sometimes switches between to the left of his hand and to the right. The cup also doesn't seem to be emptying, but I guess Junior is just so stingy he doesn't even drink water too quickly. Now that I've watched that scene again, it also looks like something weird is going on with the the extra's where same set of kids and an old lady leaving the shop twice, but it's hard to tell if they're the same people. 11:23 I speculate that the reason the horse race footage is of lower quality is because they either used the cameras they'd use for the filming of the tv version. or that they just used footage from a real horse race, which would have obviously been shot on tv cameras not film cameras. and at the time when it broadcast on tv it probably wouldnt have looked much different.
I noticed in Commendatori it shows a shot of Christopher leaving the airport before he actually does. It happens again when Phil is talking to Johnny sack in jail and Ginny shows up a frame before she is supposed to.

Great video! The Soprano's can be such an intense show that continuity/editing errors can be difficult to spot. I just have one scene that's never sat right with me. In the same episode as the changing coffee pot, Richie comes back to run over Beansie. Richie's car is so far away when he hits the lights that Beansie had plenty of time to get out of the way. Instead, Beansie just raises his arms and says "Nooooo!!!" Could better editing have been used to make that scene look more natural?
Your memory is exaggerated. Yeah maybe he could've had time but he was already scared and jumpy, he would've had to super quicky unlock the car, open it, and get in, all while Richie is already in a car driving straight towards him lol
In the spirit of "Things on screen that shouldn't have been there" - in S2E12 "Knight in White Satin Armor" when Janice shoots Ritchie, you can see a hand on Ritchie's chair from someone underneath the table pushing/holding him in place so that he can fall more dramatically
Maybe that slowdown effect with the bush was supposed to be creepy or something initially when it’s slowed down juxtaposed with the happy music after but honestly yeah that’s an odd choice
Just had this thought - maybe the weird close shot of bushes and slowmo and twigs snapping is supposed to make us think it’s the bear when it’s in fact Tony, because the bear is supposed to represent Tony or something like that
I thought the weird slow motion bear thing was just to point out that Tony was the bear. Tony was supposed to represent the bear that showed up in the woods in the first episode
Here’s one I just noticed: in the season 1 episode “A Hit is a Hit” when Tony is talking to Dr. Cusamano near the end, Cusamano is wearing an undershirt in one cut, yet in the next he isn’t, it’s very obvious and jarring when you notice it.

During the sit down outside Satriales in 46 Long there are a ton of continuity errors with the background characters. Its most noticeable when the kid with the basketball is seen in the background
One that really bothered me was the first scene with Agent Harris at Satriale's. Multiple discontinuities in crossing arms and facial expressions. I think this is pretty common with scenes that have many characters actually
There's s strange edit no one notices... In the episode when Johnny Sack beat up a Aprile associate for the joke about Jinnie, Tony goes to confront John, and as John is sitting down he says "No looting at the job site" but it sounds like a voice over.
It's called ADR amd it's done ALL THE TIME in the show, especially during season 1. Some actor misspoke or their audio wasn't clear and they can't reshoot so they opt for a studio voiceover. You can hear this in season 1 when Livia says "he's become so full of himself ever since becoming *caporegime*" or when Tony says "*Two fat fucks with black hair*". The most egregious example I can think of is the episode in early S6 when Tony finds out Vito is gay. Tony walks down the stairs in the house into the kitchen while singing "sitting on a park bench" while his lips aren't moving at all. The parts of Tony's speech made to his capos in s4e1 that Raymond recorded and are played back by the FBI are also ADR in THE VERY SCENE THEY'RE RECORDED lol.
The race footage is stock footage not shot on film and done on SD 480i video. When up converted to 1080p, it looks like this. There’s an established shot of a plane they use I think when Furio leaves or comes back from to visit his sick father that is similar.
What you did was great cuz I always find stupid things like this in The sopranos especially when Tony's talking in the beginning narrating the show and then he bumps in the sil in front of the store
Dont know if you reviewed the part where Janice kills Richie Aprile, when RIchie is falling back in his chair there is a hand coming from under the table pushing/holding the chair as he falls back.
another bizarre edit I noticed, in the season 3 episode "to save us all from satan's power" there's a really bizarre scene transition, it looks like one of the stock scene transitions from windows movie maker or something.
@@couchbumkino5423 Another inconsistency I just noticed, that I haven't seen anyone talk about: In the episode "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano" (s1 finale) when Tony listens to the FBI tapes, we hear various conversations between Livia and Junior. Two oddities: 1. Livia saying "Better Kiki had died than go on living like that" takes place outside (this is from the episode Isabella) 2. Junior saying "I'm the boss for Christ's sake... blood or no-" uses a different take (this is from the episode Nobody Knows Anything)
Another one is when Christopher wrecks his Escalade in the accident in season 6 he is driving an 07 body Escalade however the car flips it’s the old body style Escalade
The horse racing footage is probably broadcast footage of a horserace and since it was a time when of standard def, it wouldn't have stood out on original airing.
The one about character eye sight is feels crazy that you’re showing it, saying to focus on the line of sight but then you somehow totally miss it. Look at the wife looking at the girl as if she were right there next to them. The door would have been off to the left of the screen from where the wife is. Nothing wrong with cut to him carrying her.
My favorite strange edit is the pizza box scene where the cops bring it in after Baby Bing and his friends got drunk at the school and trashed the place. It's not even that strange, but it's so differently shot than the entire rest of the show.
In that Columbian heist that Paulie pulls off you can see him go to block the guys knife that snuck up behind him without really knowing that he's got a knife!
The horse race footage just looks like stock footage of a horse race which was recorded on video, not film. It's probably taken directly from a tv broadcast (with permission) and maybe they had to crop out the network logos or something.
For the Patsy and Gloria one, they probably didn´t want to strap cameras to the expensive car. So, tight angles for the moving cheapo and cameras outside for the other one
Something i always found odd is when in episode 6x04 (fleshy part of the thigh) Paulie and Patsy approach Jason Barone, in first shot paulie already put his hands in his iconic pose (Infront of him) but in second shit he's just placing them together
I believe the shot of Tony coming through the brush in the backyard was supposed to make you think the bear was coming back into their yard. I think that is why it is in slow motion. Perhaps a bit of a metaphor.
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this but when Mikey Palmice kills Donnie Paduana, in the scene where him and Junior look at Donnie's body while they are in the car, Mikey's window is magically closed while at the previous scene less than three seconds ago it's open.
So the Tony in slow motion in the bush after running from the FbI is suppose to link Tony to the bear from “Two Tonys”. For a moment we are thinking “Oh is the bear back”? And no it’s Tony. Those two were always links and there some symbolism there that I won’t get into here. If you look closely Tony’s head is down so all you see is the black shape.
@@couchbumkino5423 I don't know if you've been any similar situations but I remember times where you here that a meeting has already started and you think to yourself, I'd rather miss it completely than walk in a busy room and have everyone stair at me and look like a right muppet.

All the fart edits during Tony's food poisoning is both funny and weird. It don't sound natural since so many of them are stock fart sounds (including the famous fart reverb sound) and they don't seem to fit the tone of the scene.

meant to mention that, but I guess I had a bit of a brainfart. my apologies
@@DrButteFatman no worries! Thanks friend.
@@couchbumkino5423 Another inconsistency I just noticed, that I haven't seen anyone talk about:
In the episode "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano" (s1 finale) when Tony listens to the FBI tapes, we hear various conversations between Livia and Junior. Two oddities:
1. Livia saying "Better Kiki had died than go on living like that" takes place outside (this is from the episode Isabella)
They probably printed the garbage and glued to the lens, maaaaaybe.
Thanks for the suggestion
In that Columbian heist that Paulie pulls off you can see him go to block the guys knife that snuck up behind him without really knowing that he's got a knife!
The horse race footage just looks like stock footage of a horse race which was recorded on video, not film. It's probably taken directly from a tv broadcast (with permission) and maybe they had to crop out the network logos or something.
The Gloria scene: it begins in an E class and ends in the S Class, like in the exterior shots.
For the Patsy and Gloria one, they probably didn´t want to strap cameras to the expensive car. So, tight angles for the moving cheapo and cameras outside for the other one
The moving shot is an E Class, still is an S-Class
Oh boy the algorithm brought me more sopranos content
A man of culture I see
Something i always found odd is when in episode 6x04 (fleshy part of the thigh) Paulie and Patsy approach Jason Barone, in first shot paulie already put his hands in his iconic pose (Infront of him) but in second shit he's just placing them together
In the garbage mound the apple looks like it squidges to a half of its size then goes back to normal
I believe the shot of Tony coming through the brush in the backyard was supposed to make you think the bear was coming back into their yard. I think that is why it is in slow motion. Perhaps a bit of a metaphor.
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this but when Mikey Palmice kills Donnie Paduana, in the scene where him and Junior look at Donnie's body while they are in the car, Mikey's window is magically closed while at the previous scene less than three seconds ago it's open.
when tony comes out from the bushes he’s supposed to look like a bear right? i heard that somewhere
Also Vito's narration while working as a contractor on the run.
Is this supposed to be some kind of magic xylophone?
one part of weird editing that bothered me was that cat at satrialis
So the Tony in slow motion in the bush after running from the FbI is suppose to link Tony to the bear from “Two Tonys”. For a moment we are thinking “Oh is the bear back”? And no it’s Tony. Those two were always links and there some symbolism there that I won’t get into here. If you look closely Tony’s head is down so all you see is the black shape.
I aint sure if my youtube is glitching out, but you seem like you should have way more than 269 subs
Appreciate that, friend.
Here’s some standard operating procedure
The scene at Livia's wake was done on purpose.
What do you think it was? Who was they guy? What’s it mean?
@@couchbumkino5423 I don't know if you've been any similar situations but I remember times where you here that a meeting has already started and you think to yourself, I'd rather miss it completely than walk in a busy room and have everyone stair at me and look like a right muppet.
@@Buzza235 I gotcha. Still wondering was the guy one of the guests or one of the catering help?
@@couchbumkino5423 Think he was one of the guests who got caught short.
How about the episode ( cold cuts ) when tony b is in the car the with tony and they’re waiting for Chrissy to come out after looking for wedding cake with Adriana, and tony honking for him, when Chrissy gets in the car the seat head rest are gone on both front seats, it is super noticeable
When janice shoots Richie u can see a hand pushing the chair
All the fart edits during Tony's food poisoning is both funny and weird.
It don't sound natural since so many of them are stock fart sounds (including the famous fart reverb sound) and they don't seem to fit the tone of the scene.
I plan to cover all the sopranos farts more in-depth
Not a weird edit but a really wrong change: of Tony's other sister caracter.
Random Greatnezz
No one brought up the hand from under the table holding the chair Ritchie is sitting in when Janice shoots him and he falls back??
**Edit** I just realized this is a part two so probably in the first one.
Unpopular opinion. Pine barrens has always been my least favorite episode. I usually skip it eight along with the dream episodes
Continuity errors are not edits.
Perhaps you are correct… but they are edited together probably from multiple takes
I would argue continuity errors are not the editor's sole responsibility, but, the editor is the last line of defense in a continuity error.

did.you.confuse.your.space.bar.with.your.period.key?
This is unwatchable. You are to scared to even show the coffee pot break on Beanies head. Good luck on building a channel 😂
People that get mad about supposedly nitpicking are the obnoxious fanboys of the show
Totally reasonable to both hold something in high regard and acknowledge its flaws
