Beware, I have the Explorer Sport in white. You will be dealing with slow ass drivers in front of you thinking you’re a cop. At night time people who pass me slam on their brakes. It’s funny to watch.

The 3.5L V6 is a twin turbo and you can stow each seat in the third row individually if you wanted to. I’m clearing it up for some people that care.
I have a 2013 Ford Explorer with over 460,000 miles on it. I purchased it as a family hauler with about 60,000 miles on it. I unintentionally had to use it as a courier vehicle for 97% of those miles. I haven't changed any major parts or had any major parts failures!?!?! I must have one of the best built fords on the planet!

nice SUV we used to have a 2014 sport ruby red and now my wife has the 2016 black sport same like this in the video !!!You can feel the turbo lag sometimes but you can easy fix it with a tune from Livernois Motosport !!!

I drive the 2017 Explorer xlt 4wd, and it also comes with the sport package, it has the paddles too. Doesn't have the turbos, doesn't need them. I have yet to try the 0 to 60, but what I've enjoyed so far is just fine.
I does need them, 60 is in the high 7 second range and doesn't have the towing capacity or the modding potential

I'm sure your mother is proud of you guys doing this with her car, sure she had no idea. I have the XLT 4x4 myself and it too has power, but mine doesn't have the turbo's. I bought my SUV to get around and making it easier to get in and out. We old people need help like that now and then. But we old people don't really care how fast it'll go from 0 to 60, as long as it will perform on the freeways. We all love the cruise control, because we also know it is what drives the rest of you bonkers. Plus the A/C system, you have the front and the rear, the rear alone is enough for the whole car, and it will freeze you out. Yes, you will be adjusting the temp. after a few minutes using the rear A/C.
I think you forgot a tiny significant detail: Gas mileage. 16/22 and tiny gas tank which is only 18.6 gallons.
Yes the thing runs out of gas very quickly even if you try to drive more relaxed to save gas

Ford got the fastest standard cars because of those beautiful eco boost engines they create smart move Ford. The lowest level Ford Fusion with eco boost will beat a 3 series BMW i thats how fast they are Mazda 6 or Honda accord sport cant even touch it

Haven’t lost a race yet. However I have raced anything beefier then the charger with the 5.7 I think it is. Got it in oxford white cuz I hate the metallic paint

Many people not aware that Ford explorer water pump replacement cost is $1500.00, because you have to remove engine and remove timing chain cover. Go Ford, smart engineering. This cost doesn't include timing chain replacement and Cam phases, because they wear out at the same time as water pump since coolant leaks inside the engine from water pump. Start feeding your piggy bank and have close a gas mask because the monoxide in the cabin
Too bad a gas mask doesnt help with carbon monoxide since carbon monoxide just displaces oxygen in the air rendering a gas mask useless

I love the look of the explorer minus those fog lights. Things are an eyesore, plus I bet it would cost as much as a headlight to replace them if they ever got cracked/broken from rocks on the highway or whatever.

Nice video. My uncle had his 2016 Sport tuned it makes 460 horsepower and 450 lb of torque his best 0-60 time is 4.8 but average is 5 Seconds. it is a great SUV

Yep. A tune box, 3 bar map sensor and new thermostat from livernois motorsports and mine is now a little rocket. No issues at all so far. Love it.
Why were you comparing the explorer, a mid size suv to full size SUV like the Durango and Tahoe?

With all of those crazy ass motorized 3rd row seat controls... is there a manual override way to do all of that for when (NOT if, _*when*_) it breaks? I don't suppose you could have somebody pull the associated fuse when the seats are halfway folded to see if you can unfold/finish folding them... or if they're just stuck in limbo?
Im not a fan of the electronic folding seats either. Its cool feature. I don't suspect they would break or stop working for a while. I mean I have had cars in the past that are 75,000 miles and more than 10 years old and electronics had zero issues.
Sure, but there are a TON of people that only buy the lower end of the used car market... y'know point a to b type cars under $4000-5000 with high miles that something superfluous like that could really screw over. Personally speaking, I'm a Ford guy. I've owned 10 or 11 Fords in the last 20 years for varying amounts of time, but most of them were old and higher mileage cars I picked up on the cheap. If there is one thing that I have had to deal with more than anything else _its the electrical systems_ - not just electronics, but shoddy wiring, failing relays, electric motors.... that kind of shit ALWAYS craps out on the Fords I've owned. I'm all for the integration of technology into vehicles and I see Ford as one of the leaders in that area on their newest cars and trucks... but I can't help but be irked by how integrated everything is and meshing that with my experiences with their older products gives me reason to pause.
Case-in-point: I currently drive a 2009 Crown Victoria that I bought 4 years ago with 135k miles on it in 95% flawless condition mechanically and cosmetically. I've had to re-run burned up wiring to my windshield wiper controller, my OBD-II data link port, and now I have to remove my instrument cluster and resolder connections on the PCB that have broken resulting in my entire instrument cluster turning on and off randomly as I drive down the road. Why? Because Ford did a shitty job of soldering on almost all of the clusters installed in 05+ Crown Vics, Town Cars, Grand Marquis, and even some models of Mustang and F-150 have the _exact same problem._

The Durango R/T 0-60 times are the same as the the Explorer sport. You quote numbers for the 6 cylinder gt model.
Yes times vary with conditions. My Durango went 6.6 stock and 5.9 modded. 6.7-6.9 is what the 2017 R/T did in my review.

You need to mention the explorer is unibody, as oppose to the body on frame SUVs. Drastically effects the towing which is why the sport had the same towing limitations as the n/a 3.5 XLT.

Believe me, I love the Explorer (I have a 14 XLT) but repeated issues on my 55k mile vehicle coupled with the fact that literally EVERY stay at home Mom in my neighborhood that I see dropping off junior at school has an Explorer Sport has me leaning towards Durango R/T for my explorer replacement.

Dodge should of boosted up their line up knowing the weight problem with the vehicles, they should boost up the 5.7 to 450 HP and the 392 to 560 HP fords new Turbo 6's coupled with the 10 speed on a v6 mustang can apparently do 0-60 in under 5.0 seconds whilst the R/T chAllenger and charger does it in 5.1-5.5

Mr. T still they have to keep. Much weight. They have to drop 3-500 pounds to compete. When I had my Taurus sho I raced a modded rt, I only had a tune he had headers exhausted tune and better tires and couldn't keep up from a dig and lost by about 6-7 car lengths from 50-120. The Taurus was the same weight as that car with awd!!! I was mind blown, how can they be that heavy!
It’s not that easy. They would lose mpg and need to meet durability standards as well. Easier said than done, otherwise they would do it.

Its an easy fix with a tune. I have a 2015 Expedition, which shares the same 3.5L TT. Its 'rated' at 370HP and 420ft/lbs stock. With a 5 Star tune it made 460 HP and 551 ft/lbs to the wheels (on 93 oct fuel).

Corey - curious.. has your mom/bro ever complained of not feeling well? Was looking into a 2017/2018 sport until I found all the complaints about carbon monoxide poisoning, police are dropping the explorer from their fleets after officers getting sick, and now ford has some sort of voluntary fix program..
Not that I know of. Good that you brought it up, I am going to have them check their explorer at the dealer.
There’s that and then the back suspension had a recall because it broke, causing people to crash. Also have been seeing mechanics on TH-cam saying they have cooling system issues due to cheaply made parts. Also problems with the eco boost i4 and v6.
On the subject of the police ...the Fords Explorer and Taurus were the ones to be "pursuit" rated. Meaning they can take a hit, jump curbs etc ...the FCA two pos can't.

Im a Ford guy but.. Ford isnt aggressive enough in general. Need an Explorer svt... Need a Taurus Rs to TRY to compete with SRT Charger... Mustang👌 based on a great formula but missing the masculinity of Camaro unless you get a special model. Fusion sport makes BIG power in class but still manages to be relatively soft performing compared to less powerful actual SPORT sedans.. Continental... missed opportunity.... 2002 or 3 autoshow.. rear wheel drive v12 super Lincoln l.s. now it's just a really nice Taurus. They have the ability but count every penny. Ford doesn't attemp to play in the big boy arena across the board. NO CTS V.. NO ATS competitor....etc. Fine company though.

It only takes $600 custom tune to run same time as SRT durango (13.3).
Exhaust, downpipes and custom tune on explorer will get you high 12s (12.8s).
After that, can can go further by upgrading stock turbo housings with more efficient wheels to be able to hold more power at higher rpms....mid 12s in 1/4.
I would advise you to watch Durango RT verse EcoBoost Explorer drag race, I understand you are promoting your mom's car but win or lose that EcoBoost don't sound like a Hemi! as a matter of fact you almost come off like a Hemi hater!
I dont need to watch it. I have owned a 2015 R/T Durango, Currently own a 2018 SRT Durango, Hellcat, and Owned a 2015 Jeep GC. I am not a mopar hater. The fact is my R/T Durango bone stock did 6.5 0-60 consecutively. The explorer did 6 flat. Those are true numbers.
That race is faulty because they were running Eplorer Platinum with 87 octane.
Official time for EcoBoost platinum is 6.2s while for Sport is 5.7s on 93 octane.
Also the suspension of the sport makes it alot stiffer than the platinum which yields faster times

You say 60 at like 55mph
it was at 58 and it takes time for that message to relay to him. If I say it at 60 then there is a delay and it would be innacurate. There are other guys on youtube running 6.2 all day long in heat. So with 60 degrees outside 6.00 is easily achievable.

I actually feel like the 2013-15 looks a lot better than the 2016. You can tell the difference in a previous gen sport, vs the 16 and above.. except the ST.. The 16 honestly, is ugly. It looks like a plan jane average run of the mill SUV. Nothing special at all.
