    Great to see you had a review of one of these 2017s. Had the good fortune of picking up one last month. Just 16K miles on an XLT V6 Ruby Red. Like new. Shipped it from MI. Can't wait to get home to FLA to enjoy it.

    Thanks for the review! I just purchased a Sport model as well and have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed the performance and feel. Going from a car to this was a step up in weight, and naturally it feels larger. Not unexpected. The one KNOCK I have on this vehicle is the brake pedal 'arm'... it's positioned too far forward and whenever i naturally move my foot over to apply the brakes, my foot hits that arm. I have to consciously attempt to avoid it by moving my foot 'down' slightly, It's not terrible but it's an obvious design oversight. I haven't been able to find a way to adjust that in particular. Other than that... just loving the Ford!

      Sunnyyy the way you can tell whether it’s a cop is if the mufflers point downwards in the back. Another way is if there aren’t any LED running lights.

    Great review. I just bought one and received it 3 days ago. Still learning about my new car. But one thing you got totally wrong in your review was seat management. It's basically all one step -- but it's conditional. Pulling the lever *or* the rear strap have the same function -- so people getting in can use the lever and people in the 3rd row can pull the strap to do the same thing. In addition, depending on the driving position, it is not necessary to fold the head rest before raising the seat. I'm also 6'2" and it's on the border of needing to be folded, I am doing it without. So basically for me, it's a one-step operation, not 3! For someone taller than me, you would need to fold the headrest first, making it two-step.
    The biggest negatives about this car for those considering:
    1. Roof rack if you have the sunroof has a recommended carry limit of only 45lbs, which limits you to a basic open ski rack. It seems to be more of a center of gravity issue than anything else. Without the heavy sunroof, that limit increases to 100lbs. Overall, it's annoyingly low.
    2. 3rd row power seats are a cool feature, and demonstrates super well in test drives, but once life kicks in and you put *anything* in the car, it quickly becomes a pain to switch modes because you have to clear absolutely everything out to make the transition. The positive side to this tradeoff is you get more overall cargo capacity.

    On a long on ramp where I live, I usually get stuck behind people who's cars are kinda slow climbing the long grade. One of these was infront of me one day and as the ramp split into two lanes, I opened up my lb7 duramax, only sitting at 500hp, but usually pass everyone on this ramp. That explorer left me. I was and am impressed. Starting to look at matve getting one?

      then trade it in 2 years later when it falls apart....but seriously, they look pretty similar. The fords IMO have cooler accents and styling. The Durango almost looks a little 'waggony'. The sport class Explorers have a touch of Range Rover to them (especially the white ones), and atleast in MN, I cant look at the black ones without thinking its a police car. The Durango comes with a V8, not sure how that compares directly to the v6 eco boost. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

      I'm looking for another car, as Ford made me this offer.
      Question is simple: what's the real gas mileage on the Mustang Ecoboost? City is my main concern.

      They are very capable.. I actually forgot to talk about the terrain management system in this review, I did though in the 2016 model of the same car I reviewed last year. It's a system that has a "sand mode" "mud/rut mode" and "snow/gravel/gras" mode. It's a rotary dial that sits right by the cup holders... It will adjust the intelligent 4WD (awd) system to what ever condition you are driving in.

      Mikayla Belden Ford explorer is one of the most reliable in it's segment,definitely more reliable than the pilot and pathfinder at r least the current gen pathfinder and 2016 - pilot, guessing it's also more reliable than the traverse.

    I have a Taurus company car and it is black and I will never get another black one again. It is so hard to keep clean. On top of that it is so hot in the Spring/Summer. Where I live in the deep south it is in the upper 90's to near 100 everyday. I have no idea where my head was when I ordered a black car.

      Alviniscute my sport has only two seats in the middle row. It has a walkway to the 3rd row. Its an option you can add!! Not much more expensive either

      Alviniscute My parents actually own a loaded XLT explorer and the rear seats are actually waaay easier to use than depicted, to fold the second row to get to the 3rd row, you simply pull the lever all the way up and the seat folds and comes up with one motion.to get out of the 3rd row, you simply just pull the rope thingy and the seat will ford and go up giving you plenty room to get out.you don't need to pull the lever and the rope thingy and you don't need someone to help you.

    You can modify these vehicles very easily. It doesn't take much to really make this thing move! With a simple Chip reflash, intake (don't take out the stock airbox just replace the tube and put in a cone filter), and catback exhaust you'll go from 365hp to 470hp and we've verified it. The total cost of the mods was just $1800!!!

      Wow hefty price tag, but with all you get I guess it is a good price, compared to the competitors. I am a diehard Ford fan, I find it hard looking outside of the Ford family of vehicles. I feel Ford gives you much more for your money than others. Thanks for all your videos. I envy the fact that you get to drive all those new toys lol.

      Pretty much the same car. Same engine. but inside the leather is pleated and apparently upgraded but I couldn't really tell the difference in comfort, but it does have massaging seats -- though they weren't particularly good. Has wood trim on top of steering wheel and inlays, exterior chrome accents instead of blackended, independent suspension (not sport tuned), lane assist, self-park assist (gimmick for people that can't park), and a loaded sport is about $2k less than the platinum. I went for the sport purely because of the interior, although I preferred the exterior of the platinum. Couple minor differences where the sport is slightly lowered, and has more sensitive steering. I bought mine in Canada where another difference is Sport can't be optioned with the upgraded 500W stereo, but 380W is loud enough for me.
      I've had my sport for 3 days now and I absolutely love it! The engine note is incredible, even sounds better than Audi Q7 or SQ5, which I test drove. Sounds similar to an angry Mercedes, and has some real weight to it.
      Also has the exact same engine has the police interceptor models (though those are tuned more aggressively, but have the same hp/torque!).
      Smoked quartz is a new color this year, and that's the color I got. Looks like crap on the website configurator but in person it's amazing.. very dark metallic gray, almost black. Hides dirt better than black.

      @kevinb2014 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We just shopped today for Platinum and Sport. I was hoping to get a Platinum, and was really looking forward to the massaging seats that come standard. Man was I disappointed. It was a total deal killer. They're BAD. The side bolsters are tight, and if you're skinny, no problem. But if you're at all large, forget about it. They're very uncomfortable. I don't know what idiots designed those seats. As expensive as the massing seats are, you'd think they'd have included power side bolsters (like I had years ago on my '97 Mercury Cougar). That was people of various sizes could be comfortable in the seats. But unfortunately, there is no adjustment, and they're tight and pressed into the side of our legs too much. So as nice as the massage feature felt, it was negated by the uncomfortable pressure on the sides of our legs. I can't imagine how miserable that would feel driving a long distance.
      Fortunately, the Platinum and Sport both have the same engine, and same suspension, according to Ford's web site. So although we have to stick with a black interior with the Sport--we were hoping for the lighter camel colored leather to lighten up the interior--we decided we like the black leather OK in the Sport. Fewer exterior color selections in the Sport as well, but we love the Ruby Red, so it wasn't an issue.

      @kmorness 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sport really grew on me after purchase. The Sport does have a unique suspension and rides lower -- all other trims have a different suspension and a slightly less sporty steering ratio. The sport interior really won out for me. Just metal and leather, and red accent stitching is nice. No wood anywhere!

    Why does the sport get the better key and the door handle censor to lock instead of a button, even though the platinum gets the better and the more boring key, but it’s more expensive!
