      I have just finished all the Acquisitions Inc. stuff and was about to go searching for more RPG fun so you my friend have done your good deed for the day! Thank you! I am about to work my way through Tabletops season 1 :). And yes, Will has his dial at 11 but better than at 1 as that would be boring. Although, as you say a 8 wouldn't hurt now and again lol. But without 11 the whole acid pit thing would not have been nearly as entertaining! :)

    39:55 The epitome of every discussion between a fighter and a caster during an encounter when both end up getting attacked

      RUdigitized Totally screwed that up.... I think this should have been put on Episode 7....., but the discussion on that one is two casters discussing it....

    Pro Tip: I play as a Cleric and I can tell you that the BEST way to prevent meltdowns like this is to have the mentality that everyone's survival is my personal responsibility. Whenever I run with a group I let them have their fun during roleplay and do silly fun things in the town but when the dungeon starts I tell them DO NOT get out of my H.W. range if you do I can't heal you. Also I let everyone know that at LEAST one of my heals is reserved for the Defender. We've been playing a year strong and no one has died yet. The DM doesn't punish us for being careful btw that's a key factor. Some DMs like to kill players and in that case you really can't blame the party for someone dying. Deep down I think Chris wanted to kill off Aeofel that trap was incredibly powerful.

      RUdigitized Yeah, happens all the time with fighters, there will be six or seven orcs and the fighter or someone goes wading into the middle while the rest of the party is trying to deal with the couple in the doorway and suddenly two or three hidden rogues come out of the shadows and he's getting flanked and blasted from the front and no one can get to him in time to keep him standing.
      Best approach is to not think of yourselves as individuals in combat, go the Navy SEALS route and think of yourselves as one unit that fights, moves and does their jobs as a whole. I've seen TPK's actually where simple, basic monsters take out a whole team by using the same strategy, rather than having the hobgoblins charging into the fray the party jumps in and suddenly the hobgoblins form a phalanx and interlock their shields and come in as a cohesive unit. Prevents the rogues from getting flanks, they get all sorts of bonuses for forming a tower shield wall, rangers can't get solid shots at them with their bows and so on. If there's (god forbid) archers firing from crenelations and they're smart too, or they have spellcasters set up antimagic traps or toss magic missiles from above, all focusing on the spellcasters for example who may pose a threat to the unit on the ground with their AOE spells for example, then a real simple encounter with weak monsters can become a fucking nightmare of epic proportions. Doesn't mean the PC's can't win but if they're stupid about things they'll get cut to shreds.
      The problem is DM's tend to think of monsters as roving mobs like in an MMO, Kobolds may not be brilliant but they're smart enough they wouldn't go charging five or six combat beast adventurers three at a time. Mind you, that TPK was back in the AD&D 2nd edition days...they may have altered the rules for interlocking shields and 9/10ths cover and such now.

      RUdigitized my group was playing pathfinder on roll20 and my clerics aura as a half elf was so powerful the gm nerfed me....by like lvl 9 or so my channel energy roll was multiplied by 4....and my cha was so high i never had to use a healing spell.....she used to be sooooo cool.....then he decided to add guns to the game in the form of a skeletal gunslinger who double crit me and shot me in the eye.....so now i play an oracle with the winter domain....i named her Elsa....for the giggles

    Regardless of what anyone else says, it sounds to me (as a DM) like Binwin was the one splitting the party by telling Aeofel to go after the guy. It was the dwarf's obsession that caused this situation.

    • @nickilecuyer7584
      @nickilecuyer7584 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Chasing after a scared dwarf to possibly keep him from warning others about the party's presence and jumping into known about danger (fire) are two very different things, therefore unable to be compared. Nobody jumped into any known danger on purpose, so no. I would not jump into a fire if told to. That's just a stupid question.

      It could be considered and argued either way. But as a DM/pc i understand it could be a character flaw, bond or whatever.... It makes sense for the story that this happened because of background.

      These podcasts/videos came out when 4e was the newest edition. They've since upgraded to 5e, however. Check out their newer live shows on the D&D channel (beginning with the 2013 show, I think) and their new weekly show (studio sessions split into 30 minute videos) on the Penny Arcade channel for 5e stuff.

    "Does lighting affect their internal workings in any way?", Why don't you role arcana and find out what your PC knows. Knowledge and INT must be a dump stat with this group. Good casual session, but by being able to speak OOC all the time, this seems more like a live action video game than an fantasy *Roleplaying* game
