Not exactly a new thing. Binwin and Viari are at least decent people.
It is unfortunate that they skipped some thing if you listen to the last episode 3 jerry is talking and then it starts off with Jim and the ray of frosts. :-(. I have been noticing that through most of the seasons.
Just edit videos while listening to them like I do. You won't even notice. It's great.
This episode never fails to make me laugh.
Season 8 and PAX West 2013 were peak Acq Inq. This episode was pure gold.

it would have been kind of weird if jim said he wanted the good news first " the good news is it freezes to death, the bad news is it's resistant to cold"
I was in a game where we had a really weird, but fun, campaign and it wasn't until i started watching this that i realized he took the idea from these videos. The frog thing gave it away

What expansion are they playing here? It has advantage disadvantage system and dex/str for finesse and it sounds eerily like 5e, but i am aware that its a 2013 episode. Sooooo im confused.
This was part of the playtest for 5th Edition. They were calling it D&D Next at the time.

Only the second statue can be honest anyway, since they can't both be honest after one said:" One of us two is lying." It can't be a lie, since there are only two statues and the statement could only be wrong if the statue that made the statement lied by doing so and then still one of them would be a liar and therefore the statement would still be true. Hence you could just ask the second statue your questions.
Even if the "One of the two statues lies" statement came from an outside source, It wouldn't matter if the one who said:" We will answer three questions", was lying or not. You would just have to ask the other one what the former one's answer to your question would be. If the former actually does lie, the statue you asked what that answer would entail would truthfully tell you the other one's wrong answer, and if the first statue isn't lying you would receive a false answer from the one you posed the question to. Either way the opposite of what the statue says would be true. Of course, this would only work with a "closed" question, with only two possible answers.
I don't think your analysis is correct there. The one who claims "One of us two is lying" can easily lie. It means the statement cannot be true, so the other one must be lying as well. So if statue two speaks the truth, statue one lies. If statue two lies, statue one also lies. Which means that statue one certainly lies, while we know nothing about statue two.
As a consequence, you should ask any binary question you have to statue one, knowing their answer is not correct.

those statues was a sort of wierd puzzle cause left statue could not tell the truth because: if left statue tells the truth then the right statue will not be able to say what it did cause:
right statue said that one statue lied and one statue didn't
if left statue tells the truth the right statue lie if it always told the truth and tell the truth if it always lied
so i would have put the mini mage in the other mage
