It would be great if PennyArcade went back and put those cool animations they have in the new Aquisitions Incorporated stuff into these older podcasts! They are timeless and deserve the extra work!
Burning Dwarf or Dwarf on fire needs to be Scott's tweeter handle. I also say that Burning Dwarf would be a great D&D festival like a large outdoor convention. Maybe I need to pitch that idea to Wizards of the Coast.
That whole chomper scenario shouldnt have happened to Binwin. Dwarves cant be pushed, pulled or slid with their racial ,stand your ground. But it was still fun to listen to.
Would have been fun to have Aoefel use his overwhelming strike(s) after the fey step to swap places with Butch Cassidy & his friend to pull himself out of the fire while putting them in it. Conversely, getting to see him miss twice while attempting such a maneuver and remain in the fire himself would also have been acceptable
Ninja2337 That's an interesting way to use it. The coolest I've ever seen was one of my players used it to make a copper piece look like an Astral Diamond to bribe a Xorn into fighting for them. He later used the same trick on a Ogre.
+Ezekiel Ellis You're looking at it too small man; using Prestidigitation to make ladies pretty instantly and you can make more money in a populated city then by any amount of dungeonering!
I don't think Pres. works that way. It's not an illusion smell, it cleans/dirties objects, not makes them "look/smell" better. Ninja's use is reasonable as you can instantly clean objects including creatures up, but making a copper piece look like a diamond seems completely unreasonable, something that would be better suited to a Minor Illusion spell (Though better magic might be required because of the contact problem).
+Hossam Eddine Benmessaoud Yes, moving squares, so boring. They should just be able to sit in a basement and fight creatures infinite distance away without ever having to move because moving is boring.
It's all very entertaining. Sure, it's a bit 'made for tv' but damn they can be funny. Why worry about occasional errors or people not remembering every detail, just enjoy. I think it's cool that Wil is a gamer. And I do like the rotating interns after listening to all episodes. Good shtick.
+Andrew Orwin I like listening to it while doing my own D&D stuff. What I think is that a lot of the smartassing back seaters sit there with their rule books and notes of the show to complain about everything :D
+Bartoc Those people need to get a life. This is a game and we should be playing it to have fun. They are having fun and as it says in the rule books the rules are guides and every DM can do with them as they will. Chris is telling a story and one doesn't let things get in the way of that. If I wanted to be weighed down by that negativity I wouldn't be playing a game to help me have fun and escape that.
Yeah. The problem is.. This is humanity in a nut shell :P You have fun about something and others come and talk it down ;) When I DM I allow more things that are ruled out when it helps the story and pacing. Others probably love humping the books, though
+Bartoc If that is their thing then they can do that with others who like that style. Example: Yesterday in our game, A troll, who was on fire after being doused with oil, was stumbling toward a spike-filled pit. It was large enough that it could climb down the pit and up the other side and potentially get away. That was not acceptable. My halfling character decided that his best chance of stopping the troll was to make a sort of tumbling trip attack to hopefully have the troll fall into the pit and impale itself on the spikes. The DM allowed it and we did the d20 dance and I made the check - whatever check she had decided was appropriate - by 1 and the troll took a nosedive down into the pit where we could continue dousing it with oil and watching it burn it up as it tried to extricate itself from the spikes. When I first started playing back in 1980 or so I was told that the two most important things I needed to play were imagination and creativity. I took that to heart. No one mentioned the ability to memorize every rule and look down upon those who have not. Now I don't know if there is a specific mechanic for trying to do a trip attack while not setting myself on fire from the troll but I put it in the hands of the DM who hopefully rewarded me for being creative (and potentially a little foolhardy) and came up with her own mechanic on the fly. It was fun, kept the story going, players and DM were happy... game on!
Combat sounds pretty hum drum for at least the first 10 min. ... carbs and sugar wearing off or just stress. Fortunately, it picks up after the Zone of Radiance (14:00) Nice to see that even Chris stumbles with npc names 27:00+. After all this I definitely want to play an Avenger in any edition. Can't believe the cleric doesn't have Create Water, I know it is only in containers but at least everyone would be wet and may get a bonus to NOT catching fire as easily.
shikenkanbaby What should spark up is that they got a Bag of Holding in Season 1...yet Scott asks if they exist. Then again, not a season goes by where Temporary Hit Points, Charging, and being able to add over 10 doesn't get explained over and over again to Scott. Just add the Bag of Holding reference to the pile.
Jerry needs to chill out and put a lit on his desire to tell the DM how to run his game. the DM is chris perkin for christ sake. he knows his game better then jerry ever will.
You can hear this at the very beginning of season two, when Chris begins first describing the adventure. He has to quiet Jerry, who is already making determinations on his behalf, then again *while* describing he has to raise his voice to be heard over him. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris held his finger out to tell him to hold on.
@@IrishAndroid He was making quips dumbass not even remotely suggestions, which if you haven't played in a long time and he finally gets to experience with his best friend who he writes with basically every day by making such quips than that's an instinct you have to quiet. It's also only a problem when the channel for communication is singular - like when playing D&D online. Theres no table between people and theres an audience that needs to hear - it's different again. And again they are under dramatic time constraints and playing 4e, already a nightmare. Jerry caught on the second Chris raised his voice. I've known excitable players in my day, I much prefer them to silent doorstops. Also his sense of humor is great when you get with the program, very unique.

''Does nineteen work for you?'' Said Weaton.
"I just have a thing with fire" wait till you know acid al.
My new hobby re- listening to awesome podcasts yay me!
"Take off the Cloak!" "What's that?" "I can't hear you over the flames, my cloaks on fire!"
The way Wheaton worries about traps he would have been better suited being in Star Wars rather than Star Trek.
In Wils defense of math mess up. Nobody else at the table caught it either. So chalk it up to temporary table fail
It's not a D&D game until somebody quotes Monty Python. Thanks, Wil.
Let's get a rogue next.
*smiles in Viari *
the jim dark magic experience hits here all day
Mage hand is the best part of being a mage
they found a bag of holding last season....
And.... It continues. Binwin up... Binwin down... Binwin up... Binwin down....
"USE YOUR FUCKING MAGIC!"
Best ever.
That whole chomper scenario shouldnt have happened to Binwin. Dwarves cant be pushed, pulled or slid with their racial ,stand your ground. But it was still fun to listen to.
I really liked the intern (Will) on this season. He seems like a really nice guy
I'm very tempted to scearch 'flaming dwarf '..

Cantrips are too useful, I once used prestidigitation to make prostitutes look/smell better.
So which of your party slept with the "pretty" prostitute? Lol

Got anything for disease resistance?
er.. just see a cleric afterwords?
so how did will go about joining penny arcade..did he call them or other way around....
i know he doesnt work for penny arcade itself but when they decided to do the d&d thing did they advertise or did will volunteer
I think it is a paid job ...
Yeah. They're paid. Mike mentions he never would've done this if he hadn't been paid, although he later ended up loving it.
I've never seen someone backseat for both his fellow players AND the dm as aggressively as Jerry does in these sessions
No one checked the maul the berzerker was using... figured Binwin would have wanted it :(
56:40 Will Wheaton catch phrase
My D20 is awesome
I think freaking gasmed on this episode.
his name is "ARRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrgh"
"Cut that out, Kiko."
the 4th Edition combat system with the movement is very boring
+Hossam Eddine Benmessaoud Yes, moving squares, so boring. They should just be able to sit in a basement and fight creatures infinite distance away without ever having to move because moving is boring.
no I just meant it needed the stream lining that it got in 5th
V blurs are we missing some of episode 4?
Possibly. Even the original podcast recordings sometimes ended abruptly.
Burnwell Bronzbottom...? Lol

Andrew Orwin
And suddenly you realise the trolls name was Freddy Krueger ;)
Is anyone willing to write down the oath words? I can't figure it out XD
dangerman747 Meyah-tahn see'en alohim.
what video was that one in?
and thanks so far :3
dangerman747 This one, at 3:06. The spelling is not official; it's my best stab at it.

shufferin' shucotash!
HA! Wil Wheaton with a Disneyland reference. "Beware of Hitchhiking ghosts!"
Bag of Holding is not in the Adventurer's Vault Whil, it's actually in Player's Handbook 1, page 253

Good math Wil Wheaton… 9+4=11?
Anyone else disturbed by Wil's wrong adding skills at about minute 15...
9+4=11?
Jerry needs to chill out and put a lit on his desire to tell the DM how to run his game.

A lot of that is a dry sort of gamer humour. I use it sometimes, it's generally just a joke.
get a sense of humor....

He forgot to add his proficiency bonus! And oath of enmity allows for two attack roll per go! Arg. Wheaton, sometimes you irk me...
Cut him some slack! It's his first 4e game. He probably hasn't played since 2e.
4e suckt badly ;)
will is so damn cringy.
its hilarious when all you fuckni nerds wanna hate on a NERD for being a NERD about the nerdy shit we all enjoy. im sure you are soo much cooler....
nah hes cool
I like it cause it is a cool contrast to the other more silly players
