I feel like there has been some confusion in the comments about whether or not the MCC cape will be a Java Edition cape as well. I only briefly had a note about this at 1:55, but, yes! It will be! The server to earn it is Bedrock only, but the cape will carry over to that M$ account's Java Edition profile too! Java Edition profiles will get the cape on August 5th, one day after the event ends.
True! I can still imagine some of the newer free capes that we get, are gonna be rarer than the other, see the cherry cape, especially after the whole boycot of the vote, that many choosed to not vote. I can also see now the MCC cape being the rarest of the bunch, because of the effort people need to put into to get one, and that you need to play bedrock - which for some is already a great barrier lol (for me it wasn't a problem hshs)
The only reason I dont have the cape is because I didnt know there was a cape being given away so I didnt bother logging into the world to vote when I could just do it online
@@seni388 i thought i voted for mob vote on thes erver they had for the blossom cape and even emailed them about it, they obviously didnt do much but when i watched the video, ant said you got the blossom one from voting for the last years mobvote, which i didnt do on a server. I thought you got the blossom cape from voting on mob vote before that with the sniffers and other mobs, which i did. Maybe, thats why i didnt get the blossom cape, i didnt even know they did a mob vote on a server for last years mob vote.
I definitely felt like I *earned* that TikTok cape. The instructions were _incredibly_ unclear, and I bounced from stream to stream on desktop for more than an hour before someone reported that you needed to use the app. Ultimately, whatever Mojang was driving for with those promotions just backfired, as content creators just trying to stream got flooded with spam until the promotion period ended.
I can thank my friend for gifting me the code, and then my brother and mom for allowing me to get codes from them, so I could gift them to my friends, and since both were artists, I was given free arts from them as thank you lol
I have the Minecon 2013 cape. It was a birthday present from Mom for my 10th birthday, as I happened to live not even an hour from where the convention was happening. I've had several people offer to buy it off me, but I wouldn't sell it for the world. Both the cape and the account as a whole has significant sentimental value to me, as I've owned this account since 2012 when I first started playing. No matter how many new capes I add to my account, I don't think I'll ever equip anything but that piston on a green background. People always freak out when they see it and for a brief moment I'm the center of attention on any server I join.
Thats really cool, i wouldnt give up that cape either if i had it

People will try and scam and steal it from you, it happens so often nowadays. Be super careful online and don't make yourself contactable from your Minecraft username or NameMC profile.
Well crap, after antvenom covers it, now EVERYONE'S gonna know the mcc cape will be given to people on java that unlock it on the bedrock server! (you got 7 days left to obtain it btw!)
MC capes are becoming a bit like what you'd see in other multiplayer games, except that you can't buy them. Seeing a golden pan in TF2 or a gem in C2 is always quite special, despite there being thousands of other less valuable skins and items.
I never got the vanilla cape even though I still had both game, and recently emailed mojang about it, but they can't give me that cape cuz what they said, is: Kindly note that the Vanilla cape was gifted to the players using an automated system that is no longer active. We are unable to review what might have happened, or why you didn't receive the cape. However, we must be clear that we are no longer able to provide the cape to any player, as the rollout for the gift has concluded. I am really pissed about this
I curiously am the only one in my family I know of who has this cape and we all redeemed our free copies of minecraft windows 10 back in the day, but I ended up having to purchase it around 2018 again due to an error, so I assume it was for people who spent the full $30 on bedrock and not just people who redeemed the free copy around 2015-2017.
Ironically, I have the vanilla cape, but only ever played Bedrock for the first time recently, and definitely never bought it. Not sure why I got it, but I'm not complaining.
I like the new capes! The last Minecon happened when I was 16 lol I never even had a chance to get one, always felt like I missed out. I think they should do more limited-time capes (or maybe just bring minecon back)
yea, all the minecon capes required you to go to 'said' minecon, which means possibly traveling around the world. You couldn't wear minecon capes in bedrock, so if you bought/had bedrock and wanted to have a minecon cape you couldn't. If you only had bedrock and tried to get a cape, well you got "scamed." Capes shouldn't cost money to get, especially if you can't wear them in both versions of the game.
There’s nothing wrong with Mojang releasing these capes. They just need to make sure to double check their work. Case in point, the rollout of the Vanilla cape was wildly a failure. With many bugs not being caught and leaving people (like me) who were eligible without them. Mojang needs to rapidly address this.
@@sentheaS this I believe is confirmed, there's a comment here (was scrolling through, noticed it) and essentially someone was wondering why they weren't given the cape, turns out the person who responded to him said "yeah it was given out on an automatic system and the rollout period ended already", which is funny because I have the Vanilla Cape, despite the fact I didn't even boot Minecraft up for like 6 months prior to it being given out. Maybe I did when I migrated my account but eh, whatever.
I don't understand the argument that "capes are devalued" they're not giving old capes anymore so they don't lose value. Plus the nearest Minecon to my location ever hosted was still 4,000km away so this new method is great for me and many others, and doesn't mean that they won't give a cape for things like the "Save the village" IRL event.
Id say that it was really cool to be able to be told apart as an "og" Minecraft player or a very fanatic one just because of the fact that you had a cape. I can remember how mystified capes were back then.
@@flatkat7781 Yeah but older minecon capes are super mystified too. In the bedrock MCC event I stumbled with a guy who had the Minecon 2012 cape and everyone was taking photos with him (myself included lol)
@@nappeywappeyminecon capes don't exist on bedrock. There's an exploit that allows you to use any cape texture you want and any player model you want. You got bamboozled
One thing I don’t see anyone talking about is that we aren’t celebrating bedrocks birthday, we’re celebrating javas birthday, so why is this mcc server on available on bedrock? I personally don’t have a way to play bedrock because I play on Mac and it’s not available on iOS. My problem with this cape is that you have to log onto bedrock for it. Not fair Microsoft.
Noxcrew gave a reasoning for it, essentially that if they did this on Java, they would have to build all the server hosting code from the ground up, and even then it would be a pitiful amount of players who logged in since it couldn't be in the launcher like Bedrock's is. The code to host an official Bedrock event already exists, so they could spend more time on the games. There's also player count issues. More players and a wider reach play Bedrock than Java. And finally, their Java team was working fully on the Ender Cup, and there's only 15 developers. That would just put insane workloads on Java after doing the P24 Chicken mechanism, the Twitch Rivals stuff, and all the cinematics for ender cup, while the bedrock team would have pretty much nothing
@@randomguyonyoutube5875 yeah sorry I didn’t specify: basically when I had to migrate, Microsoft screwed my account over so I only have my account on my Mac, and I’m not a big fan of logging in with that account on other devices so that’s what I meant
Honestly i would really love the idea of having a cape tied to the year you bought your minecraft account. (2009-now) It would give veterans a really cool reward while newer players dont feel left out of the capes. I've had my account since 2011 since i was 12 and could not attend minecon and just had to vibe with the Optifine cape. So to have a cape to feel like a veteran for owning the game for such a long time would be amazing.
The 2016 one was pretty close to where the 2011 one was It's much worse for those of us like me that didn't live in Europe nor North America Veteran capes should've been the only ones
Honestly after thinking on this idea, I'm amazed nobody at the Minecraft development team thought of this, or at least if they had, I'm amazed that it didn't pass.
I've heard they were thinking of doing different capes for each year an account has owned Minecraft, but decided not to because it would be painting massive hacker targets on the backs of older accounts. As others already stated, it was replaced by the Migrator cape. I still would've liked a rare cape though....
Despite voting in the Mob vote via the launcher, AND the bedrock event, I never got the Cherry Blossom cape or even knew it existed until recently. I contacted Mojang support and they said they can't help me lol. Very cool.
@@AntVenom I LITERALLY HAVE IT IN THE BEDROCK EDITION BUT NOT JAVA?!?! They are both connected to the same Microsoft account so idk how that's even possible.
Apparently Mojang support no longer has the ability to give out capes. There has been multiple occasions where support would give out super rare capes they're not supposed to. Last time this happened was with the release of the green 15 year anniversary cape and they happened to give a scammer the 1/1 birthday cape.
I kinda wish I had this cape, but I wasn’t around to do so even thou I knew mob voting existed, plus I didn’t know where to get it anyways so I’m hoping mojang will do another mob voting event and either bring back this cape or make a new one for it.
I personally find it SO cool that Mojang would be willing to collaborate with the platforms & community-made events/creations for capes. It's made a lot more of my pals feel individualistic & is such a sweet way to celebrate the many different ways that our community comes together (MCC, Mob Votes, Social Medias).
i like the idea of capes becoming more available, especially because the capes people get from those initial minecon events are still rare. its not like they are giving them out
The reason I dont have any of the Minecon capes is because im this thing called poor, I was never able to go anywhere as a kid because I was homeless and broke and now as an adult im almost homeless and still broke.
Somehow I doubt you were homeless as a kid in or near a country with a Minecon, your parents would have had to be irresponsible enough for CPS or an equivalent organisation to get involved
@@My_Old_YT_Account for about 6 months of my life my mom and 4 siblings lived from a van and the only place we had to go was a motel that let my mom stay for free because it’s a small town and everybody knew each other. So yes I was technically homeless when I was a kid and I am 24 now.
As an exclusively Java player, I'm disappointed you can only get the cape on Bedrock (even when the event is celebrating the 15th anniversary of Java Edition!) I was about a month too late for a Windows 10 key when I built my PC, so I was stuck with Windows 11. It drove me so crazy to the point that I switched to Linux. Bedrock Edition is one of a handful of games which I've been unable to play since then (as it's a Microsoft store app, which are notoriously difficult to get running), which makes events like these completely inaccessible to me solely because I didn't want to pay Mojang's greedy overlords hundreds of dollars so they could serve me ads and shove Copilot down my throat. This is exactly what people were concerned about when Microsoft bought Mojang. They gained our trust, then hit us with Microsoft accounts, then chat/skin reporting which could ban you from the entire game and all private servers, and they're continuously pushing people to the inferior microtransaction-filled version of the game. Microsoft will be the end of this game.
@@spok_real except the problem is then I’d have to rebuy the game for android and I know the experience will be just as bad or worse than the PC build of bedrock. It’d be a waste of money.
@@AntVenom Bedrock won't launch for me. It's been like this for ~3 years. I always get some BS error that I can't find a fix for online or it gets stuck on the loading screen
that casual flex right at the end hahahaha seriously though, this was a great video and i really do look forward to the future possibilities of capes!!
I do wonder if they ever brought back in-person Minecraft events, would they even have capes associated with them or would they decide that it's not accessible enough for newer capes these days and not have one? Also you really did just flex how many capes you have
Iirc they planned on having an in person event called Minecraft festival that would have had a cape reward but it was canceled due to COVID and never returned
I loved earning my cape - brought me back to grinding to unlock armor in Halo 3. It’s really hard to find those experiences in the days of merch stores and battle passes.
I’m confused, wouldn’t you still be able to get the cape since everyone with Java get’s Bedrock? You just use the Microsoft account you use for Java for Bedrock as well
@@yut8204 no, they gave out the vanilla cape at the same time as merging the purchase of java and bedrock editions, which means that only people who bought them both separately BEFORE they made the change get the cape
Your account is awesome first off, I totally agree that capes should take time and be a little tricky to get. I love how the MCC cape is harder to get than the other 3 we got this year. Hopefully in the future capes stay cross compatible between java and bedrock and take time to get because it really feels like an achievements when you work for something!
Until now, I have been using the mod Minecraft Capes.... I have no idea how no one knows about it but it not only allows you to use capes, but upload any texture you want your cape to be
If the capes are for your own personal entertainment and enjoyment, then by all means. A lot of others like that their capes are a somewhat proof of dedication to the game. I'll say the Minecon capes were part of an otherwise expensive purchase, but the recent events have proven that Mojang wants them to feel rewarding for being part of the community. I couldn't be more happy that this is were it is going.
People forget that Minecons werent some easily accessible thing for the vast majority of people who played Minecraft back then. If you didnt live near a big city in the continental US you were basically out of luck. At least with the newer capes anyone playing at the time can get them rather than a lucky few.
I feel that this new cape only being available through bedrock is an afront to minecraft itself. as the original is java, and bedrock is only a derivitive to capitalize on microtransactions.
>is an afront to minecraft itself. As Noxcrew stated, the framework for the server was already there of Bedrock, and you can directly connect from the menu/without having to enter the Server IP with Bedrock. If they went with Java, they'd have to build the server from the ground up before doing any of the server itself, which would cost a lot of time/effort/money, for a MUCH smaller reach
I'm guessing that's going to be the plan for Microsoft going forward, since Bedrock has more players, exploits 10yos with watered-down marketplace content that on Java is both free with the option to donate and less restricted in production and content (For example you could just make a mod of real cars with without having to get licenses), and isn't playable on Mac or Linux (Microsoft doesn't want those platforms to have success), but is on Xbox consoles. Players are also given incentive to play on these platforms even more thanks to the cross-platform multiplayer for each platform of Bedrock
@@ZoomieDeer 28 year old, I love playing on Bedrock, with my pc. I don't see the need for content to be free, after all someone had to work on it and they deserve the full compensation. Yeah, they can't actively make things that are branded, but this just seems even more like a positive when they have to come up with something creative and individual to them. Lastly, there are still ways to get free add ons on your PC and Pocket Edition Bedrock through the internet and adding the files. I get that Java is a lot more limitless in this regard, and it's nice that there are options. It's just disappointing that people have to be so negative towards the other players that love the game like they do.
Sometimes, I still wear the Founder's Cape on Bedrock. It reminds me that I've played that version before the Character Creator existed. Yesterday, I managed to get the MCC Cape. The amount of time and effort I've put in to get it really made it feel special seeing it appear on my screen. While some of the mini-games had lag spikes, it paid off in the end. I hope that Mojang continues this trend for earning capes, or even brand new player cosmetics to match with capes!
because I migrated on a different microsoft account, which I didn't knew I had the bedrock account on another one, I lost the Founder's cape, which is a real punch in the gut, also missed out on the progression cape, and I didnt even got the Vanilla cape, despite being eligible for so, but still got all the other free ones so far, and cherry cape is my fav, so everything else is just a sour taste left lol And trueee, it was fun getting the MCC cape!
I didn't even know about the Founders Cape, haven't touched Bugrock in like over 5 years. But I remember playing back in the like _early_ early days of MCPE, when the creative menu was a single page scroll, I don't even remember if survival existed yet, the world was small and didn't have the nether (pre reactor core), and ice wasn't even an obtainable block for some reason (though you could find it in the world gen if you were lucky), you couldn't even rename your account. Super barebones but it was good times, a lot like Alpha.
I used to have founders cape and i miss it.... but i agree with the mcc cape as i currently dont got a pc or console so i lagged to death on my phone but its so worth it.
Yeah its kinda weird cause it's not even bedrocks anniversary technically. Java was released first! I get that they want bedrock to be the main version, but come on, you could at least get it on both versions if you earn it on bedrock...
@@lordzeuscannon6400 ...you know you just said something completely redundant/kind of dumb, right? It IS Java's Anniversary. As you said it's also Minecraft's Anniversary. It is, however, not Bedrock's Anniversary.
My teenage self back in 2014 would kill for a singular official Minecraft cape. But now in 2024 I have 6 capes (soon to be 7 once the MCC cape shows up on Java next week). Kinda crazy but I appreciate Mojang for making capes more accessible. I used to envy everyone who had a Minecon cape, these days I couldn't care any less about them now that I have plenty of capes on my account.
We should really bring up the Cherry Blossom cape again. That shit was disgusting: - Mojang sees people boycotting the mob vote - Mob vote finishes - They decides to give a cape to all the people who voted What a shitty move. There should always be transparency on what will reward you with a cape.
a lot of the backlash was either bugs or people complaining about it cant win. when a majority of the player base doesn't interact with anything at all in the community. the armadillo was more Appeling to casual players and that's why it won.
@@manachromeYT what? I think you missed the point of my comment: it doesn't matter what mob won, or that they didn't cancel the mob vote. the issue I tried to convey was the fact they gave out a cape without letting people know how to get it. once the cape released and people knew about it, it was too late to get it.
I hope they add more specific capes from some specific people. Some examples are JTE, the player who recommended and even helped code Golden apples and the large variant of oak trees, That Miclee gets his bacon cape back, and maybe some custom capes for Philza because of his 5 year hardcore world run, and maybe a Jellie cape for GoodTimesWithScar, whom unfortunately passed away some 6 months ago (his cat was added to the game a couple of years ago). Anyways, that's just my idea though, but I think it would be sweet for members of the community. Also I'd like a TH-cam cape but its fine. Anyways cya Ant or anyone else reading this.
An issue I and many others have with the vanilla cape is that we got minecraft java and bedrock on different emails, so despite having them for years I never received one.
As someone who has unlock the luminous nights cape in Minecraft dungeons, I'd love to be able to use said cape in java/bedrock It's a 100 rank season award (And it wasn't in the premium rewards so as long as you did it before the season ended you'll unlock it for free, as it's now ended you'd have to pay to get access to it) It's a grind much harder than the cape they've just released and Not many people will have Minecraft dungeons and those that, not many of them would've completed the seasons quest
I had fun getting the MCC cape, and I'm also happy I did it with zero hints, despite lag and struggling to figure out a couple of the challenges (Lost Pearl and Helipad Puzzle mainly). I'm still working on getting all chests in one run of Sands of Time, and maybe I'll attempt Netherite Medal in Ace Race, though I'm not interested in waiting for the multiplayer games anymore
I'm glad they're making capes more available, but it is unfortunate that so far they all involve either visiting a web page or joining a Bedrock only server. The best thing they could do is attach capes as a reward for in-game achievements/advancements, like getting a special cape for completing achievements like We Need to go Deeper, Free The End, How Did We Get Here?, etc.
@@MacchinaDelTempoo I don't think it'd be that easy, just make them only count if you're on the newest version on a world without cheats or creative enabled. To ppl like us those reqs are easy, but remember that the average MC player hasn't even beaten the ender dragon before lmao, and HDWGH is still a lot of effort for experienced players.
Tbh, I really like the idea of completing challenges to earn a cape. It adds on the fun AND really wants the the player to really grind the best they can to earn something that's only available for a limited time. Like for example: Just yesterday, I've completed the final secret cave challenge after logging onto Minecraft everyday just to get that MCC cape and let me tell ya, it freaking paid off. It's a unique and fun experience and I hope they get to do that again in the future.
I really enjoyed the sands of time minigame with its challenges in particular personally, it was really fun to explore this temple and learn what it contains to optimize your path when doing the challenges
I liked the freeze zombies one a lot more. And the sands of time for the challenge they didnt say how to escape so had to search it up meanwhile I wasted a lot of time trying to find an exit
Having to actually do something for capes now is cool and all, but since I use GNU/Linux I can't play Bedrock Edition on my computer... so now with the Bedrock exclusive capes we're being forced to use garbage Microsoft Windows, which is terrible. For me having to play Bedrock is not just an annoyance, it's literally impossible.
@@jeokim Not an official one. I have not searched around much (because I am not interested in playing Bedrock, also not for this cape), but the one community-driven launcher I just found required installing all kinds of things like drivers that I wouldn't want to install on my computer / aren't compatible with my system.
I've always been in favor of adding new capes for special events like how the Minecon capes were handled (and despite the many issues with the mob votes, I like the cherry blossom cape being rewarded this way), but I think 4 capes for a single anniversary event is absolutely cape-inflation. One per event would be much appreciated. Unrelated, but it saddens me that Mojang will (most likely) never host an official event on Java, opting to instead host exclusively on the inferior version of the game. Hopefully when we get closer to parity, events can be hosted on both editions simultaneously.
bedrock is cleaner in terms of graphics and shading and is more geared towards the average player. if you're a long-term hardcore player modder or you like super seriously into Minecraft then java is the one you want to play. personally, I don't really play java due to me being so used to a controller
@@lordzeuscannon6400 which is the average demographics of mobile players who a large chunk of bedrock players are on. Part of the reason for its things and extra quirk's. I even looked it up and mobile smart phones make more sales than pc. Meaning Minecraft is more mobile game than pc game. Which explains the rarity implementation
The MCC cape is probably the hardest event cape (except the cobalt and the scrolls). While minecon capes are rare, they technically weren’t hard to get, they just weren’t easily available for many players. i hope there will be more capes that requires some effort to get in the future. i also suspect that one of reasons they launched a bedrock server is because there isn’t any way to track such challenges and reward a cape in game on java. Similarly the follower’s and the purple heart capes couldn’t be activated with codes if they were initially on java. However, the cherry cape was possible to track because of the votes; and the 15th anniversary didn’t require any verification (except owning the game) so the button just immediately assigned the cape to an account.
capes also pose a huge personal safety risk to players with rare capes- unfortunately it's only a matter of time before someone is physically maimed or gravely injured by malicious account extortion groups all because they didn't want to sell their "rare" minecraft account.
The issue with that is Mojang are pretty quick to ban accounts once they find out they've been hijacked. Plus, it's easy to imagine groups of people resorting to those kinds of actions, but, for a Minecraft cape? I kind of doubt it. If it hasn't become an issue for RS3 accounts w/ Party Hats, or WoW accounts w/ rare mounts, then I don't see it happening here.
@@AntVenom It's not a "prevalent" issue, at least not enough for Jagex to go on a spree about it, but the RS3 accounts getting hacked thing is very much a problem over here and there are more than a few cases of people being robbed or extorted for their GP.
We live in a world where 2FA is the norm and Mojang could easily just mandate that only accounts with 2FA enabled can claim special capes from events to help prevent this. They could also send out reminders to anybody who claimed the capes about account security, reminding people that selling their account isn't allowed and not to download any files sent to them by someone asking to buy the account. They could also add extra checks on email changes for these accounts with rare capes in order to make them harder to hijack.
The only bad thing is the lag when jumps. That complicated some puzzles for me cause i live on the other side of the planet. But i did everything and now I'm waiting for my cape.
Yeah the lag kinda killed some of the games (ace race mainly because of how I do player movement while flying) I weirdly enough remember paying for the no crew standalone version of grid runners
I didn't realize the 15 year anniversery event was happening because I use Modrinth and play singleplayer or with friends via World Host mod so I missed the green 15 year cape and I'm pissed about that because I'm an old pre alpha 1.1.2 player. You'd think they'd go "hey your account is 15 years old, here's a unique cape" but no you gotta go click a damn button before x time and I only found out about it a month after it finished and I've only just heard about this one on the 5th August. These timed things are becoming a pisstake
So if I do not own a windows PC or anything that can decently run MC Bedrock, I cannot get the cape. Let's not worry, it is still being gatekept nicely, if you only play the original version. Also, the number of people that can get on a server and finish the challanges is bigger than the numbers that could go to a minecon when those were still a thing, but nowhere near an inflationary "everyone gets a super great looking amazing cape". If we give these things value (personal, memories, showing off) the more difficult to obtain capes will still mean something, even if everyone can have *A* cape. I think there needs to be all ways of getting on, from clicking a link, to being onsite at some physical or in-game event. The more the merrier...
For the Black Qiraji battle tank don't forget that you also had to be there in sithilus to ring the gong, you also had to have completed the war effort for both factions and collect enough items to complete the before hand quests.
I liked the 15th Anniversary Cape challenge. It was a challenge that took some time and dedication to earn, but not so much time that it felt like an impossible grind. And Sands of Time is a really good mini-game that I intend to go back and play a few more times before the server goes down even though I have already completed all the challenges.
i personally love how theyre making capes more common for several reasons 1. they just look sick in general 2. improving account safety. old minecon capes will always be a hot selling point for account stealers, but the sheer commonness of the new capes makes accounts with them alot less valuable 3. removing elitist culture from minecraft and capes
I really didn't want to get down the TikTok rabbit hole of scrolling videos for hours, so even tho I got all the other capes I just refused to make a TikTok account just for the cape, I might regret it later on but I still have the other 5 capes, soon to be 6 with the MCC cape.
Me personally I do regret not trying to get the TikTok cape. Not only because my collection of 15th anniversary capes feels sorta incomplete without it, but also it was just a really cool design.
I don’t regret it myself. I got the twitch one because I had it. But I liked the green 15th cape more anyways with the creeper face. Plus the red and blue texture on the back looks busy to me and bugs my eyes just enough that I wouldn’t use it anyways. But I fully agree with just not making the account for the tiktok cape. I’m still rocking the cherry one
I like the community capes they’re doing, but I never cared for the platform cape idea. It makes Minecraft feel more corporate than it already feels to me. I hate seeing brands in games.
I like how someone with so many capes still stands with the way newer capes are being released. Nice video btw i agree with your thoughts on the mcci cape ❤
Mojang: Makes capes not rare Community: NOOOOOO CAPES ARE NOT RARE AND SPECIAL ANYMORE Mojang: Makes capes rare Community: NOOOOOO CAPES ARE RARE AND SPECIAL
people who went to minecon are just salty these days it's easier to get capes now. Basically what I'm saying is people who went to minecons are jealous they had to pay lots of cash, when we got it at our homes (not specific capes, but capes in general)
I'm fine with capes in general being more common as long as it: 1. Requires you to participate in an event, and if you don't, you can never get the cape 2. You have to work to get the cape, like how people who went to physical Minecons(which was very expensive) or help with translating Minecraft in different languages. (Paying money doesn't count for this)
I never cared for capes. Sure, I wanted the recent purple heart cape, but after the claim failed because "the code was already used" it just want's worth the time anymore.
they made MCC, which only has servers on java, host their server on bedrock and force java players to use it for multiple hours and then they're going to force them to wait to get it..
I kinda wish they started doing this like 7 years ago. As a teenager I would've eaten this up, but now idk if I can be bothered to spend the time to get a cosmetic I know I'll never use, even if it'll never be available again lmao
In 2012, Minecraft Xbox 360/PS3 had a charity skin pack for Halloween, a couple of them had capes which I believe were the first console skins to get a Cape. The skin pack was actually taken down once the charity event had ended and the skin pack didn't come back around till about 2015/2016 in the Halloween mash up pack. So for those 2 or 3 years, having a Cape was exclusive to those people. Pretty cool stuff.
@@superNova5837 Yeah I saw vanilla cape, idk how I don’t have it… I had to buy both versions separately 🤣 Ummm Although I did see a few orange creeper capes and was ‘neat’. It is nice seeing the older designs, really cool.
It's been 10 plus years at this point so probably won't happen and it would kind off be impossible since the migration thing kind of screwed with the dates of purchase for all accounts made before it and plus most likely they wouldn't do it because it locks newer players out still a fun idea though
never. theyre two completely different games on completely different coding launguages. if they were willing to merge the two then they wouldve also made bedrock on par or even better than java in every way.

The server to earn it is Bedrock only, but the cape will carry over to that M$ account's Java Edition profile too! Java Edition profiles will get the cape on August 5th, one day after the event ends.

Mojang needs to rapidly address this.

is it not available on iOS? is it not on your app store? and pretty sure bedrock support mac also. cmiiw.
Just checked on their official website. Minecraft bedrock is available on iOS, but yeah MAC only support java edition.

Good point but way more people have access to bedrock than java

As Noxcrew stated, the framework for the server was already there of Bedrock, and you can directly connect from the menu/without having to enter the Server IP with Bedrock.
If they went with Java, they'd have to build the server from the ground up before doing any of the server itself, which would cost a lot of time/effort/money, for a MUCH smaller reach
all I'm hoping is that not all cape events will be bedrock exclusive, because bedrock still isn't available on Mac and Linux

@@manachromeYTthe block color seems too off what it should be. Feels more childish
I will bet you someone will get killed over Minecraft before 2026.
@@AntVenom Wasn't there some guy who almost got bullied into self-game-ending because of that, or am I misremembering details?
I would argue that making more capes only make the minecon ones even more valuable
im still devastated i couldnt afford to go to minecon 2011 :(
hey mysticat
mysticat spotted, commence the mewo
If only Minecraft official TH-cam channel had a video about this I MISSED IT FOR THAT REASON!
At least capes are “earnable” as opposed to locked behind micro-transactions out the wazoo.
For now.
I'd rather they take the FF14 route and be able to buy every exclusive event item a couple months after event so you dont miss out if you cant earn it
I love mc capes, theyre the closest thing we have to cosmetics like knives and gloves in counter-strike
The only bad thing is the lag when jumps. That complicated some puzzles for me cause i live on the other side of the planet. But i did everything and now I'm waiting for my cape.
Yeah the lag kinda killed some of the games (ace race mainly because of how I do player movement while flying)
I weirdly enough remember paying for the no crew standalone version of grid runners
YO HE'S BACK
Hopefully they will keep this trend with minigames/challanges that everybody can try and earn.
The WoW Golden Gnome thing reminds me of how for TF2, Valve used to do the same thing with Saxxy Awards.
Good to hear you again ant!
For the Black Qiraji battle tank don't forget that you also had to be there in sithilus to ring the gong, you also had to have completed the war effort for both factions and collect enough items to complete the before hand quests.
The legendary Minecraft Detective has returned, "Welcome back, my bro.
Great video, Im so glad the MCC cape was something I had to work for and hope they do this for more capes in the future
Bring back the old-school style of minecon
i personally love how theyre making capes more common for several reasons
1. they just look sick in general
2. improving account safety. old minecon capes will always be a hot selling point for account stealers, but the sheer commonness of the new capes makes accounts with them alot less valuable
3. removing elitist culture from minecraft and capes
i feel like all adding new capes to the game is doing is making the older ones more sought after and valuable imo
I’m still rocking the cherry one
thanks for the heads up about the cape, had no idea something like that was happening
I like the community capes they’re doing, but I never cared for the platform cape idea. It makes Minecraft feel more corporate than it already feels to me. I hate seeing brands in games.
6:31 almost thought this was a sponsorship
Fr, I had to check the name of the timestamp 😭
same lol
I like how someone with so many capes still stands with the way newer capes are being released. Nice video btw i agree with your thoughts on the mcci cape ❤
Mojang: Makes capes not rare
Community: NOOOOOO CAPES ARE NOT RARE AND SPECIAL ANYMORE
Mojang: Makes capes rare
Community: NOOOOOO CAPES ARE RARE AND SPECIAL
I just wish they allowed you to edit them in the skin maker smh
people who went to minecon are just salty these days it's easier to get capes now. Basically what I'm saying is people who went to minecons are jealous they had to pay lots of cash, when we got it at our homes (not specific capes, but capes in general)
I'm fine with capes in general being more common as long as it:
1. Requires you to participate in an event, and if you don't, you can never get the cape
2. You have to work to get the cape, like how people who went to physical Minecons(which was very expensive) or help with translating Minecraft in different languages. (Paying money doesn't count for this)
Can't play bedrock edition because I'm on Linux. Screw Microsoft
Same, I had to reboot into Windows to try and get it, but gave up after a while because I found it to be too dull
I having been watching you for over a decade
keep it up
I never cared for capes. Sure, I wanted the recent purple heart cape, but after the claim failed because "the code was already used" it just want's worth the time anymore.
9:45 I like your music choice.
You seem to be a LEMMiNO fan too.
they made MCC, which only has servers on java, host their server on bedrock and force java players to use it for multiple hours and then they're going to force them to wait to get it..
since a few years they abandoned java and made bedrock their priority, java still gets some updates but bedrock is on top sadly.
I kinda wish they started doing this like 7 years ago. As a teenager I would've eaten this up, but now idk if I can be bothered to spend the time to get a cosmetic I know I'll never use, even if it'll never be available again lmao
Minecraft caps now are less and less unique and special tho
More capes for me i guess 🔥
soo glad 2 see an upload from ya
If this trend continues, we might expect seeing accounts with 20 different capes in just 3 years time. And I'm all for it!
Antvenom I have to agree, as more capes get added whenever I see an old Minecon cape I go “Damn!” 🤯❤
The other part of me goes, “I’m old” 😂😂😂
I think I saw a few people on the MCC event with the vanilla cape
@@superNova5837
Yeah I saw vanilla cape, idk how I don’t have it… I had to buy both versions separately 🤣
Ummm Although I did see a few orange creeper capes and was ‘neat’. It is nice seeing the older designs, really cool.
They should add two special capes for players who originally joined Alpha* and Beta! Lil homage to us OG players
Fr
It's been 10 plus years at this point so probably won't happen and it would kind off be impossible since the migration thing kind of screwed with the dates of purchase for all accounts made before it and plus most likely they wouldn't do it because it locks newer players out still a fun idea though
Would feel weird for them to add it today but it'd still be cool
anyone ever tell you you should read audio books ant?
Huh, didn’t know about that last cape. Thanks for spreading the word in time for people to still get it!
One day Bedrock and Java will be the same version but they need to do it correctly
And that reality is that Java will become Bedrock 😔
@@yut8204 yeah so incorrectly ;-;
never. theyre two completely different games on completely different coding launguages. if they were willing to merge the two then they wouldve also made bedrock on par or even better than java in every way.
@@yut8204 yeah, hopefully bedrock eventually gets everything good from Java and goes on the rest of the devices that it’s not in right now. If they don’t merge Java players will be so happy
I like the idea of having more capes avaliable to the public. Not only did many players even join after the minecon events ended, but most couldn't even participate from being too young. The option of getting capes to make your player more unique without breaking the bank to fly somewhere is always appreciated
Hello There Ant!
Appreciate it! :D
A nice thing about this is that now you see more than like 2 capes regularly
saw this 27 seconds after uploaded, ant venom i like being a sigma skibidi from ohio
I’m glad more people are getting access to capes. I hope eventually they make a cape that makes the elytra actually look like wings
I bought minecraft the day after beta 1.8 released, I just turned 6 years old, I had a rough childhood and my parents fought a lot, I found your videos in October of 2011, I instantly was sold, I can’t express in words how much of an inspiration you are to me, I watched your videos to laugh through my tears and still do to this day.
Thank you.
Nice vid, Ant!
i like that all players can use capes. i think that having alot of capes is great for variety and you dont have to worry about capes being devalued as long as they dont bring back old capes
