Best lesson to fix foot drop that I’ve found so far. Thank you so much. I’ve had it since 2015. It’s improved a bit, but I still can’t lift my foot but 15/20% angle

In my early 20s I had a bad fall and ended up compressing L3, 4, and 5. Then came the sciatic pain. I was bedbound for 18 months with intense, unrelenting sciatic pain and could find no comfort in anything. One day I woke up and he pain was just gone, but the problem didn't end there. I've now been walking with foot drop in 18 years. All because of one fall.

I was playing around at work, rolled my ankle pretty good. It was swollen the rest of the day and days after. I never went to the doctor, figured it was a sprain like any other. Ten years later, I'm marching around everywhere so I don't trip lol. You're not alone. Like you said, one slip.

I have added this exercise to my list so I can get better control . it it was due to a fall at home. last year. I still stumble and have foot drag. aand come close to falling. but the brace is a life saver.

14 years ago I had a spinal cord injury resulting in a nerve being severed which of course resulted in foot drop.
It took my consultant 18 months to do an MRI then inform me I should go home as there wasn't anything they could do for me.
I had to work hard to relearn how to walk and run again.....although the run is more a hop skip and a jump.
I learned to cycle and I joined the gym plus practiced stretching etc. I've probably got about 40% use of my foot which is far better than it was. I'll never wear high heels again and I certainly can't wear flats. I do find wearing a small heel (1.5 inch) helps my heel to hit the floor first. I wear a lot of trainers. Hard shoes are out for me.
I find Skechers shoes are ok.....but I'm always on the lookout for more comfort with style.

I've since been fitted with a leg brace but to be honest, it doesn't really help me. Lately I've been fitted with adapted shoe inserts. They help a lot. I went to see my podiatrist for those via my GP.

I slipped in wet grass and hyperextended my knee resulting in foot drop and 4 subsequent surgeries to repair and reconstruct, also one of the surgeries was due to infection. My left foot used to drag and hang to the side. I began having my partner give me deep tissue massages all up and down my leg and foot and ankle and because of the nerve damage it felt like hell.......but over time more feeling came back and I was able to tolerate the deep massaging and touch. I also began incorporating these exercises and also standing on my toe tips holding the wall and now I don't walk with a steppers gait, I walk normal. My foot doesn't hang over and I can almost dorsel flex my left foot up to the same flexion as my right within maybe a half inch, where I used to not be able to dorsel flex whatsoever. My orthopedic surgeon and neurologist were stunned by the progress and recovery of function.

@@bardlemon5635 you got this brother! Listen to me MASSAGE MASSAGE MASSAGE! All up and down your leg especially in the numb tingly parts, and same with foot and ankle. It may feel weird, and painful for a while, DON'T STOP, yell out, cringe, make faces, but let them massage DEEP into that tissue and nerve.......twice a day if you can tolerate. Won't happen overnight but I swear by it. I was fitted for a custom orthotic brace from calf to ankle........I never bothered picking it up, but I don't advise that for others. I was determined I was not going to limp forever and I don't anymore

I have lost strength in my shin muscle to the point that the tendons on my upper foot which pull the toes up, are compensating to help lift the foot, and being over worked to the point of numbness and even pain. When I walk barefoot or in sandals my toes all visibly lift and the tendons tighten as I lift that foot. I am going to do the shin strengthening and calf stretching, but is there anything about that symptom that suggests anything else is necessary? Thanks if you can answer, great channel!

I recently had a fall incident and hurt my right SI joint. Simultaneously my right leg got numb from knee down and had foot drop. I am still recovering. The doctors have not been able to identify the cause of numbness and foot drop as there were 2 disk ruptures too but nothing major. Please suggest what could be the cause and how can i help myself get better faster.

I had a laminectomy with fusion 33 yrs ago and the pain at least doubled, got my 1st pain pump 27 yrs and blew past morphine and straight to a very healthy dose of dilaudid where I remained till 9 mths ago when finally got neuro surgery and a cage along with foot drop in my left foot.i don’t think it’s more than about 50% but very exhausting to walk.both my shoulders are separated, both knee’s shot and my left hip is half way to Florida.I’ll be on strong pain meds the remainder of my life which cause severe adeama everywhere so you might imagine I’m running a bit thin on patience.its tiring just getting from here to there,is there something simple, shoe inserts or something that would do anything.i don’t have it left in me to be strong up a bunch of apparatus all the time,it’s hell just getting my shoes and socks on. Working hard on coming down on pain meds, talking with the dr about making the next big jump down to morphine with hopes of lessening the adeama,in theory anyway.thanks for what you do

My feet became suddenly paralyzed two weeks ago. Doctors haven’t figured it out. MRIs, spinal tap, bloodwork. I have a previous back injury, but was never paralyzed when I broke it. Had the hardware taken out a year and a half ago with no problems. Once second to the next, my feet were paralyzed. I’m here so I can get back on my feet again and go back to my life again. So I basically have bilateral foot drop. That’s my only diagnosis.

Back in October 2021, I had a lumbar puncture to determine if I had West Nile Virus. I did. Long story short, I was in excruciating pain for weeks afterwards. Extreme weakness in my right led. Months later, the weakness has subsided by about 40% in the leg. However, I am left with an atrophied calf muscle and a very weak foot and swollen ankle. Nothing in connection to West Nile would have done this. I did have meningitis and encephalitis as well. I can go up on my toes with my left foot but not my right. I can cross my toes on my left but no longer on my right. I have to lift my right leg each time I take a step. My pain management doctor believes the nerve was damaged during the lumbar puncture. Would you be inclined to agree with him?

    • @shellwirtful
      @shellwirtful 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Lumbar puncture is used for MS as well. I have MS but never had a puncture but I’ve read a lot about them being too invasive and many people reject them.

Malissa Hayden was it a chiropractor that the doctor recommended or was it a chiropractor that was like the joint? Because I’ve gone to a chiropractor from The Joint before and they didn’t do anything.. since it was like a 5 minute crack and it didn’t do anything. And thank you for replying 🤗

May be usefully to you guys over the pond any help to find videos please reply si I can help disabled foot drop motorbike guys
