I find it helpful to watch videos with people that actually HAVE dropped foot. It a neurological condition dude. It's not a case of "out of shape," being too lazy or not working out the foot. It's hard to really imagine not being able to pull up the top of your foot until it actually happens to you.
90degree foot drop SPLINT MUST BE USED IN THE NIGHT, WHILE ASLEEP..OR ELSE, THE FOOT DROP IS GOING TO GET WORSE. THE ABOVE MENTIONED SPLINT MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES BY THE AFFECTED PERSON ON THE AFFECTED SIDE. ONLY DURING FOOT ,DORSIFLEXION EXERCISES, THE SPLINT CAN BE REMOVED. THE PATIENT COULD USE A THERABAND ,TO PULL UP THE TOES, IN DORSIFLEXION ,EVEN IN SITTING POSITION AGAINST GRAVITY......THIS POSITION IS GOOD FOR QUICK RECOVERY.
I Just came across your channel and I have already become a subscriber, your approach to rehabbing drop foot is encouraging to say the least, I have been dealing with foot drop for about six years now and it's as problematic as my actual MS, I look forward to watching the follow up to this presentation.
This is a year old, but the idea is that when you pull your foot up and release the band, you need to use your muscles to keep your foot in that position for ten seconds, which should strengthen the muscle over time, allowing you to eventually regain upward movement of your foot.
Hi Dr. Nathan. My aunt got her first stroke attack in Oct'22. Her right arm, hand and fingers are flaccid. She can curl up her fingers (not so well, but she can) by using her shoulder strength, what do I need to do more to help her everyday? Whenever she's panic, her hand becomes stiff for a moment. I can see there’s a gap within her shoulder and arm. How to increase her hands ability? Thank you so much Dr. Nathan!
You are welcome. But i am an OT. Cant call myself a doctor. 😬 but for the shoulder, do this: th-cam.com/video/87paDgIi0YU/w-d-xo.html And for the arm: th-cam.com/video/wMrlkKvzAJ0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for your simple at home exercise I have a combination drop foot with a pop back knee and I might have a drop hip all this is related to MS I'm interested for exercising with a pop back knee can you help me
Very useful video. Can't say thank you more than enough.More power to you. I do have a question. I have a foot drop for a year now but I still go out and play golf walking, walk the trails and I exercise quite a bit focusing on my core. I also climb the stairs almost daily for 30 minutes and finished 80 flghts (8 steps per flight). Is this bad for my foot drop problem?
If i don't do this, then I am an ungrateful person... Last year(February 2023) had a minor accident that causes my foot drop(left leg) i did all of this, this year(August)the Dr was like how come? because its 95% healed?? Thank you so much for posting this, thank you very much, i really appreciate ❤❤❤
Please how do I go with this my issue, last year July 2nd I had a fatal accident that affected my left hip leg,my hip shifted and that is what caused my foot drop. Please I need help. Thanks Kennedy frm nigeria.
Quick question what if you having neurological issues with the leg and your foot is always on the balls of feet, how do you improve your balance? Its like you are walking flat foot and the other foot is on your toes.
Thank you. I have MS and right foot drop. How many sets and repetitions also is this to be done every day. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺. Great information in your video and instruction
if you have MS, you might not have a true foot drop. you might have a spastic leg. try this instead: th-cam.com/video/zE77HG4iLb0/w-d-xo.html do them twice a day to start with
@@SKILLSANDWELLNESS I took when I was still young. And I even had operations .they could tell me to do exercise with the leg but it did not work since I didn't know exactly how to do it.I could not do any response in the muscles.but now I can feel it.and the more I do it is responding. Just what I feel they are too weak to pul up.and also experience much play in joint with a big gup.which I think is due to muscle reluctance.
Thank you much! Had a stroke due to blood clot on the right side of my brain. Right foot okay and toes but left foot and toes does not flex normally. I have been thinking about methods of circulation. I do feel if I bup my left toes or foot. Just that toes will not flex or bend normally.
Thanks a bunch, a few exercise from U, I still practise every day sometime feel boring but I have to be dicipline to get better day to day progress❤️👍😁
I can treat my foot drop if I just cut off both of my feet. Cmt disease in the Canadian health care system: you can still walk so I’m not doing surgery on you.
