    I'm going to make the case for why the 757 is one of the best places to live in the U.S.
    1.) Cost of living is average (not even close to as high as Northern Virginia/DC)
    2.) It only takes 2 1/2 hours to get to DC and 1 hour to get to Richmond (depending on what part you're in)
    3.) There are 7 cities that offer something a little different all in driving distance
    4.) Busch Gardens and Water Country in Williamsburg
    5.) Plenty of beaches
    6.) Only a few hours drive west to some great mountain views
    7.) Most of the cities in Hampton Roads are continuing to grow and offer more
    More higher paying jobs and entertainment (sports, nightlife) could be better but it's getting there.

    • @countryrah
      @countryrah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 7 cities has a lot of potential for sure. A couple black colleges, low cost of living and military jobs. However, for black people I would say that the towns dont have much black cultural events compared to other major cities like DC, Atlanta or Charlotte. We need more of that for more affluent blacks to flock there. Lets not forget the racism expressed in VA Beach.

    • @757CitiesReppa
      @757CitiesReppa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We call it 7 Cities because those are the main cities. This term came from the 90’s era and hip hop/the streets/the people…Williamsburg and Poquoson weren’t places Blackfolks thought that highly of, and they weren’t known for reppin. But they are apart of “Hampton Roads” which is the “formal” literal name of the metro. 7-5..7 Cities is a mentality and cultural identity …it came from us …

    Stay out of Portsmouth, Virginia. It is a large African-American community but there is nothing much to do here. There are some good neighbors but not many. If you're a person who wants and desire greater things in life don't move here. I was born and raised in Portsmouth. Will move somewhere else as soon as I can. Back in the day Ptown used to be the bomb! A lot of African Americans have lost or relocated their businesses. Some parts of Chesapeake and Suffolk are very nice. Hampton is also but if you are considering moving to Virginia please check out the area really good. It's 2021 and there are still narrow minded & racist people. Purchasing a house is a big investment and relocating is work. You want to be in a place that you're able to live and grow.

    The concept that the City of Alexandria is different from Fairfax County is a source of confusion for many. The zip code, 22311, that you highlight in the video had an Alexandria, VA mailing address but is in Fairfax County. The pictures that you show are mostly of 22314 which is in the City of Alexandria, an independent city that is next to Fairfax County. Fairfax County has one million people. The City of Alexandria has around a 160,000 residents.
    Both Alexandria city and Fairfax County are diverse. Alexandria City, especially Old Town Alexandria which was depicted in the video have been gentrified and many black people have been displaced or have chosen to leave. There is a small black middle class that remains in the City. Everyone says they're from Alexandria but if you ask most people in what jurisdiction they pay their property tax or car tax they will state Fairfax County.

      Did you read the title of the video? Norfolk doesn’t have the most Blackfolks either. Hampton Roads is the 4th Blackest metro, but not Norfolk by itself.

      It is by zip code. So, a city can have multiple zip codes on the list.
      I’m still waiting on a NY State list. Given the criteria, zip codes 13224(Syracuse), 11510(Baldwin), 11575(Roosevelt), 11553(Uniondale), 11003(Elmont), 11580(Valley Stream), 11422(Rosedale, Queens), 11413(Springfield Gardens, Queens), 11411(Cambria Heights, Queens), 11429(Queens Village, Queens), 11412(St. Albany, Queens), 11436(Jamaica, Queens), 11798(Wyandanch, inc. 6 figure Wheatley Heights), 11701(Amityville), 11234(Flatlands, Brooklyn), 11238(Prospect Hts./Clinton Hill, Brooklyn), 10553(Mount Vernon), 10523(Elmsford)...I’ll stop there, but there are possibly others that fit or come close either way(black percentage and/or income) that could be listed as well.
      Keep in mind that Upstate NY cost of living is more in line with the popular Southern states or Midwest in overall cost of living. So, it isn’t expensive like NYC and the surrounding area. That 13224 zip code in Syracuse(East Side/a portion of DeWitt) is a sleeper in terms of income and educational attainment.

    I live in the 757,area of Va. but originally from ATLANTA, GA . I have been living here for 19 years, now I agree, Chesapeake is a good place 2 live for blacks, I have friends that live in Chesapeake, good neighborhoods, great schools. I see a lot of people talking bad about Portsmouth, but I like P TOWN, it not that bed. some neighborhoods are bed, but not all of PTOWN are bed. IAM not surprise that Norfolk are not up here. Because It is a poor black city, most blacks that live in Norfolk live below the poverty level. poor schools, this a fact, if you have money, you are not going to live in Norfolk.
