Just delicious. You can tell they're both having such a wonderful time. Since Bob died, I read his book about his long career in comedy and acting, and he said he enjoyed himself so many times being on Dean's show. He said Dean never rehearsed at all and would just come in, cold, and do the show; it was evidently in his contract. He said they'd never make it through a skit without cracking each other up. God rest them both. They'll be in our hearts forever.
This was great to stumble upon. I watched the Dean Martin show for years but I never saw this one. Nobody did this kind of thing better than Bob Newhart.
Too true. Although, Dean could brilliantly ad lib when the occasion demanded it, as well! You could see from Bob's facial expressions (poorly suppressed laughter) that he hadn't expected Dean to come out in elderly spinster drag. Let alone, simulate crying! 🤣
Newhart did a terrific job writing in a real person. Wow! Deano was great. we kinda forget how talented he was as he was surrounded by Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis, and Sinatra 😋 he was really good!! his singing style was so his own (Chaz Palminteri used his sons in “The Bronx Tale” - it easily a perfect song for Sonny. what a film that was!) 🎭🎬
Andy Northall He did several sketches with Dean on the show, but to my mind the funniest was the toupee skit where Dean couldn’t stop laughing all the way through. At one point Bob asked him if he was sure he worked with Jerry, to which he replied; “Yeah, but our stuff wasn’t this funny!!”
Bob may be gone but he left behind some of the funniest shows and sketches and bits like this he will never be gone. Imagine how different this skit would have been if Foster Brooks was the student.
I love how Dean's eyes were firmly closed while supposedly driving. On a side note, I was often tempted to close mine just as firmly when riding in a car driven by my aunt. Decided I would rather keep them open so I'd know I was about to die. 😥
I prefer to watch Bob do it alone; you can't take your eyes off Bob looking back and forth gives me mal à la tet! I adore Dean but when Bob is alone on the stage you totally trip out on his adorable and weird world view!
We need some laughs right now...instead of those info--less chattering forums ...current affairs and gloomy predictions...And whilst Mr Kim who is a dangerous excuse for comedy rattles his rickets..
one of my former students asked us one day "what would make you guys want to drive around town with us inexperienced high school kids"...? well, I said; "Because we enjoy living a life filled with danger and intrigue". Lol's

Fantastic comedian I’m 26 and I’ve watched this years ago, he will be forever missed.
Amen! 😐
Bob’s comedy LPs are legendary !!

Always loved this skit. But even better with dean martin.
Bob Newhart was just the best!!!
What I remember about Dean Martin's show was how easily Dean Martin cracked up. The sketches were gold!
Pure brilliance! RIP Bob Newhart.
Bob Newhart = Genius.

RIP Bob Newhart.
any number with these two together is my favourite
BOB NEWHART, 94,
Comedy Genius+Giant Forever!
Dean here looks like Johnny Carson Aunt Blabby or Jonathan Winters old lady character.
Hilarious stuff.

Miss these two. ...good times. ....
How quickly Dean corpse such a funny sketch just think driving instructors ever day poor souls Bob is just brilliant
Excellent! I'd never seen Newhart act out one of his sketches with another comic, but it really works.

Newhart's droll, easy style was amazing to watch.
Dean made a convincing 👵 grandmother...my own mother lived past 90 years old but never learned to ride a bike or drive a car.
Dean and Bob, lots of talent there!
oh my she looks like Norman Bates mom poor Mrs Dean Webb
Bob may be gone but he left behind some of the funniest shows and sketches and bits like this he will never be gone.
Imagine how different this skit would have been if Foster Brooks was the student.
This was so funny ahahah.Dean and Bob were really great together.
Outstanding comedy!! Miss these two!!
As of this moment, Bob is still with us.
Clean and funny as they come. Not one foul word. Few today carry this banner, but there are a few worthy to give some good belly laughs.
Dean Martin a legend.
Dean Martin is DYING to Laugh LOL
Check out his “STOP IT” from MadTV.
Watched this after taking my driving lesson, I thankfully was not at any point on someone's lawn
I agree with Nancy Lawson. This is when comedians were, and still are hilarious.
I like this skit Dean is playing Ms. Webb. As a car instructor.Bob is the instructor. Frank Dexter.
Two very funny men, dynamite together!
Brilliant stuff.
I just saw Bob Newhart talking about this on Craig Ferguson finally I know what they are talking about lol
I love how Dean's eyes were firmly closed while supposedly driving.

94 AÑOS.
Brilliantly funny. Bob was trying so hard not to laugh at times too. True he did chuckle but around 1:10 you can see he's holding it back
regardless which TV series Bob was in .. or the things I've seen of him on stage .. he was GREAT. He made laugh then, up to today, fantastic comedian!
Technically perfect sketch - just like all of Bob Newhart material.
RIP Dino and Bob.
Amazing
Dean Martin is trying so hard not to laugh.
He’s also sloshed.
This is fantastic! :-)
watch Newhart and Rickles together...you will die laughing!
I think working with Jerry finally rubbed off on him XD This made me laugh so hard I fell on the floor
What is it have to do with Jerry!?
Sheer genius 😂
Too bad they didn't have Foster Brooks play the old lady driver. i'm laughing just thinking about it.
shakakaun1 oh Johathan winters all those men would be so funny
Absolutely!
Should’ve been Maude Fickett (Johnathan winters). I think that’s his costume! 🤣🤣
Happy Ninety-third Birthday to this Deadpan GoofBall,☺️😊😌😊😊😊☺️☺️😌😊☺️😊🐹

dean in that getup is reminiscent of tony perkins' "mrs. bates"
Looks more like Johnathan Winters old lady character. 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎✌🏼
Remember this 😅😅
Isn't there a painting named Grandma Whistler? Dean looks like her.
classic great comedy
This is when comedians were funny!!
And never found it necessary to use filthy language.
Came from geri27
How could 1 'thumbs down' to 'dis'?!
Probably someone who hurt themself laughing. ☺
Dean looks so cute as a woman❤😂
forgot how funny this guy was
Classic
I thought i was going to watch The Twilight Zone. Although Dean Martin was a good sport.
I know this is a comedy sketch but it is a worrying reality.
Check out how big Dino's Italian ham fists are compared to Bob's.
We need some laughs right now...instead of those info--less chattering forums ...current affairs and gloomy predictions...And whilst Mr Kim who is a dangerous excuse for comedy rattles his rickets..
Wouldn't be allowed now, offensive to old women drivers. Did I just say "old women" damn!
Classic :)
Bob's bits were much funnier when he did them solo.
😂😂😂😂😂
Inane
😂😂😂
She's driving a stick, so I'll give her some slack. 🐿🐿🐿
Women are driving instructors too! I did that last summer😁 We are better drivers🙄🤪
🤣😂🤣
Dean Martin is so drunk
Well that was as funny as shiiting yourself on your wedding day... There is nothing as unfunny as forced laughter...
one of my former students asked us one day "what would make you guys want to drive around town with us inexperienced high school kids"...? well, I said; "Because we enjoy living a life filled with danger and intrigue". Lol's
