This is very helpful. I have a chandelier that I want to move a few inches. Figured it would be really complicated, so I just bought a swag hook. Now I'm going to give this a try instead.

Really nice video, watched a few an yours was the best. I'm wanting to hang a new chandelier where no other light has been and run the wiring to the light switch on the wall, one of the switches goes to existing ceiling fan, the other switch has nothing going to it, that's the one I want to wire too. Your video helped with showing what to do with the ceiling an inside the attic.

Hello, did you cut the hole out without going into attic to check if there isn't anything in the way? I would like to skip that step as well but wondering why the light wasn't put in the middle of the kitchen ceiling in the first place

Not clear how to choose which wires from ceiling to attach to lighting wires since they are all the same color.

If both wires from the ceiling are the same color, put a wire nut on both ceiling wires, then turn the power back on and use a non-contact voltage tester to check which wire has power.
When trying to figure out which wire is which on a 2 wire ceiling light or lamp cord, check the insulation; the neutral/common side will either have a white stripe or ribbing texture and the hot side will be smooth. If the insulation is smooth on both sides, then check the color of the wires inside; the brass or copper wire will be your hot and the silver or pewter wire will be the neutral.

You forgot to attach the electrical box to the overhead bracket with hardware (nuts). According to the video, nothing is holding up the box.
