    Great video, exactly what I was looking for! I especially appreciated the detailed closeup shots. After an hour of trying to understand the direction on "what comes first" with the nuts and bolts, I gave up. While in bed, I decided to look for at som videos on hanging chandeliers. Your video was the first one I opened. It's so clear, I got out of bed and was able to put it together in less than 3 minutes. Thanks a bunch!!

    Great video, good method, much better than the instructions that came with my lamp. As stated below, make sure you get the right lamp wires to the black and white lines in the house. For mine, the smooth wire with writing connects to black, the rigid/square wire connects to white.

    Thank you so much for this video. It was not until I viewed your video that I figured out what was wrong with the wiring in my chandelier. The wiring instructions that came with it (and how I wired it initially) were flat out wrong!! Thanks again:)

    I noticed that before you connected the ground wire that you did not have the chandelier wires going up through the nipple. You corrected that before you attached the ground wire. In the first scenario the canopy would not have gone on because the wires were in the way. This helped me because before this I was connected the wires first and then had a twisted mess.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. Quick question. We did all your steps but our chandelier is crooked a bit. Do you know how we could fix that ?

    • @walsh5238
      @walsh5238 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You probably need to let one of the screws come down a bit by unscrewing it some. Use a small level to see things are evening out. You’ll want to Do this from the ceiling mounting plate.
      *FYI - When working with drywall in the ceiling, things kind of Eban and flow up there. It’s not always even from the start . Houses settle and we have to work around that.
      So you can modify one screw by tightened it in further. If the level is still showing there’s an issue, adjust again and or take a peek at the other screw. It also may be in need to be loosened or tightened to balance out the overall project better.
      Sorry if that doesn’t sound clear. I wish I could send you a screenshot of what I’m Speaking of.
      Maybe Google: how to fix a crooked chandelier. As they’ll likely have images that will walk you through it.
      Good luck!

    I have two sets of wires coming out of the electrical box on the ceiling (both positive and negative). Is it okay if I join the two hot wires from the electrical box to the wire from the chandelier? Then, could I join the two negatives form the electrical box to the negative from my chandelier? Thanks.

    It is important to wire correctly. You can wire this backwards and it will still work however you may get a shock later when changing bulbs or cleaning lamp. If you have a lamp with two wires with the same color, usually the neutral wire will have writing on it or a ridge or notches. Always be careful when working with electrical wiring. Otherwise it was a great video.

    Can you adjust the length of the chain?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you need to use pliers to open the chain links and also shorten the length of the cable.

    • @cubnation
      @cubnation 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      dial2fast Thanks so much! I'm thinking the "cable" means the electrical wiring? I'm still not sure if I want to do it myself yet. Your video helps show so many things I didn't know. I do know to turn the breaker off before you do anything. I like the way you showed how to open the links. I have put lights in before but not a chandelier.

    If the fixture wires were the same color, how did you know which was for the black/white connections? I have yet to find a TH-cam video on how to properly DIY wiring. Thumbs down AGAIN!

    • @unclejalapeno171

      I just replaced my kitchen chandelier, both wires from the fixture were black. The wire that connects to the white wire Is ribbed. The wire that connects to the black wire is smooth.
