Popcorn is a family favorite in our house - and this is my favorite way to make it! It's super easy and way tastier than microwave popcorn. Enjoy it! XO Dani

My mom always prepared our popcorn this way and we loved it! The only difference was that once the popping started she kept shaking the pot until the popping was completely done to keep the kernels from burning.

What? There’s a technique to this? I usually left the lid off and my kids and I ran like crazy folk as popcorn shot off into every direction! 😂
In all seriousness, Dani, several of your recipes are in my cookbook! Thanks for being humble. Please, don’t change, no matter how unruly the world gets! Bless you my sister from another mister!

This is the method I grew up with so glad you are sharing it- at times for small batches we also used a cast iron skillet used with a metal lid. Thank you for taking the time to explain some of the “nuances” - when I left home I had a dedicated pot for popcorn as I didn’t always pay enough attention to the temp. so it would sizzle a bit and affect the surface. Nowadays I use an air popper and drizzle with a tad of jalapeño infused olive oil and sprinkle of salt. Thanks for your wonderful and well described recipes.

Hey, Dani! I’ve made popcorn on the stove as well until I discovered the silicone popcorn maker for the microwave. This also uses regular popcorn kernels, but no oil. I will say that I have had differing success with this tool in different microwave ovens, but have figured out the right combination with my current microwave. Whatever method, stovetop or silicone popper, I think it’s better than prepackaged microwave popcorn and much more economical!

Thank you for this. I have used an air popper for years. My mom used to have a dedicated pan to pop popcorn on the stove. What brand pots and pans do you use? I never thought of putting seasoning in the oil before popping the corn. I just purchased a microwave and have one of those silicone poppers that I am going to give a shot today. Again, thank you for this video!!

Salt Protip: use fine salt (the size you get from a handgrinder - almost like flour) it sticks perfectly and evenly and there won't be any salty leftover in the bottom. Also no need to put it in from start. PS. If you don't have a grinder, just use a mortar and pestle. This is the way they do it at cinemas.

When I was little, many years ago, we would pop a big pot of corn, fold over the top edge of a large paper bag and fill it full. Throw all the couch cushions on the floor and watch a movie. Usually western or the occasional Godzilla! It tastes so much better this way

Back when I used to drink, I remember getting drunk one night, making popcorn on the stove, and falling asleep on accident. I think the fire alarm woke me up, but it wasn't right away.
When I woke, all due to the burnt popcorn on the stove, you would have thought the whole house was on fire. I had to get to the basement, just to think about what to do. I had to duck down when upstairs due to so much smoke. And when I opened the windows, it was huge streams of smoke pouring out. This was due to a little pan of popcorn on the stove.
I took the pan outside, let it burn out, and that was the end of the problem. It looked like burning coals in a grill.
I only say it as a public service announcement, to be careful with burning popcorn. It generates so much smoke, you may be shocked.

Shape of that pot is wok; no way every kernel pops without any skin or duds; needs a lot of oil too. Moisture on glass lid= soggy popcorn. By time clean up stove, wash greasy pot, stovetop & bowls U’ve paid more in water bills & time than microwave natural popcorn. I’ve cooked stovetop until the cleanup time & $$ was not worth it
