Can't wait for the Chaotic Century vid. That series was WAY cooler than New Century. I remember the "Final Four" episodes were a whole event on Toonami.
Man, I remember loving Zoids, and then promptly forgetting about them once they were off the air lol. Your work gives an amazing dose of nostalgia but also puts in work to show what made it into that nugget of memory in our brains! Thanks for all the hard work you do.
@@zerokura it does but New Century Zero was broadcasted in the west before Chaotic Century dispite the order actually being in reverse. It's one of those funny conundrums.
This is perfect timing for me. My boyfriend has been getting nostalgic for ZOIDS and talking about having a night where we just marathon Chaotic Century. (He just really likes giant robots, especially ones that look like animals. Beast Wars is his favorite Transformers series.)
I know your probably joking on some of this however I'll correct a few things. Berserk Fury is strong because much like Liger Zero it has a will of it's own that combined with it's pilot make it hard to beat. Second, the Zoid Brad stole was not a wolf, it was a fox specifically the Shadow Fox. And third I think Jamies thing of going from a wimp to a badass it's probably a split personality. As for the battles, ye they mostly just reuse models for some scenes to show the characters winning,
I found that to be a letdown for Bit and Jack's last fight. The previous fight, Bit can't touch Jack, now they are evenly matched in a fight that shamelessly reuses the animation from their first fight.
Haha ya i remember that he called himself the wild egal or something.also it might of been season 2 but i loved that episode when a judge kicks the robo ass of a dark judge just wrestle moves dunking that dark judge was great lol.
Oh it is a let out and very sad that they just reuse scene a lot when it could have been epic. There's plenty of zoids they could use, like some air ones. We never see anyone besides the Backdraft group use flying zoids.
@@swordkingx4874 We did see Jamie use flying Zoids. But given the nature of the series it's hard to animate a fight with the Blitz Team's ground based Zoids against flying ones. Especially since the Liger Zero can't do much against them.
@@dragonstormx Not exactly true. Liger has the perfect armour for air based enemies. The Panzer armour. Plus Lena's Gunsniper with all it's guns could help with the same thing. And what I mean is was there ever a battle against other air zoids besides the backdraft ones?
So Jamie with his split personality while flying is literally the precursor to Allelujah Haptism from Gundam 00. Allelujah and Bit Cloud have the same English voice actor.
@@methodedge2484 Helps that Ocean Group dubbed both series. Bit Cloud -- Allelujah Haptism (Richard Ian Cox) Brad -- Tieria Erde (Sam Vincent) Leena Toros and the Tasker Sisters -- Lousie Halevy (Kelly Sheridan) Harry Champ -- Setsuna F. Seiei (Brad Swaile) Mary Champ -- Sumeragi Lee Noriega (Lisa Ann Beley) And those are just the ones I can name by memory. In addition, LOTS of these guys have been in other Gundam dubs. Jack Sisco is Zechs Merquise, Naomi Flugel is Lucrezia Noin, Brad's also the Ocean Group voice for Amuro Ray (Van's VA from Chaotic Century took over for Amuro in Zeta Gundam because there were union issues going on when Zeta was dubbed, and you'll hear a LOT of the Chaotic Century people in Zeta) and is the voice for Quatre Winner, Leon Toros voiced Chang Wufei. Even Scott McNeil gets in the fun as the Backdraft lieutenant Polta (the one with the pointy shades), also voicing Duo Maxwell and Gym Gingham (Turn A, when the character shows up in video games).
I’ve still got my Liger Zero toy from way back in the day, took forever to put together, used to play with it all the time, now it’s on my desk at work. Good times
I still have my liger zero Jäger toy on my nightstand, I played with it so much as a kid, that sadly the back right leg can loose. But now it sits on my stand in honor of my childhood
I had a Berserk Fury which I loved, but the armour pieces wouldn't stay in the slots and often fell out and disappeared, and the batteries rotted inside the console, making it basically an unmoveable model. Still cool but I don't have it any more. I should look into the new Zoids releases.
Dude, I stan you. You hit me with the nostalgia like no one else. U talk about so many of the cartoons/games I enjoyed when I was younger, some stuff you even remind me about that I almost forgot. All those random anime/animeesc shows I watched on Toonami or on Saturday mornings. I loved the Zach Bell video, and Maplestory (I was addicted in middle school, true story), Fighting Foodons, etc. and now ZOIDS. I loved this show because it was like Gundam but with animals which I do think makes it cooler.
Oh man, Zatch Bell and Zoids mentioned in one place. I don't think my nostalgia can take much more 😂 still love them both. I wish the new show maintained the maturity of the older Zoids series
Zoids was my first introduction to Mech anime and was what Transformers was to a lot of other kids at the time (I didn't experience Transformers until much later): Giant robots fighting each other. Zoids has always been a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand it's first couple of seasons were really, really good. The ones that followed though unfortunately didn't deliver. I don;'t know how the newest show is as I haven;t watched it yet but I've heard it's good. I bought a bunch of the Zoids growing up which you made with the kits they provided. Personal favourite Zoid was the Berserk Fury (still is to this day). New century Zero is definately a fun show. It's episodic and doesn't have any big overarching story. Characters are not deep and that's okay, they don't need to be. The dub which I grew up with is really good. The battles are what carry the show and they do a good job. The music meanwhile are all bangers. Too bad we never got a season 2 of NCZ after they won the Royal Cup. The ending was nice but lacking (i.e. Backdraft Group get held at literal gunpoint and basically surrender, no one gets arrested or ends up in prison in spite of the fact that they had literally committed acts of terrorism throughout the show short of murder). The final battle though was epic. Chaotic Force/Guardian Century was what I consider the better season(s) of Zoids. It tells a really good story and the characters are much better written.
I loved how feelgood this show was. Like even the villains in general weren't crazy evil and had a ton of comic relief. Stakes were never crazy high. Also it has "a boy and his dog" vibes. Just such a fun little grill n chill show.
Same, my older brother and I played it for hours. I would get so mad at him because he would always shoot me from far away with Velociraptor-type Gun Sniper Zoid. I couldn't do much because I was always a Zoid with short ranged weapons. Eventually, we would both be snipers and play hide and go shoot.
@@rockinrootbeer1795 my older brother always loved play gojulas giga and I would play as one of the ligers and he would just destroy me. But gosh it was so much fun. I wish it would get a re-release or a game similar

@@pauloreimer1684 Yes, but also no. I know more people who like(d) Power Rangers than Digimon. The rivalry with Pokemon put it at a slight disadvantage. But I do see your point, he could still do it anyway.
You’ll enjoy Chaotic Century in terms of character skill progression. It is a Huge part of main character Van’s development. Makes for a really refreshing final arc of the series too in my opinion.
I loved zoids growing up but no one I knew ever saw it so had no one talk to it about and always thought the second season would have been an amazing game buying and upgrading zoids moving through leagues and online play would be super fun.
I remember loving this show as a kid, I was a fully addicted to anything mecha. Once Toonami debuted Zoids New Century I could've mainlined it into my veins if it was possible!
@@wilt3051 I mean we have every right to dominate the model kit section. It's what saved the series and turned it into a franchise. If it wasn't for model kits of the original series, gundam wouldn't exist past the original show.
Zoids is better than Gundam, all the Gundam's look the same. There are just basically two types of them. A giant walking cyclops garbage can and then the same human shape over and over again with a new coat of paint. And then Gundam seed which ripped off Zoids with the Baku or whatever the fuck it was called.
Before i even watch i need to say. ZOID WAS LEGENDARY. At that time we did not have any other "Mech" base anime other than gundam, and mech lions or cats look sick!!. The GameCube game was black luster but any fan of the show as a kid prob thought it was 10/10. There was big opened maps and you and your buddy play with all the different zoids, you can buy new zoids that have different abilities. one of my fav games on the GameCube. As per the show. For early SGI back in the days, i loved it. thank you for making this video. i thought this show got left in the dust.
Before ‘Eureka 7’, I found that Zoids ‘Chaotic century’ and ‘Guardian force’ is nice military sci-fi melodramas which was actually a bit more comprehensible for kids in contrast to how dense Gundam series like ‘Wing’ and ‘Seed’ were for me at the time
As a big fan of Zoids growing up that lost my collection when I moved to Canada from Asia, I wish they reissue ALL the older ones so I can get them again. The aftermarket prices for pre-built and sometimes missing parts older ones are insane, much more for ones that are found still unbuilt and in box. I do have the new Liger from the new series I got a few years ago that's displayed on my shelf, but it doesn't have the same feeling as the 80's to early 2000's Zoids in terms of presence.
I loved the different zoids series i got to see (new century zero, chaotic century, and fuzors) sad that we haven't had a new game added in a while. Eventually gonna get model kits of liger zero, shadow fox, berzerk fury, and König wolf if i can find it
I applaud my younger self for tolerating 6am airing shows, else VR Troopers or Zoids: Chaotic Century would've been missed over. Got a good amount of Chaotic to remember it, though New Century holds the most nostalgia for me. Additionally: I saw the Leena connection no different than Harry Potter/Snape. They felt a weird obligation to parent just by knowing that kid's parent so well. You're also not a fan of stock animation, which is funny you got through Digimon which was way worse with this.
One particular scene with Bit in I think episode 2 is probably one of my favorite anime scenes right alongside the opening of episode one of Trigun where Vash survives a hail of bullets by apparent sheer luck. In the aforementioned scene, Bit is carrying a gigantic pipe through a bar for some reason and while walking past a pair of girls who are being bothered by some creep. He accidentally drops something else he's holding and bends down to pick it up, accidentally knocking the creep upside the head and a series of hilarious accidental blows occur, leading to his apparent victory in a fight he didn't realize he was in, accidentally defending the honor of the two girls and walking away. XD It was hilarious and kinda awesome how it played out.
Oh Leena, you were so silly. And I actually have fond memories of sniper girl, even if I knew she wasn't really going to do anything. She was honest with herself and never really complained. As for episodes there was one episode where the gang were being haunted and I remember being quite afraid.
KarmaSpaz12 ahhh that episode with the zoid that had the chainsaw as it's pilot was looking for his missing daughter who died in a snowstorm I believe and both the little girls ghost and the ghost of the chainsaw zoid still hunt the area. I believe that is how the story went
Full on Shaved billiam = cutest and most hot billiam ever Bearded billiam = most chill and wise looking billiam Mustached billiam = i have a new nightmare
i miss my zoids models i had a command wolf, zabat, zaberfang, Liger Zero X. i had a few others too. wish i had got something like a gun sniper or a rev raptor. i really want to get back in to that.
I owned the second VHS of this. I legit watched them constantly. It ruined the dub for Deathnote because the voiceactor for Light is the same as Harry's.
Zoids Legacy my dude that game was the shit back then every zoid mc like van and bit as playable characters even ones from other games. And the amount of zoids in that game was staggering even ones I didn't know about it was honestly pretty dope.
I play my emulator rom of it every now and than its kind of hard to go back since i dont play on my laptop much and its a rpg so forgetting what to do and do a few turn base fights kind of drain my intrested in it but if you want a fever dream that people probably dont know their the gundam rpg on the ps2 where you can customize your own gundam and fight gundam to get parts and weapons from them you have a party of 3 i think it was and can gain skills.
Gundam is huuuuge in the anime community and Japan in general. I'm surprised and pleasantly so that he did something on Zoids first. I really need to look into tracking down all of the Zoids series again...
Zoids changes size all the time in anime, sometime a common zoid is smaller than it should be ; another time a ultra-rare zoid is a lot bigger then their spec in toylines , just because they need a BIG FINAL BOSS. tho the size is not the worst thing u can find, last season (zoid wild) we have PPLS JUST RIDING ON THEIR ZOIDS WITHOUT COCKPIT LIKE A HORSE. at least Zoids Wild Zero has a cockpit
thats because in zoids wild those zoids landed on earth and have basically taken over, the larger zoids couldnt make the journey so only the xs zoids showed up. now in zoids wild zero we've got small and medium zoids popping up (same size as liger basically)
I kinda like the New Century we got first but I loved Chaotic Century. I remember it use to come on early in the morning before I went to school and I use to go to school hype af after watching it.
It is interesting to see a lot of people remember the series, but many don't know that the model kits were released not only along side the anime series, but also back in the mid 80's and again in the early to mid 90's. I used to collect different kinds of robotic toys in the late 90's and one of my friend gave me a mech-griffin from the mid 90's line that was later re-released with the anime and we found out were it was actually from because he had no idea at the time.
There's some things that I want to mention: The composer from the series is Kow Otani, the same from Gundam Wing and Shadow of the Colossus. In the japanese version, Bit is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai aka Cloud Strife. Leena is voiced by Ayako Kawasumi aka Saber Arthuria. Brad is voiced by Masaya Matsukaze aka Teru Mikami. Jamie is voiced by Mitsuki Saiga aka Rossiu Adai. Both seiyuus also had relationship voice actor in some games and animes: Gatekeepers = Bit and Leena are Shun and Ruriko Mobile Suit Gundam IBO = Bit and Brad are McGillis and Gaelio Kyo Kara Maou = Bit and Jamie are Yuuri and Wolfram Megaman NT Warrior = Brad and Jamie are ProtoMan.EXE and Chaud Dragon Quest XI = Bit, Leena and Jamie are Jasper, Gemma and Eleven Pokemon = Bit, Leena, Brad and Jamie are Sandshrew/Sandslash, Ursula, Morty and Drew Well, that's it.
The final fight between Ligar Zero and Beserk Fury was amazing. And I had several models. I never got to see Zoids Chaotic Centry so I've recently started watching it.

Zoids: Chaotic Century was the first anime I watched beyond Pokemon and Digimon. It was so different to what I was used to and I absolutely loved it.
thats the only good one, the other zoids series are really boring
@@sonicx9542 yup ,
Can't wait for the Chaotic Century vid.

I really hope that he does Chaotic Century soon that we my Childhood First Zoid I owned was a Shield Liger.
That’s the one with the little raptor zoid that merged with a broken shield liger to make it work again, right?
@@patknack7368 that is that one
@@patknack7368 organoid actually, they are more organic than Zoids hence the name. Each ancient Zoidiant had an organoid guardian.
I thought that one came before the battle tournament we got with bit and crew.
@@zerokura it does but New Century Zero was broadcasted in the west before Chaotic Century dispite the order actually being in reverse. It's one of those funny conundrums.
Koh Otani - soundtrack composer of Zoids Zero, Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star. All three are still awesome to listen.
Finally a 2000s show that I actually grew up watching.
And Liger Zero Schneider looks like Arios Gundam.
You just linked two shows I like very much...nice.
@@methodedge2484 Helps that Ocean Group dubbed both series.
Bit Cloud -- Allelujah Haptism (Richard Ian Cox)
Brad -- Tieria Erde (Sam Vincent)
Leena Toros and the Tasker Sisters -- Lousie Halevy (Kelly Sheridan)
Harry Champ -- Setsuna F. Seiei (Brad Swaile)
Mary Champ -- Sumeragi Lee Noriega (Lisa Ann Beley)
And those are just the ones I can name by memory. Even Scott McNeil gets in the fun as the Backdraft lieutenant Polta (the one with the pointy shades), also voicing Duo Maxwell and Gym Gingham (Turn A, when the character shows up in video games).
this show was my entire childhood, its honestly probably the reason why i love mecha anime now
I love zoids as a kid, still love new century zero. The strike lazer claw music never fails to get my heart pumping and hype up
Do I smell a "Megaman NT Warrior" Review coming soon
Oh god Axess and Stream Yes please Great stories filled to the brim with worthless filler.
I think my favorite moment in the show was when the official ref and the backseat ref went at each other.
I don't know how I still remember that.
Zoids Battle Legends for Gamecube is still one of my favorite Gamecube games ever

@@blueberrypitbull87 I could say the same about big robots based off the same animals over and over again with a new coat of paint.
Before i even watch i need to say. ZOID WAS LEGENDARY. At that time we did not have any other "Mech" base anime other than gundam, and mech lions or cats look sick!!. The GameCube game was black luster but any fan of the show as a kid prob thought it was 10/10. There was big opened maps and you and your buddy play with all the different zoids, you can buy new zoids that
have different abilities. one of my fav games on the GameCube. As per the show. For early SGI back in the days, i loved it. thank you for making this video. i thought this show got left in the dust.
Before ‘Eureka 7’, I found that Zoids ‘Chaotic century’ and ‘Guardian force’ is nice military sci-fi melodramas which was actually a bit more comprehensible for kids in contrast to how dense Gundam series like ‘Wing’ and ‘Seed’ were for me at the time
all the Instant Messenger sound effects are kicking me in the nostalgia muscle
As a big fan of Zoids growing up that lost my collection when I moved to Canada from Asia, I wish they reissue ALL the older ones so I can get them again. The aftermarket prices for pre-built and sometimes missing parts older ones are insane, much more for ones that are found still unbuilt and in box. I do have the new Liger from the new series I got a few years ago that's displayed on my shelf, but it doesn't have the same feeling as the 80's to early 2000's Zoids in terms of presence.
Hearing inuyasha's voice come out of Not Inuyasha was shocking
You have to admit tho, Liger jumping out of the smoke on the last episode just to shred though Berserk Fury was clean!!!
I still return to this Zoids series. I still love it! Wish there were more episodes. Thanks for talking about it!

I applaud my younger self for tolerating 6am airing shows, else VR Troopers or Zoids: Chaotic Century would've been missed over. Got a good amount of Chaotic to remember it, though New Century holds the most nostalgia for me.
Additionally:
I saw the Leena connection no different than Harry Potter/Snape. They felt a weird obligation to parent just by knowing that kid's parent so well.
You're also not a fan of stock animation, which is funny you got through Digimon which was way worse with this.
All I remember about chaotic century is charged particle cannons mean business

THIS FEELS LIKE A FEVER DREAM but I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who remembered this show!
Zoids was anything but weird. Zoids was badass!!!
Beast Wars is easily my favorite show ever. Nice to see it get a brief mention.
Zoids has a current anime season now too
It sucks though, the zoids are ALL THE WRONG SIZE IN THE NEW ONE, its heresy
Zoids changes size all the time in anime, sometime a common zoid is smaller than it should be
; another time a ultra-rare zoid is a lot bigger then their spec in toylines , just because they need a BIG FINAL BOSS.
tho the size is not the worst thing u can find, last season (zoid wild) we have PPLS JUST RIDING ON THEIR ZOIDS WITHOUT COCKPIT LIKE A HORSE. at least Zoids Wild Zero has a cockpit
That new series of zoids Is just pathetic just lame series
Zoids wild or zoids wild zero because only wild is the one where they ride outside and are small in zero i think they're basically the same
thats because in zoids wild those zoids landed on earth and have basically taken over, the larger zoids couldnt make the journey so only the xs zoids showed up. now in zoids wild zero we've got small and medium zoids popping up (same size as liger basically)
Zoids was what introduced me to the mecha genre ...ohh good days
There's some things that I want to mention:
The composer from the series is Kow Otani, the same from Gundam Wing and Shadow of the Colossus.
Both seiyuus also had relationship voice actor in some games and animes:
Gatekeepers = Bit and Leena are Shun and Ruriko
Mobile Suit Gundam IBO = Bit and Brad are McGillis and Gaelio
Kyo Kara Maou = Bit and Jamie are Yuuri and Wolfram
Megaman NT Warrior = Brad and Jamie are ProtoMan.EXE and Chaud
Dragon Quest XI = Bit, Leena and Jamie are Jasper, Gemma and Eleven
Pokemon = Bit, Leena, Brad and Jamie are Sandshrew/Sandslash, Ursula, Morty and Drew
Well, that's it.
Your videos are getting better and better! Especially loving the humor and cuts! You're one of my favourite youtubers :)
Zoids need a reboot the animation was ahead of its time!
That zoids wild look's awful we need the one's where they pilot the zoids inside not mount them
The final fight between Ligar Zero and Beserk Fury was amazing. And I had several models. I never got to see Zoids Chaotic Centry so I've recently started watching it.
