So, thank you 😊 I'll never know why I was so intrigued by it as a kid tho...
I remember at some point in the series, WB had a design the robot contest, with the winner's appearing in the show. I remember the winner's robot looked like Thunder Ball from Yugioh.
This was one of my all time favorite show as a elementary kid. This show didn’t do as big in America like Pokémon, Digimon, Yi-Gi-Yo & whatever else. Those shows came back years laters or still going kinda strong. I wish this show would comeback for a reboot for sure.
Cubix was super weird but a gem from the good ol’days of 4kids or whatever it was on. Did you ever watch Huntik? One of my faves, you can find it on netflix
It could be worse, Butt Ugly Martians premiered around the same time, also anyone else remember The Incredible Crash Test Dummies special? That's the first one I remember
I always knew this show was real!!!! I’ve tried looking up robot cartoons and I never found this. Idk why but this show held a special place in my heart. Thanks for making this video!
Same, I've had a vague recollection of this show ever since I was a kid, and I could never remember the name, I honestly started to think it was a fever dream until I saw this video.
I remember putting in my old VHS tapes for the 2003 TMNT cartoon and seeing promos for it and Dragon Ball GT, I think. It creeped me the fuck out with the character models
I've always remembered cubix (Although never by the actual name of the show, just the image of the robot), for some reason, everyone around me forgot... I remember solex, and also a overwhelming feeling of sadness in that one episode where cubix (The character) says the line "I don't have any solex left" and shuts down or something along that tune, he got better tho. It was always something that stayed on the back of my head for as long as I can tell, also, I can recall picking up some white stones as a kid and saying, "Yea, this is solex" because it kinda looked see-through but that's all. Thinking of it... it's amazing that I've hold on to those simple show related feelings for longer than 15 years just in the search for this video. Thank you Billiam, for giving closure to that memory.
Bobobo was a show I was convinced was a fever dream that never actually existed. Its a trip. I also really loved Deltora Quest, another show that I seem to remember existing. That one I have a great deal more passion for, having bought the all the books along with rewatching the show recently (though sadly it doesn’t go into the later book series)
It was so good. Putting the blandness of the characters aside (which c'mon, they're kids), everything is so charming about the show. The way the world is slowly revealed to you, how there's a bunch of mysteries that unfold as the journey goes on, and even the layered story telling through a bunch of seemingly random plots at first. Everything unfolds at this steady pace, you want to see what the world has to offer, figure out what exactly the bad guys want, see how the kids develop and interact in general (going from distrusting Connor, to genuinely accepting him as one of them). And when you get to that finale 👌 everything comes together beautifully. Such an epic ending with a huge payoff. It breaks my heart how the second season was handled. You can tell that it was made by different staff as the magic just wasn't there. There were a few cool ideas thrown around, but you could tell they were scrambling to make anything happen, which made the season feel pretty disconnected (when not involved with the new villain)
@@marksmithwas12 hi 🥺 I really loved reading your comment. I feel like the only person alive who absolutely loved this show sometimes. So it was amazing to read someone actually write something nice about it. I feel the same way! 💛
So for this show, I have a vague memory of a evil robot that was like Cubix (the robot not the show) and would try to absorb his spark and the evil robot turned against it's creator.
@@wanderlustwarrior I think Kilobot had basically the Megaman ability of copying robot abilities :p Like it originally was this just demonic looking robot until it copied the cube thing from cubix. It kinda was like robot vampire iirc
@@kerricaine I always felt like Medabots was more fun and realistic then even Pokemon. I was always a collector, So I could totally understand using different medabots and combining parts. Plus I was into models, and so the idea of. Building the boys was cool. Plus none of the "making my pet fight" guilt of Pokemon. Medabots were steel and designed to blow each other up. If one did get damaged, parts were around. They never really did the part switching out thing on the show.
@@TommyHellsing yeah, it's like they saw all the backlash to pokemon and went "ehh maybe make it less...that". and do remember the part swapping was a factor in the show, usually for some specific scenario like, i think there was one where they had to learn to use octopi legs to swim and it messed up medabee because he's usually bipedal or something like that. i defeinitely forgot how bad the dubbing was though xD
@@kerricaine I remember that one. The parts were also important because Bot battles involved betting a part on the outcome if I remember right. Kind of a level up system. The reason they needed to learn to use octo legs was because Metabee's legs were lost in a previous battle.
A lot is flooding back actually. I remember them having these cool looking coins that served as their brain/CPU. The winner was decided by who could do enough damage to eject the opponents coin first.
Me before watching this video: I'm deep in the youtube hole and I have NO idea what Cubix is but whatever. Looks interesting. And vaguely familiar? Me after watching this video: Oh my gosh... I not only watched this, I DEFINITELY had this for my gameboy color. What???
I actually watched the whole thing, and thus remembered most of the plot. I've both watched the show, and a few VHS tapes. Honestly can't remember if we home-recorded the series or not, i can just remember mixing up the tapes so i know i had more than one, wasn't just the movie. But man, Cubix was the real shit back then. I loved this to pieces.
If you don't remember much about something you liked as a kid, it probably isn't worth remembering. Kid brains are smarter than we give them credit for.
@@barrybend7189 I recall in kindergarten/early elementary we had this "Lego" like toy, they were ALL cubes of different colors that you could attach to eachother and form shapes, I always made Cubix's bike form with it lol.
Seeing the thumbnail sparked a metric tonne of nostalgia. Spent the entire video remembering various moments i spent playing with the Cubix toy itself.
I recently got thinking about this show again, absolutely loved it as a kid, so awesome to see a recap! Glad others remember it still! But man what a shame there's no info out there on it! I remember the end of the series being INCREDIBLY HYPE back then but.... man yeah I can barely remember any of it.
Real-life is complicated enough that people can find solid things that support their ideas even if those things are few and far between. For example, if someone hates a certain group of people they will look at the bad actors of that group and use their actions to find reason to hold on to that hatred
It's almost as if bigotry is deeply woven into outdated systems and culture, to the point that even if you know about it you can't shake it because it's all you know, and isn't just disliking someone for being different.
Huh, so that was the show with the small robots that isn't Metabots is called. As a kid I'd get upset when Metabots would come on because it didn't have "the cool white, red, and blue robot" in it.That's all I remember from that show with a few short scenes with no context. You just helped me solve a life-long quandary; now I can finally sleep easy knowing that show actually existed.
I literally forgot about this show for a decade and a half. Now this video pops up in my recommendations and I get all nostalgic. Loved this show to the moon. Thank you!

@@yutarokida Well it's a pretty typical Time Bokan series, with the exception of that it has the prehistoric characters in it. It's hard to come back to as an adult, but check out the one episode Abridged Series of it on TH-cam! It's damn funny. :D
This is one of those nostalgia trips where you see it and have the vaguest thought in your head of “heh. I think I remember this existing at some point”
I remember Cubix because that stuff was on at like 7AM or something, so it was always on first thing when I got up when I was waiting for *real* shows I actually wanted to watch to start.
true....pokemon jackie chan adventures mucha lucha were all shows I waited for then on fox you had power rangers digimon and ultimate muscle and on abc recess....meanwhile my ass watched this stupid show in the meantime and these channels aired all these great shows at the same time so I had to choose one every week and I couldn't stick to one so I missed out on episodes
I would at least say the robots themselves still look fine. Landscapes are also neat. Like any show from that era, it's the human models that look really uncanny.
Freakazoid, xiolan showdown, Mucha lucha, Metabots, Zach bell, code lyoko, road rovers, lunatics unleashed, Batman beyond, G Gundam, I could go on forever lol
Look, i just remember the name and that because I just watched your tech deck dudes video and i got flashbacks when you tried to ollie the cubix dvd..... I cant even remember when i watched it!
Yep, fun fact Bacch and Gluuko became the mascots of a shopping mall in Japan after the show ended. And years after they are still used in promotional material. They are more famous than the show itself in Japan.
You can say that about most of the shows on the Sat morning line up. You had the heavy hitters that everyone tuned in for like Pokemon and Yugioh, then you had the stuff they threw out there that eh, you might as well watch while you're waiting for your favorites to come on. Occasionally one of those shows thrown out there might become a heavy hitter but a lot of times the shows were just lost in the rotation.
This was your first CG show? Guess I lucked out cuz my first was Beast Wars. Also I'm pretty sure that Cubix game was my first Kart Racer, I guess in that instance I didn't luck out
Just want to say love you videos Billy. I look forward to when they come out every week because it always hits some weird nostalgia spot I didnt know I had, and that no other creator or piece of art has been able to hit. Its like we grew up in the same friend group or something. Anyway I hope you still enjoy what you do and can't wait for the next episode!
Remember liking that show so much cause it reminded me of MegaMan and transformers, two of my favorite things hahaha, plus in my country one guy had Goku's voice and that was just so good
There was some sort of competition I remember being held for this show where the audience was asked to make a robot and they would pick one to be featured in the show. I remember when it finally came to the episode where they revealed the robot who won the design contest it was only on screen for a couple seconds if that. I've always wondered who won and how let down they must have felt.
I for sure remember loving cubix as a kid. I remember the toys from BK and I also had the Gameboy game, but I have no recollection of the shows story in any way. What a time to be alive
Memory is a fickle thing: I clicked on this video remembering that not only did I love this show and that i had a really awesome Cubix toy (and I mean like a REAL one from Toys R Us and everything), but watching it reminded me that I ALSO had an equally awesome Dondon toy, which I wrote my name on and everything. That's something I haven't thought about in almost twenty years, like AT ALL.
I remember I used to be friends with an artist in DA who happens to be a Cubix fan. It was the my first exposure to the show. (That artist ended up being a complete JERK, but that's not the point) I watch this video just to see what is the show. I think I didn't missed much. I like Cubix's design, though. (The character)
RPGs of franchises by Nintendo, BioWare (including Mass Effect and excluding Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood) and Square Enix (examples: Pokémon after Generation 1, Final Fantasy and Mario before the 2010s) are amazing, but there are definitely much less popular ones like the Cubix video game which indeed came across as the guilty pleasure RPG of many of us. Like Sonic Battle (which also got a Sonic X adaptation, hooray... :' -( ).
I have this game, it was tough for my brother and I as kids, but it basically introduced me and helped me understand strategy and preparation as a 6-7 year old. Years later, we beat it with no complications. I remember the game's story being a little dark, though.
I remember really liking it, but that's about it. I remember 4kids did some sort of art contest. I drew something up and sent it in 😅 I didn't win. I don't even remember what I could have won ( I think it was having your drawing made into a character. Idk)
This was definitely your typical toy commercial show as no thought was put into the story or 2 dimensional characters. What was Dr. K's real motivation for being evil and why was there an alien working with him?
Great video, as always. Also, I know I'm late, but I do remember watching CUBIX on and off. All I remember, aside from Cubix himself, was that there was one episode where the nerdy kid was in a robot that was making him evil, all based around the fact that the owner of an amusement park called him a "tiny toddler."
I only watched the second season. It gets better as we learn Dr.K's past and the rise of the vampire robot, Kilobot. I also remember the dinosaur robot Tyranix and thought he was the coolest.
Imagine being a cute little robot in the Cubix universe and then having your soul ripped out of your body by a crazy person.
You're right that WOULD be sick

Lol, this is literally exactly how this show was for me. Crazy we're all out here living the same lives.
I remember at some point in the series, WB had a design the robot contest, with the winner's appearing in the show. I remember the winner's robot looked like Thunder Ball from Yugioh.
Hi hi puffy ami yumi is one of those shows I remember watching and liking but I hardly remember
I loved hi hi puffy amy yumi and whatever happen to robot jones.
Crestofhonor 23 glad I’m not going insane and that was a real show, I convinced myself that it was just a figment of my imagination at this point
i remembered ut when i was ike 11 from jetix and i vagueley remembered crushing on the girls at the end.
Its like SMT the animation for the cool kid 😎
It was on kids wb
Wait, you said Cubix was the first CGI show you watched?
Did you not get to watch Beast Wars? You poor soul.
Bruh. You're obviously a person of culture
I used to think Beast Wars was something i dreamt up until recently
Yeah no kidding. I feel sorry for the kid. Its like missing the moon landing and having to settle with the Challenger disaster.
It could be worse, Butt Ugly Martians premiered around the same time, also anyone else remember The Incredible Crash Test Dummies special? That's the first one I remember
Beasties and ReBoot were the shit back then.
I always knew this show was real!!!! I’ve tried looking up robot cartoons and I never found this. Idk why but this show held a special place in my heart. Thanks for making this video!
Hey! Don't agree with him. He's a skeptic schmuck. I watched it growing up and trust me it is awesome.
@@Axxelbar nostalgia got the best of you…
Same, I've had a vague recollection of this show ever since I was a kid, and I could never remember the name, I honestly started to think it was a fever dream until I saw this video.
Cubix.. honestly all I remember is the theme song... VAGUELY.
As for other shows.. list is too long xD
I remember putting in my old VHS tapes for the 2003 TMNT cartoon and seeing promos for it and Dragon Ball GT, I think. It creeped me the fuck out with the character models
Dudes that theme song was a banger!
Yeah, I haven't seen the show in ages and yet, for some weird reason, I can remember that theme song -perfectly-.
I never watched cubix and didn’t even know it had a show I just remember playing a cubix game on GameCube
07317/2019: ...CUBE!
This was my shit back in the day. I teared up when I found a full episode of it.
Same my childhood
@@ErenYeager-rj8ck Eren Yeager watched Cubix?!
people uploaded the entirety of s1
That was season two. The evil cubix clone was called Kilobot.
an*
Thats just Sonic Adventure 2
Spark? They implemented that concept from Beast Wars?
@@wanderlustwarrior I think Kilobot had basically the Megaman ability of copying robot abilities :p Like it originally was this just demonic looking robot until it copied the cube thing from cubix. It kinda was like robot vampire iirc
I always preferred Medabots, but I remember thinking it was interesting how both came out around the same time.
yeah, i remember medabots was my absolute favourite show at the time, and then being really dissapointed that cubix was...way less entertaining...
What???
I kind of remember fighting foodons it was really weird. I remember liking it but have a hard time with alot of it
Same
South Koreans loved this one. I even had Cubix Action figure.
Im pretty sure i had one as well but had no idea where it was from
I actually watched the whole thing, and thus remembered most of the plot. I've both watched the show, and a few VHS tapes. Honestly can't remember if we home-recorded the series or not, i can just remember mixing up the tapes so i know i had more than one, wasn't just the movie.
But man, Cubix was the real shit back then. I loved this to pieces.
I had a ton of medals from Jackie Chan's adventures, used to be a magazine over here in the uk. they were actually really well made
If you don't remember much about something you liked as a kid, it probably isn't worth remembering. Kid brains are smarter than we give them credit for.
also if you did enjoy a show and watch it a lot as a kid it maybe worth remembering......
Hey I remembered Cubix. But yeah I never got a Cubix toy. I did get a Captain Gundam Figure from SD Gundam Force though.
@@barrybend7189 I recall in kindergarten/early elementary we had this "Lego" like toy, they were ALL cubes of different colors that you could attach to eachother and form shapes, I always made Cubix's bike form with it lol.
This show was obviously ass as hell just the robot was cool
But power rangers took all the room
Seeing the thumbnail sparked a metric tonne of nostalgia. Spent the entire video remembering various moments i spent playing with the Cubix toy itself.
There's barely any R34 of it either, it's so forgotten!
...n-not that I'd look it up myself just because.
i’m surprised there’s any rule 34 of it. i just randomly remembered this show a couple days ago for no reason.
'visibly concerned'
Thanks for the heads up
I recently got thinking about this show again, absolutely loved it as a kid, so awesome to see a recap! Glad others remember it still!
But man what a shame there's no info out there on it! I remember the end of the series being INCREDIBLY HYPE back then but.... man yeah I can barely remember any of it.
"Despite his bigotry being wrong, and PROVEN wrong every episode, he still holds on to it."
JUST LIKE REAL LIFE BIGOTRY! :D
Well, damn, I guess this is realistic writing from a kids show.
@@Da_Baron Only thing is missing would be Connor's dad telling Cubix he was "one of the good ones"
Real-life is complicated enough that people can find solid things that support their ideas even if those things are few and far between. For example, if someone hates a certain group of people they will look at the bad actors of that group and use their actions to find reason to hold on to that hatred
YEAH!
This show of Denouncing the Fascist Left and the Fascist Right before it was cool!
It's almost as if bigotry is deeply woven into outdated systems and culture, to the point that even if you know about it you can't shake it because it's all you know, and isn't just disliking someone for being different.
There was also an open-world-esque Action RPG type game I remember playing on either PS1 or PS2, spent plenty of time playing that as a kid
Ps2 and also the gamecube, I played gamecube version
I always get SD Gundam Force confused with Cubix all the time
Dude that show was weird! It was totally different than the old gundam and I was upset
@@jurgeysamuel Upset? It holds up on its own merits just fine... Sure the rendered 3D was a bit janky but it's a good show.
I don't know I think I was just in the wrong mindset for it, because they were chibi if memory serves, and I was used to the cool gundam
@@jurgeysamuel hey SD Gundam Force was what got me into Gundam. I still have my Captain Gundam action figure.
I literally forgot about this show for a decade and a half. Now this video pops up in my recommendations and I get all nostalgic.
Loved this show to the moon. Thank you!
Please cover Code Lyoko! That show was just awesome and one of the best shows of my childhood. I got so into it. Always pretended to go to the Lyoko Tower and jump off like Aelita.
If you liked it, check out the youtube channel it has
I'm 27 and vaguely remember this show. Really only remember where Connor managed to fix Cubix.
Also Billiam do you remember Flint the time detective?
Dude! I loved Flint!!! And I'm so scared to watch it because Im afraid that sucks so badly, like corrector Yui
This was a masterpiece, when I saw Cubix, I knew I'd never find another robot as great as him ever again
All I can remember about Cubix is the titular robot himself. Iconic. I couldn't have told you anything else about it
I just remembered the robot murder
I remember loving cubix and watching it a lot but yet I can't remember any of the content
All I remember about this show is that my mom and I would sing
"I’ve got to fight!
All day and night!
Cubix~!"
This is was one show that you managed to pull out of the deepest recesses of my childhood, holy crap I used to love this show
Cubix aired on Vortexx the Saturday morning cartoon block that replaced 4kids after it when bankrupt in 2012
I remember Cubix because that stuff was on at like 7AM or something, so it was always on first thing when I got up when I was waiting for *real* shows I actually wanted to watch to start.
Same.
true....pokemon jackie chan adventures mucha lucha were all shows I waited for then on fox you had power rangers digimon and ultimate muscle and on abc recess....meanwhile my ass watched this stupid show in the meantime and these channels aired all these great shows at the same time so I had to choose one every week and I couldn't stick to one so I missed out on episodes
I did something similar, watching Rescue Heroes while I was waiting for Sonic X on Vortexx.
I think the CGI aged fairly well, at least not horribly compared ot some CGI series from that era.
to*
I would at least say the robots themselves still look fine. Landscapes are also neat.
Like any show from that era, it's the human models that look really uncanny.
Was the same company who animated ion kid?
I remember loving this show as a kid, I didn't remember that it was a CG show until this video though. Thanks for another shot of nostalgia.
Literally all I remember from this show was Cubix, that evil dark robot thing, and DonDon the bird thing.
Cubix was awesome but the toy always fell apart.
Shit literally would not stay together out of the box.
Freakazoid, xiolan showdown, Mucha lucha, Metabots, Zach bell, code lyoko, road rovers, lunatics unleashed, Batman beyond, G Gundam, I could go on forever lol
I recently rewatched Xiaolin showdown and the canadian spin off/continuation. Really holds up even to this day. Wonderful show.
@@heinousdickanus6040 THERE WAS A SPINOFF?
WHAT OTHER KNOWLEDGE ARE YOU WITHHOLDING
Oh god that Inspector Gadget toys gives me Galidor vibes
That show was weird, and the lego toys too
I thought that Galidor was just some weird dream I had when I was sick as hell for a few days when I was 12!!!!
I played the GBA game of that
I watched Cubix on the fight for the fox box, and rented the gamecube game at Hollywood Video.
Yeah, the ps1 or gba doesn't compare, not that the gamecube game was excellent but it was better than those
Look, i just remember the name and that because I just watched your tech deck dudes video and i got flashbacks when you tried to ollie the cubix dvd..... I cant even remember when i watched it!
I remember this show and enjoying it. I think I was more interested in the toys.
Anybody remember MonColle Knights?
Yep, fun fact Bacch and Gluuko became the mascots of a shopping mall in Japan after the show ended. And years after they are still used in promotional material. They are more famous than the show itself in Japan.
I always hated Cubix, but I watched it while I waited for Yugioh
This guy gets it
Samme
Same for me
You can say that about most of the shows on the Sat morning line up.
I'm still salty they canned Cardcaptors...
I sure hope there will be a live-action movie adaptation of Cubix: Robots For Everyone.
This was your first CG show? Guess I lucked out cuz my first was Beast Wars.
Also I'm pretty sure that Cubix game was my first Kart Racer, I guess in that instance I didn't luck out
Magi nation, spider riders and Mona the vampire were cool cartoons that seem like nobody watched
Oh man. I remember those first two. Vaguely. Pretty sure Magi Nation was a loose adaptation of a GB RPG.
mayborneflower damn i never knew, well as i kid i really enjoyed it. i’d like to think i would now but it might just be nostalgia
Tai Chi Chasers was a pretty neat one. I never found out how the first season got resolved. Pity.
i dont know what mona is but i know the others... and i like them
I thought those were just weird dreams I had as a child
this was my child hood show right here havent watched this show in over 10 years
Just want to say love you videos Billy. I look forward to when they come out every week because it always hits some weird nostalgia spot I didnt know I had, and that no other creator or piece of art has been able to hit. Its like we grew up in the same friend group or something. Anyway I hope you still enjoy what you do and can't wait for the next episode!
The Iron Kid.
That'd be right up your alley I think.
it is actually The Eon Kid
@@Lonk000 In its original country, it's The Iron Kid.
Remember liking that show so much cause it reminded me of MegaMan and transformers, two of my favorite things hahaha, plus in my country one guy had Goku's voice and that was just so good
Ah, my childhood. Loved watching this back in the day. I think one day I’ll cosplay as Cubix.
Billiam talk about Di gata defenders I haven't heard about that show in a long time.
I for sure remember loving cubix as a kid. I remember the toys from BK and I also had the Gameboy game, but I have no recollection of the shows story in any way. What a time to be alive
Complete Cubix needs to come out on Blu-Ray or DVD NOW!
Let's get SHOUT! factory on the phone to release it.
Ugh, how I bitched and moaned to my parents for the Burger King toys back in the early 2000's.
At 8 years old in Korea, Uncle asked me what kind of toy I wanted. Asked for a Bionicle and got a Cubix instead. Hated the rest of my vacation XD
Does anyone remember Storm Hawks or League of Super Evils?
Yes!
Vaguely but yes.
Thanks for reminding me of League of Super Evils one of the best shows :D
I also came to think of Galactic Football and Hero 108
Yes
Your channel is digging up memories I didn’t even know I had
Memory is a fickle thing: I clicked on this video remembering that not only did I love this show and that i had a really awesome Cubix toy (and I mean like a REAL one from Toys R Us and everything), but watching it reminded me that I ALSO had an equally awesome Dondon toy, which I wrote my name on and everything. That's something I haven't thought about in almost twenty years, like AT ALL.
I rather have a Jackie Chan Adventure review, that show was amazing
Adrian Dezendegui PREACH
I had thought that Billiam already made this episode, but then I just realized that Cubix was on another thumbnail
I gotta say though, that PS1 Cubix game has some great music.
Can you review loonatics I remember that they gave taz, bugs bunny gave then super powers
r/ihadastroke
I've been trying to remember the name of this show for years!!!!! THANK YOU
I remember I used to be friends with an artist in DA who happens to be a Cubix fan. It was the my first exposure to the show. (That artist ended up being a complete JERK, but that's not the point)
I watch this video just to see what is the show. I think I didn't missed much.
I like Cubix's design, though. (The character)
The Gamecube game, Cubix Showdown, is actually pretty decent
A lite RPG thats a bit of a guitly pleasure of mine, my favorite part was its music
And some puzzle platformer mixed in.
Idk)
Yea they ended up modeling the winner into the show but only briefly. Hardly any dialogue. Very lackluster 1st prize.
This also reminds me of the show fighting foodons I used to watch on 4kids that was a wild show
Coconut Fred fruit salad island , mucha lucha, sholin showdown, Johnny test
Mucha lucha and shaolin showdown were the shit when i was a kid. Those shows kicked ass.
Can you do a ep on a show called the zeta project?? It’s a robot that dc created during the WB Saturday morning cartoons.
