Just noticed that he most often dribbled with his left but most of his great schools are with the right. The most two-footed player ever. Still think he’s the most elegant and skilful player I have ever seen.
Indeed Glenn Hoddle was the most elegant footballer...and the timing of that famous volley combining with Ossie Ardiles was Glenn's favourite goal of all time he once shared....he was my boyhood football hero!
Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, John Barnes dan Chris Waddle are England's unrivalled gems to date in terms of dribbling skills, high-level passing quality and 2-foot skills. That is why their goals are high classic scale that are still could not found in English players after their era. They are among GOD gifted that are no longer in the England team now.
100% agree and I got published in the Tottenham till I die book saying exactly that. he was revered around the world by the footballing greats , all of which were heaping heavy praise on him , but wasted in England by the idiocy of the football Association of the era.
Glenn was always very considerant towards the recipient of one of his passes, he always put just a little bit of backspin on the ball so it sat up nicely rather than running away from them.
thanks for sharing this. I'm too young so Glen Hoddle as a player was before my time. I first came across him when he became England manager. As a player in this video, my first thought was he reminds me of Paul Scholes, but the more I watched, I see he has more dribbling and footwork skills vs Scholes. And he's obviously taller and more athletic. The passing skills he's got is rare amongst footballers of that era (I'm just going by video footage; I wasn't around back then :-) )
sublime a joy to watch.....unstoppable.Mind you he needed a Graham Roberts or a Terry Yorath to do his tackling....but with skill like that who cared !
@@johnp515 Have you seen a better player in the last 3 - 4 generations ? ( don't say gaza )Forget the ones before that because none of them were anywhere near hoddle !
One of the most skillful and elegance midfield player England ever have beside than Brooking, Wilkins, Waddle, Platt, Gascoigne and Robson during that Era 80s and early 90s.
the best thing about him was that his skills weren't merely for the sake of show, he did only what was needed to keep the game going, find teammates in the best positions etc
My boyhood idol and one of the main reasons I became a Spurs fan. He was brilliant in the era he played but would have been even better had he played in the PL era with better pitches and less hatchet man type players around.
England’s greatest ever talent, ignored by the imbecilic FA of the time, played in an era preoccupied with work rate and crunch tackling that wasted this mercurial genius.
A flash harry, was the term used by the fa . Incredible footballer. He only got the recognition his talent deserved on the continent. He was truly one of the best in the world in his prime.
My boyhood idol and hero. The most gifted English player. Blessed with a divine touch, able to shoot with both feet, genius dribbling, and tremendous long range power. I have his 1982 World Cup jersey and Spurs jersey. His goal against Watford is my favorite goal. England team should have been built around him but his managers didn’t have the foresight this. What could have been for England Glenn Hoddle in midfield with Bryan Robson “Captain Marvel”.
Greatest player I ever saw play at WHL. I was lucky enough to watch his entire career
I caught him just before he left for Monaco, Gascoigne was world class too
Remember the 6-0 win over Southampton ? He destroyed them. Shilton was not happy 😂
Best skilled Midfield player England has ever had.
Just noticed that he most often dribbled with his left but most of his great schools are with the right. The most two-footed player ever. Still think he’s the most elegant and skilful player I have ever seen.
The way his passes sit up for his teammates is not by accident a thing of beauty
Most elegant footballer you will ever see

Glenn was above all of them, when Cruyff & Maradona praise your technique you know your special.
Was way ahead of his time...the man was magic.
world class.
two footed genius. best english player ever to have graced the game.
& you can quote me.

I was discussing with my dad, about How players before didnt dribble the same way as now. He told me to watch this video, and wow. How wrong I took😂
I was lucky enough to watch Glenn in my early to late teens.
Best skills of any player i have ever seen.
Glenn Hoddle was a genius. That is all.
Those volleys, what goals. Not a Spurs fan as such ( Man U ) but would love to see Spurs do well.I always feel the club is class.
Favourite player of all time. Ahead of his time for the English game
Glenn was always very considerant towards the recipient of one of his passes, he always put just a little bit of backspin on the ball so it sat up nicely rather than running away from them.
You are 100% correct and I had exactly that said to me by Clive Allen.

30 - 40 yrs later some of these Midfielders still couldn't lace his boots my absolute fave Spurs player we've hads beauty's
What a player. Right footed? Left footed? He didn't care.
Best English player ever
Greatest english footballer ever ! In any generation!

Blessed to have seen and met him! Genius 👌
the best thing about him was that his skills weren't merely for the sake of show, he did only what was needed to keep the game going, find teammates in the best positions etc
Incredible player.
Hoddle really was a genius. A shame he wouldn't allow Le Tissier the same chance when he was England manager.

Super crack! Muy pero muy elegante que gusto verlo jugar, lastima q no corrió con más suerte, pero q jugador.
What a player 👏
GREAT MUSIC, WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT BEAT ???
Waddle and Hobson were 1 of the few skillful players that England ever had !!
Agree Bryan Robson was world class too
No wonder he thought god was speaking to him, look at the talent he had!
Most naturally two footed player ever.
Most two-footed player ever... sheer genius
Super joueur !
When you're good at football, you don't need tactics. Modern football is sterile & painful to watch.
Genius❤❤

Played the 'Beautiful Game'
Genius…
The most technically gifted player I've ever seen in a Spurs shirt. Wasted by England.
Should of had a 100 caps for England
Like if mad scientists spliced Beckham's & Gazza's ability & put it into one man.
Good video but please New video Toni schumacher
ídolo do Endrick parte 2
The English Zinedine Zidane
Better than Gazza
As a spurs fan yes
Music???
Should have played for The Arsenal.
Dream in European trophy dodgers
New video toni schumacher
Perhaps not as good as Gazza (close) but twice as good as Beckham.
He was more skillful than Gazza but Gazza had a lower centre of gravity and a complete lack of inhibition.
@@awerdna387Gazza was wild.
Gazza was a fantastic player. Hoddle was too with added genius. Just unmatched.
Absolute genius
