The way they did put their effort and focus on the User Experience so much to make it as automatic as possible in this major release makes me love the PCSX2 team even more, collaborating with duckstation was a huge W
good video, but an important note. at 5:03 you say that the emulator is asking if you want it to scan for new games on startup, but the emulator does this anyways. its actually asking you if you want to search for games recursively, aka do you want it to search for games in a folder within the folder you selected. for example:
games folder: d:/games
but maybe you have a multi disc game like devil may cry 2, so you store its roms in a folder within the game folder (i.e: d:/games/devil may cry 2)
searching recursively will make it so that the roms in d:/games/devil may cry 2 show up in the list, if you say no however they will not appear in the list at all, since the emulator will only search for FILES in d:/games, but wont open any folders inside that folder
Thanks I'll correct that in future videos
Best Brazilian person accent i ve ever heard. congrats for the work
true!
nem ferrando que esse cara é brasileiro
Soube que era BR no instante que o cara pronuciou "Released" como Reeliased kkkkkkkkk
I'm surprised so many people haven't been using the nightly build.
What's that
@@aspectofdecay007 the more recent and experimental version on pcsx2, if you actually saw the video you would know
@@aspectofdecay007 Beta, unstable versions.
@@aspectofdecay007 The far superior version that isnt out of date by several years and should absolutely be the default imo.
@@ISSO1407 why is it better
Just a tip, If you want crystal clear smoothed graphics you should go under internal resolution and set it to "4x Native" and turn on FXAA contrast sharpening to "sharpen and resize display resolution" you can also turn dithering to completely off to remove the muddy texture overlay, it looks absolutely amazing on my RTX laptop
Super straight forward and easy to follow tutorial. Thanks pal!
This looks like Duckstation now. I installed this ps2 emulator. It is great that it looks just like duckstation which makes it easy to use. It works great. Works well with my xbox controller.
Stenzek, one of the developers of Duckstation also worked on this UI re-work for PCSX2, along with other non-UI contributions added to the project.
Hope it gets all Duckstation functionalities
@@n-o-i-d Not just a UI he worked on quite a few things in the last year.
@@Darkcranio thanks for the head up, I edited my original comment to clarify this
I didn't know there'd been a new update, thanks! Been on the last stable version for ages, nice to be able to get all the new enhancements.
Find your channel by stumble upon PS3 emu and now PSX2. What a time to be alive +sub
I sometimes put the resolution to the PS2's native 512 x 448i because you get a genuine look of the system that way.
I can't explain why, but while I love the crisp higher res of the Dreamcast and Xbox, the softer look of the PS2 with the interlaced flicker just looks so... nice?
I disable that horrible motion blur they used on PS2 90% of the time however.
Is that dithering? Prefer it on some games but not a fan of the jaggies.
@@rstrn8sthe ps2 has no antialiasing, it's *all* jaggies.
imo because of the low res textures in the dreamcast, i think it looks the best at its native resolution. even better if you have a 4:3 or 5:4 monitor that can support that resolution. i feel the same way about the ps2 as well, but the textures and models are a little bit better than that. xbox is definitely good looking at higher resolutions, with its higher poly count and texture resolution. makes sense why the xbox one and series games run those at 720p - 4k.
DON'T 448 is interlaced it works on a CRT only on a monitor's it's like playing at 224p which's disgusting
This new version just works so well. Previously I had controller issues and some games just didn't work right graphically. Now everything just seems to work by default. Love it!
impressive how is further developloping after 22 years!
what a decent fuckin youtuber man, to the point, no confusion, very clear, thanks, regardless if games work or not, you've done your part
thank you good sire
What a great comprehensive guide. I also like where you explain it to the most basic level, e.g. "click this four squares", so that all users of varying competencies can follow the guide. Thank you very much.
Glad to see 2.0 come out. Jesus loves you!
The last time i used PCSX2 I was so confused by the cover art downloader. I tried linking directly to image url's of individual Google Image search results, thinking that's what I had to do - nope. Thank you so much!
Mate I did the same 😂
Cool! I'm gonna see if the performance in SSX3 is been stabilized a bit better.
SSX 3 run extremely well on gamecube emulator just in case.
@@hipmp5 True, but I have always preferred the Ps2 and Xbox versions.
Excellent tutorial! Very well done. Easy to understand and execute your instructions! You have my sub. Thank you
Skipping PS2 Startup is criminal! 😄 It makes me smile every time when I boot the system up. 🙂
drop a piano off a tall building, you get the idea...
@@guyincognito9484 I doubt it it'd produce the same effect, lol. What do you mean exactly?
@@act1no go look up "real ps2 sound", it shows a group dropping a piano off a tall roof and *ps2 startup...
Excellent and very informative video 💯
Now we can fill our bellies with diet soda and play Burnout Revenge for the PS2
Burnout mentioned
Thank you so much for making a very simple tutorial! Liked and subbed.
I guess its time to re play MGS3 again with this new pcsx2 emulator. What a thrill
Playing through some Test Drive Eve of Destruction scaled up to 1440p and its a gorgeous game for its time.
I love that I can dump all my old games that I own from childhood to my PC without turning on my PS2 and wearing that down.
Oh the school bus demolition derby game!
I need to buy a usb disc drive for my pc, I have so many ps2 games I can rip.
I played that game a lot.
@@shortyg1018 Just download them dude.
El equipo detrás de pcsx2 ha hecho un estupendo trabajo facilitando al usuaro la emulación. Y este tutorial de instalación es excelente. Muy bien explicado👍
Quick and easy to understand with some nice tips. Just in time for my emulation debut and both emulators i use get major updates.
Dude is the best at explaining things I swear
Thank you for this, I have my computer I don’t use, but I recently got into emulation and want to play ps2, so I appreciate that help to push me to use it again
I just passed the old nightly version I had to my brother today, just to find out that there's a new version lol, thank you for the detailed video
thank you it was very helpful
Musou games still have that weird slight vertical lines glitch on upscaled resolution.
Just WOW!
Brother,you are the GOAT,im serious.
Im at my 40s and i love playing games from when i was teen and later,mame32 and pcxs2 are a treasure for us over 35.
I would love to see also a guide about best mame32(which one the best, most working games etc) and how to set it up,and also, something important, how to install and activate cheats on pcxs.
No,im not a game cheater and i never loved using cheats in my games, but, one of my favorite games is Shadow of the Colossus,i still have the retail copy on my shelf and once,i tried to activate the cheats for the unlocked items only and no matter the guides i found online and on youtube,i couldnt activate them no matter what.
Love this guide so much! Yours is hands down the best PCSX2 Tutorial on the internet, Thank you for making it! Also, where is the Video at 13:57? Would love to know how to get the online working.
Thank you bro! This is the best one tutorial i found. Short and easy.✌🏻
best guide I have ever seen in my entire life Keep Going ❤
best guide of all time
Appreciate the explanation on downloading covers had no idea there was a way to automate that
I just got my first proper Gaming PC and wanted to find a way to replay my old ps2 games since my ps2 console is busted.
This tutorial came just at the perfect time. Thx so much 🎉
Man, this is way too smooth, it's almost unreal.
I love this tutorial man. sadly my computer just isn't good enough to run my games smoothly lol
If I can play MGS3 Subsistance and Gran Turismo 4, this will rock!
They have been for a while...
check on Rowdy's chanel for a complete GT4 tutorial, you will be amazed of what the modding team made for the game, it's absolutly wonderful! I also did a couple of videos on GT4.
You can. Fully playable from start to finish.
Bruh
Hey thanks a lot I was looking for that URL for the cover art subscribed
Thanks for the easy tutorial mate
Very good tutorial! I managed to make GTA LCS playable with the texture pack.
The only problem I had was trying to run the game with the 60fps patch, I had slowdown even with an RTX 3060.
But it's still playable at 30, thanks a lot!
Try increasing the Cycle rate thing, go to settings -> emulation -> increase the EE Cycle rate
@@Igor.L Yeah, it was actually the EE Cycle Skipping that needs to be in Mild Underclock for this game. It's running fine now, thanks!
yeah that GTA in particular had slowdown even in the original hardware
1:49 I can't😭😭😭
My C drive is filled up 😭❤
Awesome..Thank You For Remembering My Childhood..❤❤
Thank you very much amazing tutorial it's working great
pcsx2 suddenly looks like an extension for obs studio
I wonder if San Andreas is playable in this version, ima gonna try it.
Oh, so they finally put the Stenzek version as part of the official release now? Sweet!
Thanks man, your do a super important job
thank u so much for this amazing video friend
Excellent tutorial, congrats!
This is the best video, complete about this emulator :-)
Thank you!! This was a very helpful video
Thank you bro you helped my dumbass🤣🫡
Amazing tut
imma download this just for the start up screen :')
when i start a game it says unknow game can i have some help pls
Convert your .iso files into .chd files to save loooooads of space.
Would you ever cover compressing the iso files for bigger libraries or overall saving storage
I think i will, since someone else asked about it too
CHD it's lossless and the compressor tool in EmuDeck makes it easy. Works on Windows and Steam Deck/Linux
@@aftonstjarna4530 I know about it I'm just asking him to cover it bringing more people to the compressors. I only found out about it within a 10sec coverage in a 15min video on the psp iso's to cso. I think coverage like this is important to some. Especially since there's a decent amount of tools out there
Thank you sir!
Won't be impressed untill driv3r is playable
Not tried it on this version 2.x but i have had some luck in the past trying it via PCSX2
@@gmuge7 it's next to impossible to emulated on anything android windows PS3 sucks as it's one of my all time favourites
You can play Driv3r on PC version
And stuntman
Have you tried xemu?
Any significant changes in the games compatibility list?
I couldn't run bully yesterday went and updated it and replaced the rom and it running perfectly now
@@YankeeDoodle2 by changing all the variables you have no way to determine what the issue was. Bully is running fine on an older pcsx2 version, so im assuming it was a bad rom.
Improvements over 1.6 or 1.7 ? If you played only on 1.6, yes the hardware rendering compatibility has improved a lot, they fixed tones of games. This version is better in every ways imo
This is great. Just wish PCSX2 had a free cam feature!!!
Very nice video bro very informative
great video man everything worked
anyone else surprised they removed "ASYNC AUDIO" !? i see no one else bothered by this removal when it was integral for some games to even be playable (MGS3 e.g.)
Wow thanks a lot
I enjoy your channel. However,
I disagree with default install. This is the point of making it portable. So to be able to move the install.
You can move it after installing as default as well, I mostly did it this time because you don't have to make the portable.ini file which confused some people on the other video
Just got it, and it the GUI looks kinda like Duck Station. 😝
I keep having my games crash mid game... anyone else having similar problems? updated my app, tried nightly both crash within 5 minutes of gameplay.
i have an i7 4080 with 32 g Ram
ran fine on older build last time i ran it but when i installed i didnt realize it would break the game..
Thanks for the cover trick!
Something to clarify, AMD GPUs have awful OpenGL support, so if you have AMD your second best bet after Vulkan if you have a card on the older side is Either DX12 or DX11, benchmark to see wich is better, even if you have Vulkan benchmark, I have a R7 360 (wich I know it's ancient) and in some games DX12 performs better than Vulkan and Viceversa.
can ANYONE help, no matter what build I download, PCXS2 will start to open, and then crash every time. I'm running Sonoma on a 2015 Macbook, 16 gb ram, i7. Only game I wanna play is tenkaichi 3 mods!
I still get lines in the background while playing Tales of Abyss with some upscaling. I can't play it on native, it's too bad.
Hvala stari 👍
Ma ni panike stari❤️
Anyone that needs a reference if your pc has more than this specs :
intel hd 5500
gpu 2.0hz
8gb ram
I think you are good to go i dunno about all games but the ones i have run smoothly i even play some in 720p like kingdom hearts👍
THANK YOU!
Appreciate the work dude ❤
2.0 thats crazy
They should add gamepad support in the UI
Has anyone experienced input lag on pcsx2 1.6? If so this new 2.0 version fixes that? I use a 360 wired controller and on steam games it works flawlessly
There's still noticeable input lag, but there's option now on Emulation tab called "Optimal Frame Pracing" that helps a bit
Awesome 👌
i didnt know pcsx2 needed an update, its been working great for years lol
bro cheat code setup in tekken tag in ps2 pc elumantar in pc
Idky but my games on an early patch from months ago look so blurry when i move the camera, like its motion blur i tried everything to disable it, it has some ghosting effect too
I've been trying out DirectX11 and 12 so that I can use AMDs frame generation for some 120fps ps2 gaming. The input lag is noticeable, but isn't bad considering the style of games I play
Try out lossless scaling instead.
Most seem to prefer that one to AMD built in interpolation.
* 2:16 it can be longer if your system needs to install Visual ++, no worries
finally i can play the Godfather Scarface and all the GTA games without so many glitches.
Great vid! Whats that background music? Its familiar
Drebin 893 from MGS4
@@Igor.L Ah Totally Makes sense. Tyvm. Looking forward to next vids
Is there anyway to configure analog pad sensibility? It was possible on older versions of this emulator (1.6 and older) but couldn't find on this new one. Also, how to turn on v-sync? There are some ugly tearing here.
Cheers!
Not sure if there's analog sensitivity, i'm away from the PC so can't check but if there's one it's under Settings -> Controllers -> Controller Port 1. Maybe there's a deadzone setting there.
And yes there's V-Sync, it's on the Settings -> Emulation
@@Igor.L Right you are, sir. I wasn't seen this tab because was looking into specific game settings, not the global. Cheers!
Thanks for the deep dive and covering this update, IgorL!
Can anyone please comment on the controller input latency? Is it snappy or there's noticeable lag on ABCD buttons and X/Y pads? TIA for those who'll respond!
Yes the input lag is still noticeable, but there's one setting that can help on Settings -> Emulation
you can enable "Optimal Frame Pacing" for reduced input lag, will use a bit more of your CPU and GPU though
@@Igor.L Thank you for your tests and response, IgorL! Subscribing. Updating my old version of PCSX2 as well, thanks to your guide.
Didn't know about the patches tab. Now I can play Sly Cooper without that ugly ghosting.
im on a old pc and after updating to 2.0 almost all my games run worst so i rolled back to 1.7
man how tf do i use mouse and keyboard................ was hoping you cover that
Hello IgorL the part at 8:35 the enable Instant VU is removed on the new updtate 2.02 that needs to be addressed on a new video! Thank you for the tutorial!
It now says Enable Thread Pinning and I don't know what that is so I'll leave it unchecked as it is!
Yes that setting can no longer be checked because it's now enabled by default, thread pinning is something so leave it unchecked
@@Igor.L Thank you!🍻
Wahou merci beaucoup !
