    Ron, nice videos. Regarding the new car (4 year/50k mile) and CPO warranties, I believe you meant to say that the clock starts from the “in-service” date, rather than the manufacture date. Depending on when those cars were first sold/put in service, the CPO warranty should add several more months (or even years) beyond the expiration dates you mentioned. Even better for the future owners!

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be right D Mac. I just know as far as annual service goes that the car will tell you that it needs to be serviced based on manufacture date and not from when its sold. So say I bought a new car that sat for 11 months, on the 12th month (even though i've only driven it for 1 month) I'll get the notification that it needs to be in for its first annual service since the manu date was 12 months ago. I thought it worked like that but I'll double check. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

    Morning Ron
    Thanks great info here should help a lot of people on the boarder between new and used. Only question if the warranty is in limited miles why only 2 years more from build date. What I’m saying is if they are willing to go unlimited mile why not start the time when you take delivery or just call it what it is extended, 2 years beyond factory. Because if someone tells me I’m getting a 6 Year Warrenty with the deal that means to me 6 years from today.

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, I totally understand, I think it that sense Maserati has to make a little bit of money and a lot of money made by dealerships is in service. I think giving THAT good of a deal may hurt the service departments.

    • @ironman98
      @ironman98 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I heard, the older models are actually less reliable than the newer ones due to the older transmissions that are in them having issues. Whether that be the clutch or something else. The older ZF transmissions were not very good from what I hear. If you can find one without the paddle shifters, you'll have less problems due to the fact that the non paddle-shift versions don't have a clutch in them (from what I know). It's one less thing that's going to go wrong with those older ZF transmissions from what I heard.

  • @aaronhussain3873
    @aaronhussain3873 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's a nice informative video, Ron. Lots to think about; especially considering the fact certified cars are worth a substantial amount more than those that aren't.
    But I remember you saying in another video that a Ghibli S service costs like $400 - so considering a non-certified car (as you stated) could cost several thousand dollars less, is it worth buying a certified car, bearing in mind a few check ups will certainly cost less than $7k?

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      $350 for the 1st & 2nd annual services. But when you get to the 3rd service is really you really spend the big bucks and since the $7k is factored into the price of the vehicle, its not money you'd have to spend up front but monthly, unlike if something breaks and you need all of the cash right then and there.

      I would say to be safe and go with a used 17' if you can find it. While the 14 and 15 models were full of problems, the 16's had a few issues as well. But with a pre-owned first gen model, those problems were probably fixed during inspection and annual services. So you may be in good shape.

    What Problems can I expect if I buy a Maserati that is let’s say 6-7 years old and is Out of Warranty?

      Well, I bought a used 08 GT with 14k miles and now have 30k. The gas left panel fell out and had it replaced for 100 dollars. Other than that. Not one problem.

    I bought a used GT for 30k. had 14k miles on it and not one problem. I just had the 25k service at a Mazi dealership for 3,500. The tire sensor light is on and they quoted me a price of 1,800 to replace em..LOL

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most Maserati Ferrari dealers will put a cpo on used Maserati's that they take in but if you buy a Maserati from say maybe a BMW dealership off of trade in or somewhere of that nature, they will most likely sell the cars without the cpo warranties.

    People think maintaining a Mercedes or a BMW is expensive. Let me introduce you to my friend Maserati, where everything breaks more often and faster than German vehicles. Don’t buy a car out of warranty? I could buy a 94 Honda with 200k miles it’ll run like a clock while a Maserati breaks every other day

    These cars are for wealthy people. Wealthy people can buy them new, cause they are rich. They can buy them used, because they can afford to repair and service them. These are not cars for people who can't afford the entire package. Sadly, seems like only people who shouldn't own one, but like the looks....end up buying a used one. Then they are screwed.

      39k too much! Remember, it was 80k in 2016 4yrs later it's less than half. By the way, you can find 2016 around $30k if you look around. Don't buy one!!!

    Thanks for the review. I have a 2015 Ghibli s and boy does that CPO warranty come in handy. The tech that certified my car mistakenly added three extra quarts of oil when servicing it. It would have cost me over $3,000 to get it fixed but the warranty covered everything. I also would like to know what the difference in price is for those two vehicles?

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're a good estimate to this video since you've benefitted from the CPO program Kendrick! The 15 SQ4 is 45k and the 2017 S is 58k.

    • @kendrickjackson2770
      @kendrickjackson2770 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      King of The Castle what I'm saying is if I didn't have the warranty or it wasn't the technician fault I would have had to cough up $3k+ of a repair. I'm seeing the cars listed in the mid to high $30k out of warranty. I wouldn't purchase one if it didn't have a CPO warranty or original warranty left.

      What dealership did you go to that made a mistake like that?

    • @robertbrown1933
      @robertbrown1933 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats why i have my own master mechanic work on all my cars because these dealerships have rookies that work on cars without being train properly without some kind of structure. I had that happen to me as well and thats why i perfer to have someone I know and trust work on my cars or I can do some of the work myself.
