    I just bought a 2020 Ghibli SQ4 with 29k miles for $39k and an original sticker of $89k. Clean carfax with full log of every maintenance on lease from dealership. I realize the cons of repairing & upkeep, but I have to say it's the nicest car I've owned....the exhaust and responsiveness for a 'luxury' car is fantastic.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats! Honestly, the maintenance & upkeep isn't too bad. The most you'll ever spend which is pretty rare would be in the range of $4k, in my experience. Usually the yearly maintenance is reasonable and as long as there's no major issues you'll be alright.
      Wishing you the best of luck with it! These are some incredibly fun cars.

    I have a 2019 Ghibli S with any and all Novitec aero equipment, as well as the Novitec electronics 430 hp, almost 500 hp and is one of the most luxury, sporty flavor sedans. I bought it new in Mexico City and I simply love the car, not a daily drive car. Thank you

    Great review, Love Love my car. I have Black car with Bk interior and red stitching. Added Red calipers to pop. Use my car daily in Southern Cali I get the questions at traffic lights, pictures of car and the random racing. SMOOTHEST driving @75+ Even @110 & 124mph could not tell the difference. Great handling & love the sound. No issues in 2 yrs.

    Great video. Im about to buy a used Ghibli. Your pros and cons video confirms all the research of done prior to purchase. Still buying one but going lower miles used for sure. Leased a Ghibli through Turo for a week and absolutely loved it. Mine will be used for fun and leisure only and not a daily driver.

      Thanks! Sounds like a great plan. I’m getting a bunch done for my 40k miles service and it’s definitely the largest bill I’ve had for the car so far (tires need to be replaced, spark plugs, various filters, etc), it’s about $4k.
      Just figured I’d put that out there as it’s definitely something to be aware of and pretty recent so I hadn’t put it in a video yet. But the fact you’re going lower mileage is great and even better that you’re not going to daily it, so you probably won’t have to worry about that for a bit.
      That being said, over 2 years later and I absolutely love the car still. They’re a blast. Have fun with it!

    Nice choice, I had my 2014 Ghibli SQ4 and drove it many years, I traded it in this year for a new Quattroporte SQ4 Gransport . Generally a better car, but I am a little miss the shorter body and more raw exhaust notes.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very nice! Mine’s a 2017 S Q4 and am hoping I get some good years out of it, so far it’s been great almost a year in. I’ll have it fully paid in the next few months and then I’ll be looking for a weekend car.
      How’re you liking the Quattroporte? Is there really a bigger difference in the note? One of my favorite things about the Ghibli is that exhaust.

      @wudaniel3096 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CarsLifeYT Hey man, yes, the Quattroporte is a bigger car, and it is different although it shares the same power train, I will say it is a smoother car than Ghibli. You can feel the size difference, so I would recommend you keep the Ghibli unless you want some combination like Maserati GT + Quattroporte (that is what I am doing, looking for a 2015+ GT 4.7) haha

    I had a ghibli (base, 2020) rental at 50000 miles and it got 29mpg highway on a road trip.
    maybe I just wasn't treating it like a rental.
    but it definately wasn't gummed or or out of tune. it blasted up to 158 mph that day which is just a few mph off its claimed top.

    Ok, I’m trying to understand something….it’s clearly not a sports car BUT….”the exhaust note is great, it’s pretty fast - 404/424 hp, it handles quite well”…..So does it have to be BLISTERING fast to be considered a “ sports car? Or a sports sedan?

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that’s honestly hard to answer for me. It definitely doesn’t do the luxury or comfort of a typical luxury sedan very well.
      Suspension is sporty and ride comfort is less than what you’d get in an equally priced luxury vehicle (new or used).
      Despite people saying it’s “not fast”, and believe me they do, I don’t think they’ve ever floored it in one of these because it definitely is faster than something like this has any right to be.
      Shifts feel great, it sounds amazing (one of my favorite sounding turbos/exhausts. Period), handling is solid, very responsive.
      It walks a fine line between luxury vehicle and sports car, but I think it veers more towards the latter. It not being a coupe is really what makes it a sports sedan.
      If you want the “sports car”, you’d go for the GranTurismo.

    Bought my first used one cpl days ago , and less than 24 hrs later, the park break wouldn't disengage. Had to have it towed 2 hrs away to a dealer. Then the diagnostic cable fell underneath the gas peddle , so i had at least a foot of cable to figure out what to do with, so i just tucked it in the first hole i could. $2k for break maintenance on regular breaks that aren't carbon disc, is pretty ridiculous . Also learned that oil change using just penzoil is $4-500 . This is going to be fun.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Damn, within 24 hours? Did you get it from a dealer? I had some issues within that timeframe that they took care of free of charge.
      Yeah, oil isn’t the cheapest and there’s currently a shortage on parts too. Mine’s in the shop now for a filter and oil change, about $600 give or take.
      To be fair, that’s really the only money I’ve spent on the car since I got it almost 11 months ago.

    Seriously you pay downpayment? Why is everyone donating money to the bank? If you pay cash, you save money, as you don’t pay interest. Obviously if the car costs more than 20% of your annual income, it’s not good, but donating money to the bank is even worse.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarsLifeYT And it is not just you, it’s what most people nowadays do. It must be something wrong with my way of thinking. By the way - nice and very informative video, especially the second part where you explain the cons. I was just about to buy a used maserati but I noticed the paint defects and I thought “the previous driver didn’t take good care of it”. But if it is about the shape of the car, even if I paint it, then it would scratch again. Interestingly my Jaguar and Lincoln had the same ground clearance (12 mm) but did not have considerable problems with that. Either the Maserati is lower, or it’s just about its shape. One question I have: You say you go only 7-8 miles per gallon. This is like over 30 L/km. Are you sure the number is correct? It is double of what I am reading online (city driving)!

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeterSchneemann True and thank you, much appreciated! I honestly think it’s the suspension and just the overall structure of the car, it makes it so it’s a bit weirdly balanced at times and I think that causes the scraping more often than not.
      The mileage is mostly from driving manual/sport in city. It’s anywhere from 10-12 nowadays but still low. In automatic/normal it’s more like 16 at the max. Highway miles are much better, up to 23-24.

    Great Video! - The reason you are not getting good gas mileage is in minute 4:25. You like to drive it in manual and keep the RPMs high. That combination in on itself can increase consumption by 30%. You should be getting about 17mpg if driving under normal "luxury sedan" conditions. - IF you choose Sport mode and that combination, you will go down to 11MPG or so. A Maserati Ghibli is a heavy car. - I have a BMW 335 sedan xdrive with and Inline 6 TwinTurbo 6 speed Manual Transmission. 3800 pounds of greatness. I have measured under different driving terrains and circumstances. the difference is always about 30% consumption - I also have an Acura MDX, have done the same tests, same results. 30% up or down. -- Keep your videos coming - A Maserati is in my future :)
