This is a 2018 Maserati Ghibli - The BEST selling Maserati of all time based on sales volume. But does that mean that this is the BEST Maserati as well? Today, I borrowed this Ghibli from a friend to show you why I think this Ghibli ISN’T as bad as you think it is. After that, I will show you some of my favorite features on this Ghibli, take the Ghibli for a drive, and last but not least, I’ll point out some of the things you should LOOK for if you’re planning on buying a Ghibli. Ghibli Ghibli Ghibli… I think this is my new favorite word! I bet you can use it in anything… Ahhh you son of a Ghibli… That movie was so good it gave me the Ghibli Ghiblis… Ask not what your Ghibli can do for you, but what you can do for your Ghibli...
Maseratis in general have a bad rep for reliability, and this model, the Ghibli isn’t particularly a Lexus either, but is not as bad as you think thanks to the supply chain and thanks to Ferrari engineers. Ferrari you say? Yes Ferrari….
Maserati as a company has had a rough life being passed down from one owner to the next, but in 1993, FIAT took over the company from De Tomaso, who saved the company from bankruptcy. Plans started brewing, but nothing exciting happened. In 1997, FIAT sold a 50% stake of the company to Ferrari, who is also owned by FIAT and that’s when the fun started.
Ferrari got started making exciting changes to the brand bringing cars like the Gran Turismo and the MC12 supercar, which is based off of the Enzo Ferrari. They ultimately developed the M157 platform, which this car has the underpinnings of as well as the new Levante SUV. So as you’ll find out soon, this car has some exciting parts from Ferrari.
    Recall Information:
Maserati vehicles over the past few years have been recalled over fire risks in seats and fuel lines, plus confusing gear shifters that drivers thought were in park, but were still in drive.
In 2017, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV called back 39,381 2014-17 Quattroporte luxury cars and Ghibli sports sedans and 2017 Levante SUVs for fire risk. Adjusting the front seats in these vehicles can lead to the seat wiring harness rubbing and possibly creating an electrical short. Dealers will inspect and replace the seat wiring harnesses, if necessary. Fiat Chrysler said the recall completion rate is 76.8 percent as of June 2018.
Also in 2017, FCA recalled 10,879 2014-15 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles over leaky fuel lines that also pose a fire risk. The fix is a new fuel line. The recall completion rate for that recall is 77.7 percent as of June 2018, FCA says.
It’s typical that about 25 percent of all automotive recalls aren’t completed, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In the company 2016 called back 26,464 2014-16 Quattroporte and Ghibli cars over a bolt that may not have been properly tightened in the rear tie-rod to hub assembly. The remedy is dealer inspection and replacing the rear tie-rod to hub assembly if needed. The completion rate for that recall is 85.5 percent as of June 2018, FCA says.
Another 2016 recall covered 28,235 2014-16 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles for driver-side floor mat anchors that can break, which could cause the floor mat to move under the accelerator and carpet. Dealers are replacing the floor mat and if needed the accelerator pedal cover. That recall as of June 2018 has a completion rate of 87.3 percent.
Also in 2016, FCA recalled about 13,000 2014 Ghibli and Quattroporte vehicles with 8-speed automatic transmissions and a monostable gear selector. Drivers may think the vehicle is in park with the gear shift lever when it is another gear. If they exit the vehicle, without being in park, it could cause serious injury. A software update is the remedy. The recall completion rate for this recall is 77.3 percent as of June 2018.

Love the reviews, Miguel! This car sounds great with the Ferrari sourced V-6. (Had some great firework trips with this car lol 😂)

Back of the steering wheel has the stereo controls. Also place it in sport mode! It opens the exhaust baffles and increases throttle response

Great review! Love Maserati. But you should tell the owner to clean his car better, those wheels would be killer cleaned 😉

De Tomaso is a legend. And has my name 😜. Maserati is the Italian bmw: fast but not the fastest, not the most expensive and not that reliable...

Hey, good analogy actually. But, who is the Italian Mercedes then?

@@Miguelsgarage Maybe Alfa Romeo or Lancia, but not really. I think there isn’t an Italian Mercedes. The only really big Italian car brand is fiat but yeah... that’s not a brand like Mercedes...

Wrong. BMW is the Germans answer to Alfa Romeo. Maserati is more comparable to Porsche. And btw it’s pronounced GibLEE.
