Brooklyn Duo Bio:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 600,000 TH-cam subscribers, and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
On a whim, the couple arranged and recorded two pop covers and released them on TH-cam. Shakira noticed the duo’s cover of her song Empire and promoted it to her 130 million-plus fan base, saying: “We're loving Brooklyn Duo's piano/cello cover of Empire! Great work guys." The boost that resulted from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on TH-cam encouraged the couple to continue creating videos.
Since then, Marnie and Patrick have released over 80 videos on their Brooklyn Duo TH-cam channel and 7 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Taylor Swift (who also tweeted about them, saying their cover of her song “Blank Space” sounded "like a song people should walk down the aisle to"). In 2016, the couple started a second TH-cam channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the goal of introducing classical music to a larger audience. With this new channel, Marnie and Patrick aim to showcase high quality, live performances of classical music. Brooklyn Classical often hosts high-profile guest artists, including the world-renowned Dover and Escher string quartets and percussionist Ivan Trevino.
In 2017, Marnie and Patrick partnered with Carnegie Hall and Ensemble Connect, a collective of some of the best young musicians in the U.S., to produce a cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me”. The video went viral and garnered millions of views in just a few months. Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.” One of their covers was also recently featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

Thanks for sharing. It's amazing! ♥🎼🎶🎵💕 Lots of love from Brazil to your great family 🇧🇷😘
Marnie 👏😍💕🎼🎶🎵
Great!
I was going to ask "about how long does it take to prepare a performance like this?" The answer "since I was 7" makes a lot of sense!
Back in college I took a watercolor class and the instructor would always do a quick demonstration at the beginning of class. In about 5 or 10 minutes he'd do some amazing watercolor and whenever someone said "wow! and in only five minutes!" he'd say "Well, five minutes plus 40 years of painting everyday."
Loving this classical music! Jam it out Marnie!! 🎹🎼🎵🎶 Tuesday post! Not expecting that one! Delighted it popped up on my notifications! 🧡 Loving this classical album!! Congrats!!
One of the cleanest version I heard.
how many of u are there
@@spebbmaster9242 what? lmao
@@hi-hc3ms seriously though, there r three mozarts commenting and im confused
The is two mozart?.??.?
The portrait is different!,!
The fact that the notes are being shown on a tablet/ipad is like... wow. Hundreds of years later it's and will be a master piece.
So perfectly played and such a perfect video shooting. Of course: Mozart's music IS perfect indeed.
expertly done, i don't know if i have heard a better solo performance of this piece. bravo!
I'm proud!
Hahahahahhaa
mee too, this is our march , thank you Mozart :)
:D
hi Wol when the next album?
😂😂
I really enjoy this version, because it's so clean, original, and very faithful to the original at the same time.
The clarity of Gould and the speed of you ☺️☺️ so good
This is the best piano I have ever heard plus she didn't miss a single note....incredible

@@marianmatei1138 I prefer Marnie's version. You can hear the staccatos a lot better
This piece is not that difficult for professional pianists though, so not missing a note is not that big of a feat for this piece
@@haomingli6175yeah, like even some really good 10 year olds can play it this well
"Marnie has been performing this piece since she was 7 years old"
What ?!?! At 7 years old I didn't even know who Mozart was
What!!!??? You didn't know how Mozart was!? OMG...my heart is broken
At 7 I barely knew what a piano was.
Bruh I ate sand at that age
At 7 I saw my first chicken.
At 7 I was still eating dirt
Mom's way of playing the piano is truly amazing
?
@@Oralice-cp9ys I guess he think's he's funny. Waiting on his own music videos so I can critique it
This is what i call perfection.
Yes
Thanks Wolfie.
Tanks you
Hold up
Shoulda said “not bad kid” you imposter
Marni has an extra special capacity to hear the melodic line of the music and built up the musical tension in just the right places without making the music sound mannered. She is able to handle the nuances of the phrase with perfect rhythmical stability. This is a true artist.
Miss that was impressive. Best version I could find on YT.
When I asked TH-cam for the Alla Turca it came up with at least 15 options by different musicians; this rendition was by far the most beautiful. Clearly phrased and articulated, a real pleasure to listen to. Thank you Marnie and whoever posted it.
I'm heartened to see phrasing and articulation being duly recognised. It's one thing to play the notes mechanically; you can program them into a machine. It's something quite different and sublime to have the ability to phrase the work, vary the touch, the pace, the tone; to invoke dynamism, to make the instrument sing with more than just the touch of your fingers. To make each recital unique and to make it your own. That requires the touch of passion, dedication, commitment and pure hard graft. I lack these attributes and that's why I can play what's written on the staves but I fall short on understanding and expressing what the ink on the page is truly trying to say.
You should listen to Fazıl Say Alla Turca is best
Have you listened to Fazıl say playing this? This sonata's other name is Turkish march. Fazıl say is a Turkish musicion who is famous worldwide. I think you should listen to him too if you are interested in this sonata
This is actually the best version I have ever heard....
+1
Listen to Fazil Say's version. I think his is the best I've heard. And weirdly he is Turkish lol
Have you heard the Volodos version?
God had truly blessed you with a supernatural talent.
I personally think that Gould's version is the best Rondo ever!
One of the cleanest qualities I've ever seen
Best version I've heard and I've listened to alot by professional/concert pianists like yourself. This performance takes me back to when I first heard it, its magic! The piano has the perfect sound for this piece too. Love the way you articulate the notes of the main starting theme.
@halaj i I'm on about the Mozart piece, NOT any of the silly arrangements based off of the original.
What about Lang Lang?
@@Anna-se3xt he plays way too fast
Lemon 【Katty】凯蒂 late reply but I think so too! It’s very hard for me enjoy it like this version because he plays it too fast for me to comprehend 😅😅
@@markfowlermusic th-cam.com/video/fzQbI58BzBo/w-d-xo.html this one is not an arrangement but still it is personal choice of taste
Superb combination of lightness of touch, expressive tone and majesty of delivery. Very fluid.
Iused to play this piece on my piano accordion when I was about 17 YO. Now hearing it played very well and in identical manner is a piano brought all my teens memmories flooding back! Gorgeous piece of "happy" music and well played Marnie Laird!
I have never heard this piece played with such expression and interpretation. Lovely.
That's the most in-tune piano I've ever heard
Does that say Steinway and Sons above the keys
That’s a Steinway for you
Mike Closs hahahhha 😂😂😂
@@JjGabrielPianist Easily amused eh!
Mike Closs yes of course its my dream piano ! 😂
When I get bored I always come to see this video. Thank you so much for making the cleanest version of Mozart❤
1:47 brought tears. Something about your playing is very magical. I have always loved this song but you truly brought out the spirit of it. Beautiful.
The ease, speed, accuracy and dexterity are absolutely phenomenal. The years of practice and dedication have certainly paid off. Great Job!!!
I did not hear Marnie's performance when she was seven, but I could listen to this one every day for the rest of my life. Bravo!
As the time passes I see this is my number one song in life.
This is not a song; a song has words.
Every time I hear this, it takes me back to the first time I ever heard it, on June 4, 1967. That morning we drove through New York City on the Cross Bronx Expressway, and as we passed beneath one of the IRT elevated subway lines, a train went by. That's what I see when I hear this piece - that subway train. I happen to be a musician and subway buff rolled into one.:)
Beautiful lady playing a beautiful piece,
Thank you
I do not know what is more beautiful, the masterpiece of Mozart,
the beautiful piano or you who are a goddess!!!
That’s for sure the best performance I have ever seen in my life.
Pure Perfection.
Amazing performance! She's very talanted. I don't think I've ever seen anyone performing this piece of music better than her
This is Mozart at his best, wonderful piano as well. I like your approach to this piece, rendered as a playful jaunt through the forest. Your mastery really makes it come alive as he intended, very energetic and uplifting. Thanks for sharing.
Listening to this classic from Mozart to me is a marvel.
Belíssima apresentação ! Parabéns !❤
I love this version the best!! At a suitable tempo, not too fast like a bumblebee, and also there is lots of expression in this rendition!!! I love this!!
still bumblebee is good
This is brilliant and not a single wrong note.
Perfect❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is most the most perfect rendition of this piece I have ever heard. Bravo to you. Simply amazing.
The best performance I ever heard, can't stop listening, so well executed, nice clear notes and tempo is awsome, beautifull played, thank you!
When I play this it’s so uneven some notes are loud some quiet but this is probably one of the best versions I’ve heard
La mejor interpretasion de todos los tiempos muchas felisidades grasias por el video desde temascalsingo Estado de México. Don charli Alva de la O asta pronto
true my playing isn't as clean as hers hng
that's why u practise the piece and scales lol
I've learned this peace with my tacher years ago and i took a break from piano. Now no matter how much i practice it is not clean. Also my piano keys are so hard or i am weak i it's so hard to play it softly and clean for me. Any suggestions? Can i do finger exircises to get stronger would it work?
If you're piano keys are hard to push down, try some of Mozart's trill exercises!
One of the best performance of Alla Turca that I ever heard on my life !! Congrats!!! I am passionate for this piece !!
Willian Jones p
Neh Ndumu wtf is that suppose to mean?
you didn't hear about Lang Lang?
Listen to Fazıl say. He is the best
Very well played! 👏🏻👏👏🏾👏🏻
It was one of the best performances I have ever heard.
Marnie is a super musical wonder. Unbelievable how someone could play this so serene and nice. It is a God's gift that she can play piano so tremendous good.
I love it when you hit the notes. Swift and gentle.
Really beautiful job.I love this melody. I greet you from Cuba 🇨🇺 God bless you
Thank you!
Very clean. Best version I have ever listened. Thank you...
Truly the most beautiful thing that I ever heard.
she's really great. i love the way she gets so zoned out when she's playing
Marnie your performances on classical composition likes of Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart are exquisite and exemplary. Thank you✨🌠
C'est l'une des meilleurs vidéos que j'ai écouté de la marche Turque vraiment magnifique !!!
Yo he praising mozart I thought they were enemies
4 minutes of my life well spent watching this clip. Super talented lady. Wow!
I wish I could play piano like her...
Me too : (
We all wish
Practice and passion are the key of mastering an instrument. You can do it!
Same, but I have no piano
Me too...
It looks so beautiful when your fingers fly so heavenly over the Piano keys
My 5year old just said and I quote her words " This is the most relaxing beautiful song (in the world) I have ever heard" ....And I agree with her . And this Pianist is super Great!!!!
Yeah, and my 4 year old told me just yesterday all about the Pythagorean theorem on her own!
I've looked at other versions and this is my favorite
You are incredibly talented! I have been chipping away at this song for weeks, giving myself a sore wrist and you make it look SO EASY. You go girl!
Bravo! Both the pianist and the piano are perfection.
this sound cheers up cloudy days and invigorates sunny days. It's a poem in melody 💚
incredible attention to detail she really is a master at piano
Awesome interpretativo.
You're amazing.
Very Very good!!!
Absolutely wonderful! I really like your style of playing. This is one of the best performances of Rondo Alla Turca that I have heard.
All great musicians make the difficult seem effortless. Two thumbs up for presentation and extraordinarily sensitive interpretation!
This is so well played.
Such clarity such control. Just amazing
That drop at 2:48 though... Gives me goosebumps every single time.
Stunning! Soft as a feather while hard as a rock! Magnifique!
It’s the best version I’ve ever heard! I’m a music teacher and we’re learning the turkish march Mozart! This will be amazing for them! You should continue!
Побольше классики! Моя душа и уши в экстазе! Спасибо Вам огромное!!
I lovw everything about this video. The playing itself, the sound, the visuals. This room with the piano and the view is part of my dream home.
extremely beautiful. Perfect accuracy in the tunes. Awesome !
This is the best performance I’ve ever seen of this piece, so clean and light. Infinite congratulations
Thank you!
I think you should listen this from Fazıl Say too.
Umut Demirci mhhh its obviously pretty good, but I think this one is better
mesmerizing, awesome, and hats off to you
Superbly precise. A delight to the ear and eye. Thank you for your devotion to playing so lovely.
You are amazing! When my son was 11 or 12 years old, he taught himself how to play this because his piano teacher thought he could not learn it.
wonderful music and a genious music by mozart
Beautifully played! And she is beautiful! 💐
This is a masterpiece of the classical music and you're a great pianist.
Just amazing.
Thank you.
ah. probably my favorite piece of old music. at school, we used to urge our music teacher to play it on piano... again!! ...each time we had lessons with him. he was an accomplished pianist, giving live performances, and composing. :-)
Best performance of this song I’ve seen yet I love it 😁
My aunt plays this identical to tune, but she was also a concert pianist. Amazing, seriously amazing!! Thank you so much!
One of the best cleanest and no-rushed well-understood and well-interpreted performance ever! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼⭐❤
I’ve heard this woman play the piano 1000 times, it’s very relaxing, I always always hear this song for study. I’m obsessed!!
That’s one of the best sounding pianos I’ve ever heard wow
Great playing
and it's a Steinway--an old Steinway. Makes me even prouder to be an American and a New Yorker.
Great piano and sound engineers who know what they are doing. And of course Marnie.
true 😊
Well it would have been even better if they hadn't placed the microphones under the lid.
Happy, sad or whatever mood I'm in I just come here. I heard this for hundreds of times. I never get bored listening to u playing this piece. The best version💖
Piano é realmente incrível. Essa é uma das melhores composições de Mozart.
Technical perfection on piano - talented pianist 🇺🇸👍☀️😊 thank you
Fantastic majesty !!!!
This is flawless. I've never heard a better version.
Proof no one has invented a time machine yet, because mid to late 18th century Vienna would be packed with people. Beautifully played. I love it when Mozart is playful like this, and is basically saying, with all due respect to Bach, I am the King of music.
Un chef d’oeuvre
I love Marnie's piano performances!
Thank you soo much, Marnie Laird! This is sooo beautiful!
I recently visited Mozart's grave in Vienna and played this video / audio in his honor during my visit. This is a perfect rendition, thank you so much for sharing your musical gift.
Charming melody as well as one playing it.
Perfect pedal usage and uncanny timing. This is gorgeous. I only played on a Steinway once but I played this very piece. It's been nearly 20 years since I've had a piano but I will once again. This is a piece I want to remember by heart for the rest of my life. Well done! Bravo!
FANTASTIC Congrats all the way.
It was a wonderful rendition Marnie! I like the way your fingers flew over the keys. A real maestro!
Mozart would Love you!!! Gratuliere und viel Spaß from Austria
Bravo !! Channeled the genius of Amadeus.
Frankly, one of the best version of all... So smooth. Congrats😊
You both should post more classical music videos
I'"m really amazed at how well she can play the fsst tempo without slipping. Even with years of practice, it can still happen.
You and your husband are AMAZING musicians! I listen for hours every day. During the pandemic, your music helps all of us. Thank You.
