    I love your story! I love the clarity and simplicity with which you relayed it to us. I have not heard this trajectory before where someone with a non-nursing bachelor's degree decided to pursue an ADN as opposed to a BSN or Entry-Level MSN. I think that was a smart decision, especially in terms of keeping school loans debt at a minimum. Congratulations on your achievements! Wishing you continued success in your future endeavors!🙏🏾

    • @oyato1
      @oyato1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea it’s great that option is available too. seen few folks with a previous BSN pursue ADN to keep cost low and some also not being competitive enough to get accepted to ABSN or direct entry MSN. It doesn’t matter the route as long as the RN is accomplished! If the BSN admission isn’t working it’s best to try ADN so Atleast one can start their journey sooner as time is ticking away. But I have hrd the BSN programs are easier than ADN . The ADN programs are quite challenging and the RN -BSN after that is a complete nuisance writing unending papers. So if one can get BSN just go ahead itl save u from worrying about tons of paper writing but if one is worried about cost, Gpa ADN is good as well. RN-BSN paper writing can be dealt with later. Most important thing is to keep moving!

    I am about to graduate with a bachelor's in microbiology and want to change to nursing. I've been given the three routes like you've mentioned, but I also worry about my GPA for accelerated programs. I am recently married but know that going for nursing after graduation is the best time. I know in the future I'll want kids, but by then, it'll be more difficult to go to school. I also have to move if I do decide to do any of the accelerated programs. I looked into online accelerated programs, and they are expensive. Moving would mean figuring out a place to live, how to pay bills, etc. A lot of it would be on my husband. I feel like after thinking about it for a while, I think my best route to take would also be going for a RN program since it's available near me. I felt like I was the only one going through this. Thank you so much for this video! ❤️

    This video is incredible- I am so glad I watched this. I have a B.S. in Public Health-- Your video is so professional, so I first assumed you were going to say you ended up doing the Master's or ABSN. I'm relieved that people are sharing their positive experiences taking this route. I don't want to go further into debt, but I really want to become a nurse! This is a great path to transition & for people who may not be able to dedicate what a ABSN or MSN requires. Also I'm so happy that it didn't take 2 years 🥹 That was my main worry with ADN route, so I hope I can complete it much sooner!

      Hey, i’m a sophomore in college and i am really interested in becoming a nurse but because i started my major in biology and took so many classes it’s kind of to late for me to have a guaranteed spot in a nursing program. I changed my major to Health science in public health and i am using my electives to take the prerequisite classes for nursing. I plan to transfer all the necessary credits to a community college after graduating with a BS in public health and pursue nursing. Is there any advice you guys can give me for this journey.

    I currently in my last year of obtaining my bachelors in Business/Public Relations but now I'm second guessing if I made the right choice due to the fact that the job market pay and outlook isn't as promising. I'm 27 as well... I think I'll still follow thru getting bachelors (only because I will be graduating with zero debt due to aid), but looking into getting my ADN afterwards... I also live close to NYC. This video was super helpful. I just hope if I go for my ADN that it will be worth it. I love to help others and obviously the pay and job demand outlook will always be high for nurses. If anyone could shed any helpful advice my way, I would greatly appreciate it!

So I’m just in the process in retaking a class again in the summer if want to go with BSN/MSN programs. @MzWendalineRN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jarard Williams Great question! I am currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program with Chamberlain University. I started this month and my expected graduation is in January. That’s 8 months to get my BSN with a previous BS, which is not bad....However, an RN to BSN program should not take longer than a year, unless the student opts to take it at a slower or part time pace. I hope that helps 😊

    • @MzWendalineRN
      @MzWendalineRN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Awesome! I’m happy to share my experiences with you. If you are referring to an entry level MSN, i have plans on continuing my education in nursing and based on what I want to do, the BSN is the best route for me. Also, it has been rumored, that if you have a new grad BSN and an entry level MSN applying to the same job, the BSN would be chosen over MSN. That is because an MSN would be considered over-qualified for the job and would require an MSN pay whereas they can hire someone with the same qualifications in terms of skills and pay them less. I caution that this is no reason to no go for an MSN. Entry-level MSN grad equally get jobs at best hospitals. It’s just something I heard, that prompts a little more research for accuracy.

      Since you are BSN,RN already, you do not need any accelerated program. You ready fit in perfectly. All you need is to start your credentializing process with US nursing board, after which a CES report is issued, you can sit for NCLEX RN

      Take nursing pre-requisite courses and choose which level you’d like to start your nursing career at and which program you’d like to complete (ADN, Accelerated BSN, or MEPN-MSN).
      I’m starting as a student in an MEPN (Master’s degree for people with non-nursing bachelor’s degrees) next year because I don’t want to go backwards in my education level. I’d like to make sure I’m advancing beyond a bachelor’s degree since I’ve already earned one.

      When you finish your bachelors degree you can look for an ABSN program (accelerated bachelors degree it’s for people who hold a bachelors degree in another field. You can do prerequisites at a community college and transfer it for the ABSN program. ABSN programs are very very intense and fast paced and rigorous and most programs last from 12-18 months. But you might have some of the prerequisites done already from your bachelors degree

      I did the same thing and it was the worst mistake I’ve made. If you don’t have work experience, you are pretty much going nowhere. Most of the jobs I was being offered pay in the 30ks, the highest was 41k. Then I saw my cousin with an associates degree in nursing making 65k starting out. And another friend of mine who just got a job this year making upwards of 80k. Its not only about the money, its also about job security and self development. I don’t know many jobs where you can ride to work in skechers and work 3 days 12 hour shifts and make upwards of 80k. Literally on those other days that you’re free, you can study, you can start a business, so many things you can do.

If you get a bachelors degree here in the u.s you can go on to do an ABSN program( accelerated bachelors degree in nursing) it’s for people who already hold a bachelors degree in another field other than nursing. But keep in mind that you have to do prerequisites and for most ABSN programs you have to have a 3.0 before you can get into the ABSN programs. And the ABSN programs are very very intense and rigorous and usually last between 12-18 months and are very expensive.

      First identify which nursing program you want to get enrolled into and then send your transcript for evaluation. The program will let you know which prequistes you need to take and maybe some of the courses you took from your previous school will be accepted. After you get a list of prequisites you need to take to be accepted to a nursing program you can enroll in a community college and complete your prequisites. Texas has several programs you can choose from eg uta has an accelerated bsn program but you can research and find the one that suits you best.
